MDB Migration

hi,
I need to come up with a solution that requires high availbility to a topic and a Mdb that consumes messages from this topic.
I´ve a cluster with two Managed Servers: Ms1 and Ms2.
I´ve created a JMSServer that has a target to a migratable target (Ms1 migratable) that will migrate to Ms2 in case of Ms1 failure.
I´ve created a module with a connection factory and a Topic. The module´s target is the cluster and i,ve created a subdeployment (JmsGroup) for this module that targets the JMSServer hence when the JMSServes migrates also will the connection factory and the topic.
The topic and connection factory targets are the subdeployment(JmsGroup).
I deploy my mdb homogeneously to the cluster following the section Migration and Recovery for Clustered MDBs
from Oracle documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/ejb/message_beans.html
Everything runs fine, the MDB(instance in Ms1) consumes the messages and when i shutdown Ms1 to simulate a failure, the JMSServer , connection factory and Topic are migrated to Ms2 and the Mdb (instance in Ms2) connects to the destination (Topic) and begins to consume the messages.
The only problem is when i deploy the mdb in the cluster i got this warning in Ms2 server log.
<BEA-010061> <The Message-Driven EJB: TopicMDB is unable to connect to the JMS destination: jndi.optareTopic. The Error was:
The destination for the MDB TopicMDB(Application: TopicMDBApp, EJBComponent: TopicMDB.jar) could not be resolved at this time. Please ensure the destination is available at the JNDI name jndi.Topic. The EJB container will periodically attempt to resolve this MDB destination and additional warnings may be issued.>
And in administration server console the MDB is in active state but has the warning icon instead of the green one.
Can i stop this warning since it´s obvious the destination is not availble in Ms2.
Did i made some mistake in this setup?
How could i solve this problem? Any clue that could help me?
Thanks in advance all the helping.

Hi TomB, First of all thanks for your helping. I just have finished to prove your solution.
First i got this warning.
###<Nov 2, 2010 2:11:59 AM EDT> <Warning> <EJB> <localhost.localdomain> <node2Server> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '5' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <> <1288678319770> <BEA-010096> <The Message-Driven EJB: TopicMDB is unable to connect to the JMS destination or bind to JCA resource adapter: jndi.optareDistTopic. I´ve removed
@ActivationConfigProperty(
               propertyName = "subscriptionDurability",
                    propertyValue = "Durable")
from my MDB and the deployment was suscessfully without any warning.
The problem now i got the mdb active in Ms1 and Ms2 and messages are processed twice. I dont understand how the mdb in Ms2 is able to connect to a destination that in theory is currently in Ms1 only.
Anyway thanks for your support.

  • WLS 10 MDB migration within a WLS cluster

    Hi,
I'm trying to get MDB migration working. From my reading in the documentation regarding this topic, it appears that I have to deploy my MDB to all of the cluster server instances.
Ex, if the JMS server that my MDB is using is on a migratable target and it composes of srv1 and srv2, then I also have to deploy my MDB to srv1 and srv2 in order to get some form of "migration" working.
What I want to know is if it's possible to do a real migration like migrating JMS service for example? Instead of doing this multiple deployment of my MDB.
this snippet from http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs100/ejb/message_beans.html#wp1168630 seems to be talking about the above setup.
MDBs do not have migratable targets. Instead, an MDB automatically detects the JMS Server migration target during deployment, and uses that as its migratable target. You must ensure that MDB are deployed everywhere that a JMS Server is deployed. You can do this in two ways:
    * Deploy MDBs homogeneously to the cluster.
    * Match an MDB’s targets to the JMS migratable target list in the config.xml file for the server instance’s cluster. The MDB target server name must match the JMS migratable target list, or MDB migration will fail. For more information on configuring migratable targets, see “Defining Migratable Target Servers in a Cluster” in Using WebLogic Server Clusters.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the information.
Can you explain why this is happening though?
I have a distributed queue with two members (or specifically two JMS servers), which is targetted across the cluster (two servers cluster).
I have 1 MDB that is targetted to one of the JMS server in the distributed queue.
I deployed the MDB to the whole cluster. During monitoring, I noticed that two copies of the MDB are resident at startup (1 active on the cluster instance where the JMS server is hosting the source destination; the other is active residing on the other cluster instance). When I manually migrate the JMS server, the MDBs' status just switch due to one able to connect while the other cannot connect anymore.
So, this is what's to be expected of MDB migration, correct? In this simple scenario for example, there will always be 1 resident running/suspended copy of the MDB in memory within each cluster server instance. The MDB migration is just simply switching between one cluster instance's resident MDB to another instance's.
    Is this correct?
    Thanks.

