Midlet display freeze issue

I've been developing a game using midp 2 and having difficulty with changing the display for the midlet.
When I start a new stage of a game, I start out by constructing a class that extends canvas and implements runnable and putting it as an argument in setting a display.

Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(a );
Whenever I have to change the display of the screen, I call the method that basically does the same thing.
public void changeScreen()
B b = new B(this);
Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(b );
both A and B have midlet as their private object, so that changeScreen() function would be available on any part of the code.
This seems to work perfectly well with the emulator, but not on the actual device. It seems to only work 50% of the time. (it would freeze the application)
If anybody has any idea as to how to solve the problem, or know any way of debugging (at least find out what kind of exception I'm getting)
on the device, please, ANY KIND of help would be really appreciated! thanks.

It is a possibility. I am actually dealing with a graphics card issue on one currently, but it behaves a bit differently. Try this: take the system disk that you got with your computer and slide it into the drive. Restart holding down the "C" key. This will reboot from the disk. It will ask you for language like you are loading the software, select the language. It will then appear that you need to load the new software, do not do this. Go the the menus at the top of the screen and select "Disk Utility" from one of the menus, not sure which one it is at the moment. Select your hard Drive on the left side of the screen that appears (there will be two listed, one is Macintosh HD and the other will be the brand name of the drive, you can select either one). Run a Verify Disk and see if any errors crop up. Let me know what you come up with.
