Menu Rollover Effects... please help

I'm trying to make a menu that does sort of a cover-up slide
motion, and text raising effect when the mouse moves over it.
I've got the movie clips finished, and they do what I need
them to, but when I preview my project, the animation/effect
continuously runs, rather than just running during mouse rollover.
I'm assuming it's either a problem with my invisible buttons, or my
action script, but honestly I don't even know where to start. I've
started over from scratch at least 13 times now, and still I can't
figure this thing out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

first, put a stop() action on the first frame and last frame
of the MC. then use gotoAndPlay(2) in a onRollOver handler, the MC
will then play though once and stop at the end. then in the
onRollOut handler use gotoAndStop(1); to reset the animation to the
begining.

Can't Install after effects please help

i have adobe cs5 master collection and every thing was fine untill my computer crashes due to virus i finally i install windows 7 on my computer.
and when i try to install my adobe cs5 master collection on my new os every thing installed except after effects and i am getting an error message.?
can you please help me out to install after effects on my new os.? the error message is some of the features are missing.? thats why after effects installation can't be completed.?

Lightsaber effect - please help!

I am trying to create a star wars parody movie, and of course, I need to create a glowing lightsaber. Some tutorials recommended inserting a picture of a lightsaber, keying it, and then using keyframes to move it around. There has got to be a better way with FInal Cut Express!
Please help - I don't know if you can attach a picture above a movie and make it follow a specific color - green but please help me if you can.

that is exactly, how I did that in FCE.. my lil' son had a stab in his hands, which was my 'reference', and I keyframed a Photoshop painting of a glowing lightsaber ... painstaking but effective. (one of my tests )

Batman sign effect please help

Ok in this tutorial at 1:50 there is a very cool way that the words reveal them selves with fire inside of the batman logo. It would be fantastic if someone could tell how to do that effect.....

When you want to replicate an effect start by breaking down the shot into layers. I see a background, a Batman shape acting as a mask for the internal text, fire, smoke, fire extending outside the mask, glow from the fire illuminating the background and the Batman shape. Not counting the text at the bottom that's eight or nine layers. The shape and background are fairly easy. The text is easy, and so is masking the text with the shape. The hard part Is the fire and smoke. Particle systems and fractal noise can both be used to simulate fire. You would use a copy of the text layer as a path for a particle emitter or a mask for fractal noise. Colorama could be used to add color to the fire. Duplicate layers of fire that are blurred and set to add or screen blend mode would give you the glow effect. Some animated masks could reveal the burning text.
There is no simple single plug in solution to this shot. It has to be a combination of layers and blend modes. Google should point you to some burning text or text on fire tutorials for After Effects. You are probably not going to find a tutorial that will give you exactly this look, but if you carefully search and don't just take the first tutorial you find, you can probably figure it out.
Just so you'll know, if I were starting to create that effect for a client I would probably give them an estimate of a day and a half.

ICal drop down menu is black Please Help!!

How do I change my I-Cal back to a color where I can actually view what is on the drop down menu. Right now when I look at it, it is black and I can't set the times and alerts and alarm. Please Help

I am also having the same problem and I have noticed that the calendar icon in my dock only shows the date in black and not the calendar background photo until I start iCal then the icon shows up with the background icon. When I quit iCal the background disappears again and only the date number is visible. Very odd. Both of these problems started when I upgraded iCal a while back and the problem has persisted for over a year now. Not sure what the problem is.

Spry menu problems. Please help.

I am new to web design so please try and be patient with me .
I am trying to create a horizontal spry menu bar into a new page. Even though I select horizontal, the menu is vertical. I have read through many previous posts and FAQ'q, but cannot find the answer. It is not just in IE, it is in every browser and dreamweaver itself. I am using 5.5.
UPDATE-- If I create the spry into a new blank HTML document, it works just fine. So I imagine it is something to do with the template?

Ok so I decided to make a nice menu through fireworks.
This confuses me even further, how did you make a SpryMenuBar through FW?
It now works, but the links to the drop down menu are not horizontal in the drop down menu.
So it doesn't work
And this is only when trying to enter it into the template, into a new HTML it works fine..So it does work

Automation parameters missing??? Limited menu?? Please Help

Hi All,
I'm new to Garageband however having a lot of fun with it. When I open my tracks up they have automation parameters available after pushing the line with dots button at the top, then I push the same looking button again on the actual track. After clicking on the drop down menu I see all the automation parameters. Later on when I return to some tracks the automation parameter is still there, however the only options in the drop down menu are the automation parameters volume and pan!
Can someone please tell me how to get all the automation parameter options back?
You can see from the screenshot only two options are there, I want the long list of options again.

