Modifying Iview

Hi,
Can we do a modification in an iview so that it doesn't use the backend Auth object.
For eg. i click on some iview, it fetches the data from the backend system after checking the authorization.
Suppose, if i dont have the auth object assigned to my Id in backend and i want that I should modify the iview so that it doesn't look for that object.
Regards
Puneet

Puneet,
Why do you want to fetch the data without proper authorisations.
I believe it's not the correct way of by-passing security.
Thanks

  • Modifying iViews

    Hi ,
I have a requirement in ESS expense claim. once the claim has been made that will be send to his line manager for approval. In the line manager inbox some button label has to be changed in EP.
I have the system admin rights and content admin rights. how can we modify those iviews and where to see the access permissions.
SAP version is 4.7 and EP is 7.0. they are using an intermediate ITS to connect to the backend system.
Please suggest us a solution as this very <b>urgent</b>
    Regards

    Hi Mohan,
Import the particular application into NWDS and then only you have to change the webdynpro view. Kindly let us know the result.

  • JSR-168/WSRP iViews

    Hi,
I have the following doubts to be cleared. It would be of great help if someone knows abt these and revert back ASAP.
    1) How many iViews currently exist? Is there a directory of available iViews?
    2) Is SAP planning to provide today's iView functionality as JSR-168/WSRP portlets together with the new release (or later)?
    3) Would it make sense to create JSR-168/WSRP portlets by reusing existing iViews? I.e. is the iView Java code customizable? Would that be a feasible approach in order to provide iView-like functionality through JSR-168 or WSRP portlets?
4)Any other alternatives to expose iView-like functionality through a non-SAP portal? If so, what would that look like?
    Regards.....

    Hi Christian,
    1) This question is independent of WSRP/JSR, right? --> So, you mean, how many iViews in general.. There is no list published by SAP giving an overview of available iViews. However, you could get a little overview when checking out the business packages currently available offered by SAP and partners.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/contentportfolio.sdn
    2) SAP is not planning to provide all the functionality in a JSR168/WSRP-compliant manner. SAP will support WSRP by the end of this year with the next NetWeaver release. However, this does not mean that the existing content will be available via WSRP. Some might be, but to which extent, cannot be said for sure now. JSR is intended to be supported next year, meaning that the NetWeaver Portal will be able to consume JSR168-compliant portlets, but not provide all the existing content in JSR168 format.
    3) You are not allowed to modify iViews delivered by SAP. If you intend to modify iViews, which you created on your own, it depends on how much effort you want to spend on it and how long you can wait with your projects since both standards are not supported at the moment yet with the current SP releases.
    4) Please a bit more specific about what you mean with iView-like functionality. In general, to leverage the full functionality of SAP iViews you always need the full NetWeaver Portal framework. There are some scenarios of how to integrate the SAP EP into the WebSphere Portal. Check out the docs here on SDN.
    Kind regards,

  • Exposing MDM vendor information through the Portal

We are looking to expose certain MDM vendor information (such as; create, modify, etc) through the Portal and allow the users to update their information via the portal.
For example, vendor X will log onto the portal, they will only see their specific vendor details and will be able to modify their address, bank details, etc... through a number of iViews.
Please assume that we will be using the latest version of MDM (5.5 SP3?) and EP6.0 SP14.
    My questions are:
    - is there a business package that will provide us with that specific functionality?
    - if not what is the best way (if it is actually possible) of exposing this functionality through the portal (I guess we would need to create a web dynpro component)?
    Many thanks

    Hi James,
We have business package for MDM SP3 with some built-in iviews, which was released in Nov/Dec 2005. They also have create/modify iviews.
But they don't have iViews to add to a qualified table. In your case for Bank details I don't think you can use the existing iviews.
    Thanks

  • Page personalization without page title bar

    Hello,
we have removed our page title bar in order to save space.
Is there any way to still personalize a page, e.g. through a direct URL to the personalization of a given page, or do I have to enable the page title bar again?

