Merge in recording...

I got a very simple problem that I can't figure it out,but Im sure it's suppose to be simple
How do I record in merge mode.
Lets say I'm recording in midi.....and I want to record play 4 notes on the track, but I missed note 3.So how do I re-record that note 3 to the track?Cause if I record it again at note 3,then note 3 will be on top of notes 1,2 and 4. I understand notes 1,2 and four are not being replace because im not in replace mode. Therefore, all the notes are still there, but i can only see the newest note that I played on top of the old ones.So how can I record in merge mode? I hope someone understands what I'm saying...
help thanks...

Go to project->preferences->recording->Midi and select the option "merge with selected regions"
then before recording the missing "note 3" select the already recorded region-hit record-your new recording will be automatically merged with the existing region.

  • Merging two records in a single record for the same matnr, werks and bwart.

Hi I have a requirement to merge two records into one single record using the quantity field from MSEG table.
I am selecting two records from the table MSEG. Now for these two records i have to add the quantity values into one variable.
Then there should be only one record for the same matnr, werks, bwart.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Amit

    hi,
You can COLLECT statement only if all non key fields are numeric.
This statement Adds all such fields and give us a single record.

  • Post merging of records in MDM

    Dear All
we are merging the records in MDM.Selected 3 records and merged to one new record. In key mapping we have now 3 remote keys corresponding to original records selcted for merging. Now the same information has to be syndicated back to ECC system. Out of the 3 keys available 1 wll be default one which can be syndicated to ECC.
requirement is to send the other 2 records information to ECC where we can initiate the deletion process as well. Please help.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
initially you had 3 records from same systems with 3 different keys as ECC vendor ID is mapped to remote key --> then you merged all the three records into one single record --> now for that one record you have 3 keys pointing to same remote systems but with different remote key values.
    - When you merge three different records into one record in MDM,they will have three different Remote Key values, pertaining to their individual local record identification. However they will possess a single Global Key which will identify them as Duplicates.
    - When you talking to syndicate data back to ECC,you will face two main challenges
         1) Standard ECC tables do not have a separate field to store the global ID send from MDM besides the local id Filed(say Vendor ID).In MDM you can store both the values for the duplicate rec,the local id and the global id,but in ECC you can store only one.
2)In MDM syndicator you have a field in the Source side as Remote Key.This is enabled when you make key mapping as yes in MDM console for that table.Under this field you have two fields <Value> and <Remote System>.The  Value field is used to store the local ids of the records and the Vendor Id field in the MDM rep will actually store your global id values. So the View the local ids you will have to map the value field toa  corresponding destination field in the std Schema.Which i dont think is present.
So in the case where you use ECC data values to find duplicates. You can identify them but cannot merge and send them back to ECC.
    Hope this clears your concept.
    Hope It Helped

  • Data Merge: Multiple records in a Multiple Page Document

I looked in the InDesign help and under Limitations for merging multiple records it reads:
You cannot merge multiple records if the data fields appear on a document page in a document with multiple pages, or if data fields appear on multiple master pages.
I'm using InDesign CS 5.5. I produce a 4-page newsletter printed on both sides as a booklet, folded and stapled and each folded page size is 8.5 x 11 (a four page booklet on 11×17 paper) I want to print our 250-name mailing list on the outer cover but have discovered that it only prints the whole thing then staples it or I need to manually print each issue per name.
Is there a way around this? If we have to use a third party software, would you let me know what to look for? Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks for your help.
    Amy

How many names are you trying to put on each newsletter? I suspect only one, and that you've misiniterpreted the Help file. That warning applies to putting multiple records from the data file on the SAME page, like a sheet of labels.
Just so you know, using Data Merge to do a mailing where you are addressing multiple copies of a static document is potentially VERY inefficent. Data Merge needs to make a page for every page that will be printed, so if you have a 4-page newsletter with 1,000 subscribers you will wind up with a 4,000 page document just to get the name and address on one page, and your printer will be re-processing all those duplicate pages for each newsletter. If you have a commercial grade copier/printer there may be a variable data printing module availble for it that will merge your list at print time so you need only send a 4-page file and print 1000 copies (or you can send the job out to a printer who can handle this kind of work), or if you want to print in-house anddon't have VDP capabilities, I recommend doing two files.
The first file should be the side of the sheet that doesn't change. Print that first as a single page doing x plus a few extra copies (in case of jams in the printer when doing the second half) where x is the number of newsletters you need.  The second file is the other side of the sheet with the addresses, which you do as the Data Merge, and will end up as x pages. After printing the first side, flip the stack and reload so you are printing on the blank side, then send the merge document, asking for one copy.

