How can I save my document from pages to a flash drive?

Locate the file on your Mac, plug in the USB stick (the mac should prompt you to open it, or do this automatically), click and drag the file from the computer (wherever it's saved to) to the USB folder. That's just putting an already saved file there.
To save it TO your USB stick, find it in the Save To diolog on the sidebar. Click it, then save it there.

  • Migrate documents from Filenet to SharePoint

    Hello,
Does anyone has any idea of tool available in to migrate documents from Filenet to SharePoint? Or is there any API that can help to migrate documents from Filenet to SharePoint?
    Thanks,
    Anna Jhaveri

There is a strong API in SharePoint for importing files but unless you're good with PowerShell or C# then it's not going to be easy. I've no idea what Filenet has. Knowledgelake have plenty of references on Google but other than that it doesn't seem to be
    a common need.

I just finished migrating a client from Google Apps to Microsoft Exchange Online using the IMAP option in the Microsoft Online Services Migration Tool.
I added the mailboxes by creating a CSV file [i.e. GoogleApps(Gmail)_Mailboxes.csv] in the following format:
    SourceIdentity,SourceServer,SourceLoginID,SourcePassword,TargetIdentity
    [email protected],imap.gmail.com,[email protected],P@ssword1,[email protected]
    [email protected],imap.gmail.com,[email protected],P@ssword2,[email protected]
    [email protected],imap.gmail.com,[email protected],P@ssword3,[email protected]
Then I created a custom folder map XML file [i.e. GoogleApps(Gmail)_FolderMap.xml] to map the Google Apps (Gmail) labels to the appropriate Exchange (Outlook) mailbox folders and create those that didn't exist (i.e. Important, Starred, Follow up,
Misc, Priority) as sub-folders under the Inbox:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Additionally, I had to tell the Internet E-mail Mailbox Migration Wizard to use the "Individual Account Credentials" option since I was able to specify each account password in the CSV file when adding the mailboxes to Microsoft Online Services Migration
    Tools console.
Just to note, the users had to manually export their contacts to a CSV file and calendars to iCal (ICS) files in order to import those items into Outlook.
I hope this will benefit others since Microsoft doesn't seem to have a custom, specifically defined migration strategy for this scenario.  With Google Apps being in direct competition with BPOS/Office365, I assumed that Microsoft would have a simple
strategy using something like ActiveSync to facilitate the migration of email, contacts, calendar entries, etc.  Hopefully we'll see something along those lines become available in a future release of the migration tools.

  • HT201250 i bought a new mac, and i want to migrate data from my old pc external drive to my mac how is this done

Just Recently bought a new Mac, because my old PC crashed again, ( finished w/ microsoft) but now i would like to migrate data from my external drive i used on my PC to my new Mac. i loaded the Migration assitant from utilities but didnt see how to migrate the data from this external drive. which is a SEgate drive. any ideas.

Just in case you are not aware of this, you can probably use your external drive, which you presumably now no longer need for your PC, as the backup drive using the Mac's Time Machine. If you still have any Windows specific files that you want to keep, it is really easy to partition the drive so that you can keep Windows files and Mac files in different partitions.

  • Transfering from 10.4 on one drive to a new 10.5 firewire

I am keeping a 10.4.x system on an internal drive for old apps that might not like 10.5. Also the current boot drive is small and can barely hold the OS and apps (no data files which are on an external 500GB external firewire). I have managed to move "lost" data on programs that use a plist and other files with previous major updates, but never to different drives with different OS X.
    My questions are:
    1) will migration assistant work through an external firewire drive on the SAME computer from OS version 10.4 to 10.5? Data problems I know of at this point will be address book, iCal, mail, iTunes, Safari book marks. iTunes has folders in many places for music, artwork, and other info.
    2) with iCal transferring, is there some way to delete old info other than item by item to preserve the current year? My iCal has data back to 1/1/2003 and just want the current year but archive the previous year's information somehow. Can iCal support multiple calendars like iPhoto?
    3) I have hundreds of font families and don't want to manually rebuild FontBook from stratch when I move the fonts to the new 10.5 drive in the appropriate font folders. Any suggestions?

    1) data migration should have no problem recognizing the internal drive even if you're booted from the external, and migrating the information from 10.4 to 10.5 should be fairly seamless and it's rarely problematic.
    2) i found a work around for deleting all the old ical information. i created a backup of the current iCal, then once the backup was completed, went into preferences -> advanced, and selected "delete events 7 days after they passed" it asks if you want to do this. I then clicked ok, and changed it from 7 days to 30 days. it took about a minute for the changes to go through, but it got rid of everything passed 30 days. since you want it just for the entire year, it might be a bit tricky calculating the days, so that you can keep everything for this year. Also, iCal doesn't support multiple calendars like iPhoto, since you can have multiple groups if need be.
    3) i wouldn't know too much about this part, i would assume that the migration assistant would take care of this for you.
i would say before doing anything backup your info; better safe than sorry.
hope this was helpful in some way.