  • Migrating When Tables Are In Seperate .mdb File

I am new to migrating databases from Access to Oracle so I hope this is not too basic a question.
In the Access world it is not uncommon to put the tables for a database in a seperate .mdb file. Then all the other database objects are in another .mdb file with linked tables pointing to the .mdb with the tables.
So my question is assuming I have a two .mdb files as described how is the migration to App Exp done? Do I need to delete all the linked tables and then migrate both .mdb files to the same schema/workspace? Is there direct support for Access linked tables in App Exp 3.1.1 (the version I am using)? Maybe there is a best practice way to migrate Access to App Exp when the Access database is in two files as described?
Thanks for your help in advance!!

The approach I have taken is to delete the linked tables, and import the actual tables into the MDB then start the migration.
I have focused on importing tables (queries/views) and data. I am rebuilding the User Interface in Apex rather than importing forms, mostly as a good opportunity to learn Apex.

  • Migration MS ACCESS FORMS and Reports to Oracle (Java or Forms or Reports)

    Hello ,
can someone tell me, how i can migrate a whole MS ACCESS 2000 mdb (with forms and Reports) to Oracle.
I think i have first migrate the Access DB with the OMWB to Oracle and in the next Step to convert the VBA Code to JAVA or Forms9i.
BUT Is there a tool available for Migrating VBA code like the OMWB ????

I don't know if this is an obvious question, but do you have MS Access 2k installed on the machine you are trying to run this from? I'm assuming yes.
If you do and there is still a problem, you should log a ticket for support who will take your mdb and help out with the issue for you.
    Many thanks

  • Problem with JMS migration when using Ctrl+C to stop the managed server in cluster

              Hi,
I am having a clustered weblogic application running on Weblogic 7.0 SP5. My application
uses JMS as a asynchrous communication. We have MDB which listens to these JMS
              messages.
If something is being processed on Managed Server 1 and while the request is in
process, i am stopping the the MAnaged SErver 1 using Ctrl+C.
After this, i go to admin console and migrate teh JTA and JMS. After this, i am
expecting other running Managed Server should restart the incomplete transaction.
But this is not happening. The Managed Serve2 doesn't process the requst.
But when i restart teh MAnaged SErver 1 again, it takes up the same request and
              processes it.
Is this a known problem with Weblogic that it doesn't support Ctlr+C case?
Please note that the same thing is working fine when i stop the server using Admin
              console(Normal shutdown OR forced shutdown).
Any comments in this regards are apprecciated.
              Thanks,

  • Access Database (.mdb) on Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials

Hi guys, thanks for your time!
    SCENARIO:
    - Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials
    - Windows 7 Ultimate Clients (3 clients)
    - VB6 application on clients using a MS Database (.mdb) hosted on the server.
    - Clients access the database (.mdb) via a mapped network drive (K:).
    PROBLEM:
    - Microsoft Database (.mdb) on server gets corrupted frequently.
    - Clients don't "flush their changes" back to the database: database was not updated.
    WORKAROUND:
    - Database was moved from the server to one of the Windows 7 clients.
    - Application is running OK.
    CONFIGURATION:
    - Permissions are correct: network and NTFS.
    - No faulty network hardware: switch, cabling, NICs.
    - Computers and Server hardware is new.
    - UPS are used everywhere.
    SOME LINKS:
    SMB 3.0
    - Opportunistic Locking and Read Caching on Microsoft Windows Networks.
    - Windows 7 cannot
open the shared MS Access database if it's opened by another user
    - Initializing the
Microsoft Jet 4.0 Database Engine Driver
    - Moved to
Server 2012 getting Access Database Corruption
    Oplocks
    - Configuring
    opportunistic locking in Windows
    - Understanding
    offline files
    - How to
    enable and disable SMBv1, SMBv2, and SMBv3
    - Is it possible to
monitor and log actual queries against an Access MDB?
Now, server is useless if it is not hosting our database. Any ideas, please? Do I need to diagnose using Wireshark? Or using Sysinternals Process Monitor? I think that is a waste of time.
    Thank you!

