Method reference from a maneged bean problem

I try to use in one managed bean as property a method reference, I would like as it the reference on my action method to indicate.
<managed-bean>
  <managed-bean-name>start_identbutton</managed-bean-name>
  <managed-bean-class>ban.faces.model.NaviButton</managed-bean-class>
  <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
  <managed-property>
     <property-name>action</property-name>
     <property-class>java.lang.String</property-class>
     <value>#{identUser.navigateIn}</value>
  </managed-property>
</managed-bean>Apparent cannot deal managed bean with it:
com.sun.faces.application.ApplicationImpl createAndMaybeStoreManagedBeans Can't get value from value reference expression: '#{identUser.navigateIn}'
Can someone help me?

You can use ValueBinding/Expressions in managed properties, not MethodBinding/Expressions.

  • Problems accessing fields in a CMP entity bean from a session bean

    Hello everybody,
    I'm getting the next problem: when I try to access a field in a CMP entity bean that I have instantiated from a session bean (trhoug entitybean.getNameOfField), I get the error "the entity bean does not exist in the database".
    This entity bean is accessing a table in an external database (not the DB of the WAS), but I know that it's getting the correct data from the table, since  I check the entitybean.size() and the entitybean.findByPrimaryKey(), and I get the right information. For some reason, the only thing that it doesn't work in the entity bean are the getter/setter methods (I created them automatically after having created the entity fields).
    I access the entity bean through its local interface...
    I know it's really difficult to give an answer with so few details, but... does anybody think I forgot something important to configure??
    Thank very much in advance!!
    Isidro

    getter and setter methods for cmp-fields are abstract.
    getter and setter methods for cmr-fields are abstract.

  • Error when I call a method of AppModule from a backing bean.

    I use Jdeveloper 10.1.3.0.3 EA.
    In my application I have created ApplModule and UsrView(for my table USR).
    I have a login page (login.jsp and the backing login.java) with 2 fields userName and password and an ADF Faces Core command button (cmdCheckPass) and the method cmdCheckPass _action() for the click event .
    The problem is that I can’t call method testPassword(userName, password) which is written in AppModule. (I get error:
    javax.faces.FacesException: #{backing_login.cmdCheckPass_action}: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: java.lang.NullPointerException) from line:
    answer = app.testPass(st1,st2);
    The code is as follows:
    public String cmdCheckPass_action() {
    String answer="";
    String mes = "";
    String st1=this.getInputText1().getValue().toString();
    String st2=this.getInputText2().getValue().toString();
    AppModuleImpl app = new AppModuleImpl();
    answer = app.testPass(st1,st2);
    if (answer == "OK") {
    return "toMain";
    } else {
    answer = "";
    mes="Invalid username, password !!!";
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(null,new FacesMessage(mes));
    return answer;}
    I don’t know if theoretically is right to call, from a backing bean, a custom method of AppModule.
    Can I have any help on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Panos

    Some quick ideas:
    Is the clip the same NTSC/PAL standard as the project you are importing it to?
    Have you tried to rename the offending clip (do NOT rename any clips inside the iMovie /Media folder!!).
    How much free space do you have on the iMovie project volume -- what is the size of the imported clip?

  • JNDI Naming Problem accessing Session Bean from Message Driven Bean

    Hi,
         I am facing a very strange problem in JNDI look up accessing a Session Bean from a Message Driven Bean. I have a session faade bean(Remote Bean) which is being called from Struts Action class getting the home reference from the ServiceLocator (I have implemented ServiceLocator pattern to obtain JNDI reference for all EJBs). When I am calling the session faade EJB from the Struts Action class everything is working fine.
         But when I am trying to call the same EJB from my Message Driven Bean, I am getting a JNDI exception (NameNotFoundException - No Object bound to name java:comp/env/ejb/EJBJNDIName). I am trying to get the remote reference from the same ServiceLocator which is successfully providing me a reference while calling from the struts action class. But the same ServiceLocator is not able to provide me a reference while calling from the Message Driven Bean. If I use the JNDI name directly like EJBJNDIName in the lookup it is working fine. The lookup for the name is working fine and I am able to call the Session Faade bean with that reference.
         I am really not sure what exactly the problem is. If I have any problem in the ServiceLocator, it should have given me the same error while calling from Struts Action class. But it is working fine with the full name java:comp/env/ejb/EJBJNDIName calling from the struts action class. I am not sure whether Message Driven Bean has something to do with it. Why I am not able to get a reference of the EJB with the full name? Please Help.
    Thanks
    Amit

