Migration of interactive forms

Hello,
we are currently thinking about using interacitve forms (sfp) for  printing  the SD Standard forms (oder confirmation, delivery note, invoice, etc.)
Because the regarding forms are not yet available in ERP 6.0, we are thinking about migrating them with the smartforms migation-wizard and switch the runtime.
Has anybody practical experience with this procedure?
Is any information available when SAP delivers the standard forms?
Regards,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
I Don't have experience in migrating smartforms to adobe forms but have experience in creating adobe forms from scratch. On this link you can find a pdf document which explains how to create adobe forms in transaction SFP.

I think it will help.
Reward points if it helps.

  • Large interactive form ( ZCI layout ) SAVE problem

    Hi Experts,
    Please advice.
    We migrated our interactive forms to ZCI layout and they work fine.
    But when the form size exceeds 2 MB (this varies), we observed the following two cases.
    <b>Case 1 )</b> In upload of an offline form, on 'ShowForm' action, the form opens, but when the 'SAVE' button ( placed in the webdynpro and not on the adobe form) is pressed, the browser shows the processing icon, but nothing happens at the server side. The corresponding action method is not called.
    If the size of the form is small, then it executes successfully.
    <b>Case 2)</b> During upload of the offline form ( only when large form), on 'ShowForm', after showing processing icon for a long time, nothing happens and the following exception is thrown.
    <b>Initial exception</b> --   java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out

  • Interactive form in smartform

    hi...
    what is an interactive form in smartform?
    which comes under migration menu...
    thank you..

    Hi,
       Interactive form is the next version of the smartform with more functionality and flexibility.In migration menu it displays as convert the smartform into adobe form(interactive form).
    Generally adobe forms are classified as 2 types.
    1. adobe print form. : it looks just like smartform ,but only additional function is o/p will display in PDF    format and we can save that pdf file.
    2.adobe interactive format: here textboxes are editable,buttons have events. Here we have to handle the events for making the form interactive. This form o/p also display in pdf along with user can enter some values and make some actions.
    When smartform migrate to interactive form means,generally it creates interface and form. Interface has the parameters for impoting,exporting,table.Form has just layout. when ever we want data parameters just bind the form context with interface parameters.
    I think this discussion will help you.
    Thanks,
    Suma.

  • Interactive Forms - Printing in mySAP ERP

    Dear All.
        As far i Know, in the version ECC 5.0 some SmartsForns have been suffers a migrations to Interactive Forms. As far has i know in the release ECC 6.0 all the Smartforms and the old Sapscript will be convert to Interactive Forms. Is this Correct?
         Where can i find information about this Topic (Use off Interactive Forms/Smartforms in ECC 6.0).
         Is the Interactive Form the new methodo to Print? I think it will be, but a need a confirmation.
    Best Regards
    Thanks In advanced
    Pedro Miguel Rodrigues

    Hi Pedro,
    the few PDF-based forms shipped in mySAP ERP 2004 (ECC 5.0) are samples only for customers to familiarize themselves with the technology. As it states in SAP Note 735050, these are not for use in production.
    In mySAP ERP 2005 (ECC 6.0), SAP ships about 900 PDF-based forms for printing. For existing forms, the Smart or SAPscript form is still shipped with ERP 2005, and it continues to be the default setting for this release. (If you wish to use the Interactive Forms technology, you need to specify this in the application customizing.) Some new forms are shipped based only on the Adobe technology.
    The current plan is to ship only PDF-based forms with the next release of mySAP ERP.
    While it is SAP's strategy to eventually only ship form templates in PDF, you will continue to be able to choose the forms technology you want to use as Smart Forms and SAPscript will continue to be supported. In mySAP ERP 2005, the performance of PDF-based forms shipped by SAP in some cases is not equal to the legacy solutions. Especially for very high-volume printing requirements, Smart Forms or SAPscript may still be a better choice, but it is not possible to make a general recommendation on this as it all depends on the complexity of the individual form and the number of print-outs.
    It is important to note that to take advantage of all performance features in ERP 2005, you will need a double-stack installation (Java and ABAP on the same box).
    Kind regards,
    Markus Meisl

    This may caused by:
    1, ReaderRights
    2, Destination ConfigPort_Document
    It seems you have already confirmed point 1, so please check point 2.
    Also check SAP note 1443819 part "Check the configuration", if the service is not working, you have to config the service according to SAP note 1443819.

  • Migration of Smartforms to Adobe interactive forms

    Dear all,
    We are facing problem while we migrate a smartform to Adobe interactive forms (i.e through export and switch to runtime). All things got messed up like formats data, etc., Is there any way to generate the layout similar to smartforms.