  • Merging multiple records onto one page

I have two questions for successfully setting up a mail merge:
    1.  I have a .csv file that contains multiple records.  All but one column contains one line of text.  I have one column in the record that contains several paragraphs of text.
Problem:  The merge sees the paragraph returns (or line breaks) as an indicator to go to the next record.  What's the work-around for this?
    2.  I need the records to flow one after another.
Problem:  It's merging one record per page.
Background that may help (maybe merge is not the feature I should be using):
I'm designing a newspaper that contains about 150 book reviews.  The reviews stem from a database that I'm exporting as a csv.  Rather than converting/formatting the reviews from the database by hand (like I have been doing), I thought InDesign must have some automated way of handling this.
This is an example of what one record looks like:
    Italian For Beginners
    By Kristen Hammel
    Random House, $12.95, 53 pages
Don’t be fooled by the //Italian for Beginners// cover photo of an Audrey Hepburn look-alike on the back on an Italian motorcycle with her arms around a handsome man. This novel is stronger and meatier than another  “American falls in love in Italy” love story.  Yes, the protagonist Cat Connelly escapes to Italy to find herself after tiring of being the center of everyone’s dismay as an unmarried 34-year-old overly-responsible sister, daughter, and granddaughter.
And yes, there is romance, but it comes with a twist.  The best part of the novel is watching Cat shed her carefully constructed identity and past.  Harmel’s character discovers an authentic Rome from a family, insider’s perspective. The Italizan zest for life and her own connection to Italy allows her to throw off her accountant-style persona and take risks.  As Cat examines her deep-seated fears and biases,  she also discovers those things that give her true peace, joy and satisfaction.
Will Cat fall in love with a handsome Italian? Or will she fall in love with her own long-suppressed Italian heritage and natural gifts? Read the novel to find out, and you’ll also find a bonus at the end of the novel: five authentic  recipes inspired by Italian for Beginners.  Mangi, mangi, buon appetito!

    Can anyone help?

First the easy part. To get multiple records per page, create only one placeholder in the upper left position. ID duplicates EVERYTHING on the page as many times as it can using your spacing selections. If you have one element at the top of the page and another at the bottom, for example, ID will not be able to put additional records on that page because there is no space.
Text frames should be no larger than necessary to hold the data. They won't grow or shrink to fit during the merge, so you'll have gaps if the length of the text varies from record to record.
Now, for how to fix the line-break problem. In the data file substitute a character, or group of characters you won't be using anywhre else for each return. After the merge use Find/Change to replace the substituted cahracters with real breaks.

  • Merging local records with device records failed

    Hi,
I have a macbook with OS X 10.4.11 (Intel procesor)  I did install the latest Pockect mac for blackberry version (the current one in the Blackberry's page), i use to use the old one, since I did the updated I can't get that both, device and Mac SYNC any item, no contacts, no calendar...
The message I got last time was:
06:06:57:140 merging local records with device records failed.
Could some one with me a light on this bug?
    Thanks

    Hi rguardia,
Can you try synching one PIM database at a time, e.g. just Contacts by itself, so we can determine which database is experiencing the problem?  The error you are receiving is likely being caused by one specific database.
Once you have identified the database that is causing problems, can you perform the steps listed below:
1 - Run Data Purge on the affected database.  Data purge can be found in the following location:
    Mac HD/users/<Home User>/Library/Application Support/PocketMacSyncManager/Additional Tools.
***Please note this utility will delete all information stored in the selected database on your BlackBerry however once the information has been deleted from your device you can reimport the data to your BlackBerry from the application on your Mac.
2 - Run Sync Clean, which can be found in the same folder as Data Purge.
3 - Disconnect the BB from the Mac, remove the battery from the back of the device, wait 10 seconds then reinsert it
    4 - Reboot the Mac
5 - Reconnect your BlackBerry to your Mac
6 - Open PocketMac and select Reset All Devices to First Sync State from the Devices menu
7 - Configure synchronization settings for the affected PIM database, choosing the option to Overwrite Device.  If the data is successfully transferred to the device, reconfigure PocketMac back to doing a two-way sync.
If you are still running into the same problem after performing the steps above, try synching one category of the affected database at a time. To do this, click on the tab of the database you are trying to sync, click on Advanced Preferences next to the selected application, and choose the option to sync only selected categories. Try synching with only one category selected at a time, just to see if the issue is related to data within a specific category.
Let us know how you make out!

  • Best Way To merge Customer Records

    Hi community,
What is the best way to merge customer records for the same operson but may have used different email ids to correspond with BC Website

Not in BC no. You would need to export a custom report, sort that in excel and then form that into the customer import it back in or create some API that goes through and cleans that up.

