I have Firefox-Mozilla Firefox. Also Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and a cc cleaner. I recently go a notice of automatic renewal from Webroot. Do I need Webroot in addition to the above? Doesn't one contradict or duplicate the other?

    is malwarebytes on demand scanner?
is webroot a internet security suite?
anyways if malwarebytes is running real time it is not good enough on its own to prevent infection, but you do not need to waste money on protection, something like pctools firewall plus and avast free antivirus will be more than good enough.you could also sandbox your browser with sandboxie which is also free..

  • My Malwarebytes anti-malware program keeps finding the following: FIREFOX_TSV4ADNAF.exe - do you know what is it?

When I run the scanner in Malwarebytes anti-malware program it keeps finding the following: FIREFOX_TSV4ADNAF.exe
Do you know if it is a part of the Firefox that I am using as a web browser or it is a real malware?

Nope, Mozilla doesn't use a exe file by that name for anything in Firefox.
My guess is that it is Malware or worse.

  • A warning from Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

I received a message from my anti-malware program:
Successfully blocked access to a potentially malicious website: 212.116.122.130
    Type: Outgoing
    Port:9747
    Process: skype.exe
Does this mean my Skype is infected and if so, how do I remove the infection?

  • Need Help---Why cant I Run my Malware/ Anti-Malware Program?

Everytime I attempt to run my extensive Anti-Malware Program I get the following Error Code:
    MBAM_ERROR_LOAD_DATABASE (0,7)
    My AVG Anti-virus runs fine!!!

If your version is smaller than 1.46, then you might get update here:
    Or tweak from moderator:
Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here:
It will ask to restart your computer once its run, please allow it to do so.
Then download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here, don't install it just yet:
Then disconnect from Internet (just for your safety).
Then temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and/or any other anti-malware real-time protection (that's why I ask you to disconnect from Internet).
Then try installing and running MBAM again (any real-time protection could have tried to stop MBAM installation; that's why it was turned off in previous step).
    Does it help?

  • Anti malware / anti spam / virus protection

    Greetings,
With the introduce of Exchange Server 2013 along with its architecture, Microsoft has moved Transport services / roles to Mailbox Server Role. well, when it comes to anti malware / anti spam and viruses , Microsoft recommends deploying them on Mailbox Server
role, while on CAS, not necessarily be deployed as long as messages are not inspected on CAS Servers.
While some articles say the opposite, and mention configuration of Anti malware ,etc.. on CAS Servers.
What is the best practice for deploying anti malware / spam / virus  Software on CAS, and what is the best recommended software for messaging and OS level protection, say Symantec for example.
    Thanking you
    Jamil

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, in Exchange 2013, the CAS server acts as a stateless proxy for all inbound and outbound external SMTP traffic, it does not inspect message content and does not queue any messages locally. Moreover, as you know, in Exchange 2013,
the Transport service, which runs on all Mailbox servers, is almost identical to the Hub Transport server role in previous versions of Exchange.
Thus, anti-spam agents in Exchange 2013 run on Mailbox servers. And here is a reference about enabling Anti-Spam on Mailbox Servers:

  • I still get a firefox security alert that my system affected by numerous virus attack even after I performed a full scan using microsoft security essential. what is the problem?

I get a firefox security alert that my system affected by numerous virus attack. I performed a full scan using microsoft security essential immediately but same message still pop up after that even though no virus was found during the scan.

You may be visiting a web site that has been infected or is hosting malware.<br />
You should never respond unrequested pop-ups that try to persuade you to download and install software.<br />
Doing that is the way to get malware because no decent company would use such methods to inform you about that.<br />
You only saw an animation and not a real scan.<br />

  • Anti-phishing, anti-malware site blocking not working after settings to enable

Tried the anti-phishing and anti-malware test pages with correct security settings as directed; they both load fine--which they shouldn't!

I would purchase a recover disk set from HP or an HP Partner.
Is was sold with a recovery partition capable of producing a set of recovery disks. When it was set up, the notebook asked if you were ready to make a set of recovery disks. Unfortunately, it would have been less expensive to pay attention to what it said. A disk set will cost around $20-30.00.

    hi Mahender,
    Thanks for your posting!
For this issue, you could refer to this document and tutorials (Microsoft Antimalware Whitepaper ). And you need use the Azure Powershell (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn771718.aspx).

  • Annual Survey virus not detected by any anti-malware program.

I have been getting the 2014 Annual Visitor's Survey pop up continuously over the last two days. I have checked the add ons - extensions. None found. I have run Windows Defender, MalwareBytes, Hitman Pro, Ad-Aware, and ESET, they detected nothing. I have checked add/remove programs, startup and anywhere else I can think of where a malicious program may hide. Found nothing. The pop up blocker is on with no exceptions. I have reset Firefox. Still there. I am running Windows 8.1 fully updated. Any suggestions? This thing is driving me crazy!