    Hi Bhagya,
    Thanks for your response. I think from EJB container we can call Local EJBs with the full JNDI name. The session facade bean which is being called is a remote bean. From the session facade bean I am calling a local stateless session bean for database access. I am getting the reference of the local EJB from my session facade bean with full JNDI name "java:comp/env/ejb/EJBJNDIName". It is working fine with out any problem. My servicelocator is able to provide me the reference of the local EJB from the session facade remote bean with Full JNDI name. I am only having this problem calling from the MDB. I am really not sure whether what is causing it?
    Thanks

  • How to get caller object reference from a method

    Hi,
    I am working a already existing Java Swing project, now I got a problem, in a method I need to get the caller object reference otherwise, I can't succeed this operation. So please tell me a way how to get the caller object reference from a method. that method would be static or regular method anything will do for me.

    Actually my doubt is, I have a method "addition" method, which is using by many classes so my requirement is in the addition method I want to write a code snippet which will identify and get the the caller object. Actually I tried Reflection.getcallerclass but there I am getting "CLASS" object not the actual object reference, but I want object reference.
    Actually we have a huge project which is writen plain JAVA, so in this project the authors written the Database connection package for single database transaction. so now we are using this project source code for JSF application in this web application the DB package has serve based on the dynamic db connection parameters, so if we want to change this package fully means need to solve the dependency problem in hundreds of classes, so my point is if I can access the caller object in the DB package when ever it gets called by any class from any where of the project. So actually I liked Reflection.getcallerclass, the way of implementation perfectly works for me but it is not giving caller object reference, if something gives the caller object then I can get the DB connection parameters then there is no need to pass the parameters in the hierarchy.You can add a parameter (of type Object) to your addition() method
    and everywhere you call the addition() method also pass this (which from the POW of the addition() method will be a reference to the calling class instance).
    There may be alternative solutions
    but none that require less effort.

  • Static methods in Session Beans problem

    Can a Stateful Session Bean have a static method?
    public static String foo();
    I tried to add a static method to a Stateful Session bean but had two problems:
    When I tried to add the static modifier to the Remote interface:
    static String foo();
    I got the following error message:
    Error(12,17): modifier static not allowed here
    When I tried to compile code calling this function :
    MyClass.foo();
    I got this message:
    Error(795,42): non-static method getNewSuffix(java.lang.String) cannot be referenced from a static context
    Even though a static method was compiled in this class. I assume it can't find the static modifier in the Remote interface which wasn't allowed. Are static methods allowed in EJB's at all?

    dear friend,
    1) Interfaces may not contain static functions!
    2) EJBs doesnt support static methods !
    Maybe you should go and learn more about Java and EJB's ?

  • Is it possible to call a custom method in App Module from a backing bean?

    I would like to know if a custom method in App Module can be called from inside a backing bean.
    I am not sure if it is logically right to call, from a backing bean, a custom method in App Module. But would like to know if that makes sense or if it is possible.

