Monitoring OBI EE SQL query session in TOAD.

Hi,
I thought I would be able to monitor the SQL session based on an OBI EE Answers query in Toad. The query is running for a while but the session is not shown in Toad. I am sure that SQL queries run by other tools like Oracle Reports/Discoverer can be monitored in TOAD.
If there is any other tool to monitor the OBI EE query sessions, could you please let me know?
Thanks,
Manoj.

You should be able to see the session - select * from gv$session where program like 'nq%' and status = 'ACTIVE';
But you're better off changing your loglevel in obiee if necessary and checking the query log to see which queries are taking the time (could be many physical queries for one analytics request). It's also possible that the 'query' had already fetched all the data from the database but work was being performed on the BI Server to join information and so the database session was no longer active.

  • SQL query performance between TOAD and APEX

    Hi Guys,
    I would like to know if there is any performance difference between a simple query run in TOAD and APEX(classic report).
    The reason being, I have a query based on a single table(conataining 15000 rows) which takes almost 30seconds in APEX whereas it takes just 2-3 seconds in TOAD.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

    Varad,
    Thanks for your suggestion.
    I tried changing the pagination but not much it helped.
    Basically I have 5 reports on the same page.
    When the user first navigates to this page then Report-1 is generated first with data as links to other reports.
    So I guess when I click on any of the column links on the Report-1 then the page is refreshed and this time its taking total time for Report-1 and Report-2.
    Is there a possibility that we can circumvent the execution of the first query or cache the results of report-1 so that when the page is refreshed it displays the data from the cache for Report-1 and executes the query for Report-2 ?

  • Can we use session variables in BI publisher's Data Model SQL Query?

    Hi Experts,
    We need to implement Data level security in BI Publisher 11g.
    In OBIEE we do so by using session variables, so just wanted to ask if we can use the same session variables in BI Publisher as well
    ie can we include the where clause in the Data Models SQL Query like
    Where ORG_ID = @{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.INV_ORG']}
    Let me know your views on this.
    PS: We are implementing EBS r12 security in BI Publisher.
    Thanks

  • Get a insert session value for SQL query at report

    Hi friends
    I created a global temp table and procedure to support web search form.
    and a search result report. The procudure
    gets search result from multip tables and
    insert into temp table --recordsearch. I can get value from temp table  by call procedure
    at SQL*Plus.
    However, I can not get this value by web report.
    How can I get this insert session value and pass to SQL query for report?
    Thanks,
    Newweb
    CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE recordsearch
    (emp_id          VARCHAR2(200),
    ssn               VARCHAR2(9),
    fname          VARCHAR2(200),
    lname           VARCHAR2(200),
    m_name          VARCHAR2(200)
    ) ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS;

    it possible that your web form does not have a persistent, dedicated connection. if you have connection pooling for example, multiple sessions will see the same instance of the GTT, so if one deletes it, then nobody sees it (or you can see others data). if the connections are not persistent, then they can disconnect between calls, deleting the GTT table.

  • SQL query to get the monitor target on a monitor

    Hi!
    I have a list of some custom created Monitors. I need a list of which computers that are using the monitors, the "Monitor target". Please help me with this. It need to be a SQL Query because my powershell have stopped working.

    Yes that is what i have explained you with the screenshot right it is the one in your screen shot also which is mentioned as (This). If this is a default group then you will not get agents for that refer the below link on how to pull agent list of the Target
    group
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb960484.aspx?cs-save-lang=1&cs-lang=vb#code-snippet-1
    Or look at this. You can see what groups the agents are associated manually one by one by using the default SCOM Task.
    Go to Administration==> Agent managed==> Select the agent ==> Right click it and click View ==> Select state view.
    Once you select this you will have another window opened for that particular agent.
    Then click on the name of the agent and on the right hand side bottom you will have a default made task to check to what group's or Targets this agent is associated to. Run that task and you will get the output.
    Look at the ones highlighted in RED
    Below is the screenshot for your reference. Hope this helps

