  • Where can I find a good tutorial for mobile game developement with J2ME ?

    Hi All,
I'm completely new to J2ME programming. But I have past experience on J2SE developement. Now I would like to know that where can I find a good tutorial for mobile game developement with J2ME ?
I'll be very greatful if I can find a useful step-by-step tutorial (eg. "The Java Tutorial" for J2SE)
Please point me ot the direction.
    Thanks
    ZuriJAckshoT

ibook-widgets.com    have a free tutorial book in the iBooks store.  Search for "Create your first interactive book using iBooks Author"   they also  sell widgets.
I  dont have any connection - I  found their eBook in the store long ago  and used it to learn more about iBA.
The best advice though, is be patient,  go back over the process step by step, I cannot  access the Help files for some reason.. but i am sure its in their.

  • Do I need the "Apple Mobile Devices" program with just an iPod nano

I'm going through the list of programs on my computer (using the "Programs & Features" tool in Control Panel, on Windows7) and trying to figure out what's on here that I don't need & can safely remove.
There's one program called "Apple Mobile Devices Support" (that's what the Control Panel utility calls it, I think it's also called "Apple Mobile Device Service") I did some google-seaching to find out what it is, and apparently it's needed in order for iTunes to connect to iDevices such as iPods & iPhones. I couldn't find a very clear explanation of it, but as far as I can tell, it might just be needed for some kinds of devices, like iOS devices. All I have is an iPod Nano, which is one of the few existing Apple devices that *isn't* iOS. I don't have an iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch, etc.
Can I use iTunes as normal to manage my music library, download media, manage my iPod library/playlists/etc, without having the Apple Mobile Devices Support program? Or is it needed for connecting iTunes to ANY device, including a simple iPod Nano?
(BTW I connect my iPod to my computer using a standard iPod/USB cable)

    It's a 4th generation IIRC
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that one does need AMDS for at least something.
(I know there's an article around somewhere which gives the precise generation at which point AMDS is used by nanos ... but I just can't remember which particular article it is. I keep finding it only by accident on those occasions when I do find the reference.)

  • Re: Toshiba Mouse with Bluetooth Technology N554 lag

    Hello,
I am having trouble with a Toshiba Wireless Mouse with BT Tech. Model N554 when I connect my laptop (Toshiba Satellite L650-111) to a LG widescreen TV via HDMI cable.
The mouse cursor does move, but with a horrible lag (delay time), about 2 seconds or even more. The distance from laptop and mouse is little less than 4 meters,
so this shouldn't be a problem. I want to use this setup for games, so no lagging is essential. This, however, occurs only when I have laptop connected to TV, otherwise the mouse works perfectly fine, even if the distance from mouse and laptop (not connected to TV) is more than 10 meters.
Please kindly advise me a solution to solve this issue.
    Regards

Yes, in fact it does. That's weird.
I was playing around with setting on tv and computer, setting it on 720p and some other stuff. It is better now, but still not quite good enough.
I can make a list of the settings available if that's helpful.

  • Problem about Communication with Bluetooth

    Hi all!
I want to use a PC host to communicate with a mobile phone with Bluetooth technology. In details, the mobile phone wanting to know some informaiton about "news of today" firstly send a message to my PC, then my PC have to response with a reply message to that client mobile phone. It seems that I should use Java programming with J2SE to control the communication through Serial Port. Is it right? I want to overview some Java sample code about this topic so that I'm able to know the general manipulation. Thanks very much! : )

    Hi,
Under J2ME you can use the JSR82 but only for compiling and then port the application on the mobile device. The source is not implemented.
There is free APIs java that you can use www.javabluetooth.org
Let me know if it works with you, I am going to begin next week...

  • Why is it that Apple cannot get their bluetooth technology right? The3GS does not even find the handsfree kit, computer etc? While a cheap $59 phone can do that from Nokia? why don't Apple get their act together?

Why is it that Apple can't get their bluetooth technology right? I cannot connect to my Honda Civic VTI-L 2011 model using the bluetooth? While I can do that using my cheap Nokia phone ($59.00)? I shelled out $380.00 and this is what I get...
It will not even connect to my HP Elitebook 8540P??? Before anyone starts, this is what i have already done:
    Installed the latest OS 5.1
Switched on the bluetooth on both device
And they are next to one another
So don't post here saying things that I have already done. Used the Bluetooth technology frequently so those carp from Apple about making sure devices are discoverable blah blah blah...don't even go there.
Will not buy another Iphone and will tell everyone that I know of that it is a piece of overhyped ****.

"What Apple did say that it has Bluetooth Technology,"
It does have bluetooth technology.  It will connect to may types of devices via bluetooth.
using any other phones, the Bluetooth Technology means that you can connect to other devices with Bluetooth Technology."
Iphone connect to other devices as well. I connect via bluetooth all the time to my car.  Like any other phone, it does not connect to ALL devices for ALL purposes.
You seem to have very little understanding of bluetooth technology.  Perhpas you should read up on bluetooth before you begin a rant based on your ignorance of the subject.

  • Why do tangent games come with viruses out of the box?

I just received this computer and saw it had some games already installed so I tryed them out.  One Wild Tangent game (Diner Dash 2) had a trojan horse virus, and another had a different virus.  How does a virus get attached to a game that has never been opened?  I have since deleted all games associated with Wild Tangent.

