Modify an object with scripting

I know I can change the position, but can I change the width of a ListBox with scripting?

Scripting is simply an extension to the standard VI Server interface, with no clear boundery other than what NI thinks is not everyday use in properties and methods. The option to disable scripting is mainly to make the object hierarchy and property and method menus less crowded and intimidating to a starting LabVIEW user.
As such there are properties that apply to any object, and others that apply to a certain group of objects and some that apply only to a specific type. There is no way to set the size of an object on the top level object hierarchy since some objects do not support changing their size at all. So the objects that allow to change their size have such properties in a more class specific level. This means you have to cast generic object refnum into a more specific refnum in order to be able to get at those properties.And you can only cast a refnum into a more specific refnum if the object type actually matches.

Why dont you add the required controls and hide them as per the situation? Show them only when required.

Why does Livecycle Designer need to lock scripting on objects with children that are fragments??

Can someone tell me why Livecycle need to lock scripting on objects with children that are fragments??
I mean, just because I have a fragment (which you can't edit the script for), why does Livecycle need me to NOT edit say the initialise event on the Main form.
Yes, I can remove my fragments, edit and reinsert. Also if the event already has a script, I can edit the xml. But neither of these are terribly convenient.
Couldn't there be a better way?

The purpose of the fragment is to create re-usable or standard components. In most cases the fragment is not created by the same person designing the form and they do not want the from designer to modify any part of the fragment (it is a separate XDP file). There may be code in that fragment that relies on the structure that exists. If you have the rights you can always edit the fragment and when your PDF is created the changes will be picked up.
If you want to be able to modify the fragment while it is in Design mode sounds to me like you want to add a component to the object library. This will allow you to have a reusable piece of a form that you can modify on a form by form basis. To do this simply build the piece that you want. Lasso the entire form and drag it onto the Custom library. When you release it a dialog will pop up allowing you to name your component. Now on any form design you can drag your new component onto the canvas and all methods/properties and code will come with that component (allowing you to modify it for that form as you see fit).
Note that you can create your own libraries to hold your components if you see fit. Also if you put your libraries on a shared drive, you can share components between Designers.

For some reason on an update the CreatedAt field is created and given a value of null. So of course on an insert/update it will error because CreatedAt is an Identity field.
I've tried to configure the modelBuilder in my context to tell it that CreatedAt is an identity field, but that still doesn't work.

So far the only way to fix this is by commenting out my Seed data, but it's not a fix. I've seen other solutions where you can force it to not serialize certain fields, but I don't know if those solutions apply.

So I think this occurs because you might have created the database (Code-first) with POCOs that didn't have the CreatedAt field in them. I think that's what I did and the easiest way to fix it for me was to delete my database and re-create it with my POCOs
inheriting from Entity Data from the very beginning. We were still in development so it worked out for us but I know some people might not be able to do that. Here's what my table looks like after it was created correctly:

Need Help With Script Skipping Word Before Variable

I borrowed and modified a skip I found here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4808804 with code borrowed from elsewhere.
I noticed that it seems to run fine, but it skips any word that appears right before a variable. The point of the script is to find any text using an italic override or bold override, and replace the override with the appropriate character format from the catalog.
Can someone tell me why the code below skips words before a variable? I am sure it is a simple thing, but I am teaching myself Extendscript, and only recently started the attempt/

It looks like home assignment. Home assignment are not very welcome here. I can help you only a little. It's very simple application, but if you dont know basics in OO, you are in trouble.
Create these three files, even empty with all points you need to accomplish in them as comments.
Think about gui you need. If you do not know how to make menus and other fancy gui you can do only with one main panel with a few buttons and JOptionPanes appearing for every input.
Buttons for each task:
1. get available rooms; press and see JOptionPane telling what rooms are empty (information message)
2. book: JOptionPane asking how many guests, you input, it checks for availability, if available rooms are not enough (or beds) another OP tells that it's impossible, if enough - offer to input room number, you input, check if the room is booked, then offer to input name, then offer quit.
3. unbook.
4.get report
Once you design how it looks, every step becomes very simple. All methods you need to implement are simple array manipulations. Make report last, because it's just collection of printouts from methods you've already done.
In book, you need to look for definitions of constructor, passing arguments to methods, returning results from methods, creating object with "new" operator, simple event handling, JOptionPane documentation and examples, which are in every decent textbook.
Do not panic, it's really simple but rather tiresome application, if you do it by yourself you learn almost everything necessary to start programming in java.

