Model intantiation in BPM

Hello
Can some one please clarify my doubts
1. I have intantiated my model in wdInit of my component controller. Everything works fine as independent webdynpro component, but when I use that WD component in BPM task, the model is not getting initialized.
What is the best place to initialize a model when using BPM?
2. What datatypes can I pass to the BPM context? Some how I could pass only string datatypes and could not pass integers from WD context to BPM context.
Thanks
Vidyadhar

Hi Vidyadhar,
You can create a method for executing a model at runtime and call this method in wdDoInit of your application. This should work perfectly as I have already tried it and it works fine for us, check the default trace to see if you are getting any other error while execution.
For your second question, you can pass Integers, String, Boolean & Date without any issues. Check supported datatyes in WS specification for details.
Hope this helps!!
Cheers,
Arafat

• Unable to run application module in a generic(Model) project in BPM applica

I use jDeveloper 11.1.1.6 and i want to add a generic or a model project to a BPM application, in order to develop the customized user interface.
but when i created an application module with the associated java Class, and then right clicking on it to run, i saw the following error:
(oracle.jbo.ConfigException) JBO-33001: Configuration file /tester.xcfg is not found in the classpath.
additionally when i use an Fusion Web application instead of BPM application, with Model and View Controller projects, there is no problem and i am able to run the application module.
thank you very much for your contribution.

thank you very much indeed
one more question.
will i face any problem by comment that tag?
can i remove mds-config section in any SOA and BPM application permanently? or its just for test and i should undone my comment later?

• Import Oracle BPA model (EPC) to Oracle BPM 11G

Hi,
I have my business process modeled using Oracle BPA product (EPC format). Now I need to import this model into Oracle BPM 11G which uses BPMN 2.0 format. Does any of the softwares provide a way to transform EPC models to BPMN 2.0 format.
These are the some of the approaches that I tried to perform the conversion:
1. Use share blueprint option for EPC model
Issue with this approach: The model imorted in jdeveloper is not BPMN 2.0 format, It is .xpdl file
2. Installed tutor macros on Oracle BPA, however this macro is enabled only for BPMN 2.0 process models, not for collobration models. Recreating the entire model as BPMN 2.0 Process model (I don't prefer this approach since this include manual conversion of the models from EPC) also does not work.
Issue with this approach: After importing model in OBPM is all activities appear as human task, new human task is created for start and stop activities along with start and stop events.
3. Use share blueprint option in Oracle BPA, this works only for BPMN 1.0 formats.
Issue with this approach: The SOA -> share blueprint option is not enabled for BPMN 2.0 type models
Ideal solution for me would be if there is a way to import the models created in EPC format into oracle BPM 11g without recreating the models manually. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi,
Actually it's tool couldn't help you resolve your tasks.
It hasn't options "share blueprint" for BPMN 2.0 type models.
And I don't know software which can transform EPC model to BPMN 2.0 model...

Hi,
I have a BPM Process to which I added a new attribute userid and consuming the BPM process in a web dynpro application, I created a model using the BPM Process's Web Service but getting a serialization error that the model does not have a mandatory field with name [userid]. see below.

• Collection of reference workflow models in SAP R/3 for research

Hi,
within SAP R/3 (at least in version 4.6c) there must be a collection of reference workflow models modeled as EPCs that can be exported e.g. with ARIS Toolset for SAP NetWeaver. These models were used for some research about process metrics in the past (e.g. by Jan Mendling [1]).
For own research purposes, I am interested in these models. But the university I'm working with, has no SAP R/3 installation.
Is there a possibility to get these reference workflow models by SAP (of course strictly for research purposes)? I already sent an e-mail to SAP but haven't got any "fitting" answers - probably because my question did not rearch the right person for my problem.
Maybe, a SAP employee working in this area reads this message and can help me.
Thanks in advance!
Regards

Thereu2019s no great secret that I have ever heard of... there is a central transaction SWDM (Business Workflow Explorer) in any ABAP system where you can access all of the workflows of that system using a search range e.g. by entering the appropriate application component.
From here you can display any workflow you have found using the context menu option (i.e. right click and choose display).
When viewing a workflow in the workflow builder, you can use the menu option Extras > Options > Display of Graphical Modelling View to swap to the Classic Event Driven Process Chains view.
Your best bet for transporting it is probably to use the Print... option in the menu then adjust the Output Options... to output it as a file and pick the file type you want to use.
Thereu2019s an X ML export option as well, but I suspect itu2019s just the image that you need.