    Thanks for your reply.
Software is from a 3rd party provider. It currently supports concurrency. It was deployed on Windows XP. SQL Server would be a nice upgrade, however that is
    not an option.
Something has changed with newer versions of Windows. That is what I am going to study in a lab I prepared with a real server and some clients.
File-sharing databases (Microsoft JET databases) are very old technology even before I was a college student. However, I have been very busy researching this technology.
It was made for multi-user environments. It is highly tied to file sharing services from Windows: SMB protocol.
Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 use different versions of this protocol. I think that is the root of the problem. With old technology, application was running fine.
With new technology, application is troublesome. I will check several things: JET drivers vs. ACE drivers, SMB tweaks, etc.
    UPDATE:
Basically, there are 4 general answers to this issue:
    1) Migrate your Access Database to SQL Server Express (or another RDBMS engine).
    2) @Server: disable SMB 2.0/3.0 protocol stack by powershell command. Network speed decreases.
    3) @Clients: disable client redirector caches by using regedit.
    4) @Server: disable the leasing on the file server.
    5) @Server: tuning Broadcom NIC parameters.

  • How do I view Migrate Data errors - Access 2003 - Oracle 10g

I'm trying to use the SQL Developer to migrate data from an Access 2003 database to an Oracle 10g database. I followed the instructions found here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/workbench/files/omwb_getstarted.html
I was able to complete every step except the actual data move. I exported the xml for the Access database, I captured the export and then ran the generation scripts on my target Oracle database (I'm using the same schema for the migration repository and the actual data). It created the tables with only one or two errors which I resolved.
Now, when I select Migration->Migrate Data, I get the dialog that appears to start 4 or 5 threads and attempts to migrate each table. They all error and do not transfer any rows. I can see that there's one error per table, but I can't see the error text. I just know that an error occurred. Is there a log somewhere or is the error displayed somewhere else? How do I know what's gone wrong?
    Thanks.

I too receive unexplained error counts using the Migrate Data menu selection and unexplained failures using the Generate Data Move Scripts menu selection. Permissions granted by role or direct grants should not be a problem, but a Migrate Data error appears in the Migration Log panel at the bottom of the SQL Developer window, "Failed to disable constraints: ORA-00942 ... ". No further details available on what constraints or why the error. No other errors were detected while following the instructions found in the Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench Getting Started guide. SQL Developer never migrates the data from the existing Access 2000 mdb file to the newly created schema objects in Oracle 10g using either method. The following roles and privileges have been granted to both the repository owner and the target schema owner:
    GRANT RESOURCE TO MIGRATE_USER WITH ADMIN OPTION;
    GRANT CONNECT TO MIGRATE_USER WITH ADMIN OPTION;
    ALTER USER MIGRATE_USER DEFAULT ROLE ALL;

    GRANT CREATE USER TO MIGRATE_USER WITH ADMIN OPTION;
    -- 1 Tablespace Quota for MIGRATE_USER
    ALTER USER MIGRATE_USER QUOTA UNLIMITED ON USERS;
Operating system for both Access 2000 and Oracle 10g is Windows XP PRO SP2.
Oracle SQL Developer is version 1.1.2.25 build MAIN-25.79 on Windows XP PRO SP2. All three are on the same PC.
Since only the last step failed, I created a User DSN with the ODBC administrator. Then, linked the newly created Oracle table to Access via ODBC using the DSN created. Next, I created an append query with the source being the Access table and the target being the Oracle table. I moved the data by pressing the red exclamation mark.

  • Error while Migrating Access to Oracle!

    Hi,
I am migrating MS Access 97 database to oracle 10g through Oracle migration workbench. I am using default repository but when I am executing C:\omwb\msaccess_exporter\omwb97.mde to generate XML file by clicking on button Export Database Schema for my access database it is giving
    ERROR # 3376 - DAO.Database - Table '_OracletblDatabase' dosent exist.
I have MS Access plug-in C:\omwb\plugins\MSAccess.jar. and installed MDAC 2.61
Please tell me what exactly is the problem is and corrective action to resolve this error.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
You'll see such messages if you have abruptly stopped the export process previously. The solution is to remove all the _oracletble objects in the "table objects" view in the access file that your exporting [source mdb]. Try again after removing all unknown tables [they ususally have an "_" at the start]. This should bring ur export successfully.
    Kind regards,
    Srinivas

Entity beans will get refreshed using the JMS messges. with in the MDB descriptor files(weblogic-ejb-jar.xml) we are using the provider URL directly and XA enabled connection factory is set to false.
    migration to Weblogic 10.3.5_
With the same configurations MDB are not not getting deployed in weblogic 10 with some exception, so we removed the provider URL from weblogic-ejb-jar.xml and changed the JMS configuration to use foreign JMS and XA enable connection factory is set to true. Now when ever the JMS message is triggered Entity bean is not getting refreshed with the updated values. i.e values are stale.
Can some one look into this and provide your inputs to resolve this issue.

