Model-Glue event-handler arguments

How can I call an event-handler with some arguments (ex username, password). I know that i can make a form and set "action" to this event-handler. But i don't want to click on submit button.

You might want to try asking this on http://groups.google.com/group/model-glue as well...

  • Model Glue - Passing variables between events

    Hi,
    I am working on coldfusion with model glue architecture. Is
    there any method to get the value that is set in the controller
    file driven from a particular event to be accessed from another
    event.
    Example
    Code in controller file :-
    <cfset arguments.event.setValue("data","some data")>
    <cfset arguments.event.addResult("Duplicate")>
    Question is can i get the MG variable data in the event
    triggered by the result Duplicate?
    Pls help.

    Hi,
    Like this,
    arguments.event.getValue("eventVariableName")
    (or)
    <cfset eventValues = arguments.event.getAllValues() />
    and do a find....

  • How to add event handler for outlook build in control through programmatically

    Hi,<o:p></o:p>
         There is requirement in my plug in where i need to intercept outlook native attach file method.If user attach more than specified
    exchange limit , i need to perform some operatoin. I found  that there is way to add "Onaction" method for built in control  like this " <command idMso="AttachFile" onAction="CatchExchangeWarning"/> ".
    I have to do the same thing via programmatically .I need to attach this event handler through programmatically since my add is not developed by xml file.
    <o:p>Thanks</o:p>

    Hello,
    It looks like you are interested in the
    BeforeAttachmentAdd event of Outlook items. It is fired before an attachment is added to an instance of the parent object. So, you can analyze the attachment object passed as a parameter and set then Cancel argument - set
    it to true to cancel the operation; otherwise, set to false to allow the Attachment to
    be added.
    Also the Outlook object model provides the
    AttachmentAdd event for Outlook items. It is fired when an attachment has been added to an instance of the parent object. You can also analyze the attachment object passed as a parameter to the event handler. You will not be able to
    cancel the action in that case.

  • Swing: when trying to get the values from a JTable inside an event handler

    Hi,
    I am trying to write a graphical interface to compute the Gauss Elimination procedure for solving linear systems. The class for computing the output of a linear system already works fine on console mode, but I am fighting a little bit to make it work with Swing.
    I put two buttons (plus labels) and a JTextField . The buttons have the following role:
    One of them gets the value from the JTextField and it will be used to the system dimension. The other should compute the solution. I also added a JTable so that the user can type the values in the screen.
    So whenever the user hits the button Dimensiona the program should retrieve the values from the table cells and pass them to a 2D Array. However, the program throws a NullPointerException when I try to
    do it. I have put the code for copying this Matrix inside a method and I call it from the inner class event handler.
    I would thank you very much for the help.

  • Event Handler Exception

    Hi Friends,
    I am trying to call a BAPI from a webdynpro application when a user
    hits a button in a table. The table will have a button for each entry.
    There is an iView that has the table, a custom controller that executes
    the BAPI (model).
    I am setting the value of the custom controller context at the onAction event handler of the iView and calling the method executeBAPI once the user hits the button. The problem is it works fine for the first time. If the user hits another button of the table on the same screen it throws a nullPointer exception. ie all the subsequent calls fail.
    What could be wrong?

  • Event handler for STDIN input?

    Hi,
    This question will probably require a bit of context - I'm attempting to re-implement in java an application that's currently written in perl. The application is a server helper app that rewriters urls; it receives a request ID and a URL on stdin, does the necessary munging (which can require an external SOAP query), then returns the resulting rewritten URL.
    Since the results can be asynchronous due to the need for external queries to build the result, this is currently a multithreaded perl app implemented using perl's POE framework to register an event handler for stdin. That handler fires each time a line of input is received, then feeds the query to a thread pool manager (POE::Component::Pool::Thread, which is conceptually similar to the Executor frameworks). The thread returns the result as a callback registered to another function in the main thread, which then populates the query/result to a cache then outputs the result (with the original query ID) on stdout. Since stdin input and the result callbacks are event-driven, there's no while(true) main loop or other blocking mechanism in the main thread. Unfortunately, it's perl-ness is causing problems due to perl's threading implementation (three words: "copy on init"), so we need to reimplement in a language with a more robust threading implementation (preferably one with copy-on-write for shared objects). So, Java it is.
    So far everything's been good - Executor, Callables, and Futures work as I hoped they would for proper thread management, and the internal worker thread logic (XML processing, SOAP, regular expressions, etc) is proving rather simple to adapt. However, the main roadblock I'm hitting is that so far, I have not found a way to register any sort of event handler for STDIN input (or more specifically, InputStreamReader/BufferedStreamReader events). This could be due to search engine pollution - everything I see when I search for documentation on event listeners appears to be GUI-specific (buttons, menus, text areas/forms, etc). I'm just looking for a way to handle a line of STDIN, not a text area on a form.
    Any pointers in the right direction will be much appreciated!