The errror message of MapViewer is nearly the same with some more informations about the spatial query and the coordintes of the query window. If I run that spatial query in the sqldeveloper it returns a result!
I did following stebs:
- saved a tiff-Image in a GeoRaster table with pyramid an tiled images.
- checked the sdo_geom_metadata --> they are correct
- checked the sdo_georaster object for the rdt table name and rasterid --> they are correct
- checked the rdt table --> objects with that rid are saved
- checked the mdsys.sdo_geor_sysdata table --> entry is correct
- validate the geraster with the sdo_geor.validategeoraster function --> object is valid
- updated the spatial extend of the image and try again the preview functio--> the same error
The databse server is a virtual Linux server with Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit.
The web server is a Window 2003 R2 Server with a weblogic server and mapviewer patch 5 (Ver1033p5_B081010).
For a test I did the same (the same table script, the same raster data, the same import method) on a developer pc (WinXP Pro SP2) with Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 (32bit) the same mapbuilder version but with the MapViewer QuickStartKid and it works fine!!!
Has anyone an idea?

Inserting a new row in a BC4J View Object with an attribute of type BFileDomain

Hi all,
I've to insert a row in a View Object with an attribute of type oracle.jbo.domain.BFileDomain.
I do this within an Application Module's method, which has an input parameter of type byte[]. This parameter will be the content of the BFILE.
What's the right way for doing that?

Odd, have you disabled caching and indirection? (NoIdentityMap, dontUseIndirection, or alwaysRefresh/disableCacheHits). If so, then this could be the issue.
Otherwise please include the sample code you use to perform this, and verify that you do not have any unusual code in your set/get methods or in descriptor events. Also turn TopLink logging on and include a sample. Also ensure that you do not modify your objects until after registering them in the unit of work, and only modify the unit of work clones.

I have activated migrations on my Azure Mobile Services project. I filled the new seed function Inside the Configuration.cs class of the migrations. If the tables are empty, the seed function is going without any problems. When my AddorUpdate tries to update
the first object I get the error in the inner exception : "Modifying a column with the 'Identity' pattern is not supported. Column: 'CreatedAt'. Table: 'CodeFirstDatabaseSchema.Category'."

This occurred to me because I changed my POCO models to inherit from EntityData after I had already created my database without the extra Azure Mobile Service properties (UpdatedAt, CreatedAt, Deleted). The only way I fixed it was to drop the database and
start over with my classes inheriting from EntityData from the beginning. If you can't do that then I would create a new table with EntityData models and see how that database is created and manually update your tables to match those. Here's an image of one
of my tables from the management console on Azure. You can see that CreatedAt is an index.

Create lock object with fun command

Hallo,
Is it possible to create a lock object with the fun command? I tried to use:
FUN ( ENQUEUE _<lockobject> , <interface> ).
When I fill the importing parameters, execute the script and afterwards refresh the interace than the import parameters are empty. Is there a way to create a lock object with the fun command or at least with inline abap?

Hi Wolfgang,
in general your way of including the FUN command was correct.
The loss of import parameter values must have been caused by some other reason, not related to the invoke of enqueue. Maybe try it again.
If, for any reason, using FUN is not possible, it's always an alternative to use ABAP. .... ENDABAP. with correct ABAP coding inbetween (e.g. CALL FUNCTION ...).
Nevertheless regarding enqueue you need to consider, that the lock you set by running eCATT test scripts in this way, will last (only) as long as the session in which the function was called is active. Means, it lasts as long as you do not close the SECATT transaction (/n or similar) and not use commands like RESCON in your test script. Check your locks with transaction sm12.
Be aware, that interfering with an applications lock handling and strategy might also harm running transactions or the data processed by this transactions. Usually there is no need to call the enqueue modules from a test.

I have a textfield that populates editable text when we click pdf preview. when I tab the cursor moves to the end of the pharagraph. we are using some screen readers that reads the text. Our requirement is to bring the cursor at the begining of the text when tabbed.
Is it possibe to bring the cursor at the begining of text with scripting.
please post the steps if possible.

The "Results" variable need to declared out of the try and catch block, otherwise it won't be recognized when it comes to "close" at the end.