I think the Entity bean refresh problem appears to be unrelated to MDBs. The MDB is only responsible for getting the message to your application (which in turn interacts with Entity beans). You might want to try posting your question to an EJB newsgroup.

I have tried to create odbc link but i think i have done some thing wrong, kindly help
    Regards
    Zuhair

    Hi Zuhair,
If you give details of the problems you are still having then we should be able to get SQL*Developer to work.
However, if you don't want to use SQL*Developer then the following options are taken from note 393760.1 available in Metalink if you have access to that -
    1. Use a gateway that supports the non-Oracle database or generic connectivity if a third party ODBC driver is available to do a -
'create Oracle_table as select from non_oracle_table@database_link'
for each table. You would then have to manually create all the other objects (views, indexes, stored procedurs etc) and permissions etc that existed in the non-Oracle database.
    2. Use the SQL*Plus COPY command to copy data from the non-Oracle database to the
Oracle database using a gateway or generic connectivity. The syntax is as follows:
    COPY FROM username/password@oracle_sid -
    INSERT destination_oracle_table -
    USING query;
The following example selects all rows from the EMP table in the non-Oracle database and
inserts them into the local Oracle EMP table:
    COPY FROM SCOTT/TIGER@ora10 -
    INSERT EMP -
    USING SELECT * FROM SCOTT.EMP@gateway;
where "gateway" is the database link created for the gateway.
    3. Load the non-Oracle data into flat files and use SQL*Loader to put the data into Oracle tables. Again manual
work is required for the other objects.
    4. Contact the Oracle Product Technology Services (PTS) group for assistance. See the webpage -
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration//workbench/index_sqldev_omwb.html
    5. Use a third party migration tool. See -
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/isv/third_party.html
    6. Use JDBC to connect to the non-Oracle database and Java in the Oracle database. This method will work but it is not suppported by the JDBC team.
    =========
The amount of work involved will depend on the number and size of Access tables that you want to migrate.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Migrate From MS Access 2003 to Oracle using Oracle SQL Developer 3.0

    Hello All,
I am trying to migrate Access DB .mdb using the Oracle SQL Dev 3.0 Data Migration Wizard, everything go very nice and smooth until the Capture Step, for sure am using the online mode, in the Capture Step the list of available databases is empty and a Msg Box saying that the DB list should have at leats one database selected, so I don't know what's that mean or how to fix this.
in my .mdb file I have four tables and I can copy the data to Oracle using the Right click and copy to Oracle Function, but it really takes much time.
Any help would be really appreciated and thanks in advance.
    yours,
    Hussein

    Just to clarify:
You have created the migration repository and start the migration using Tools => Migration => Migrate
    - now you've selected the repositiry
    - specified a project
    - selected the source database
=> you've choosen the ONLINE Mode
==>> and now you don't see your MS Access database in the "Connection" List
    Is this correct?
If the steps you're doing match the steps I've posted above, then please be aware for MS Access migrations you need to choose the OFFLINE method. The MS Access source database information is collected by the MS Access Exporter available from Tools => Migration => MS Access Exporter
Once you've created the XML/OCP file you specify this newly created file during the OFFLINE migration mode.
If your steps differ from mine, please post yours more detailed.
    Thx.

Error #5 - XMLExporter - Ungültiger Prozeduraufruf oder ungültiges Argument c:\Access\Stammdaten_Beton_test.mdb Database Schema Export did not complete successfully.
(translated German parts: "Invalid procedure call or invalid argument")
When using quick migration wizard also an error "Ungültiger Prozeduraufruf oder ungültiges Argument" is raised after Access starts.
    AutoExec, "ShowSplashScreen("_OracleSplashScreen",3)".
    Any ideas?
Access version is MS Access 2002 SP3 (German) on a German Windows XP SP3 system.
    Thank you and best regards

There was a similar issue logged here
    Migrating MS Access database error
They downgraded the mdb file to 2000 and they where able to capture it then.
We will be looking at this issue for a future release.