• Idoc - BPM - Idoc

Hi,
My Scenario is as below:
An Idoc is sent from ERP to XI. based on a value in a specific segment, It has to call a Web Service. The outcome of Web Service has to be put into another segment of idoc and send the Idoc to CRM.
I have done configuration in such a way that Idoc from ERP goes directly to CRM. This is working properly.
Now I have to use BPM to model the above process instead of Idoc directly going from ERP to CRM.
Can any one help me of how I should start this scenario in BPM. What is the first step in modelling this using BPM.

• Newsgroup reorganization + New AL BPM Suite Product Center on Dev2Dev

Hi,
As you've probably noticed, we've reorganized the BPM newsgroups a little - cutting down on the dozen or two that we had (aqualogic.business.service.*), leaving just five:
aqualogic.bpm.general
aqualogic.bpm.modeling (renamed old .project.development)
aqualogic.bpm.runtime
aqualogic.bpm.administration (renamed old .bpm.administration)
aqualogic.bpm.development (renamed old .service.papi)
We hope this makes it easier for everyone to monitor and contribute. At the same time, we've created a new AquaLogic BPM Suite Product Center on Dev2Dev:
http://dev2dev.bea.com/albpm/
Regards,
Jon
PS. Here's our intent for the newsgroups:
* aqualogic.bpm.general
- announcements, concepts, foundations
* aqualogic.bpm.modeling
- process modeling, simulation, importing models, modeling tips
* aqualogic.bpm.runtime
- performance, scalability, architecture, monitoring, J2EE
* aqualogic.bpm.administration
- installation, deployment, automation, configuration, directory[ALIP]
* aqualogic.bpm.development
- process management, version control, configuration

some newsgroups were renamed, others were archived.
the screenflows newsgroup (via NNTP) is not available anymore, you should refer to the new names if you want to access via NNTP.
People reading via RSS should not change anything since the URLs are based on the internal id and not by name.

• BPM Suite vs BPA suite

Hello All,
Can any one tell me the difference between these 2 products and for what purpose they used.
It would be great if you explain using real time scenario.
Thanks,
AB

Oracle BPA Suite is a tool that is very suitable for enterprise wide business process modeling and enterprise architecture. It allows you to model your organization, strategy and processes.
This is useful when defining strategy, or to comply with laws that require you to model your business processes. It offers dependency matrices between different diagram types, simulation, definition of KPI's etc etc.
You can model automated processes, manual processes etc.
If you want to actually execute a process model that you defined in Oracle BPA you can choose to execute that model in either BPM Suite (BPMN) or SOA Suite (BPEL). You hand over the lowest level of process model to IT, who will use these tools to add implementation details.
BPM suite has a number of features that are available in BPA Suite as well, like simulation. But it is totallly focussed at the project at hand, not at your total enterprise.
To summarize: your architects and business analysts can use BPA Suite to model as-is and to-be situations. When you focus on the implementation of one business process, BPM Suite is your tool.

• All operations that will force quiescence in a workflow

I have the following list of operations that will force quiescence ...
1) Timed Event actions
2) Set Due Date actions
3) Assign Task... actions
4) Send XML to Client actions
5) Event nodes
6) Done nodes
Is there anything that I am missing?
Also if someone can shed some light on the significance of the "Post
External XML Event" viz-a-viz quiescence and transaction boundries. I am
specifically interested in finding out if what happend when the transaction
mode for the "Post External XML Event" is set to "send immediately"... Will
this cause a transaction to end for the sake?
Regards,
Raoon Kundi

