Menu - line wrap in a menu label

Hi,
In a Muse automatically generated menu, If I have a menu label (or in Muse a 'page name', which is used by Muse to generate the menu item label for that page) which is longer than the other menu labels (such as 'item1', 'item2', 'item3', 'this is item4', 'item5', 'item6'), is there a way to have Muse display the menu label as 'this is' above 'item4' in the menu bar, with out creating a 'manual' menu?
Thanks!
Gary

  • Spry Menu Bar wraps to second line on a few monitors

    Hello-
    I am stuck on a spry horizontal menu bar and have discussed with a few local dreamweaver users and we can't figure this out. I'm using CS4 to create an internal site for my company (sorry, I can't send you link). I tested the site on firefox and explorer on my computer and everything works beautifully. When going through the soft launch one computer out of the six computers who reviewed the site had an issue with my navigation bar. I used the horizontal spry menu bar to create a navigation with six options. The problem computer wrapped the last two to a second line which makes everything weird on pages within the site.
    Screen captures are below. Three images show the main page where the navigation wraps on top of the side column and right column. The second image shows the menu bar wrapping behind the left column on additional site pages which is happening on all additional site pages.
    The code for the spry menu assets should be below the images. If you need additional information, if I didn't provide everything, I'll send it. I'm very new to this and pretty much self-taught. I have taken an online class through ed2go.com, I've asked a ton of questions from other designers using Dreamweaver, and I've watched MANY tutorials online. ANY help you can give would be MUCH appreciated. THANK YOU!!

    Hi, Mel,
    I see that you are using default widths for the list items in the menus. If you reduce the width of the list items, you should be able to settle on a width that works better than 8em and 8.2em.
    Here are the bits that will need editing:
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    list-style-type: none;
    font-size: 100%;
    position: relative;
    text-align: left;
    cursor: pointer;
    width: 8em; /* make this width smaller */
    float: left;
    /* Submenus should appear below their parent (top: 0) with a higher z-index, but they are initially off the left side of the screen (-1000em) */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    list-style-type: none;
    font-size: 100%;
    z-index: 1020;
    cursor: default;
    width: 8.2em; /* make this width smaller */
    position: absolute;
    left: -1000em;
    background-image: url(/Images/Autry_Background.jpg);
    /* Submenu that is showing with class designation MenuBarSubmenuVisible, we set left to auto so it comes onto the screen below its parent menu item */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul.MenuBarSubmenuVisible
    left: auto;
    /* Menu item containers are same fixed width as parent */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul li
    width: 8.2em; /* make this width smaller */

    1.         I have a security app on my computer, Flashbrief. I have it checked in the hide column but whenever I turn on the computerit appears in the top menu line.
    I've never heard of this software, and cannot find any reference to it online, which is a bit concerning.  What is it supposed to do?  There really isn't much need for security software on a Mac.
    2.         Whenever Iturn on the computer, a new blank document window in MS Word 2011 appears.  I do not have this listed in the login items.
    In Mac OS X 10.7, any applications left open when you shut down or restart are re-opened at startup, and any documents left open in an app when you quit are re-opened when you launch them again.  The former can be controlled by unchecking the box in the restart/shutdown alert:
    You will need to do this each time you shut down or restart, it won't remember that setting.
    The latter can be deactivated by unchecking the box in System Preferences -> General:
    3.         I have a current model of Apple wireless mouse. It keeps getting stuck in text or e-mails and I have to somehowotherwise move the cursor to break it free.
    That does not sound normal, but I don't use a mouse with my MBP, so I can't provide a solution, other than to try replacing the batteries in the mouse.

  • Skype federation: no icon, no new menu line

    Hello,
    My Skype federation is enabled and functionnal. I can talk from Skype to Lync, and from Lync to Skype.
    Nevertheless, I would like that my user be able to add simply a new Skype contact. I runned the cmdlets:
    Remove-CsPublicProvider -Identity Messenger
    New-CsPublicProvider -Identity Skype -ProxyFqdn federation.messenger.msn.com -IconUrl "https://images.edge.messenger.live.com/Messenger_16x16.png" -VerificationLevel 2 -Enabled 1
    I understood it should provide in Lync client a new menu line with the Skype icon. However, I cannot see it in my Lync client. Why is that  ?
    Thank you for your help.

    I just thought about it.... Would it be a limitation of the basic Lync 2013 client ?

  • [SOLVED] XFCE customize menu help: applications and directory menu

    I've been trying to make some progress with customizing XFCE menus. There are two menus I'm trying to create, listed below.
    Yes, i have read http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menu
    No, I'm not saying I understood all of it.
    1. I want to have a custom Applications menu that lists all installed applications, without categorization. Preferably alphabetical. I'm guessing it has a lot to do with adding a lot of <include> directives.
    Here's what I've tinkered with so far, which produces categories of apps.