    Maybe I need to rethink the design here...
    The main reason I used a callback in the original perl is that there's a large cache structure that gets checked before the thread dispatch, and only cache misses get pushed to a thread for processing. Callbacks from the threads will then add its results to the cache. Thanks to perl's thread model, when I attempted to make the cache a shared structure - in perl, you have to explicitly mark as "shared" variables that you want visible to all threads - the structure wound up getting copied to every thread, and this gave the app an unacceptable memory footprint. So the solution was to use a callback in the main thread to update the cache.
    I'm now thinking that if Java's thread model is a bit saner (i.e. a shared object doesn't get copied into every thread), then I could just have each thread update the cache, print its output to STDOUT directly, and avoid the need for the callback. I can then make my input loop simply a while() loop, waiting for the next input to dispatch. Sound sane?Yes I think so.
    There is some of this I still don't entirely understand. Your loop sounds better now but it sounds to me like the process is this.
    1) read from in
    2) call some stuff on the basis of what came in
    3) do work
    4) workers produce things
    5) things written back out
    6) read back in??
    If you're just going in/out then great. If you are going in/out/in then maybe some sort of PipedInput/Output Streams? It may well be that I got lost in your explanation in which case never mind.

  • Question on program structure about event handling in nested JPanels in GUI

    Hi All,
    I'm currently writing a GUI app with a wizard included in the app. I have one class that acts as a template for each of the panels in the wizard. That class contains a JPanel called contentsPanel that I intend to put the specific contents into. I also want the panel contents to be modular so I have a couple of classes for different things, e.g. name and address panel, etc. these panels will contain checkboxes and the like that I want to event listeneres to watch out for. Whats the best way of implementing event handling for panel within panel structure? E.g for the the checkbox example,would it be a good idea to have an accessor method that returns the check book object from the innerclass/panel and use an addListener() method on the returned object in the top level class/panel. Or is it better to have the event listeners for those objects in the same class? I would appreciate some insight into this?
    Regards!

    MyMainClass.main(new String[] { "the", "arguments" });
    // or, if you defined your main to use varags (i.e. as "public static void main(String... args)") then you can just use
    MyMainClass.main("the", "arguments");But you should really extract your functionality out of the main method into meaningful classes and methods and just use those from both your console code and your GUI code.

  • Call to pl/sql from java event-handler

    How can I call pl/sql procedure or function from java-script event handler
    Thanks,
    Anna

    Anna,
    You cannot call any arbitrary PLSQL code from the forms, only "standard"/custom event handlers can be called through do_event Javascript fuction, syntax :
    do_event(this.form,this.name,1,'ON_CLICK,'');
    where:
    1 - button intstance, if you have more than one instance of the same button on the screen this should be 2,3,4.....
    'ON_CLICK' - is the predefined event type
    '' - the last argument is any user defined string which will passed down to the PLSQL event handler.
    Thanks,

  • How to set up a label control from custom event handler?

    Hi,
    Below I try to describe my problem:
    I have a single instance of MyClass (I use Cairngorm framework), with ArrayCollection as a variable, in which I would like to keep a couple addresses from database.
    Additionaly  I created a custom components with a list of people retrieved from database, with eventhandler  for a doubleclick event. After I doubleclick on some person, I create a custom event and dispatch it. In command class connected with this event I connect to the database and get full data about this person and a set of her addresses. This set of addresses I placed into ArrayCollection in my model variable. And now I have a problem, because one of this address (the birth place) I would like to display below the list with persons, in a Panel with a couple of label control, but .... I can't to bind label control to my model.addresses[???] because I don't know if this doubleclicked person has this birth address at all?
    I wonder if it is possible to set up label control in my custom components in time when I'm receiving the data from database in my custom event handler???
    One of the way to achieve this is to define a string var in my model and placed this special address in it, and then the label control to this variable, for instance {model.birthplace}, but this is only needed for a moment, I don't want to keep this address in extra variable in model, because I have already it in my ArrayCollection in model, so it would be a duplicate.
    I hope that you could understand me and my english :-)
    Best regards

    Looks like I migh not be a novice swing programmer for long then.

  • Event Handling Techniques with MVC

    Hello all,
    I have a situation where I have a model that can be thought of like a graph with many nodes and edges. I would like to create a view of this model with a customized JLabel that shows a data value for each node and edge in the model. The event handling to accomplish this has left me a bit perplexed, though. On one hand I was considering something similar to the following:
    // a dedicated listener for each label
    MyLabel mylabels[] = new MyLabel[numLabels];
    for(int i = 0; i != mylabels.length; i++){
    MyEventHandler eh = new MyEventHandler(mylabels);
    mylabel.addMouseListener(eh);
    public class MyEventHandler extends MouseAdapter{
    private MyLabel label;
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e){
    label.setText(etc...);
    // at this point I would want to set the value of the point or edge
    // that this label corresponds to, not sure of the best strategy
    // here either
    etc...
    The other technique that I am considering might look similar to the following:
    // only one listener for all labels
    MyLabel mylabels[] = new MyLabel[numLabels];
    MyEventHandler eh = new MyEventHandler();
    for(int i = 0; i != mylabels.length; i++){
    mylabel.addMouseListener(eh);
    public class MyEventHandler extends MouseAdapter{
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e){
    //call a control object in MVC architecture, for more processing
    control.update(e.getSource(), (String)input);
    etc...
    // in the control object class
    public void update(Object eventSource, String input){
    MyLabel source = (MyLabel)eventSource;
    source.setText(input);
    // the label would have some kind of index to indicate which one it is
    model.setData(source.getIndex(), input);
    I am interested in knowing any accepted/popular solutions to situations like this. Are either of my samples worth implementing? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