  • Migrating PCR frontend-JSP forms to Adobe interactive forms-WD Abap Comp

    Hi All,
    We are currently on Netweaver 7.0 & ECC 6.0 and ESS - MSS Business Package 50.4. We are using JSP Forms on portal front for Personnel Change Requests (PCR's ) where in all the scenarios in the backend are heavily customized with good amount of usage of Javascripts. For certain scenarios, where in a huge amount of information is fetched from ECC 6.0 backend system, JSP are performing really bad and the total time taken to display the form is actually causing a lot of irritation to the end user.
    We are planning to propose an upgrade to SAP adobe interactive forms. The prerequisite is that the business wants to reuse all the customized scenarios without any changes and just want to move towards better front end forms.
    My questions are:
    1. Please list benefits of SAP Adobe interactive forms - ABAP component over JSP forms (performance wise)
    2. Issues with SAP Adobe Interactive forms?
    3. Since Javascripts do not work in Webdynpro ABAP. How can we implement those front end checks and validations.
    3. Any other options available for UI that can be suggested?
    All suggestions are welcome. Quick response is appreciated.
    Thanks a lot for your time and help.
    Best Regards,
    Anupama

    Is your performance issue with the Javascript with JSP pages?  or the Java script you are using within the Adobe form in your WDJ custom application using Adobe form? I have worked on PCR's using ISR framework old school it used to call as PCR and now HCM Processes and form, Developed PCR's using WDJ also integrated workflow with the WDJ PCR for approval(we never had any performance issue) infact ISR frame work was kind of slow compare to custom WDJ solution and less flexible for a developer to develop.
    I have also worked created WDA custom application for PCR's , WDA is definitely better when you compare it with WDJ but I have not seen much performance issue with WDJ atleast on custom PCR solutions.
    I don't have any case study to share with you, can you please tell what kind of PCR's your client is using and what kind of performance issue you are experiencing and where and why you guys are using Javascript.

  • Problem with interactive forms using ABAP

    Hi all,
        I am trying to create an interactive adobe form using ABAP in ECC 6.0. But while execute the form, it is creating an error saying that
    Exception       SYSTEM_ERROR
    Message ID:          FPRUNX                     Message number:           001
    Message:
    ADS: The render error log file has been written to D:\u(200101)
    But i was able to create adobe interactive form using WebDynpro and its working perfectly. But the problem is while using ABAP method.
    Do anyone have an idea why its happening?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Raja Sekhar

    Hi
    Interactive Forms based on Adobe software is SAP's new solution for forms development. Its first release has the focus on interactive use of forms. High-volume printing is supported in principle, but - being a new solution - the performance has not yet reached the same level as Smart Forms or SAPscript, two established solutions that had years to grow. Interactive Forms is the only solution that will continue to be enhanced with new features, while SAPscript and Smart Forms will be supported without limitations.
    When (or if) to move to Interactive Forms depends on your requirements. For interactive forms usage, i.e. the new functions, you have no choice, as the existing solutions don't support it. High-volume print scenarios need to be carefully analyzed to see whether your concrete requirements can be met at this point.
    However, it is possible to move to Smart Forms and design your forms in such a way that a migration at any point in the future would be but a small step. Smart Forms offers from Web AS 6.40 a migration wizard to Interactive Forms. Technically, everything can be migrated, but we recommend against things like ABAP program nodes, for example.
    You are not forced to ever go to Interactive Forms if you don't want to. It really depends on whether your client needs any of the new features in Interactive Forms. Also, if they are currently working with JetForms, they could enquire with Adobe directly what migration path they offer to the joint solution.
    It is impossible to make a blanket statement on what needs to be done in each of the applications using a form for output. Despite the same underlying technology, forms handling has always been a decision for each SAP application: Some do it through customizing, some through coding, some in yet anither way.
    What I CAN say from a technology pespective is that all applications are in the process of creating their forms based on Interactive Forms so that by 2007 pretty much all SAP forms will be PDF-based. Obviously, each application does it within the framework of their application - but they all use Interactive Forms.
    By the way, be aware that in ERP 2004 this forms solution is subject to a limitation for high-volume printing scenarios as we cannot ensure that ALL customers will be content with the performance in ALL scenarios with this release. (see SAP Note 863893).
    To get an overview idea about Adobe forms ,
    Using SFP , first you need to create a interface . in interface you can declare the import and export parameters and also the declaration part, coding etc : This is nothing but similar to Function module interface.
    And now we have to create the Form which is interactive. Create the form and enter the interface name which you have created in first step, so that the parameters , declarations of fields etc : will be copied and available in the form layout. So that you can drag and drop these declared fields ( dclared fields of interface ) to the layout.
    Create the context and layout in the form.
    The layout generated can be previewed and saved as PDF output.
    Now we need to integrate the driver program and the PDF form to get the final output as per the requirement.
    On activating and executing the form you will get a function module name just similar to smartforms.
    The driver program needs to call this FM.
    Refer to the below sample code :
    DATA : is_customer TYPE scustom.
    DATA : it_bookings TYPE ty_bookings.
    DATA : iv_image_url TYPE string.

  • How do you convert Smart Forms to Interactive forms

    I believe it is possible to convert SAP Smart Forms to Interactive Forms.
    Has anyone done this? If so could you tell me the steps?
    Thanks
    Patrick

    Let me add that the settings of the wizard that come up are the SAP-recommended ones. They refer to the parts of Smart Forms that migrate relatively easily.
    SAP-internal experience over the last 3 years has shown that in most cases Smart Forms are very complex, and that it is therefore easier and less time-consuming to
    1. analyze the Smart Form carefully
    2. separate each business form into a separate form template
    3. re-create the Smart Form in the Interactive Forms solution from scratch.
    The hardest thing to overcome within SAP's development community (though very, very important!) was to discard the Smart-Forms- or SAPscript-minded approach to form design/development, and instead accept a new approach.

  • Smartforms or Adobe Interactive Forms?

    Hello Folks,
      my client currently are beginning the decision making process to replace all of their current Jetform based SAP printing solution to a newer more stable solution - and they are interested in the possible options available.
    Note that this is a major project as we have to migrate all documents (invoices, orders, POs, account statements etc) defined in multi languages and versions. Currently we are running SAP4.6C - but there is the possibility of an upgrade in the near future too.
    To me the most stable alternative right now appears to be SAP smartforms - as this is a tried, proven and well integrated technology. Now I read here about the possibilities offered by Adobe interactive forms - and that from 6.40 onwards they will be integrated into the ABAP workbench. It is not clear to me though if Adobe interactive forms are intended to replace Smartforms or if they are merely an alternative approach - and what the pros and cons are of each technique.
    Also it is not clear to me how well Adobe forms can be integrated with standard NAST table style output control - is it possible to integrate adobe forms to the standard output control?
    What we are really concerned with is that we spend a lot of effort migrating to Smartforms only to find out that it is yesterdays technology and that we subsequently have to remigrate to Adobe interactive forms...
    Can anyone there at SAP or on SDN provide any advice as to the pros and cons of the Smartform solution when compared with Adobe interactive forms, and any advice you can offer as to which solution to opt for in our migration project?

    Hi Julian,
    it sounds to me that all your current forms are output forms (for printing, faxing, e-mailing, etc.) i.e. non-interactive.
    Hope this helps.

Also, if they are currently working with JetForms, they could enquire with Adobe directly what migration path they offer to the joint solution.

    example
    To get an overview idea about Adobe forms ,
    Using SFP Tcode , first you need to create a interface . in interface you can declare the import and export parameters and also the declaration part, coding etc : This is nothing but similar to Function module interface.
    DATA : iv_sending_country TYPE adrc-country.

  • Regarding Migration to Adobe Forms

    Hi Friends
       I am working on adobe print forms.
    I have one doubt that is  If SAP itself providing the option <b>migrate smartform to Adobe Interactive form,</b> what's the necessity to create the forms from scratch i.e why we have to create Interface,Context and Forms.
    Is we get any flwas by simply migrating the smartform to adobe interactive form?
    Please anyone explain me?
    Points are assured for useful ansers.
    Regards,
    Sree

    yes u can convert smartform into pdf. follow these steps.
    1. first call your smart form as u do.
    e.g. CALL FUNCTION '/1BCDWB/SF00000127'
    in this just activate these two also
       IMPORTING
       DOCUMENT_OUTPUT_INFO       = it_tab1
    and this internal table (it_tab1) it will store the data of smart form.
    2. then call fm to convert it_tab1 data into pdf.
    call  convert_otf
    and in this fm just pass it_tab1.
      EXPORTING
        format = 'DOC'
      IMPORTING
        bin_filesize = v_pdf_len
      TABLES
        otf   = it_tab1
        lines = pdf_table
      EXCEPTIONS
        err_max_linewidth     = 1
        err_format            = 2
        err_conv_not_possible = 3
        err_bad_otf           = 4
        OTHERS                = 5.
    3. now u can save this fm on your local system.
    second method
    apart from allowing sap to convert your smart form to pdf u can also do it by downloading two software files
    and then install it in your local system.
    links for those files are.
    http://www.pdf995.com/download.html
    and download pdf printer driver from here
    after that goto printer setup and make PDF995 as default printer.
    and finally when your smart form is ready to print just click on print button then as your default printer is pdf995 it will convert your smartform into pdf and that u can save it in your system.
    plz reward point .