  • [SQL QUERY] Select TCP Port Monitors and their related Watcher Node

    Hi everybody,
    I'm working on a SSRS report and SQL Query, I have no problem to find all my TCP Port Monitor (SCOM 2012 R2) based on the DisplayName, but I can't figure out how to get their related watcher nodes (in my case only 1 computer is a watcher node).
    I can't find which table, which field, contains this information..?
    Here is the query i started to write (i select * since i still searching for the right column):
    SELECT
    FROM StateView s
    INNER JOIN BaseManagedEntity me on me.BaseManagedEntityId=s.BaseManagedEntityId
    INNER JOIN MonitorView mv on mv.Id=s.MonitorId
    INNER JOIN ManagedTypeView mtv on mtv.Id=s.TargetManagedEntityType
    --where mv.DisplayName like 'Ping Target Status Check%'
    AND me.IsDeleted = '0'
    where mv.DisplayName like '%tcpmon%'
    and mv.LanguageCode = 'ENU'
    --and s.HealthState in (@state)
    ORDER BY s.Lastmodified DESC
    It would be great if someone can help me !
    Thanks,
    Julien

    Hi,
    After creating a TCP port monitor, we can find a table for this monitor under operationsmanager database :
    SELECT *
    FROM [OperationsManager].[dbo].[MT_TCPPortCheck_******WatcherComputersGroup]
    You will find the warcher computer group.

  • Getting session hang When calling Function from SQL query

    Hi All,
    I am using Oracle 8.1.7.4.0. I have a fucntion in a Package and I am calling it from the SQL query. When I am firing the query my oracle session is going to hang position and I am not able to any thing. I have to kill the session.
    But this same thing is working fine in Oracle 9.i.
    There are no out parameter and no DML, DDL and DCL statement in this fucntion.
    Could you please get back me what is the problem on it.
    Regards
    SUN

    Check why your session hangs.
    Just a few ideas:
    * Blocking locks?
    * Endless loop?
    * Performance (maybe it is just slow in orac8i and you have to wait a bit longer). Check the execution plans of the SQL statements in your function.
    * Don't use a function, but direct SQL, it is faster in both versions.

  • Strange problem with SQL query in toad.

    Guys,
    My colleague is up with a strange problem with an SQL query that if it is run in toad encounters the "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel" problem,but if run in SQL plus executes just fine.
    Do anyone have thoughts about this strange error in toad?
    Thanks!!!!

    Not sure what version of TOAD you have but it may have shipped with SQLMonitor which montiors SQL sent from Windows apps . Navigation should be similar to;
    Start~Programs~Quest Software~TOAD for Oracle~Tools~SQLMonitor
    or
    C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\SQLMonitor.exe
    To use it, start TOAD and connect, start SQLMonitor and click the checkbox for TOAD.exe, then execute the query. SQLMonitor will show you the actual query that TOAD sent to the client. It may be exactly what you sent or it may contain some extras.

  • SQL query can be executed through TOAD but not through Discoverer

    Hallo, everybody:
    Got another problem. A SQL query can be executed through TOAD, but when I want to execute it by a worksheet of Discoverer Plus, it always shows there is no data.
    PS: I copied this query from Discoverer Plus to TOAD, which means, this query is generated through the Discoverer. Does anybody know about how could it be?
    Thank you.
    Geng

    Hi,
    If you are able to get data in TOAD with the same user credential as that of Discoverer Plus then it will implies an issue with Discoverer.
    Else it is privilege issue , your TOAD user has select privilege to the base objects (tables/views etc) where as your Disoverer used does not.
    Compare the privileges granted to these 2 users and you can narrow done to the issue .
    Thanks,

  • Sql query to fetch session id

    Hi,
    I am to trying to fetch session id of a previously submitted process of a search button......so that i can display the search results in a different page.....so is there any sql query or pl/sql procedure to fetch the session id.