  • How do I back up multiple drives to one drive?

What ever happened to the standard back up software that used to scan the volume(s) you want backed up and would then back them up to one location (back in the day it was tapes) then would update changes to the backup for subsequent backups after the first? I can't seem to find anything like that. Seems like everything wants to clone a drive.
I have 2 external drives and one internal drive I want to back up to a 4TB external drive. I don't need to make a bootable copy of my startup drive nor do I want to clone a drive (or drives). I just want to do an old-fashioned backup. I do use Time Machine which backs up to one of the external drives I want to back up. The overall backup is just another layer of security for me. I also use Crash Plan to back up online but, as you can imagine, it's a lot of data and would take quite a while to restore from a crash if/when that happens. I'd like a more local solution and have Crash Plan as my last-ditch effort should things REALLY get bad.
    Anyway, looking for suggestions.
    Thanks.

with Lightroom you don't have to worry about the metadata and all changes you have made to inages being lost with a restore of just the image files. Lightroom puts all the edits in either a Sidecar file in the same folder as the image or it store the edits with the inside the image file, most when you are using DNG files. The Lightroom catalog is just that, A Catalog of your images. iPhoto and Aperture save edits to its own database structure so you need to restore both the images and the Library to keep all the edits you have made.
Also Lightroom by default does not import, move/copy, your images into its own folder structure. It leaves them where you placed them. iPhoto, and I would guess Aperture (Never used it but both iPhoto and aperture use the same library system), by default copies your images into its own folders. IMHO this is a very bad thing to do. Others don't think so.
I just make backups of my images on other computers and external drives. You can never have to many copies of your images

  • How to migrate documents from Lotus Notes to Stellent Repository

    Hi All,
I want to migrate almost 5000 documents from Lotus Notes to Stellent Repository. Is there any way to achieve this functionality?
how to integrate both the things please let me know.
    Regards,
    Vishal Shah

    Hey Vishal,
    one approach could be
    1) fetch all the documnets and metadata (wat ever you need) from the Lotus Notes repository using java+Lotus API 2) write a BatchLoad script file using the metadata you have. And then start the batch loader.
    other approach could be to
    1) fetch all the documnets and metadata (wat ever you need) from the Lotus Notes repository using java+Lotus API
    2) Checkthem in using the WSDLs.
There is one thing thought that even i would like to know its which of the two will perform better ?

  • I uploaded a document from my PC to one of my iPads using the Cloud and Pages.  It appeared on both my iPads as it should have.  But when I deleted that document from one of my iPads, it did not delete from the other iPad.  Anyone know why?

I have no other info to add other than it is my understanding that if both my iPads are connected through the Cloud, if I delete a document from one of them, it should automatically be deleted off the other one.  Thanks

Use the Office for Mac and ignore using Parallels for that. If you have PC only apps you have to run that are MS Windows only then consider Parallels. Just transfer your main PC, using Migration Assistant.  If you don't know how then simply read over Pondini's article called Lion or Mountain Lion Setup Assistant tips and look for the section on migrating from a PC. Millions have done what you are about to, it's far from leading edge these days, if you go to an Apple Store to purchase they will offer this as a service, something you might be interested in.

  • Can I choose which backup for Time Machine to use if I have backups from two macs on one drive?

I have Time Machine backup on an external drive. I want to mirgrate all my files onto the new Mac Pro but migration is getting hung up and cant find the drive. Can I set up Time Machine for the new mac on this same drive and then select the old macs backup from within Time Machine?

Most likely, some folders were excluded from your backups as the result of a failed or aborted software installation.
Starting from a clean installation of OS X, set up a new administrator account and log in. Enter Time Machine and press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible.* Select the one you want and navigate to your home folder (in the Users folder at the top level of the old startup volume.)
You should now be able to restore your user data. I suggest you do this in two stages. Quit all applications except the Finder before you begin.
Restore all the visible items at the top level of your home folder.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar. Enter Time Machine and restore all items in the Library folder. Log out and log back in as soon as the restore is complete.
Any other invisible folders or files at the top level of your home folder that you want to preserve will have to be restored separately. For most users, that isn't necessary.
You'll have to reinstall all third-party applications from scratch, or restore them from another kind of backup, if you have one.
You'll have another problem if this is a new computer, or if you erased the startup volume: The next time you back up, Time Machine won't recognize any files as being the same as they were before, and will make a full copy of all files. There might not be enough space on one or more of your backup volumes for that. There are different ways of dealing with that situation, depending on your needs. The easiest way is to set your backup drives aside, if possible, until you're sure you'll no longer need the data on them, then erase them and start over. Meanwhile start a new backup on one or more empty storage devices. If that solution isn't workable for you, ask for instructions.
*If you don't see any snapshots in Time Machine, exit the time-travel view and then hold down the option key while selecting
    Browse Other Backup Disks...
from the Time Machine menu, which has an icon that looks like a clock running backwards. Select the backups of your computer by its previous name. If you don't have the Time Machine menu, open the Time Machine preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked
Show Time Machine in menu bar