I saw your three queries posted on OTN. All are because of the same bad version (EDIT).
Creation of "Edit" version is a known issue. Regarding the others I have filed them as bugs. Before I suggest a workaround I would like to add these:
1) When does an "Edit" vesion gets created?
Ans) This is a bug with "Application" and "Application Components". An "Edit" version gets created in the following conditions:
a) While creating an "Application" or "Application Components" if you click on any other links or button other that the normal wizzard button an "Edit" version gets created. This "Edit" version won't be visible unless you type the name in the "Find" field and click "GO". But it will exist by the name that you have give. You will not find any procedure by that name in the schema on which you have based it.
b)If you click on "Edit" link against any "Application" or "Application Component" and click on any other button or link except "OK" or "Cancel" or "Apply" an "Edit" version gets created, e.g. after clicking on "Edit" you click on "Navigator" link. In this case you will be able to see the component.
NOTE: Any other links or button does not include the tabs. You can safely navigate to different tabs.
2) From the above it is apparent how to avoid the "Edit" version getting created.
Your problem with "Forms" & "Menus" are both because of this "Edit" version.
The workaround is to delete the "Edit" version.

N96 multimedia menu problem. Please help.

I have a N96. The problem is that once i open the main menu and then i press the close button, (the button on the right) it opens the multimedia menu. If i then press the close button to close that, it close the multimedia menu but if i press it again it does the same again, kind of in a loop. If i press the left options button this now takes me back each step of the menu depending where i was. I've found that if once i've opened the main menu and gone further into any other menu, if i press and hold the options button down and the press the exit button once, then it will go back to the previous menu as it should. However, once i let go of the options button the mutimedia menu opens again. Also if i haven't got the key lock on, the main screen light stays on. If i lock the keys the screen does go darker but you can see the message flashing up on the screen as if i'm pressing a key. I've tried everything i can think of to sort this, factory reset and hard reset, also checked to see if the buttons are stuck down but they are not. nothing makes a difference. I had this problem once before, but after a few months one day it just worked normal again. Also i've just had the phone back a week from nokia repair as they repaired it after it suffered white screen of death after a recent upgrade i tried. all firmware and such is up to date.
Please can somebody help, i really feel like throwing it through a window. Any help would be very helpful.

I got the same problem on N95 8GB, after firmwareupdate and format massmemory, got new pc-suiit, and all.
(but no c++ error, When i start up Map Loader it says "Waiting for Device". The USB mode on my phone is "Pc Suit", i have winxp pro)
Then i remember from the update a half year ago, i need to "start and close" maps on my phone one's first, after that all work fine.

I'm hoping you can help me with is, I'm about to tear my hair out! I'm using JavaScript in InDesign CS3 (PC). I have three heading scripts that I wrote that go through a series of actions when clicked, and I need to be be attached to the appropriate paragraph styles. This is so the user will receive a certain look and feel when they click the style, but they won't know a script ran at all, they'll think it's just another paragraph style.
I ran the menu id script from the InDesign Scripting Guide, and it says that the root ID should be "Paragraph Style Panel Menu", however, that is not working. HELP! How can I get InDesign to reference the existing Paragraph Style Panel Menu?

Trouble installing Adobe After Effects - please help!

I have just purchased Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium for my son's birthday.... Have tried to install and all programs are good except After Effects (which is the only program he actually wanted!!) + Premiere Pro - It says minimum system requirements not met.
My computer is an Intel Core 2 Duo and has Windows Vista installed - is this any good?
I know absolutely NOTHING about computers - all I know is that I have a grumpy birthday boy who wants this program installed.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated... and in laymans terms please.

AE and Premiere CS5.5 are 64bit and thus require a 64bit capable processor and operating system. Neither seems to be the case here. However, if you properly bought the suite, you can always install the CS4 versions of these products... Please read this KB article for more specifics.

Disjointed rollover fade - Please help!

This is my website. I have one div containing a swf file with 2 ap divs ontop. The first ap div is positioned over hovering ball, the second is placed to the right hand side within the swf. I want to rollover the first ap div to make the second ap div fade in. It is working okay-ish, but for some reason the second ap div appears briefly before disappearing and then fading in. How can I get rid of the the image appearing quickly before fading in?

"N-Square" Box effects Please Help!

I am curious about the box or square effect. It breaks up a video into separate boxes, is there a way to have different video clips playing in each box? It seems like it doesn't do much more than the basics, but I just started using this program.

Since you bought it from the university bookstore, in a box, my first question would be, "did you Register it with Adobe?" Registering your software is not to be confused with Activating it (since CS), but is a separate operation.
If so, then if you log onto Adobe.com with your Adobe ID (provided that you used that one to Register), go to My Products (think that's the correct syntax), and look for your S/N there. That was Trevor's suggestion.
If you did not Register with Adobe (since you did not buy directly from the Adobe Store), Gener7's suggestion to contact Adobe Customer Support directly, is about the only way to handle things - also, when you get that S/N, that the advice to archive it in a safe place. That is advice that most people can benefit from.