IMHO I dont like games by WildTangent, may collect name, address, phone number, e-mail, and other contact information without the user's consent and could distribute the collected information with the user's consent. Concerns were also raised about the software's self-updating feature.  Some popular antispyware programs detect the program during their scans, such as Spybot, which classifies it as a potentially unwanted program.
    Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WildTangent
which OS do you have installed? If is Vista there is a great solution if not then uninstall them, btw they are not the best games you can find
Wild Tangent games is well-documented at a number of well-reputed malware databases and forums.

We also collect certain product usage information through our software such as the number of product launches and time spent playing a product.
How did WildTangent get on my computer?
WildTangent is an online video game software company with partnerships with many companies like HP, Dell, Compaq, Logitech, AOL, and others. We package our games with their products such as computers and computer peripherals. We do not install our software onto your computer without your knowledge and consent.
If you have found WildTangent software on your computer, but didn't install it, it was installed onto your computer in the following ways:
Your computer manufacturer, such as HP, Dell, Compaq, or Gateway, preinstalled the software and games on your computer.
Playing any of our games, like Polar Bowler, Blasterball or Tradewinds, or any AIM Games, like Lexibox and WildCards, will install WildTangent on your computer.
Trying one of our games from our website partners like MSN Gaming Zone, Yahoo and Shockwave. To view all our games, please go to our WildGames website.
Someone in your household, especially children, has played or downloaded any one of our games.
It is not possible for our software to automatically install itself on your computer; it must be installed specifically by one of the methods we list above.

    What is Wild Tangent?
Wild Tangent is a video game software company specializing in online games. It has even made a partnership with AOL to include itself as part of the AOL Instant Messenger for their AIM games section. The WildTangent Web Driver is their technology that allows you to play 3D games over the Internet. • A few questions about bluetooth technology and headsets...

Alright I am new to bluetooth technology and headsets, and want to do the proper research before I buy one.
1)I have seen some have 1.2 and 2.0 technology, so what is the difference and should I only look for one that offers 2.0?
2)Do they all offer a vibrating alert?
2b)Or just those really big kinds that look like hearing aides that have that little box behind your ear?...
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=2002 46049729
    3) Do they all have a multi-function button, 3way, mute, volume etc?
3b) Or are some just a single button that only answers and hangs up?
    4) Do any of these charge via bluetooth?
    5) I've seen some bluetooths have a micro sd chip in them... what is the point of this? Can they be used like a usb storage device?
    6) Can you buy those usb to mini-usb adapters for charging and data transfer (not sure what kind of data you would transfer to a headset) separate from having to buy a combo kit that comes with it?

You might try Google and look for answers, these are pretty comprehensive questions regarding a broad sweep of headsets. You might get answers on a few models, or just Apple's, here.
If you click on each of the models in the link I gave you it goes into more detail about each one.

  • PC Suite stops working with Bluetooth after Laptop...

I use PC Suite and Bluetooth to connect to my Phone. I use the Synchronise, and the Messages feature a great deal. It all works great after a reboot, and I think it's a real credit to Nokia that they provide this free and improve their standing compared to other manufacturers.
However, the latest versions of PC Suite have taken a backward step in hardware compatibility. Previously, no matter what state my laptop was in - ie rebooted, returned from hibernate or standby, the laptop would connect to my phone over Bluetooth, and synchronizing would happen. When my phone went out of range, the connection would drop, and when it came back into range, the connection would re-establish and synchronizing would start again - wonderful!
Now, this only works after clean reboot, and after I have manually clicked on "Get Connected". After my laptop returns from standby, if I try "Get Connected" I get the error:
"Cannot use the connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available. (Code: OpenMedia)"
To get PC Suite working with Bluetooth after returning from standby I run a Repair, after which it works beautifully.
Is this a known fault? I have uninstalled and re-installed PC Suite and the BT Stack as recommended in other posts to solve other issues. My configuration is:
    Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP
    Nokia PC Suite: Version 6.82.22.0
Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba v4.00.23(D) SP2
    Bluetooth Specification: Version 2.0, 1.2, 1.1
    Many thanks...

Thanks for your response Miksu. You have pointed me to the right place. It is the connection manager that fails to recognise the BT stack that causes my problems. This is always resolved by a repair. It seems that the order of initiation is very important which may be why Luist has started to have the problem.
In my experience, once things stop to work, I've had to strip out any subsequent installs.
My PCSuite also stopped working after it installed cable connection manager (or something like that) without me asking. I found it in Control Panel->Add/Remove programs. I removed it and PC Suite started to work again, so I completely removed PC Suite then re-installed, and allowed it to add the relevant devices relating to my phone (about 4 devices alltogether) but alas this did not solve my "return from standby" issue. I think I need to remove PC Suite and then Bluetooth, and maybe something else before re-installing - I'll leave that for a rainy day.
    Thanks again Miksu

  • C2-00 Problem with Bluetooth headset

I use it for a week and have a problem with bluetooth headset.
When I finish a call my mobile is stop working.
The only way to get it back is remove a battery.
I try to use other bluetooth headset but it have the same problem.
Please help me to fix this problem.
    Thank you.

conceivably, yes, that is how its supposed to work
i was just wondering if there was a way to turn it off somehow, so as to only enable the bluetooth for calls and not for all audio. unpairing and pairing the bluetooth definitely works, but it just seems like overkill everytime i want to anything regarding sounds (asise from calls)
    thanks,