  • Getting data from multiple hard drives onto one drive

So here's the problem: I have a Quicksilver 867 I want to upgrade, it came with no HD so I want a new one, I put my old strawberry imac's HD into it because I still have a use for all the programs on it (i.e. photoshop) and I wanted to take advantage of the QS' hardware (superdrive), also I know my department is getting rid of their old G4 and that computer has some programs I would rather see being used than being erased, so is there a way to copy all the information from those two drives onto a new drive and still have those programs working good? I've read about HD copying software but am still hazy on how it will handle individual programs? If I have to copy the whole drive, would there be a problem with multiple system folders being on the new HD? I don't have much experience with this sort of thing, so I hope I'm describing the situation well enough.
I plan to buy Tiger and install it on the new HD and the old drives are running os 9.1 and 9.2 just to let you all know. If anyone can give me some advice I would be most grateful.
    thanks,
    nick

Having multiple system folders on the same volume is a problem waiting to happen. The safest way to have trouble-free programs is to use the original installer CDs to load the software, so that all components (both visible and invisible) are written to their designated locations on the hard drive. Copying programs from another hard drive without ownership of the media is software piracy. If your employer doesn't use the programs on the soon-to-be discarded G4, why not ask if you can have or purchase the installer CDs?

  • Migrating "Documents" from one user to another without permission issues

    Hi,
I'm facing an issue with permissions on files I have moved from one users "documents" to another users "documents" folder.
To cut a long story short, I have installed a new HD in my iMac and have cleanly installed Snow Leopard. In addition I have created a new user (user1) and have also used time machine to recover my original user files using migration assistant (user2).
I wanted to start off with a fresh user (user1), so wanted to copy specific files across from my old account (user2) but no application files or settings.
I have managed to do this for iPhoto, iMovie, iTunes, Mail, iCal and Address Book, however I'm having issue with my "Documents" folder.
Basically I think I initialy moved the "user2" (old) Documents folder into the "shared user" account, logged into "user1" (new) and copied over the files. I thought it was all good, however when my Wife attempted to duplicate her resume to edit a new version OS X requests the users password, also we are unable to rename an existing file or open the documents then save, as we do not have the correct permissions.
I have looked at the permissions and it shows that
    user2(old) has read/write
    staff has read
    everyone has read
This appears to be the same for all files(except "staff" is replaced with "wheel"). When I add user1(new) read/write to the list and apply to all subfile, it does not update all files. I really don't want to be updating all the files seperatly.
Since doing this I also moved the files back to user2(old) then used "copied" the documents folder in the same way as above. Still the same issue.
Is there a correct way of moving files between users which will remove any permission issues? As I must have done something wrong.
    Thanks
    Chris

To move files from Account A to Account B:
    1) Log in as A
    2) Move all the files to /Users/A/Public (don't move any system-created folders like Documents, Pictures, etc. Just move their contents.)
    3) Log in as B
    4) Navigate with Finder to /Users/A/Public
    5) Drag the files to the Desktop (this will make new copies of them with correct permissions for B)
    6) File the new files away in the appropriate places in B's home folder
    7) Log in as A and delete the original copies of the files from A's home folder
If you have already moved files from A to B the incorrect way (i.e. by using /Users/Shared) and are running into permissions issues, fix them by logging in to an Admin account and entering these two Terminal commands:
sudo chown -R userb ~userb (this one changes ownership of everything in B's home folder to B)
sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~userb (this one ensures that B can read and write to everything in his home folder)

  • Recovering documents from computer onto new hard drive

My computer recently froze in the middle of watching a TV, which resulted in the gray screen of death and resulting in my hard drive crashing and getting a replacement. After getting home and starting from scratch again, I happened to search a few words in Spotlight and up popped results in documents that had been saved on my past hard drive. I don't have my Microsoft CDs with me to reinstall Word, so the documents only open up in TextEdit, but I'm trying to figure out how to get to those documents? And where are they saved???

In Spotlight, enter your search term. Click "Show All" at the top of the list. You'll get a new Finder window with the search results. Click on each desired file in turn, and at the bottom of the window, you'll see its location in a file path. You can double-click on any folder in that file path to open a window to that location.

  • Migrate documents from the windows file server into km

    Hi All,
I have around 100 GB of documents in a file server and i want to migrate the same data in to KM.
I am sure that there should be some standard process to do this, can any one please help me out in solving this.
    Thanks
    Ajay

    Hi Ajay,
what do you mean by migrate? You could use a Windows Filessystem KM-Repository to integrated these files directly into KM (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e3/92322ab24e11d5993800508b6b8b11/frameset.htm)
Otherwise you could use WebDAV (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/4a/217fb6c33c6748a1715a161ac942cd/frameset.htm, http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/9600e5391e25dee10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm) or the Portal Drive (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/42/c99b91341a6bade10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm) to copy these files in a (for example) DB repository.
