Missing the FF4 "Simplified Reload/Stop Button"

After upgrading to Firefox4, I noticed I'm missing the new "Simplified Reload/Stop Button" that is supposed to be in the address bar.
It's mentioned on the features page:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/features
I started with a customized theme - just had the back/forward/ buttons placed on the "Menu Bar" tab. After the upgrade I had to move them around a bit, so I figured my customized theme must have interfered with something. I tried re-applying the standard theme but it didn't do the trick.
Is this just a case of applying a standard theme to get back to the default layout, or do I have to do something different. It's not a huge deal to me (I feel silly for writing a support ticket), but I would like to get to the standard FF4 layout.

Open Firefox SafeMode and use '''Reset Toolbars and Controls'''. <br />
1.You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut. <br />
2. Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut to open it again.''

  • I hate this new combined reload/stop button.

First off they should be separate and second on the left hand side where it more useful. At least with Firefox 4 you could do this but not with Firefox 5. I can separate them but not move them. How do I do this?

To move the Stop and Reload buttons to their position to the left of the location bar you can use these steps:
    * Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * Drag the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position to the left of the location bar.
    * Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
    * Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise (Space or Separator) to get two distinct buttons.
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"

  • With the last download I lost my refresh and stop button. That whole little row. How do I get it back?

All i have now is the row with..
    1 file edit etc..
2 web address and then search block
    3 missing
4 most visited getting started etc..
    5 tabs
I really miss being able to refresh a page or stop the page from loading! What can I do?

Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload, Stop, & Go button that appears at the right end of the location bar. Only one function is ever active at any one time, so combining them save UI space was a good idea. When a page is loading, it is a "Stop" button, when it finished loading, it turns into a "Reload" button, and when you start to type something into the Location bar it turns into a "Go" button.
To restore the Firefox 3 appearance you can use these steps:
    * Open the "View > Toolbars > '''Customize'''" window or right-click a vacant area on a Toolbar, ''except fot the Bookmarks Toolbar''.
    * Then drag'n'drop the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the Location bar.
    # Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
    # Set the order to "Stop - Reload" to separate them and get two distinct buttons.

  • How do I get all the control buttons in one place in 3.6.16, like they used to be in previous versions? Having the refresh and stop buttons between address and search windows, and the home button to the far right is awful.

In 3.6.16, the buttons are all over the place. In previous versions, the forward, back, refresh, stop and home buttons were all together. In this version, the refresh and stop buttons are between the address and search windows, and the home button to the far right.
I would love to have them all together as they used to be - much more user friendly that way. I have tried installing alternate themes, but the coding of this version over-rides the themes.

  • Why no mention of the stop button on mp3 playe

only one small problem, wheres the STOP button
i've looked and looked, cant find it, im pausing it, im switching it off
but no sign of a bloody stop button, either on the machine or in the booklet
so i register here and try a search, i find lots of questions about a stop button
lots of good answers and it all make sense, but if its that obvious and makes complete sense
why dont creative put it in the booklets?
i dont want or need one, but i would like to know i dont want or need one
why keep the information a secret?
oh the touch is a the biz, love it

    hi trance
thanks for the reply, sorry i rambled you may have missed my point
i dont require a stop button, i quite like the fact that pause /play do the job better
what i and others would like though, is somebody incuding it in big letters in the booklet
a phrase like "oh for the dummies, theres no STOP button" and small explanation why
thers 70 odd pages in the cd manual im sure somebody could fit that in.....

  • Is it possible to change the link to the WMP of the Play/Pause/Stop buttons

Is it possible to change the link to the WMP of the Play/Pause and Stop Button?
Because by software only the Network and Media Buttons are changable.
And I don't prefer WMP to be my favorite media player.

I used to have this problem too. When pressing +play/pause+ button on my +Satellite+ always wmp start. I used RM-X media to configure media keys, or Global Hotkeys in Winamp to solve this problem, but in case of +play/pause+ it was still the same. I found simple solution how to use this key in Winamp - assaying Winamp as default media player in Control panel/Add remove programs. And then in specific application edit file associations.

  • Stop button to reinitialize c-RIO module values

As you can see, the program has 2 stop buttons.  The one inside the tab is to stop charging of an electric vehicle prototype whereas the one outside is for stopping the while loop and labview program. Both stop buttons are wired to the same conditions except the additional function of the 2nd stop button for passing notification i.e.:
The labview program is connected to the EV hardware through c-RIO system via ethernet, which uses NI 9411 for updating the charging status of the EV prototype. The issue is: while the 1st stop button causes the counter value of NI 9411 to fall thus updating the charging status of EV, the 2nd one just stops the program and goes back to the first page and the status remains the same (even though this can be modified for display in the labview program, it cannot be changed in the hardware). What do i need to do to update EV status before stop button makes the program exit and goes back to the start page of the program?

