MaxChars breaks text field maxlength attribute

I don't know if others are having problems with this, or if perhaps there is fix, but I've noticed that whenever you set the maxChars option in Spry, if the text field has a maxlength attribute, it will break it.
This is in Spry 1.6.1.

I'm hoping this 'tip' could be posted on the Help document for "Specifying minimum and maximum values" http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Spry/SDG/WS8D275E8D-68C7-4876-A138-08F447D283AE.html?

  • Marketing attribute in the text field, interactive script

    Hello Gurus,
    We are facing a problem in the interactive script, of the sap crm 7.0.
    We know the possibility of set some of the customer data into the
    script by filling bdc field inthe test field and then adding this text
    field to a script question.
    We did it in the customer data "***" by filling the bdc field with "ext
    field marketing attribute interactive script" and this data is showed
    in the script, but we can not show marketing attribute data in the
    script by using text field and bdc field.
    There is a possiblility of showing the marketing attribute in the text
    field or it is imposible due the structure of bol in crm.
    Thanks  in advance.

    Hello ,
    To display or change the marketing attributes of a business partner in the script follow these steps:
    1.  Run the Interactive Script Editor.
    2.  Create a new Question and in the Answer Area drag and drop the "Marketing Attribute" dynamic answer.
    3.  Select the "Marketing attribute will display here when executing the script" object and go to tab "Dynamic Content Parameters".
    4.  Select the attribute set and the attribute name.
    5.  Save the question.
    6.  Drag and drop the question to your script.
    7.  Change the template of the question node to either "Person Marketing Attributes" or "Organization Marketing Attributes" depending on what type of business partner is expected to be confirmed at run time in the IC_AGENT role.
    8  Save the script.
    9.  Run IC_AGENT or similar IC role.
    10. Confirm an organization ( if you used "Organization Marketing Attributes" ).
    11. Run the script.
    When you reached the question maintained above, the marketing attributes will render for that business partner, if they exists or will be created if they don't exists . To be created a button that will do a navigation is required. It means that the question will have to be linked to a next question or to itself by this button (to itself is required only if it is the last or the only question in the script). To suggest to the user that he or she has to click on the button, to save, is probably better to name the button "Save".

  • Text Field repeating at Page Break in Interactive Adobe form in Webdynpro Java

    I have requirement in which Text field containing 'Rich Text' data has a huge data coming at runtime. It is displaying correctly without any scrollbars on a single page .Now the problem is when data exceeds to next page ,text field repeats it with first line and also adds scrollbar to text field.
    I have set text field properties like Allow Page Break,Allow multiple lines ,Height Auto fit.
    Also The Text field is in flowed Subform ,Allow page breaks checked.
    Kindly provide solution in quick time..

    Yes I have checked all the subforms Flowed. Text field is working good in Preview Pdf Option of NWDS.
    But when I generate the pdf on server, when TextField flows to next page, on next page it repeats from first line.

  • How to break mult-line memo(blob) field to single line text fields

    CRXI MSSQL
    I have a Memo field with variable numbers of lines.  How can I recognize end-of-line & break into seperate text field for each line?

    Hi James,
    I'd recommend breaking it up in the database instead.  Create one field for each line, set each line to 30 characters and truncate after that.  Now you can have each line as a field in Crystal.  Drop them on and suppress them if they are empty.
    Not pretty but it will work.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Use E-commerce Attributes to create an input text field

    Hey BC Community,
    Wondering if anyone has been able to create any specialized code to use an e-commerce attribute field as a input text field?
    I have a clients that needs to capture various input fields from the customer on the Large Product view.  Unfortunately I have no more open slots (yup - used up all 4 custom slots, unit type, product meta, etc.) so I can use the "How to Set Up Special Instructions Box" idea, as I need to put the <input> fields in a Content Holder, as not all of these products have this required input fields.
    Long story short, does anyone know how to use the {tag_attributes} area of the e-commerce platform to create user input fields, which will of course, populate into the Shopping Cart as well?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

  • Rich text field will not show proper font attributes! (Bug? - RTF OTF font handling)