I imagine it might be possible if you...
    1. Take the relevant code from the Page Title Bar iView (which does not have the source code - I will leave it up to you how you want to "get" the source - not sure of SAP's stance on decompiling).
    2. Then create a java iView with the relevant code in it that will perform the personalize functionality. Add a link in the page to launch the personalize function. This link will launch the "personalize" page/code (you will see this in the JAR). You can heavily leverage the existing code. FYI, the iView utilizes the abstract portal component instead of a JSP page. If you are not used to using these, it may be a little confusing at first.
    3. Add this iView to a page; then save the page as a template. Then use the template for all of your pages.
It might take a some effort to make it work with the page. I just don't know. In the default way it works, the page title bar iview is outside the page that it relates to. The option I am suggesting, the iview is within the page.
I haven't done this, but I have created my own page title bar iview so I could add an additional hyperlink in it. When I added it to the framework page, the back and forward links would not enable/work unless I added it above the already-existing page titlebar iView (in the layout), or removed the already-existing iView.  I did not end up using the modified iView, so I never took the time to figure out why.
Now that I think about this, the above option would probably "push" down your content visually anyway(thus you lose space) unless you move it to Dynamic Navigation instead of the page template, so it may be better just to add back the original iview to the framework page.

  • Address change to W-4 link

Whenever an employee changes his address the W-4 link pops up in the Enterprise Portal. Is there any way i can deactivate this w-4 link from popping up.
    sap R/3 system ,EP6.0,ESS 50.4 package.

    venu

@Sid.....it doesn't seem to do it anymore for WDJ or WDA services. Those settings for the IAC (Internet Applicaiton Component.....the older ITS services) are there but seem pretty useless given no one uses ITS anymore (or are moving off it if they do). Just seems really odd though. I have traced the WDJ service and see no where in any of the RFCs it uses that there is any check for the W4 indicator which would then pop-up the W4 service. My thinking is that this is due in part to two things....one, ESS is now in the portal (unlike the way ITS/IACs could be ran before)......two, they would have to account for the Homepage Framework and knowing the PCD path to your W4 resource (since you might be using a modified iView and they cant assume to launch the standard one).
I might use the input/output conversion classes of IT0006 to put a "check" in there for W4 if all else fails. If the "check" determines that the user needs to update their W4 information for the given "state" change in address, I could lock their record and trigger a workflow that sends them the link/reminder to update their W4 which would then unlock their record on completion. Hmmmm....just thinking out loud. =)

  • Display success notifications

    Hi all,
In an iView created with VC, I use a BAPI to modify some data in an SAP table. Once succesfully done, I want the Iview to display a "Success message". the message doesn't need to be in a popup window. It could be just a usual portal notification, like the error notifications you get if a BAPI would be called with some incorrect input data (kind of status massage in the top left corner of the iview) or like the success notifications of the portal after saving a modified iview.
After some investigations, I know that error messages from BAPIs are displayed as portal notifications, if the BAPI provides an output table called Return, which has the same structure as the SAP structure BAPIRET2.
As in succesfull cases no messages are generated, the return structure is not filled and the portal doesn't show any success notification.
Any ideas to show "success" notifications in spite of that.
    Thanks

    Hi deep,
To answer your first question: I'm using VC6.0.
Concerning your suggestion to display notifications, I already considered displaying them in a text field. That is however not so elegant, and I thought there should be a way how to invoke the notification interface of the portal.
Your idea to use labels is interesting and could be better than the text fields variant I described. I however didn't find a way how to change the content of the label dynamically -> There are no behaviour fields (initialization, computation ...) for labels.
    Thanks.

  • Accessibility Feature alters the Theme

    Hi,
As a portal administrator, i have enabled the accessibility feature for an end user.  Once i do that, the end user's portal desktop masthead looks different than before.  There is a wide white space that is supposed to be green.
Please let me know if the accessibility feature affects the portal theme in any way.
    Thank you,
    Ghizlane Idrissi

When I looked into the HTML code of the masthead, the table created in accessibility mode excluded a css class.  This class determines the background image of the masthead.  Without this class, the masthead background will be blank (white).
I'm not sure if this bug is fixed in later versions, but this is the bug fix.
Portal masthead component - Accessibility bug fix
    1. As Administrator,
Go to System Configuration -> Support -> Portal Runtime -> Browse Deployment -> temp browse
    2. Download com.sap.portal.masthead.par.bak
    3. Import .par in NWDS.  Remember to extract and rename file before.
    4. Import com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead_core.jar into dist/PORAL-INF/private/lib from original package.  This can be done by renaming the par to zip, extracting, and navigating to the proper directory.  NWDS may not have imported this file, which may cause errors later.
    5. Open dist/PORTAL-INF/jsp/HeaderiView.jsp
    6. In Line 501, add class="prtlHdrWhl" into the table statement.
    e.g. <TABLE width="100%" border="0" id="myTable" class="prtlHdrWhl" ti="0" ...
    7. Save and deploy project with new name.
    8. Create and modify iView, framework, desktop, master rules with the new masthead par accordingly.  There are many tutorials online.