The error is thrown for the CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER and also comes up when creating the rest 1st, logging of and logging in again.
As it seems to be a serious error (I'd never expect it to show) and I don't now how to solve it, I wrote you this bug report.
I'm on Win7 Pro and using SQL Developer 3.0.04. Oracle version installed is:

Error with script SYS.<...>Using sysdba connections for schemas is strongly discouraged.
Creating tables in the system tablespace that have no relation to the sys and system schemas brings its own set of admin headaches, sysdba should only be used to shutdown or startup an instance.
Or if there is a specific SYS object that needs to have permissions granted that cannot be done via a user with the DBA role privilege (i.e. SYSTEM), that should be the only time a sysdba connection is needed.
Also, beginning with 11g the pl/sql for setting a column with a sequence value can be done directly, no 'select ... into ... from dual;' needed.

While applying Support pack for HR (SAP ERP 6.0) I get SPAU prompt with message:

Now as I call SPAU i get the screen with following options:
Correction in SAP Note
With modification Assistant
Without modification Assistant
etc..
Can someone guide me How to get list of modified repository objects in SPAU.

In SPAU you will get with modification assistence. just expand the subtree, and follw standard process .
This is to retain the enhancement. If there are any data dictionary related correction go to SPDD.

Java object with ArrayList of custom objects not working

I have a custom java object that has an ArrayList of another set of custom objects (code listed below). I can pull back a Customer object (to flex client) and it's recognized as a Customer action script object, but the ArrayList in the Customer object is not recognized as an ArrayCollection of Accounts. Instead it is an ArrayCollection of Action Script Objects.
At first I thought something was wrong with my action script Account class, but then I tried to pull back just an Account and it was recognized as an action script Account. It's just when I have my Customer object with an ArrayList of Accounts that it isn't getting converted.
Is there something else I need to do to have that ArrayList be recognized as an ArrayCollection of Accounts on the Flex Client side? Is there some way of specifying what type an ArrayCollection is mapped to?

I accidently found how to make this work. I may have missed something while reading about blazeDS reflection, but I thought I'd pass this along anyway.
What I have is I have an class A. In class A I have an arraycollection of Class B. If I want that arraycollection to return to the server with the correct class, then I need to include Class B in the compiled swf. How I have done that is to create a dummy variable of type B. Importing B will not work you actually need to have a member variable of type B even if you don't need it.

I understand that duplicate values have been inserted into a column that has a unique constraint.
I just can't figure out how to rectify the problem.

If the value is different it will update.Are you trying to insert or update in SQL (identified by the keyword INSERT or UPDATE respectively)?
Even in case of an UPDATE query, if you are going to update the values of some columns to violate the unique constraints, the update will not succeed and you will get the error message.

If this is the case, I am only trying to update and
not create a new item.To put it in simpler words, if you have a set of values defining the uniqueness of a record, you cannot insert another record with the same set of unique values. Similarly, you cannot update an existing record by modifying the set to conflict with another set of unique values which already exist in the database.
Suppose there are two columns A and B defining the uniqueness of the record and you have only two records at the moment like -

If you try to insert a record with A = 1 and B = 1, it will fail because a record already exists. You cannot violate uniqueness because the database has already been told that there will be only one record for any given combination of A and B.
Similarly, if you try to update the second record from A = 2 to A = 1, the end result would be A =1 and B = 1. There is already a record with that set of values and this will result in a violation of the uniqueness. So, this update will also be disallowed. On the other hand, if you try to update B to some value, say 3, there is no problem in doing so.
For convenience, you can imagine an UPDATE operation to be equivalent to DELETE + INSERT operation, though it doesn't necessarily work the same way internally.

Problem Running App with Scripting Bridge on MAC OS X TIger

I have an application which link with Scripting Bridge Frame work, use XCODE 3.0 and SDK 10.5. I use Scripting Bridge, to control some functionality of ITune from Objective-C. This Application run fine on Leopard and behave as expected. When I Run this application on Tiger this does not load.
Considering that scripting Bridge was first released om Leopard.
Can my Above Application Run on Tiger. If not how do I interface ITune from Objective-C, on both Tiger and Leopard? IS there update which suppose to fix this?

There will be no update for old products like Tiger. What there is is all you will ever get. For Tiger, you will have to dig into sending Apple Events to iTunes manually. Or it might be easier to define your Apple Scripts as string resources in your application an execute them via a system() call.