Raoon Kundi,
You can specify whether you want the message to be sent immediately, or when the
current transaction containing the Post XML Event action commits. Sending the
message immediately sends the message whether or not the transaction completes.
Sending the message on commit ensures that the message is sent only if the transaction
completes successfully and a commit is issued. If the transaction is unsuccessful
and is rolled back, the message is not sent. The default is when the transaction
commits. For more information on workflow transaction boundaries, see Understanding
the BPM Transaction Model in Programming BPM Client Applications.
Advantage of Post Immediate(immediate)
 Performance improvements in one-way asynchronous requests where an event
may be fired before transaction commits.
Caveats with Post Immediate
 Duplicate Messages: Messages may be redelivered, if request side workflow
transaction was rolled-back and retried.
 Wrong Address in Addressed Response Message: A request is originated
from uncommitted workflow running in a live transactional context, and the transaction
is later rolled-back. In this case, workflow instance will be removed, as it was
never committed, and a response for such request will not find the addressed instance
to be notified.
 No-Instance-Found-Race-Condition: A request is originated from uncommitted
workflow running in a live transactional context, and response comes back before
transaction is committed. In this case, response can’t find uncommitted workflow
instance, and retries for a configurable of times after sleeping for configured
retry interval between all retries. This will reduce the window for race condition
significantly. Improper tuning may still show the problem more often. Tuning can
guarantee robustness only when retry times*retry interval is more than transaction
timeout.
Advantages of Post Commit(when transaction commits)
 No-Instance-Found-Race-Condition is a remote possibility. Cause for all
occurrences of this race condition in “Post Commit” are outside scope of WLI (ORACLE,
for example, sometimes has shown delays between transaction commit, and row being
visible to other transactions).
 No Duplicate Messages
 Wrong Address not possible.
Caveats with Post Commit
 May add a new resource to already running transaction (slowing down 2phase
commit processing).
 Delay in posting the XML event message (only sent when transaction commits).
Which Pattern warrants which delivery mode?
 One-Way Asynchronous (fire and forget)
Ideal for Post-Immediate, but must deal with redelivery issues.
 Two-way asynchronous
Ideal for Post-Commit, for the reasons mentioned above (Post-Immediate may see
“No-instance-found race condition”, “Message redelivery” or “wrong address in
response” problems).
 Two-way synchronous
Ideal for Post-Commit, for the reasons mentioned above (Post-Immediate may see
“No-instance-found race condition”, “Message redelivery” or “wrong address in
response” problems).
Hope

• Using imported data types

Hi,
While modeling a NW BPM process I wanted to create my own data types. After I have imported a Enterprise Service by SAP all the used data types are accessible in the imported namespace. I can even use them as types for DOs but unfortunately not as reference data types while creating my own xsd files. Am I doing anything wrong is it just not possible to do this?
Thanks,
Manfred

This is unfortunately a conceptial problem with WSDL: XSD types and elements that are defined in the inline schema of WSDLs cannot be imported into other WSDs.
If you have a WSDL that has the interesting types in an extenal XSD, you are lucky. In this case you can simply reference them from you new type by setting the visibility in the XSD editor to "workspace".
If not, the unnice thing is that you would need to either refactor the WSDL (taking the types out into an external XSD) or you need to copy the relevant types.
When you copy, you should us a differen namespace. As long as the original type and your copy have a similar structure - mainly the field names stay the same - the automapping is smart enough to copy field-by-field.

• BPM Process modeling

Hi, I am creating process diagram in BPM Composer but within 30s to 40s the page getting auto refreshed and becoz of that I am not able to save my process model.
how can I solve this problem?

It's not that it's hard, it's just that there are a few things that you have to know how to do. You might find the step-by-step instructions in this to be helpful - http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/obpm/11g/r1/firstProcess/firstprocess_obpm11g.htm. If you struggle with this, here are a few questions that might to help us understand where you are from a knowledge and a process perspective.
1. Are you using Composer or Oracle BPM Studio (JDeveloper)? Reason for asking is the mapping is done differently in the two tools.
2. Have you created an object in your catalog that represents the structure of the payload information you want to pass through the process?
3. Do you have a process variables in your process that you will use to carry this payload through the process?
4. Have you defined the Human Tasks for the Interactive activities in the process?
5. If you have Human Tasks defined for the Interactive activities, have you defined the mapping of incoming and outgoing information using the Data Associations link?

Dear Frank,
I was deploying from Jdeveloper (as described in Hello World tutorial) where we need to specify an EAR file name and also include the taskflow (Also the view controller in this case) project.
The model project is referenced from view controller as a project dependency.
Thanks a lot for your reply.
War regards,
Sam

• BPM Modelling Query

Hi Experts,
Scernario: Create and change of MDM Customer Master data via BPM
In our scenario, we are using One webdynpro component UI Component. This webdynpro component is used for both change and create.
In BPM Modelling, I have create a Task for this Webdynpro Component and using it as a task in Requestor , Approver 1 and Approver 2 Human activities.
My questions here is which is best practise.
1) One only task for webdynpro UI and assign owner in the Process lane.
2) Separeate task for requestor and approver and pointing to the same Webdynpro Component. Assigning owners in the task level
Thanks in Advance,
Best Regards,
Arun

Hi Arun,
It will be better if you go with option 2 as you will be having more control over the task assigned to each user/role like you will be able to customize the UWL Subject text, setup Time Contrains for each task(if not now, may be in future).
Regards,
Unni