  • Is it possible to disable the "Do you really want to logg off" popup?

Well, the full text isn't more complecated than the subject. Is it possible to disable the "Do you really want to logg off" popup? A customer wants to use popup blockers for some reason and hence this logg off popup is rather inconvenient.
I have searched the forum but only found threads about how to tweak the logg off session time and recomendations that you should use the link "Logg off" instead of just closing the browser.
    Best regards
    Benny

    Hi Benny!
No. The UME parameters like UME.LOGOFF.... are maintained using the offline config tool of the J2EE Engine. Therefore this is no JSP modification.
The option mentioned by me (modifying the masthead iView) indeed is JSP modification and you should avoid that as long as it is possible. I have several customers having additional requirements concerning the layout and functionality of masthead iView (e.g. customer-specific links, completely different order/layout of the elements of the portal header etc.).
    A rule of thumb is:
    First try to configure.
If not possible ask SDN and/or SAP.
If you get no sufficient answers start thinking about modifications.
Especially the masthead iView is very critical. If you accidentially "destroy" it noone can logon to the portal anymore. If you do this be sure to have at least one or two running portal sessions when deploying the modified iView and that you have a backup of the original iView by your hands. This gives you the chance to restore the original iView version.
If problem is solved now please close this thread. If not tell us your further doubts.
    And now: Good luck!
    Regards,
    Volker

  • Modify standard Java Iview ?

    Hello,
I would like to modify in our system (EP 6 SP 2) the standard MSS Iview "General Data" by deleting some information and adding some specific data.
I have questions about the following steps:
    - with a Java Developer Role, where can I get the .par file in the portal?
    - with the .par file, could I import it in NWDS or could I modify it directly by decompiling the java classe?
    Thanks,
    Regards,

    Hi Jerome,
Changes to the MSS business package should be performed using NWDI as these iViews were developed using webdynpro. Please refer my blog for more details,

  • Modify text/layout of KM iView

There is a KM iView called "Entry Points" under,
    Portal Content
    -->Content Provided by SAP
    >End User Content
    >Standard Portal Users
    >com.sap.km.iviews
    >Entry Points
The iView displays Private Folder, Public Folders, Favourites, Recently Used, Common Folders and Taxonomies.
    Now the Question:
I want to change the label "Public Folder" and its description that displays below it. Also want to change the font and color if possible. How can I achieve this?

If you have right permission you should be able to modify this. Also check your permission level on the folder like 'write'. If it is read only.... you can't modify any thing.
I tried in our portal and I am able to modify the iView properties.
I do have the following roles assigned to my id.
    pcd:portal_content/administrator/super_admin/super_admin_role
    pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role
    To check permission:
          1.      Make sure you are logged on as user with the Super Administrator role.
           2.      In the top-level navigation bar, click Content Administration  --> KM Content  --> Toolbox --> Permissions.
           3.      Navigate to a folder where you need to adapt permissions and choose Details.
The permissions page with all the functions you need to adapt permissions opens.
           4.      Change the permissions to meet your requirements and as recommended in SAP Note 599425.
    Thanks.

  • Modifying ESS/MSS iViews

    Hi,
Can someone please guide me to how I can modify standard ESS/MSS iViews, for example, to remove unwanted UI elements etc. The portal version is EP6. Also, I understand that with EP7 most iViews are Web Dynpro Java/ABAP, can these be modified also? Is there any docs or how to guides which will show me how to do this? Are there any Weblogs out there that anyone knows of? I've been searching and searching but have had no such luck thus far. All help will be very appreciated.
    Thanks
    Tony.

The "cookbook" for ESS is available via service.sap.com (the specific OSS note is attached too can be found with a search on here....sorry, don't know it right off). The cookbook does apply for EP6 and ESS ECC5.0. Basicaly, it steps you through setting up NWDI(JDI), creating your "project", pulling the needed Webdynpro into your NW Dev Studio, modifying it and re-deploying to NWDI and onto the portal.
An even better way....there is an online class available from SAP (it is part of the ERP2004 training) that covers ESS/MSS in-depth as well as modifying the files. The entire course (of which ESS/MSS is a small part) is $500 USD last time I checked....well worth it.
The new ESS/MSS/self-service WebDynpros are based on the Floor Plan Manager framework which can be tricky to understand....the class above helps cover that too...has material I have found no where else but in the class.
    Hope this helps.