  • DTS Import of MDB in SQL Server 2000 Drops Memo Field Data

I have used DTS in SQL Server 2000 to import an MDB filed (MS ACCESS) of a table.  When the table is imported the primary key is lost and the memo field data is completely gone.
I use the tranformation option in the DTS wizard to add the primary key and make sure the data type for the memo field is varchar and has a size of 8000.  I need that large size since I am storing lots of html code.
When I preview the data I see the html code that is supposed to get imported.  However, when I return all rows from the table in Enterprise Manager the field is empty.
So I tried to manually copy the data from the MS Access Database into SQL Server.  Could not figure out if SQL Server has an interface like MS Access to simply copy data into a table.  So I linked to the tables from MS Access to the SQL Server table.
When I opened the linked table I see the data in the description field.  However, if I return the rows from within SQL Server no data is present.
I have some ASP code trying to read the data in the SQL Server table.  However, nothing is returned and when I run the SQL Statement, nothing gets returned.  The SQL statement returns all rows.  All the other data is present but nothing in the description field.
What am I doing wrong?  Any suggestions anyone, please!
    TIA

It is important to know the version of MS Access. I will recomend you to use nvarchar datatype instead of varchar. May be the description field contain unicode characters.
Refer this link to understand more on datatype mapping between access source and sql server destionation.

  • Very difficult migration from MS Access to Oracle with SQL Developer

    Dear Developers
I have tried to used for one Project Oracle Sql Developer Migration from Access to Oracle (Application Express). Was about an evaluation if Oracle Express (with Application Express) or Mysql (with PHP) as target database.
I am working with Oracle for 14 years and i earn my money in projects related with Oracle. Of course i am sentimental and i push every time when an opportunity comes to have as an option Oracle.
This time beside my sentimental approach the decision was different.
I will tell you why and i hope that someone there will listen and make something for a better Product.
I was trying yesterday the whole day to migrate an Microsoft Access database. A nightmare....
    1. Microsoft Access Exporter 2000 was too slow. For a 25 MB Access database, running time was 15 Minutes. And 15 minutes to obtain an undocumented error. I followed your instruction and eliminate all references etc... as you described in HELP. a lot of time necessary to read and do..... After that i obtained an Error #..16. Sorry that i don't provide you with an exact number error. i don't have it right know and personally i am not interested anymore. For this error i don't find nothing in forums about it.... Search again and again..... Every time after waiting 15 Minutes in which you don't know exactly what application does or if really does something. I decided to delete sequentially macros, modules, forms, querys from Access database and see where Exporter stops... Time and time lost for trying and searching.... Finally i obtained my XML file only by keeping my Access tables. The file was produced even if i obtained at the end Error #5:..... Because was an error i am not really sure if the file was completly consistent with my database.
    2. I followed the next steps and with some errors (enabling, disabling constraints, objects couldn't be created because of different reasons) i had my Model and Oracle Schema. I have tried to export the data from Access and import it in Oracle. data exported was in UTF8 and SQL Loader Control file doesn't have
    LOAD DATA
    character set utf8
So i tried to add the string "character set utf8" in my dozens of CTL files - with a freeware of course.....
Maybe you can say that if i knew that from the beginning i would have set my character set in SQL Developer. I don't know and i will not ever try with this product!
So finally after hours of working and trying and playing with my nerves, reading a lot of forums and documentation, i had an Oracle schema, maybe incomplete because of different errors at so much migration stages.
And now i have tried for the first time in my life MySQL Migration Toolkit. I read that for migration to MYSQL this tool is what i needed.
I recommend you to try the product and see something about the quality required for a piece of software. Is not enough if your product runs OK with Nortwind DEMO Access database. It should run OK with all ACCESS databases.
With the tool i have done the job in 5 MINUTES. Simple, efficiently and without errors. At the end i had the SQL Scripts and the DATA imported in the database.
Difficult to say something now. I am sentimental but i asked mysef if you can do something to improve the quality of the product.
What arguments can we provide for a client in Migration from Access to Oracle ???? Can you honestly answer at that?
Please try this MYSQL Migration Toolkit.....Maybe this give you some ideas about simple tasks and about what we really need...
    Best regards
    Adrian