    2. I want to make a different Directory menu, possibly by implicating a custom Applications menu. If I could locate the .menu file for the Directory menu panel item, I would like to make minor adjustments to the menu, and invoke it through the Applications menu panel item.
    I should state that what I'm trying to accomplish is
    a) to remove the submenu-like options with the Directory menu (open Folder, open in Terminal) to have one-click to open the folder directory
    b) to add a label next to the panel icon (aesthetics), which would be accomplished through using the Applications menu panel item.
    Edit: clarity

    Firstly, I'll tackle menu 1.
    No need to create an include line for every .desktop file. Do the following:
    $ mkdir ~/.config/menus
    $ cd ~/.config/menus
    $ touch custom-apps.menu
    Edit the file we have just created and populate it with the following:
    <!DOCTYPE Menu PUBLIC "-//freedesktop//DTD Menu 1.0//EN"
    "http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/menu-spec/1.0/menu.dtd">
    <Menu>
    <Name>Applications</Name>
    <DefaultAppDirs/>

    Now just create an application menu panel item and point it to the custom menu file we just created.
    This will display every application installed on your system, and any custom .desktop entries you may create (as long as they are set in one of the categories in the menu file). Add or remove categories as you need.
    If you want to have the "Run Program" and other "Action" items that are in the default Xfce menu, add a category line for "X-Xfce-Toplevel"
    Alternatively, you can forego all the <Category></Category> lines and simply use <All/>
    [EDIT] and since this is using garcon (Xfce's menu library), the apps will be in alphabetical order [/EDIT]
    Cheers.

  • I'm trying to print onto mailing labels, but it won't line up correctly.  It looks right on the template and the 1st row prints right.  The text keeps moving down a line on each row of labels, preventing it from printing the rest of them correctly.

    I'm trying to print onto mailing labels, but it won't line up correctly.  It looks right on the template and the 1st row even prints correctly.  The text keeps moving down a line on each row of labels, so the rest of it will not print correctly.

    There are several ways you can go about this.
    1. Most labels come with Word templates or downloadable Word templates. Simply open those in Pages.
    2. Make a table with extra cells for the thin spaces between the labels and skinny those down to match the spaces. ie You have big fat cells for the actually labels and thin narrow empty ones for the gaps.
    3. Make a floating Text box the size of one label, format with dummy text just the way you like it.
    +Menu > Format > Advanced > Define as Placeholder text+
    You can now drag and drop snippets of text, the addresses etc onto those and it will replace them matching the style of the existing text.
    You duplicate that text box into position of the other labels by clicking on it with the command kety held down, then drag copy it up or across with the option and shift keys held down. Fine tune the positions with:
    +Inspector > Metrics > Position+

  • Acrobat XI, Edit Text ... can you turn off line wrapping?

    Just upgraded from Acrobat X Pro to XI Pro ... any way to toggle line-wrapping on & off in edit text mode?
    I appreciate that XI has much livelier text editing, but sometimes I don't want the text to be that lively.
    Making a simple tweak in text often changes line wrapping on totally other lines in a paragraph, even if the line with the change doesn't wrap differently. Nothing about the font or character spacing appears to change, just the paragraph right border.
    Often the original line wrapping can be restored by adjusting the paragraph object's right border back to where it was, but sometimes that introduces even more line wrapping differences. Any way to make this more stable?

    That's Text Chat window open > View menu > Messages sub set.

  • How can I set line wrap on a JButton??

    Hi...
    I am working on an application that required to have a long label on a button and I was wondering if anyone know how to set line wrap on a JButton. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciate.

