Migratiion from oracle 7.3.4 to 8i

I am working with a 7.3.4 database. I have existing reports made with oracle report 2.5. The reports are published using oracle report server and r25cgi32 (PDF files).
The database will migrate to 8i. Can i still use report 2.5 and report server 2.5? Do i need to upgrade to another version and wich one?

hello,
i had report made with reports designer 2.5 in oracle 7.3 and
migrating them to 8i, but for those reports when select
statement as follows:
select x1||' '||x2 x, y1||y2 y
from alpha
group by x
order by y
it seems that the report cant identify the renamed column (x and
y) used in the group by and order by clause.
this is still generated using reports designer 2.5
kindly advise.
Thanks

  • Error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from Oracle BPEL..

    Hi ,
    We are facing some error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from our BPEL Process on the windows platform(SOA 10.1.3.3.0).
    For the BPEL process we are following the same steps as given in an AMIS blog : - [http://technology.amis.nl/blog/1607/how-to-call-a-ws-security-secured-web-service-from-oracle-bpel]
    but sttill,after deploying it and passing values in it,we are getting the following error on the console :-
    “Header [http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/08/addressing:Action] for ultimate recipient is required but not present in the message”
    Any pointers in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh

    Hi James,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    We've tried to call that web service from an HTML designed in Visual Studios with the same username and password and its working fine.
    But on the BPEL console, we are getting the error as mentioned.
    Also if you can tell me how to set the user name and password in the header of the parter link.I could not find how to do it.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh

  • Calling web service from oracle forms 10g

    Problem Description:
    I'm following the steps as per the doc:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gr2/howto/webservicefromforms/ws_10_1_3_from_forms.html
    to create a java stub to call external web service and then use java importer in oracle forms to call this web service from oracle forms.
    WSDL for external web service used is http://gend:83/DesignService.svc?wsdl
    The service was developed by us.
    Calling the web service using JDeveloper works fine but when I complie in Oracle Forms it returns wrong number of types of arguments in call SENDHELLO.
    The code from oracle form to call web service is as below:
    DECLARE
    jo ora_java.jobject;
    xo ora_java.jobject;
    rv varchar2(2000);
    ex ora_java.jobject;
    str varchar2(100);
    BEGIN
    jo := GendServiceClient.new;
    rv := GendServiceClient.sendHello('Nora');
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR then
    message('Unable to call out to Java, ' ||ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR);
    WHEN ORA_JAVA.EXCEPTION_THROWN then
    ex := ORA_JAVA.LAST_EXCEPTION;
    message(Exception_.toString(ex));
    END;
    Any help/ideas on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    My primary skill is PL/SQL but the only information I found on Oracle's site to call a web service from a 10g Form was creating a jar file and importing the java class. Since I don't want to ask our corporate IT to make changes on the UNIX box for the jar files I went a different route.
    I use UTL_HTTP.BEGIN_REQUEST to call a URL then load I load the data to a table as a CLOB since we have more than 4000 characters. Now I need to parse the XML and load it into a form. I have never done this so if there is a helpful site please let me know. I have looked at several sites but none do what I want.
    Thanks

    WSDL for external web service used is http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConverter.asmx?wsdl
    Calling the web service using JDeveloper works fine but from Oracle Forms returns ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR; Unable to call out to Java, Invalid object type for argument 1
    The code from oracle form to call web service is as below:
    DECLARE

    Yes, it is the message line - so basically this call fails => rv:= CurrencyConvertorStub.ConversionRate(jo,'CAD','USD'); and control goes in the exception block
    WHEN ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR then
    message('Unable to call out to Java, ' ||ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR);
    Below is the code from java stub that was generated using JDeveloper by using web services stub/skeleton and associating the WSDL

  • Need To Create a table in Sql Server and do some culculation into the table from Oracle and Sql

    Hello All,
    I'm moving a data from Oracle to Sql Server with ETL (80 tables with data) and i want to track the number of records that i moving on the daily basis , so i need to create a table in SQL Server, wilth 4 columns , Table name, OracleRowsCount, SqlRowCount,
    and Diff(OracleRowsCount - SqlRowCount) that will tell me the each table how many rows i have in Oracle, how many rows i have in SQL after ETL load, and different between them, something like that:
    Table Name  OracleRowsCount   SqlRowCount  Diff
    Customer                150                 150
    0
    Sales                      2000                1998
    2
    Devisions                 5                       5
    0
    (I can add alot of SQL Tasks and variables per each table but it not seems logicly to do that, i tryid to find a way to deal with that in vb but i didn't find)
    What the simplest way to do it ?
    Thank you
    Best Regards
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
    According to your description, what you want is an indicator to show whether all the rows are inserted to the destination table. To achieve your goal, you can add a Row Count Transformation following the OLE DB Destination, and redirect bad rows to the Row
    Count Transformation. This way, we can get the count of the bad rows without redirecting these rows. Since the row count value is stored in a variable, we can create another string type variable to retrieve the row count value from the variable used by the
    Row Count Transformation, and then use a Send Mail Task to send the row count value in an email message body. You can also insert the row count value to the SQL Server table through Execute SQL Task. Then, you can check whether bad rows were generated in the
    package by querying this table.