    Hi..
    Yes it is possible.You have to add that method for client interface of AppModule.Now you can see that method in Data Controls(Refresh the data control). To call this method using bean it should add as method action to bindings(Click Bindings>+>methodAction>and Create action binding).
    Now you can call this method in bean class.
    Check following example use this concept to execute view criteria

  • How to achieve Entity Bean methods ONLY by calling them from a Session Bean

    Hi,
    I used a session bean as a business facade to a entity bean.
    In the session bean I achieve the entity bean with a jndiContext.lookup("java:comp/env/ejbEntityBean").
    Now I am looking for a solution that it is only possible to call the entity bean methods or the whole entity bean from the corresponding session bean.
    In other words: "How can I forbid the access to the entity bean, if the calling object is not the corresponding session bean?"
    --->
    I only found a way the regulate the access to the entity bean methods by declaring a security-role.
    But the existence of the security-role at runtime depends on the calling user-authorizations!
    Is there a way to set the entity-security-role within the session bean context?
    Best Regards
    Steffen

    Hi Srikanth Reddy.T,
    sorry, I am not looking for a special tag  <entity-security-role>.
    I am looking for a way to specifiy that my session bean "has" the special security-role (in my case "WebZaehlerEjbRole") of my entity bean "in my case "WebZaehlerEjbRole") that is necessary to call the methods (findAlleEntries, findByWindowId,...) of my entity-bean.
    Here is the relevant part of my ejb-jar.ml:
         <assembly-descriptor>
              <security-role>
                   <role-name>WebZaehlerEjbRole</role-name>
              </security-role>
              <method-permission>
                   <description>method-permission</description>
                   <role-name>WebZaehlerEjbRole</role-name>
                   <method>
                        <ejb-name>WebZaehlerBean</ejb-name>
                        <method-name>findAllEntries</method-name>
                        <method-params/>
                   </method>
                   <method>
                        <ejb-name>WebZaehlerBean</ejb-name>
                        <method-name>findByWindowId</method-name>
                        <method-params>
                             <method-param>java.lang.Long</method-param>

  • Accessing a JSF element from a back bean method

    Hi,
    short question, can I access the JSF element from a back bean method?
    So, for example, if I have the following JSF code:
    <h:panelGroup id="test1" rendered="#{bean.someMethod}">...</h:panelGroup>
    <h:panelGroup id="test2" rendered="#{bean.someMethod}">...</h:panelGroup>
    <h:panelGroup id="test3" rendered="#{bean.someMethod}">...</h:panelGroup>
    Can I found out in some way, which element (esp. which ID) calls the someMethod-method?
    Kind regards
    Matthias

    There are more possibilities as well. If you depend it on for example the User's rights/groups, then you can also do for example:
    rendered="#{user.admin}" // getter = public boolean isAdmin()
    rendered="#{user.groupName == 'admin'}" // getter = public String getGroupName()
    rendered="#{user.groupId > 1}" // getter = public int getGroupId()
    rendered="#{fn:contains(user.groups, 'admin')}" // getter = public String[] getGroups() or public List<String> getGroups()
    etc..I think it's after all just a matter of learning about the capabilities of EL a bit more.

  • Help! My database connection from BMP Entity bean dies after a while!!!

    Hi all!
    I posted a related post about this lately How do I use connection pooling from BMP Entity Beans in OC4J 10.1.2? but it didn't solve my problems.
    I have some entity beans coded with BMP, so I handle all database stuff myself. I have set up datasources.xml like this:
        <data-source
            class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
            name="OracleDS"
            location="jdbc/OracleCoreDS"
            xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
            ejb-location="jdbc/OracleDS"
            connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
            username="scott"
            password="tiger"
            url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@//URL TO DB:SID"
            inactivity-timeout="30"
            min-connections="10"
            max-connections="50"
        />All JNDI connection lookup is done through the ejb-location as I should. I have been through all my try {} catch {} finally {} blocks, so ensure that I close all objects after use.
    After a few hours of inactivity, my program dies. I have inserted a lot of debug statements (System.out.println()), and it seems like the program hangs when it's trying to execute a PreparedStatement.
    I.e. it dies when I do ps.ExecuteQuery in the code below (NOTE: to make things easier to read, I have stripped out all error handling here):
        Context ic = new InitialContext();
        DataSource ds = (DataSource)ic.lookup("jdbc/OracleDS");
        c = ds.getConnection();
        System.out.println("DEBUG: Got database connection.");
        PreparedStatement ps = c.prepareStatement("SELECT foobar FROM footable WHERE foo=?");
        System.out.println("DEBUG: Prepared SQL statement.");
        ps.setString(1,"foo");
        ResultSet rs = ps.executeQuery();
        // Close all objects (rs, ps, c) here.My database is on another physical server, so I wonder if this is caused by an unstable network, or?
    Please help!