    Hi!
I read your question (and GerdW's answers) to be a request for a piece of code to fix your problems. I think what you really need is to take the time to have a look at some design patterns for code, and figure out how it can be used to solve your particular problems. Use the LabVIEW Example Finder (Help -> Example FInder) to look for examples that come with LabVIEW! My suggestions:
Event Structures: This is a structure specifically designed to catch user driven events, such as clicking a button, and executing a certain piece of code in accordance with the input. Example: Clicking the "stop button" might start some code that gracefully shuts down your program.
State Machines: A state machine is a structure usually built using a while loop and a case structure containing pieces of code that perform specific tasks (e.g. "initialize", "check conditions", "idle", "charge" and so on). Each state/case determines in some way what should be the next state to execute. Passing states to the next iteration can be done with queues or shift registers.
    Good Luck!

so i bought one of the creative zen touch mp3 players yesterday and i really like it...i have songs DLed on it already...there is just one problem, and i know this is going to sound really stupid...but i can't find the stop button. when i want to stop the song from playing i have to just shut it off completely. maybe its just me and i cant seem to find the correct button, or maybe there just isnt one. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS?!? thanks!!

melinda: See the link "why the players have no stop button" in the FAQ post.
Aaron-XP wrote:Well, not quite. To stop as you usually do on the diskman or walkman, press pause and back. I think this has something to do with damaging the hard-dri've if the stop button is used too often.
Nope, in fact it's basically due to the way CD and cassette players worked. They are constantly spinning the disc (in the case of CDs) or have the play/record head pushed against the tape (in the case of cassettes). Both cause wear and tear, so a stop button stops the disc spinning and removes the head from the tape, respecti'vely. A digital player doesn't need a stop button from a technical standpoint as there's no disc to stop (the hard disk only spins up when required) and no tape head. Some MP3 players have a stop button e.g. the NJB, 2 & 3, to reproduce the functionality, but from a minimalist standpoint it's not required.

  • Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar in ff4? It isn't included in the Customize box. Is there anyway to install the "Stop" button for loading web pages or is this option compeletly gone from Firefox now?

Just installed upgrade to Firefox 4.0. Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar. I checked the Customize dialogue box and it isn't included. Is anyone else missing it? Is there anyway to install the "Stop" button for loading web pages or is this option completely gone from Firefox now? It was a very helpful button and allowed us users to stop a web page and move on if it wasn't what we needed.

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. For more details on customizing the toolbar see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

  • How can I move the tab bar to the bottom, and how do I get my reload and stop buttons back?

The new version of Firefox has repositioned my tab bar to the top and I cannot move it to the bottom. I tried about:config, but browser.tabs.ontop was already set to false - very curious, since this should have solved my problem in the first place.
In the new version of Firefox I cannot get my reload and stop buttons back again.

Firefox uses a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location bar.
*You get a Stop button during page loading that changes to a Reload button when the page has finished loading
*You get a Go button if you modify the location bar content
*Middle-click the Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab

  • The back, forward, reload and stop buttons are greyed out, the address bar stays blank when I go to a website and firefox loads to a blank page, not my home page. There are 3 users on this computer and it only happens on one user.

Firefox loads to a blank page, not my home page. When I click on the home button it takes me to the home page. The back, forward, refresh and stop buttons are greyed out and not usable. The webpage I am on does not show up in the address bar. If I type something into the address bar, that address stays there no matter what page I go to next.

Just upgraded to v4. It did NOT fix the problem.

  • Hi. On the buttons labeled Back, Forward, Reload, Stop, and Home on the top of Firefox page used to be all right beside each other on the left, followed by the Address Bar and then the Search Bar.

However, I wanted to try Firefox Beta 4 but didn't like it, especially since I'd lose all my add-ons! So i have Firefox 3.6.13, but now my bar at the top is Back, Forward, then Address Bar, the Reload, Stop, Search Bar, and then Home. How do I get it the way it was before?! Please help!
I also had a buttong for AiOS (All-in-One-Side Bar) which I really like and now it gone! I cant find it in the preferences either! Please help. I would insert images to help but I guess I cant do that here.

Thank you SO much! That completely solved all the issues! You've made my day! Thanks!