  • Copying from Oracle SQL Developer to Microsoft Word doesn't retain formatting (Font,colors etc)

    Copying from Oracle SQL Developer Worksheet doesn't retain formatting (font,color etc...)in Microsoft Word but copying from other programs such as
    visual studio, chrome browser etc works fine. This doesn't work even after changed the setting to Keep Source formatting of Options-> Copy and Paste Settings

    Hi,
    I notice that you have cross posted in Answers forum and Oracle forum. Have you tried Mr. Peter's suggestion?
    Then, I recommend we check the Word settings:
    1. Go to: Options > Advanced > Cut, Copy and Paste
    2.  Make sure that Use smart cut and paste is ticked.
    3. Click the Settings button next to this option
    4. Make sure that Smart Style
    Behavior is checked.
    If the issue still exists, please upload a sample through One Drive, I want to test.

  • Manually Migrating from Oracle 10g to 11g

    Hello, I'm currently a student in an Oracle DBA class. I'm totally new to the Oracle world.
    One of our final assignments concerns upgrading Oracle instances without the use of DBUA.
    I've currently got Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 and am trying to upgrade to 11.1.0.7.0
    This is all inside of VirtualBox, running Windows Server 2008. I've been using 10g with absolutely no issues for the duration of this class.
    I successfully installed 11g, choosing to install the software only and not use dbua.
    I changed my environment variables to point towards the 10g installation; ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH, and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
    Then logged into 10g's SQLPlus and ran utlu111i.sql, which ran successfully. I issued a shutdown immediate and exited SQLPlus.
    Changed my environment variables to point towards the 11g home and set ORACLE_SID as the 10g database name. I was able to log into 11g's SQL plus, was told I was connected to an idle instance, which I expected. I issued a startup upgrade command, and then attempted to run catupgrd.sql, but got an error stating that I had to run the script from 11g.
    If I don't set the environment variables then when I try to log into 11g's sqlplus, I get an ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error... I've tried reinstalling 11g from scratch, but to no avail. My instructor and I have been emailing back and forth frequently over the past few days but we have not been able to reach a solution, so I thought I would see if I could pick your brains.
    Here's all of the terminal output from the process:

    Your instance is started from the 10g ORACLE_HOME. You mentioned you started it from the 11g ORACLE_HOME but it's not the case.
    Here is an example with a 10gR2 database started from a 11gR2 ORACLE_HOME :
    SQL> startup upgrade pfile =/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/dbs/initP102.ora

    With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing optionsNotice the Disconnected from Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 part.
    In your case it was Disconnected from Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0
    To solve the issue follow the official documentation, you have specific actions with oradim etc. to do (it's always a bit more complicated than with Unix/Linux but it's documented) :

  • Problem after upgradation from Oracle 8.1.7 to Oracle 9i

    Hello ,
    I currently installed Oracle 9i, and i m using Mapx 4.5,
    and in the executable I am adding serverlayer
    (a layer formed by querying the geoloc column from oracle
    table), which was working fine with Oracle 8.1.7, but after
    installation of Oracle 9i , i encounter the following error
    while adding a serverlayer
    ORA-13373 Element of type Extent is not supported for Geodetic
    data
    Cause: Element type extent for a polygon geometry is not
    supported for
    geodetic data.
    Action: Convert the extent type polygon to a regular 5 point
    polygon
    and set
    etype accordingly.
    ORA-06512 at string line string
    Cause: Backtrace message as the stack is unwound by unhandled
    exceptions.
    Action: Fix the problem causing the exception or write an
    exception
    handler
    for this condition. Or you may need to contact your application
    administrator or database administrator
    Can anybody tell me what's going wrong ?
    As I urgently got to fix it.
    Thanks in advance
    Binoy.

    Hi,
    Oracle9i has a geodetic data model. Your data has a geodetic
    srid, which means that the data will need to conform to the rules
    associated with geodetic data. These rules include:
    No optimized rectangles are supported (my guess is the app is
    using an optimized rectangle as a query window, but the data
    could be the issue also).
    No arcs or circle types are supported.
    A single line segment cannot be equal to or greater than 1/2 the
    great circle distance.
    A polygon cannot have an area equal to or greater than 1/2 the
    surface area of the earth.
    You should try to find what version of Mapx supports Oracle9i.
    Regards,
    dan

  • Transfer structure sql2000 from Oracle Designer6.0

    I would like to tranfer data (structure) of the SQL Server 7.0/2000 from Oracle through of the Designer 6.0.
    I tried with script of the Erwin, but I don4t get.
    As I can make that?