Were the anti-malware tools you used updated when you ran them? They have a definitions database, same as anti-virus software. Be sure to run AdwCleaner, TDSSKiller and others listed in the malware support article that you haven't mentioned.

Sort the list by install date. Look for programs you don't recognize among the recently installed ones. The program name can be SeeSimilar, SuperLyrics, LyricsContainer, Wajam, Webcake, HD-Video, Coupon Server, and others.
Also check if your IPv4 and IPv6 DNS settings have been tampered with. They should be set to "automatically detect", your ISP's servers, or known open DNS services like Google DNS.

  • Exchange Anti-Malware and Trend Micro

    Hellow,
I am finalizing an Exchange 2013 deployment and I have a question:
I have installed Trend Micro as the anti-virus solution for my exchange servers, but this is a file-level protection software, I guess it doesn't protect my Exchange, rather it protects only the windows server environment.
Should I enable the Exchange 2013 built-in anti-malware protection along with the trend micro? If it´s not recommended, which one should I choose to keep?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Vinicius,
I suggest enabling the Anti-Spam and Anti-Malware to protect the Exchange 2013 server.

  • Anti Malware causing issues

    Hi !!
Recently I downloaded MALWARE aNTI malware BAM progam to erase some suspicious files of programs of which no uninstaller was showing up on my Windows partition.
However, after it showed me 42 files on the quick scan (strangely 3 infected files only on the longer scan but 42 infected files on the quick scan) and I erased them some wierd things happened.
    1. Firstly when I restarted my computer the Mac partition side of it showed none of my application icons on the dock bar. In fact the entire dock bar disappeared.
When I restarted the computer then magically the dock bar re appeared.
    2. Secondly some of my applications are not working properly.
Example: Skype. Whomever I am calling they cannot see my face but I can see theirs and hear them too. They cannot see me but can hear me.
Again when I restarted skype everything worked normally.
    3. However, being the kind of person that I am I want to know what the **** is going on. Has BAM deleted some files ESSENTIAL for the smooth running of my computer and of its applications. If so then why on restarting do things seem to work fine.
    4. I thought that these anti malware programs are supposed to only find infected files for deletion not files deemed essential for your computers running.
Some help and advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked
Allow user to administer this computer
Then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Anti-Malware Platform Update for SCEP - Yea or Nay?

Just noticed an anti-malware platform update was released for SCEP. The article (
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2865173 ) has the usual boilerplate of "this update is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article" however if you read about what's
in the update, there appears to be some new 'features' not just fixes. Normally I'd look at a 'hotfix' very closely  before deploying it but in this case I can't see a reason not too. Am I alone in this?
    Orange County District Attorney

I know where it is but it has breached Microsoft ,google chrome and other sites, It is a outlook file that is in my program folder. it takes all permissions from me and then I don't have permission to delete it or change it in anyway. I don't know the password
for this email/user file so I can't control it.

  • Ran Malware ANTI Malware on windows 7 64 bit PC now cannot get my tools menue on home page

I am getting a lot of survay's popping up on my PC so I downloaded the free version of Malware Bytes Anti Malware, it took out my tools menue from my home page and adobe air aswell as HP smart web print along with some other programs, I have most back now, redownloaded windows
photo gallery and movie maker and adobe air but I cannot get my tools menue back or HP smart web print, I do not think smart web print could be a virus as it was downloaded from HP web site.
Using IE 9, can anyone help please.

A bit of repetition, mainly for the benefit of anyone else with the same issue. In your case the "for older video cards" version might be worth a try.
When cleaning folders you need to check both the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders, which you may well have done but didn't mention in the detail above.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if Apple Mobile Device Support won't install normally.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Internet Security, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Anti-Malware

What is the best internet security, anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-malware software to use on a MacBook Pro 13' (Late 2011 model) on both Mac and Windows 7 (Parallel 7) without slowing down or effecting the operating system too much ? Do I need to get the free or paid version ?

Although anti-virus software is not necessary on a Mac, you do need to be aware of what's out there and how to protect yourself against possible new threats. See my Mac Malware Guide.
As for running anti-virus in Windows 7, that's a Windows issue. I personally put AVG Free on the Windows machines used by my family, but I'm no Windows expert. I'm sure different folks here will have different recommendations, and a few of those folks may even be Windows experts! (In other words, that may be a question better suited for other forums where a higher percentage of Windows users hang out.)