    Hi again!
    Sorry for the delay, but I have been busy lately.
    Anyway: Our application server is 10.1.2, so I don't think patch 4307303 is relevant here. Database server is Oracle 9.2.0.6. Everything runs on Linux (of course) ;-).

  • How to get iterator values from a managed bean ?

    Due to a bug in selectOneChoice i'm not able to get the label list i want to display directly from an iterator when the value binding is a managed bean.
    To solve the problem i would like to create a managed bean that contains that list and use it as the selectItems to display.
    I would like that the values in that managed bean loaded from the a data control iterator.
    My question is :
    1) is it possible to access the iterator values from a managed bean, i mean without any reference to a page definition
    2) how to do ? is it documented somewhere ? any example ?
    Thank you

    I got it also with this code:
    package view.managedBeans;
    import classification.bean.ClassificationDocument;
    import classification.castor.ClassificationLanguage;
    import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.Hashtable;
    import java.util.List;
    import java.util.Locale;
    import javax.faces.context.FacesContext;
    import javax.faces.el.ValueBinding;
    import javax.faces.model.SelectItem;
    import oracle.adf.model.generic.DCGenericDataControl;
    import org.exolab.castor.xml.MarshalException;
    import org.exolab.castor.xml.ValidationException;
    public class ClassificationLanguageList {
    private java.util.List<SelectItem> supportedLanguages = new ArrayList();
    public ClassificationLanguageList() throws FileNotFoundException,
    MarshalException,
    ValidationException {
    FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ValueBinding vb = ctx.getApplication().createValueBinding("#{data.ClassificationDocumentDataControl}");
    DCGenericDataControl classificationDocumentDataControl = (DCGenericDataControl)vb.getValue(ctx);
    ClassificationDocument classificationDocument = (ClassificationDocument)classificationDocumentDataControl.getDataProvider();
    ClassificationLanguage[] classificationLanguage = classificationDocument.getClassification().getClassificationLanguageList().getClassificationLanguage();
    for (int counter = 1; counter < classificationLanguage.length; counter++) {
    SelectItem language = new SelectItem();
    language.setValue(classificationLanguage[counter].getClassificationLanguageCode());
    language.setLabel(classificationLanguage[counter].getClassificationLanguageLabel());
    supportedLanguages.add(language);
    public void setSupportedLanguages(java.util.List<SelectItem> supportedLanguages) {
    this.supportedLanguages = supportedLanguages;
    public java.util.List<SelectItem> getSupportedLanguages() {
    return supportedLanguages;
    }

  • How to get access via RMI from a session bean to a remote session bean?

    I have 2 J2EE applications in two different Sun Application Servers (8.0 PE). I would like to get access from one Session Bean "SB1" into Application A to Session Bean "BrickFacade" within Application B.
    My Java Code from "SB1":
             Context ic = new InitialContext();
             Object o = ic.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/BrickFacade");
             BrickFacadeHome brickFacadeHome2 = (BrickFacadeHome) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(o, BrickFacadeHome.class);
             brickFacade = brickFacadeHome2.create();
             Collection col = brickFacade.doSomething();
             ...I configured the remote App.server in sun-ejb-jar.xml. I found the syntax within documentation (http://docs.sun.com/source/817-6087/dgjndi.html#wp24622) but I'm not sure if I this is the right usage.
         <ejb-ref>

            <jndi-name>corbaname:iiop://161.90.176.213:3700#webclient/BrickFacade</jndi-name>
          </ejb-ref>The context lookup throws the exception:
