Migration query

Hi All,
i want to migrate my Essbse cubes and FR reports from 7 to 9,
1. i read tht we have to run migration utility from Shared Services to migrate cubes and reports is tht true, if it is not can you suggest me with right way of doing migration
2. and even i read tht we have to run migration.exe file in 7.x, which is the bast and good way to migrate
3. and we are about to install Essbase and shred services 9 on one server and reports 9 in another server will that be fine or it should be reverse way or three different tools should be installed in three differ servers

but where can i get this Reporting & Analysis Migration Utility is it avaliable in FR and Web Analysis tool in a menu bar or tool bar
or Reporting & Analysis Migration Utility is seperate tool to be installed.

Copy and Migrate query from BI 3.x to 7.0

Hello Experts,
We are going through the upgrade right now.
We have BI 3.x server and we are upgrading it to BI 7.0.
Now we have nearly 3200 queries, we want to copy those queries from BI 3.x to BI 7.0, and then we want to save it in BI 7.0.
So we will be able to keep the back up in BI 3.x.
As i have told you, we have lots of queries, so practically it is not phisible to go to BI 7.0 browser, open each query and save as with some different name.
Is there any other way for this?

You can open and edit queries from SAP BW 3.x with the BEx Query Designer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0, as required. However, as soon as you save a query, it is stored as an SAP NetWeaver 7.0 query. Queries from SAP BW 3.x and SAP NetWeaver 7.0 are stored in the same tables. Only the version information is adjusted as required.
Once you process and save queries with the BEx Query Designer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0, you can no longer open them with the BEx Query Designer from SAP BW 3.x. The queries are still displayed in the open dialog for the BEx Query Designer from SAP BW 3.x, but cannot be selected.
The reusable components of a query (structures, restricted and calculated key figures, variables) are also saved in the new version; this can result in dependencies to other queries. Likewise, these dependent queries can also only be opened with the BEx Query Designer from SAP NetWeaver 7.0. For information about eliminating these dependencies, see SAP Note 884629, which provides details about restoring temporarily stored queries
I am not sure but I heard that basis persons Can do migrate all queries from BW3.5 version to BI 7.0 at a time.Consult those persons you may get some idea

Database migration query not executing in database

We moved over our SQL database to another server. We have a few .cfm template files that have queries to get 'content' from our database. These queries in the .cfm template files work fine and execute properly. However, for some reason, since we moved over our database, the queries in the actual database don't execute/run anymore. In the old server we didn't have this problem. Our queries in the database would run properly then. The data would display correctly on the webpages.
Is there some kind of properties setup that was overlooked when migrating over our database?
The output we now see when viewing our pages is the actual query code.
Example:
SELECT lname
FROM table
This is actually displayed on the website and therefore the query is not executing/running. Our code was never changed. So why is it not outputting the same?

Sorry for the confusion.
The coldfusion templates and database queries both worked fine on the previous old server.
Now since the migration onto the new server, only the coldfusion templates work fine, but not the queries in the database.
So for example, a query in the coldfusion template will run fine, and execute the intial pull of data. But once the content is pulled from the database, the queries inside the database (including stored procedures) don't execute.
We do get the expected results when we run our stored procedure in Management Studio and if we put the stored procedure on a standalone web page we do see the records.
We only see the sql code when we have the stored procedure inside of our w_content table of our database, and its being called by the first query in the template. For some odd reason the stored procedure does not execute if it is inside the database.
Hopefully that clarifies our problem.

You can, but you have to declare your variables and use an anonymous PL/SQL block - something like

Email Account Migration - Query re IMAP v POP

I have a query about the migration from Yahoo to BT Email, apologies if it has been raised before.
I currently use Mozilla Thunderbird on two PCs. I'm using IMAP, which synchronises both PCs with my email account such that all emails in all folders look the same on both devices, if my understanding is correct. BT have told me that I'm being migrated to their new email service next week, and I need to change my settings from IMAP to POP in order to continue using Thunderbird. However, their explanation implies that this synchronisation will no longer happen when using POP. Is this correct? If so, how on earth do I get email on all my devices to look the same? It doesn't sound like much of an upgrade to me. Hopefully I've got it wrong, but could some kind soul enlighten me without getting too technical? Many thanks in advance.

To make your life easy with the migration you should make your MyBT BTID your primary BT email address and password prior to the migration. ie. when you log onto MyBT you have to use your email address and password. ( Not the best most secure thing BT have thought of but it is what they are wanting at the moment) If you do that once you are migrated you need to log on to BTMail via
https://signin1.bt.com/login/emailloginform
and it will take you through the migration process which is fairy straight forward.

Error while migrating query

Hi All,
In our project, we have several queries which were created in Bex 3.x version. While migrating them to 7.0 version i got the error which is shown below, many a times
Errors: BEx transport request" is not available or not suitable.
Errors: Choose an existing request.
How can i resolve this issue...
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Poor query performance only with migrated 7.0 queries

Dear Team,
We are facing a serious query performance issue after migration of queries from 3.5 to 7.0.
I executed a query in 3.5 with some variable values which takes fraction of seconds to display the output. But the same migrated query with same variable entries is taking very long time and giving time out error.
We are not using any aggregates in the InfoProvider level.
Both the queries are based on same cube but 3.5 query is taking less time and 7.0 is taking very long time if more selection is done.
I checked for notes where I didn't find specific note for this particular scenario. I found notes only for general query performance improvement.
I want to know the reason why only in 7.0 the same 3.5 query is taking a long time and giving time out error. And please suggest some notes or suggestions related to this scenario.

Hi,
Queries in BI 7.0 are almost the same as queries in 3.x format.
inorder to check if the problem is in the query runtime (database time) or JAVA runtime (probably rendering) you should try running it from RSRT once in JAVA web and once in ABAP web.
if the problem is only with JAVA web, than u should take the URL and add &profiling=X at the end.
after the query execution u can use statistics which will be shown at the top of the page.
With my experience, the problem is in the rendering phase of the query. Things that could be done is to limit the number of rows shown at each page, that could be done by changing the 0ANALYSIS web template - it's one of the web template parameters.

Cash flow statement Query

Hi,
I had used the RSZC transaction to migrate query 0FIGL_VC1_Q0002 - Cash flow statement, based on 0FIGL_VC1 to a custom virtual cube which extracts data from a cube containing general ledger accounting (New) data. on execution of the query, no data is displayed.
In a similar fashion the query 0FIGL_V10_Q0001, which is based on virtual cube 0FIGL_V10 was migrated to the same custom virtual cube and was found to be executing.
has anyone faced similar issue with cash flow statement query?

Left outer join BO5.1universe-migrated to BOXI left outer join missing(DB2)

Two tables are joined using left outer join in BO 5.1 universe which is using DB2 database. When we migrated this universe to BO XI R2, the same join is existing at universe level but missing at the report level .

I've found similar behaviour but with SQL server database (also migrating from 5.1.6 to XiR2)
You can also add the parameter EXT_JOIN_INVERT = Yes to your parameter screen in designer
Maybe this wil help? (it did the trick for me)
If this doesn't work...
Also check your appropriate db2 PRM file for the same parameters:
<Instal location>\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\dataAccess\connectionServer\db2
I'm not sure how what is used when or maybe both but it has got something to do with those 2 options(parameter screen in designer vs. PRm file on server)

Access Query to Oracle View Tool

We have a Access Database which creates forms and reports. It has lots of queries. we want the similar funtionalities in Oracle. Is there any tool that will convert these access queries to Oracle views. I used Migration workbench to convert the database but it can't convert the query.

Microsoft Access is using ANSI SQL. And Oracle has introduced ANSI SQL from Oracle 9i so, it is also in 10g.
Oracle 10g does not stop backward compatibilty so, It is depends on person. And I am not forcing you to migrate query from ACCESS to Oracle. I have simply answer the question which you have asked. Whether you want to perform efficiently or not it's your choice.
But one thing is sure, ORACLE (9i or 10g) provides ANSI SQL and MS ACCESS is using ANSI sql so, this task is feasible. No doubt about it.

Access Query to Oracle Query conversion

I am converting an Access database to Oracle 8.1.6.
There are lot of reports in Access. HOw can I convert the Access
query to Oracle equivalent query??? Is there any tool available

Blank values returned from SQL Server Convert to Query Template

I am attempting to migrate Query Templates from Oracle to SQL Server. In the Oracle version I am using TO_CHAR to convert a date to a particular string format. To return the same string format in SQL Server I have to use CONVERT. The TO_CHAR returns a value which is displayed by the Query Template Test function. However, in the case of the CONVERT a blank is returned even though it works perfectly well when I run the same query in SQL Server Management Studio. Can anyone tell me why is this happening or suggest a fix? Thanks. John.

Glad that did the trick.
Native client tools like SQLPlus, Toad, Query Analyzer, etc. will often not care about column names, sometimes labelling the column as the full messy expression and sometimes calling it Expr1, but when doing aggregate expression or conversion type columns in an MII query you should adopt the habit of aliasing the columns in the query.
What a better way to control the situation than to dictate it in your request

Bex Mihration Issue while comparing the results of Bex analyzer

Dear Experts,
Currenlty i am working on a Bex migration project and we are still in the research and analysis phase. We have been migrating some queries and workbooks in sandbox for analysing the final approach we would be following eventually. For migration we first make a copy of the query and then migrate the copy to the 7.0 version. So after migration the formats in the report generated by Bex analyzer 7.0 of the migrated query and the one generated by Bex analyzer 3.x of the orignal query are quite different.
Can you help me figure out the reason behind this difference in the formats and how to go about it.

Send to Broadcaster button in 0Analysis_pattern

Hi Experts,
We are in process of migrating our system from 3.5 to Netweaver 2004s.
When we try executing the 'Send' button for broadcaster after running a migrated query on portal, it doesn't open the broadcaster. Instead, it opens a blank 3.5 web template.
Kindly mention if we have to do any further settings for the same. The same button works fine in quality system but it does not in development system. Both systems have same template settings.

Hi Manoj,
We switched on the trace and then tried the 'Send' button. We noticed that in the quality system, the template 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE70 is called whereas in the development system (where we are facing the issue), this template is not being called.
Also, the notes you mentioned say that as a prerequisite/ reason, the system uses load balancing. But we use load balancing only in our production system and we are facing the problem elsewhere. Nevertheless, we implemented the note 972514 in our testing system but it still did not solve the problem.
Do we need to activate any settings in the development system for this template to be called on clicking the 'Send' Button?

Query is taking long time to execute after migrating to 10g r2

We recently migrated the database from 9i to 10gr2 ((10.2.0.2.0).. This query was running in acceptable time before the upgrade in 9i.. Now it is taking a long long time to execute this... Can you please let me know what should i do to improve the performance now.. We are running stats everyday..

Hi,
The plan between 9i and 10g is pretty the same but the amount of data fetched has considerably increased. I guess the query was performing slow even in 9i.
The AR_CASH_RECEIPT_HISTORY_ALL is presently having 332000 rows in 10g where as it was 17532 in 9i.
AR_CASH_RECEIPT_HISTORY_N2 is now having 332,000 rows in 10g where as in 9i it had 1,740
Try creating some indexes on
AR_CASH_RECEIPTS_ALL
hz_cust_accounts