    I created two text form fields (rich text)...
    In Windows 7, Write program (using it to format the rich text content)... I edited my two lines.
    Line one: mix of two font sizes and a few attribute changes... pasted into the first text field perfectly.
    Line two: similar to the above... pasted into the second text field but the font is appearing in bold! It is not bold in the source, nor is it preset in the text field properties! I even pasted it back into Write AND Word and it pastes as I intended it.
    Why is Adobe doing this? I even tried to toggle >Text Style > bold on/off, clear formatting... these functions do not work!
    If I bring up the properties toolbar (Ctrl-E), bold is toggled on but I cannot toggle it off, I can add underline, I can change the font size.
    UPDATE: It seems that Adobe Acrobat is NOT reading the OTF font correctly! If I change to a different font, in the same family, the problem changes from set on bold to set on italics!
    It is specifically related to the font I am using but is ONLY a problem when using Rich Text fields. In other words, the entire font family works perfectly if I inserted a text box or use the font family in any other Adobe product.
    I have submitted a bug report: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&loc=en

    Another possibly revealing clue is that when I go to Text Field Properties > Appearance tab > Text / Font, I see the entire family of this particular font. However, when editing the text in the properties toolbar (Ctrl-E), only a small sub-set of this font family appears and the attributes behave in an odd manner. Example: normal font appears as italics but if I switch on BOLD, the italic attribute is gone... and other strange attribute problems.

  • Xml element: prevent break across text fields

    hi there,
    ive got an xml import with a lot of partyevents as xml tags. every event includes date, location, description in diffrent quantity... further i have two colums per page, and usualy there are more than one event per colum. so what i need is: if the lowest event doesnt fit into the text field, it should not break, into the next text field, it should start at the next textfield.
    iam using indesign CS6.
    thanks!

    Like Mike, I'd suggest that you need a much larger screenshot for us to see what is going on - and also, one with Type -> View Hidden Characters turned on. Without that, it's pretty much impossible to know what is going on, what's a paragraph, what's a table cell, and so on.
    It just takes effect to the paragraphs inside my event-container but itself breaks anyway...
    However, if what I see is correct, what you need is not All Lines In Paragraph in Keep Options but (because you need three different paragraphs to stick together, right?) but to apply Keep With Next n Line(s) to the pale green subhead style and the blue tinted section-head, to keep them both with the orange description.

  • How to set maxWidth in tabular form Text Field

    Text Fields do not have maxWidth property in tabular forms. Is there any way to set maxWidth using the Element Attributes field? Or at least create a Validation process to let the user know why an error appears if he/she enters more than the allowed characters in a text field.
    Thanks

    Francisco.There should be a working MAXLENGTH attribute that
    defaults to the correct length based on the data
    dictionary.Hi,
    been trawling through the forums for the same problem, found this solution which works a treat (thanks! ). But agree that the software should actually allow you to define this anyway, rather than bodge, fool, amend, bridge or circumnagivate (sp?) the software.

  • Retain all form field values after input text field validation failure

    Hi,
    I have a form with 1 input text field, one Command button and one h:selectManyListbox. when User enteres some values in input field and clicks on command button named Add, the value is validated. If input is invalid, then an error message appears next to the field. If input is valid, then the value is added into h:selectManyListbox. Adding to list box is done using Ajax4Jsf.
    Probelm:
    Let's assume user entered 3 valid values one after another and all are added into the list box. When he enters a wrong value, and error message appears. however, the entered values in list box goes away. Is there a way to retain the values even after validation failure.

    Thanks in advance,

    Use the attribute "binding" instead of a "value". This will remember the value. You can also make sure that you dont have anything in your constructor or class level that initialises that value to "" or null. Because if JSF is remembering your value but your initialization that gets triggered before the page loading resets it to default values then you need to change that part of the code.

  • Change the font color of a text field in a table by key-combination

    I want to change the font color of a text field in a table (single cell only) on pressing a key combination. Does anybody know how to do this.
    I have a lot of data in a table. During an evaluation of the data in a meeting I want to change the color of the text depending on the result of the meeting. (for example: High risk = CTRL+R makes the text red).
    I know how to change the color using a button, but I do not want to add a button after each cell. For this reason I would like to do it on a key combination that alway refers to the active cell.
    Many thanks for your help in advance.
    Marcel

    Hi,
    I don't think you can use the ctrl key like that as those shortcuts will be intercepted by Reader (ctrl-R toggles the ruler display on / off).  You also might have trouble updating the color while you still have focus on it.  You can use the shift key in a similar way, so if you only have lower case characters in the text fields then you can do something like;
    if (xfa.event.shift)
        switch (xfa.event.change)
            case "R":
                this.fontColor = "255,0,0";
                break;
            case "O":
                this.fontColor = "255,102,0";
                break;
            case "G":
                this.fontColor = "0,255,0";
                break;
        xfa.event.change = ""; // ignore character
    If you need uppercase characters maybe you can have one button to set "review mode" and test that on the if (xfa.event.shift) line.  But again it wont take effect until you have tabbed out of the field.