    Dear Barry and Kgronau
Thank you very much for your response. My Post was after a long day of trying to import an MDB file.
Maybe you can understand why i was so angry...
Yes i understand that your tool try to do more than other even if actually you don't really convert too much.
From Modules to make some procedures where the whole code is commented! .....
For other MDB which i tried to import in APEX the forms where really not usable. Queries are full of errors requires most of the time manual corrections.
I am sorry that i can not provide you with this MDB which cause these problems.
Data and software doesn't belong to me and the company which own it can not provide to you.
What i hope from your product is, even when errors come, to show a better error explanation. At what object in Access error ocures ? This is very important because i can correct my MDB or just delete the module, form, query in cause if SQL Developer doesn't like it....
Just showing an error Error #.... doesn't help me too much. And if an error occurs i don't know if program continues to work or is dead. No information about this. Maybe you can show that your application is alive and does something (working status etc...) ! Anyway we wait long minutes in front of dead screen....
Again, thank you very much for your attention
    Adrian

  • Best Practice when deploying a single mdb into a cluster

At a high level, we are converting all of our components to Weblogic processes that use Stateless Session Beans and Message Driven Beans. All of the weblogic processes will be clustered, and all of the topic queues will be distributed (Uniform Distributed Topics / Queues).
We have one component that is a single MDB reading from a single queue on 1 machine. It is a requirement that the JMS messages on that queue be processed in order, and the processing of messages frequently requires that the same row in the DB be updated. Does anyone have any thoughts on the best design for that in our clustered environment?
One possible solution we have come up with (not working):
Possible Solution 1: Use a distributed topic and enforce a single client via client-id on the connection factory, causing a single consumer.
              1.Deploy a uniform-distributed Topic to the cluster.
              2.Create a connection factory with a client-id.
3.Deploy a single FooMDB to the cluster.
Problem with Solution 1: WL allows multiple consumers on Topic with same client-id
              1.Start (2) servers in cluster
2.FooMDB running on Server_A connects to Topic
3.FooMDB running on Server_B fails with unique id exception (yeah).
4.Send messages - Messages are processed only once by FooMDB on Server_A (yeah).
              5.Stop Server_A.
6.FooMDB running on Server_B connects automatically to Topic.
7.Send messages - Messages are processed by FooMDB on Server_B (yeah).
              8.Start Server_A
9.FooMDB successfully connects to Topic, even though FooMDB on Server_B is already connected (bad). Is this a WL bug or our config bug??
10.Send messages - Messages are processed by both FooMDB on Server_A and Server_B (bad). Is this a WL bug or our config bug??
Conclusion: Does anyone have any thoughts on the best design for that in our clustered environment? and if the above solution is doable, what mistake might we have made?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks for the helpful info Tom.
Kevin - It seems that for both the MDB, and the JMS provider, there are (manual or scripted) actions to be taken during any failure event + failure probes possibly required to launch these actions...?
In the case of the JMS provider, the JMS destination needs to be migrated in the event of managed-server or host failure; if this host is the one that also runs the Admin server then the Admin server also needs to be restarted on a new host too, in order that it can become available to receive the migration instructions and thus update the config of the managed server which is to be newly targetted to serve the JMS destination.
In the case of the MDB, a deployment action of some sort would need to take place on another managed-server, in the event of a failure of the managed server or the host, where the original MDB had been initally deployed.
The JMS Destination migration actions can be totally avoided by the use of another JMS implementation which has a design philosophy of "failover" built into it (for example, Tibco EMS has totally automatic JMS failover features) and could be accessed gracefully by using Weblogic foreign JMS. The sinlge MDB deployed on one of the Weblogic managed servers in the cluster would still need some kind of (possibly scripted) redeployment action, and on top of this, there would need to be some kind of health check process to establish if this re-deployment action was actually required to be launched. It is possible that the logic and actions required just to establish the true functional health of this MDB could themsevles be as difficult as the original design requirement :-)
All of this suggests that for the given requirement; the BEA environment is not well suited; and if no other environment or JMS provider is available at your site, then a manipulation of process itself may be required to enable it to be handled in a highly-available way which can be gracefully administered in a Weblogic cluster.
We have not discussed the message payload design and the reasons that message order must be respected - by changing the message payload design and possibly adding additional data, this requirement "can", "in certain circumstances", be avoided.
If you can't do that, I suggest you buy a 2 node Sun Cluster with shared HA storage and use this to monitor a simple JMS client java program that periodically checks for items on the Queue. The Tibco EMS servers could also be configured on this platform and give totally automatic failover protection for both process and host failure scenarios. With the spare money we can go to the pub.
P.S. I don't work for Tibco or Sun and am a BIG Weblogic fan :-)