    Why not use the Oracle Migration Workbench to migrate your SQL Server 2000 database. Once you have completed the migration you can simply import it into Designer, if you want to manipulate it from there.

  • Get date from Oracle when local time zone is different from Oracle time zon

    Hi!
    Local machine time zone= +2
    Oracle time zone= +1
    I set date to Oracle using java.sql.Date.
    From application I save date at 00:30 clock and send e.g. 28.06.2002, but in Oracle date is save as 27.06.2002 01:00 (hour=01 , I suppose that is because java.sql.Date hasn't time the Oracle set it time = time zone=+1) And when I get date from Oracle I get incorrect date. In SQL I don't use date masks. Maybe solution is to use java.sql.Timestamp object (when save date to Oracle) instead of java.sql.Date?
    But if I save date at e.g. 01:00 clock and send e.g. 28:06.2002 in Oracle, date is save as 28.06.2002 01:00 and when I read from Oracle I get correct date.
    Thank you.

    And when I get date from Oracle I get
    incorrect date. In SQL I don't use date masks. Maybe
    solution is to use java.sql.Timestamp object (when
    save date to Oracle) instead of java.sql.Date?The method setDate/getDate store a 'date' which is not the same as a 'date and time' for which setTimestamp/getTimestamp are used.
    But if I save date at e.g. 01:00 clock and send e.g.
    28:06.2002 in Oracle, date is save as 28.06.2002
    01:00 and when I read from Oracle I get correct date.

  • Passing a value for date parameter from Oracle Forms to BIP

    Hi
    I have created a report with the following SQL query:
    select
    d_tables.d_seq,
    to_date(d_tables.d_created) creation_date,
    d_tables.d_created_by created_by,
    d_tables.d_pk,
    d_tables.table_name,
    d_tables.comments
    from
    d_tables, d_applications
    where
    d_tables.d_ppk = d_applications.d_pk
    and to_date(d_tables.d_created) >= nvl(:P_CRE_DATE_FROM, to_date(d_tables.d_created))
    and to_date(d_tables.d_created) <= nvl(:P_CRE_DATE_TO, to_date(d_tables.d_created))
    The parameters P_CRE_DATE_FROM and P_CRE_DATE_TO have been set up as date in BI Publisher with format dd-MMM-yyyy
    The report works fine when launched in BI Publisher.
    I want to call this report from Oracle Forms and I'm trying to pass the values for both the parameters. However, the report does not generate output based on values passed.
    Does it have to do with datatype? Does anyone know a solution for this?
    Kind regards,
    Aparna

    Thanks for your suggestion. I am already referring to the whitepaper and have integrated Forms with BI Publisher. The parameter passing is working fine for a varchar2 type of parameter. However, for a date type, there seems to be some problem.

  • Tnsping timed out using dg4odbc from Oracle to MYSQL through ODBC

    Hi,
    I encountered problem when trying to connect from Oracle to MYSQL using dg4odbc, hope you can shed some light
    Oracle database is 11.1.0.7 on SUSE Linux 64-bit.
    Since the application which runs on MYSQL DB only offers ODBC driver on Windows platform, so I installed the 32-bit ODBC driver (from ServiceNow) on a 32-bit windows server (driver download from http://wiki.service-now.com/index.php?title=ODBC_Driver) .
    created system DSN: MYSQLDEV, The DSN connection works fine. I then installed Oracle 11.2.0.1 gateway for ODBC 32-bit on the same windows server, the following configurations were done:
    On 32-bit Windows server:
    in gatewayHome\hs\admin
    initMYSQLDEV.ora:

    if listener is not listening to the service, then the tnsping on the windows server should fail as well.
    I don't know why only the tnsping from Linux failed, is it due to the 32-bit ODBC uncompatibility with 64-bit oracle server? or my configuration problem?
    Of course, when I created the DB link from oracle, the connection failed with

    Hi!
    I am using Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition 9.2.0.6

    I have been searching the reason and solution on net since last 2 days but hasn't find it yet.
    would anybody plz help me regarding this.
    Thanks
    Hassan

    I checked your suggestions after week end today and found that
    the suggestion of Nalla did not provide the result in my required format
    rewrite it as l_email_text := l_email_text||CHR(10)||l_exm_text;
    Peter & Krithika:
    I used html tag <BR> when and where needed and its gave me result in my required format
    e.g.: l_exm_text := l_exm_text ||'<br>'||rec_examined_ctrs.category ||': '||
    rec_examined_ctrs.total;
    Now I want to know if there any html tag thru which I can define the column number so that my text will start from there.
    means any html tag replacement of lpad (oracle funtion):
    Thanks
    Hassan