  • Expanding text field in table

    Hi,
    I’m pretty inexperienced with Live Cycle and was hoping I could get some help using text fields within a table.
    I’m creating a form with a table into which the user enters information. I’d like the row height in the table to adjust to the amount of text entered into the text field so as that if necessary the table will expand onto a subsequent page.
    The table exists within a subform and the text fields exist with in the table. In searching this forum I seen talk of dynamic tables but not sure how to achieve this.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Graeme

    To make the textfields grow you need to select 'Expand to Fit' under height in the Layout tab. In terms of going onto another page you need to select 'Allow Page Breaks within Content' in the Object>Field tab and make sure your subform is flowed not positioned.

  • Expanding text fields to fit text

    I have a customer who would like to be able to put large amounts of text into a text field and have it all print. The amount of text can vary, so he would like to have a box where he can enter the text and have the box size adjust to the amount of text entered, even to the point of adding extra pages if necessary. I have tried using the Expand to Fit option, but all that seems to do it allow the text to scroll while the box stays the same size. Is this something that is even possible? If so, how? Thanks.

    Hi there,
    Usually the "Expand to Fit" option under the Height property of the object is what you need.
    You also would have to make sure that your text field is "Allow Multiple Lines" & Field Format set to "Rich Text"
    Parents objects (subforms & page) are "Allow Page Breaks Within Content" and the Content set to "Flowed"
    And once those settings are set make sure that your text field is Expand to Fit on the Height property!
    Hope this help!

  • Expanding text field to allow for multiple pages

    Hi all,
    Disclaimer: Not a JAVA/programmer type. I typically Google things to death and try to learn from there. Created a form and followed some other's suggestions but I'm in a bind with expanding a field (text field) to allow for users to enter info and for it to print the full entry once submitted.
    I changed the form to be sent using the email button to select recipients and as a pdf doc. I'd like to keep it this way. I created the form and didn't use a template. I just signed up and am looking for the button to attach the doc, created in Livecycle Designer ES with the hopes that someone could take a look at it. Can't find the attach button. If someone can provide their email address to take a look, that would be great.
    Niall, I've been reading your posts and actually tried copying/pasting in one of your fields (re: subform as Flow, etc) but so far, no luck.
    I selected all the usual variables for the subform/text box:
    Allow Multiple Lines, Allow Breaks, Expand to Fit (Height).
    Please advise if someone would be available to take a look and I'll send it to you. Thanks in advance for any recommendations/availability.

    Hi Jeff,
    Yes you can force the highlight colour on using the following script in the docReady event of the root node (normally form1):
    app.runtimeHighlight = true;
    You can also change the highlight colour, but this is a personal choice. Generally I would leave it at the default. This ways users are getting the same experience.
    For the email submit, there are a couple of choices. If you use a regular button (instead of the Email Submit Button) you can script for custom recipients, subject line and message. There are examples here. You are probably better sticking with the example for versions of Acrobat/Reader v9 and below. You are looking for the last button. The script can be reduced to match your requirements.

    If you want to share a form, you will need to upload it to a file sharing site, like Acrobat.com and then post the published link here.
    You can use a regular button for the URL, so that on the click event the user is directed to Adobe's site:
    app.launchURL("http://get.adobe.com/reader/", true);
    Lastly you must Reader Enable the form before you send it out.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • How do I display array values in a text field?

    Hi there-
    I have a small Flash movie I'm trying to complete, it's my
    first go around with Flash 8 so I appreciate your patience:
    I built an array with some actionscript which seems to work
    fine (I can trace it and all is well in the trace window). Now I'm
    simply trying to display it to my Flash movie screen and I've built
    a dynamic text window which is working, except that I only ever get
    the last array element to appear in the dynamic text window. I've
    traced the code and see all of my array values, but when I use
    "myResults_txt.text=picker_array;" I only see the last position's
    value in my array. I tried playing with the "multiline" attribute
    for the text field, it didn't seem to make any difference.
    I'm sure it's probably something silly that I've missed, but
    how do you display an array, with all of it's values to a dynamic
    text field (I even tried using the textArea component but ran into
    the same problem).
    Thanks in advance for any help-
    rich

    Thanks for your input. I tried just about everything but
    ended up re-writing the contents of the array to a var and looping
    through the var. Not my first choice but it got me to done.
    Thanks again,
    Rich