    I would recommend creating a single listener and add it to every label added to the graph. If you're interested in events that occur outside of the labels (in the background), add a listener to the container of the labels as well.
    Unfortunately, you cannot simply add a listener to the container and get all the mouse events from the container's children because Swing's event dispatching system will only dispatch mouse events to a container if the click location was not within any of the container's children. This means that mouse listeners registered to a container will only receive mouse events within the container's background.

  • Event handling help

    1.     getGraphics()
    2.     setCursor(?)
    3.     Use setDefaultCloseOperation(Jframe.CLOSE_ON_EXIT);
    4.     The DemoPanel needs a reference to the frame so the easiest way to accomplish this is to have your DemoPanel constructor take an argument of type JFrame. So when you create the DemoPanel you pass it the JFrame reference as an argument. In the constructor you save the reference as an instance variable.
    5.     On the DemoPanel make sure to provide public boolean isFocusTraversable() {return true;}
    6.     You can get the getClickCount() from the MouseEvent class
    7.     You can get what mouse key is pressed using the MouseEvent class CJ5e 384 (hint: e.getModifiers() & InputEvent.Button#_MARK button 1 is left and button 3 is right)
    8.     ParseInt
    9.     Remember when the frame is resized, moved, or covered paintComponent will be called to repaint the Sqaures.
    10.     I think that action key don?t generate a keyTyped event.
    11.     Use the KeyEvent.getKeyChar() in keyTyped to get the character typed.
    12.     Use an array of Color.red, Color.blue, Color.green to key track and iterate through your colors.
    13.     event.getKeyCode() == KeyEvent.VK_ENTER to determine an Enter key
    14.     Use if (!event.isActionKey()) to determine a non actionkey
    public class Demo extends JFrame
    DemoPanel thePanel;
    public Demo()
    // get screen dimensions
    Toolkit kit = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
    Dimension screenSize = kit.getScreenSize();
    int screenHeight = screenSize.height;
    int screenWidth = screenSize.width;
    // put frame in upper right hand corner
    setSize(screenWidth / 2 , screenHeight / 2);
    setLocation((screenWidth / 2),0);
    setTitle("Event-Handling Demonstration");
    // add panel to frame
    thePanel = new DemoPanel(theFrame);
    Container c = this.getContentPane();
    c.add(thePanel);
    this.addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter()
    public void windowDeiconified(WindowEvent e)
    this.show();
    static public void main(String args[])
    Demo theFrame = new Demo();
    [\code]
    Second, does this sound reasonable?
    Do you see anything wrong in the code?

    Yeah, here's a suggestion - quit cross-posting your
    stupid question all over the place and when everyone
    ignores it for another 6 hours, don't bring it back to
    the top AGAIN.Hey, dear friend, don't you ever REALY need an answer for you question.
    If you don't know answer, better don't post ANY message.
    And one more, stupidity of question is a rather personal thing.

  • Event Handling - New Approach

    Hi,
    I have developed a BSP and implemented the way Brian described in the Apprach 3 of the weblog mentioned below. In the method of new class that handles the server event(method name is same as server event), How do I access the model instance that I used in my BSP?
    BSP Programming: Handling HTMLB Events

    Thanks,
    Suresh

    Brian it's Good Idea to create in Controller Class or creating event handling methods within the model class. But I would like to create s separate class just for Even handling alone, so that I can use wherever I want(in different BSP Applications).
    1.I have created ZCL_EVENT_HANDLER_FORME.
    2.Created Method HANDLE_MYBUTTONCLICK and passed
      event_object as a parameter.
    3. I have ZCL_MY_CONTROLLER and ZCL_MODEL for BSP.
    4. Created instance of ZCL_MODEL and assigned it to the Controller Attribute.
    5. Successfully dispatced the event from DO_HANDLE_EVENT to HANDLE_MYBUTTONCLICK method of CL_EVENT_HANDLER_FORME.
    6. I don't know how to get the reference to the model in
    HANDLE_MYBUTTONCLICK method of CL_EVENT_HANDLER_FORME.
    Am I missing some thing....

  • Event handling pattern

    Let me know if this is a good path to take for my event handling framework. I am extending the Observable class with the model and implementing the Observer interface to watch the model
    Basic layout
    View0/Model0
    Model0 extends Observable class
    View0 contains addObservable and removeObservable functions which simply add or remove Observer to the model.
    View1 wants to listen to View0
    View1 implements Observer interface
    View1 adds itself as an Observer to View0 which translates to listening to Model0.
    The only problem with this is that you extend the Observable class which makes your model unable to extend a base model.
    Any thoughts or is there a more elegant solution?
    Thanks
    Matt