  • Merging/Combining records in TIP

    Hi Gurus,
To meet a requirement, I need to merge the records with the processing type 'M' as listed below:
I used the function COMOT for the same...did not work.
    Please guide.
    Thanks
    Kumarpal

    Hi Vivek,
For the moment, lets assume that the processing type is not M... but 'H'
H, for me, is Unapproved OT...assume it to be 3 hours.
    Time Eval run 1:
    Unapproved OT exists:
I have written a custom function, whenever i encounter the processing type as H, an attendance record (IT2002)/unapproved OT gets created with 3 hours.
    PTMW:
Now, Out of the full unapproved OT, manager has approved partial OT say 1.20 hours.
    Time Eval run 2:
Approved OT 1.20 has processing type M; Due to rounding down, the approved OT in TIP is 1.00.
the other TIP entries then would be,
Approved OT Balance of Rounding i.e. 0.20, which i am now changing the processing type to 'H'.
Unapproved OT that still remains (since manager did not approve): 1,40.
Since i am always passing the Processing Type H back to IT2002 as unapproved absence, my requirement is, during the second time, to pass one single record i.e. 0.20+1.40 = 2hrs

  • Data Merge - many records, good alternative?

    Hello,
I need to data merge 780 records.  And to top it all off, each record will be two pages...So we're looking at a total of 1560 pages.  I know InDesign data merge isn't meant for this many records.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good alternative. Perhaps a plugin or another program?
    Thanks a lot,
    kdubbie

I think Data Merge could handle it just fine, but if there is other static content on these two pages, you'd be far better off finding a printer with VDP capabilities. The Data Merged doc requires processing ALL of the content on each page before printing it where a true VDP solution like XMPie would process the static data once, then insert the varialbe data into the print stream.
Are you concerned about the merge itself, or printing it after?

  • Help! Error when data merging multiple records per page

  • Data Merge Multiple Records Per Page Greyed Out

I am using InDesign cs5.5. I am attempting to create a catalog with the data merge option. I am attempting to do a data merge from the Master Page.
As you can see in the image, I have inserted my fields from the data source file. All images, original file, and data source file are in the same folder. I am inserting this info on the left sheet of the master file. When I select "Create Merged Document" the "select multiple records per page" is greyed out, however, there is plenty of room on the page for the 8 records I want it to show. See image below.
After watching tutorials, reading, etc. I made sure that my document does not have facing pages. I deleted my "page 2" to avoid that conflict. I made sure that the placeholder "allows overwrite from the master". I also deleted my "cache"/settings" by doing "ctrl, alt, shift" when reopening the program. I read that it may be because the files need to be on the right hand sheet of the master, however, when I move my info to the right sheet, I get the following message.
I have watched the tutorial videos, read the entire help section regarding data merge, and have correctly created my data source file. I've tried everything I've seen on the forums, apart from uninstalling and reinstalling. Please tell me that someone can help me figure this out as soon as possible. I'm in crunch time!
    Thanks a lot.

Thanks Peter. That helped me un-grey the multiple records. I was able to complete a data merge, however, this is what happens.
As you can see in this image, I have the margins setup the way I prefer, and the data merge previews correctly.
Once I click to merge, this is the new document I get - it's only putting one record per page (even though the multiple records per page is selected), and it inserts this layout, not onto actual pages in indesign. It looks reall odd.
    And when you scroll down,
    Any suggestions on fixing this?
Also, my InDesign freezes up when I try and do a merge of my entire sheet (182 items). The images above are when I tested doing just records 1-32.
Thanks in advance and thanks for being so prompt yesterday. Very helpful.

  • Mail Merge - multipe records to a page

I'm trying to print a legal size document with 4-up labels using 4 different mail merge feature without success.i.e. I have a mailing list of 150+ records that I am looking to print to the 4 labels on the legal sized document.
Tried using the mulitiple records options in numeous ways without success... also tried placeholders in master without success...
Any clues as to what I must be missing?
Thanks in advance for any guidance!

The problem is most likely that you have other stuff on the page.
The multiple records per page function works by reproducing EVERYTHING on the page as many times as will fit using your spacing options. If there is boilerplate text, that probably is too large to allow any duplication.
One way to handle this is to put that text on a master page, apply the none master to the merge template page, create one instance of the label in the upper left position, and merge. Once the document is merged you apply the master with the text to all pages. That will give you 4 different labels per page.
If you want four copies of the sme label, copy the label block into the other three positions on the page and merge using one record per page. Under that scenario you can leave everything on the page instead of moving it to a master.