    If it is not inconvenient for you to use mouse events instead of action events this procedure may be adequate.
    Invoke "createImage" on the JButton to obtain an "Image" object then use "getGraphics" on the image object to get "Graphics" object. Next call "getFontMetrics" on the "Graphics" object to obtain "FontMetrics". Now you can get the size of a String drawn from the "drawString" method of the "Graphics" object. This can be obtained in an int returned from "getHeight" method in "FontMetrics".
    You can obtain the center of the "Image" by using "getSize" method from JButton and dividing it by 2.
    You can get the width of characters by using "FontMetrics" "charsWidth" method. Now you can use the int returned from charsWidth and getHeight to align text in the JButton "Image" by using the "Dimension"
    object returned by the "getSize" method. Now invoke
    the "drawString" method for as many lines of text as you would like to display. After finished drawing strings you
    construct an ImageIcon with its one parameter being the "Image" object you have created and drawn on.
    Now you invoke the "setIcon" method of JButton to insert the ImageIcon as the image displayed on the JButton.
    At this point you have a JButton with all the text you want displayed on it, but with no event handling. So
    you are going to add a MouseListener to the JButton.
    In the MouseListener override the "mouseClicked" method
    inside the method obtain the MouseEvent's location through "getX" and "getY". Next invoke the JButton's
    "getLocation" method to obtain a "Point" object. Now invoke the "Point" objects "getX" and "getY" methods to return the int locations of the origin of the JButton.
    Now invoke the "getSize" method of the JButton to get
    a "Dimension" object containing the size of the JButton.
    Now you can use boolean operations to determine if the
    x, y coordinate that was obtained by the MouseEvent falls within the boundries of the JButton component.
    Something like this:
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent mouseEvent) {
    Point point=jbutton.getLocation();
    Dimension dimension=jbutton.getSize();
    int pX=point.getX();
    int pY=point.getY();
    int dW=dimension.width;
    int dH=dimension.height;
    int mX=mouseEvent.getX();
    int mY=mouseEvent.getY();
    if(mX>pX & mX<(pX+dW)) {
    if(mY>pY & mY<(pY+dH)) {
    //This means that the point does indeed fall within
    //the boundries of the JButton, so place the code
    //that would normally appear in actionPerformed
    //within this code block
    Good Luck.

  • Dropdown Menu Not Covering Side Navigation Menu

    Hello,
    I have a page with a top navigation bar that includes dropdowns and a side navigation bar.  The problem I am having is that the dropdowns are not covering over the sidebar menu, but seem to be blending with it on the same level.
    If you look at my page:
    http://mymajesticwindow.com/testing/dhHighlights
    go to PRODUCTS and you can see what is happening.  Any ideas as to why this might happen?  Not sure if this is a CSS or HTML issue so I included both below.

  • How to block the Form Settings for Main Menu to use ONLY "My Menu"?

    Hi everyone:
    Our customer wants to define an User Menu (My Menu) for each B1 user within the company and restrict the Modules at main menuu2026
    How can I block the Form Settings for the Main Menu?... It is possible to give an user Only access to My Menu and denied Authorization to the Modules?.
    I appreciate your help!!. Thanks very much
    Claudia Gutiérrez

    Hi,
    'My Menu' refers to the third tab on the Main Menu, and the
    authorization of 'Organize My Menu' works as below:
    - Full Authorization: Allows the user to access the Organize User Menu
      window (Tools -> User Menu -> Organize) and customize the menu.
    - No Authorization: The user cannot open this window.

  • Is it possible to make an  animated drop down menu  and still use  the menu widget?

    Hi- I am trying to create a menu bar that is hidden with just a tab exposed  to indicate that there is a menu  there. Upon  rollover,  the full menu bar slides down and reveals the menu items.  I can't find a way to make it smoothly  slide down so I settled for the Photoshop button and just moved the button position in Photoshop to fake it.    The problem is  now I need to find a way to still use the menu widget along with this.  if that can't be done,  can I use the Photoshop button and populate the menu there and abandon the menu widget?
    Someone suggested using  Edge Animate ( why the hell is this a separate  software from Muse?)  to make the animation.  If that's a possibility,  can the menu widget be used with the Edge file that's imported?  please help me get to where I need to go  however it needs to happen!  Thanks in  advance.
    Here's a link to a screenshot of my menu: http://www.groovindj.com/menu.jpg
    Here's a site that  does  pretty much what I'm looking to do... www.bagigia.com

    Ok, thanks! I have another way to do what I'm trying to do, I just thought it might be better to do it this way. Obviously I was wrong!
    Thanks again!

  • How to prevent automatic line wrapping in a JEditorPane

    I have added a JEditorPane inside a JScrollPane which is inturn is added inside a JPanel with a GridLayout.
    While JEditorPane is loaded with an HTML page or a html file is read into it with an HTMLDocument the longer lines are geting wrapped automatically to the next line when the display area of the parent component of the JPanel where the original JScrollPane is held (like the JFrame or JSplitPane etc.)
    It doesn't help even after seeing a preferredsize/maximumSize or minimumSize
    of the JEditorPane (b'cos it defaults to some other size which i'ven't set at all).
    The horizontal scrollbar apperas only the when the the JEditorPanes size is reduced lesser than its defult size which has been set (probably by the layout manager).
    I want to get rid of this behaviour of the JEditorPane such that horizontal Scollbar should apper as soon as the user reduce the size of the window displaying the above component hierarchy (parent container->JScrollPane->JEditorPane) and no line wrapping occurs.
    Note : 1. JEditorPane doesn'y have linewrapping API like JTextArea
    2. Its default and automatic linewrapping behaviour is conforming
    with word line wrapping where lines are broken at the end of a
    word which can be fully accomodated.