    >
    Please update your forum profile with a real handle instead of "968337".
    I am to trying to fetch session id of a previously submitted process of a search button......It's not all clear what you are trying to do. The documentation describes an APEX session and its ID thus:
    >
    A session is a logical construct that establishes persistence (or stateful behavior) across page views. Each session is assigned a unique identifier. The Application Express engine uses this identifier (or session ID) to store and retrieve an application's working set of data (or session state) before and after each page view.
    >
    This means that each page view and page submission does not have its own session ID, but uses the session ID established when the user's current session began (which is usually through logon and authentication).
    Given this definition of session and session ID, are you therefore referring to the ID of some previous user session in which a page was submitted by a search button? Or some private meaning that you have yet to fully explain?
    so that i can display the search results in a different page.....so is there any sql query or pl/sql procedure to fetch the session id.The session ID of the current session is available using the the built-in substitution string<tt>APP_SESSION</tt> built-in substitution string.
    When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
    <li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    <li>Theme
    <li>Template(s)
    <li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
    Following the guidelines in these documents will also help to explain the problem in much more detail and with sufficient background for it to be understood:
    <li>+How to ask questions+
    <li>+{message:id=9360002}+
    With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.

  • How to delete last user session from backend SQL query?

    Sometimes user session gets closed between some work by any reason.
    When next time that user logs to P6, he gets some error or particular functionaly dosen't work for that user or system hangs.
    In that case if i decided to clear last session history of that user from database, how to write SQL query?
    I don't want to delete all user sessions from table USESSION and USESSAUD, i simply want to delete last user session of particular user (E.g XYZ).

    I am quoting this from MOS Doc Id "Why would multiple session records be present in the User Sessions screen in P6 Web, and why might some of them have different IP addresses? (Doc ID 1600172.1)"
    Multiple sessions show up for users since different sections of P6 Web have their own sessions associated with them. If a user is authorized to use multiple areas of the software they will have multiple sessions each time they log in. Additionally, if users are closing their browsers before logging out of P6 Web Access you might see some past sessions still appearing in the list. These will eventually be cleared out by background jobs, however you can also reset the sessions in the software by clicking the "Reset User" link (Administer > User Sessions > Manage User Sessions), or by choosing the "Reset All Users" link (Administer > User Sessions > Manage User Sessions) to do this for all past sessions.
    Multiple IP addresses for sessions can happen when a user logs in from different machines. For example, a person may login at their desk, but then go to a colleagues workstation to discuss a project, and log in from there. Doing so will leave them with multiple IP addresses in the session records.
    Hope this helps
    Regards,
    Sachin Gupta

  • Is it possible to trace users sql query disconnected from the session

    One of my users used to run the sql query daily, Now her machine rebooted and she lost all the sql query. is there any way to trap the sql what she used to run? I have the os/sql username....
    thx

    user587112 wrote:
    Yes we are using 10.2.0.3. main requirement of user is all the sql query she used to run.To get this query she is giving me her os user.And says why it is not possible?What would that be possible? If this database is reserved for her only that could be possible.
    Once she lost her session, there's no reliable method to trace all her SQL queries. The SID will be reused by Oracle, her SQL could be flushed out of shared pool, consider Oracle is designed to tackle with thousands of queries per seconds there's no feasible way to save all these information without impact on performance.
    So unless you had sql trace turned on her session or the database is reserved for her use only, then no it's not possible to retrieve all her SQLs and guarantee it. You might be able recover some of SQL from the mentioned DBA views but no guarantee what so ever.
    PS. it's no guarantee to get all her SQLs even her session is still active, unless SQL trace were turned on.

  • Monitor real time sql statement.

    Hii All,
    I am working on win 7 machine using oracle 11gR2 with tool sql developer.
    I am accessing database using VPN from some xyz location.
    I want to monitor the sql statements like insert, update when somebody performs operation using front end.
    I have done this before in case of oracle forms via toad's sql monitor.
    But I can't use toad now, only sql developer.

    Hi,
    Following query will give you currently running SQLs,
    select sesion.sid,
    sql_text
    from v$sqltext sqltext, v$session sesion
    where sesion.sql_hash_value = sqltext.hash_value
    and sesion.sql_address = sqltext.address

  • URGENT HELP Required: Solution to avoid Full table scan for a PL/SQL query

    Hi Everyone,
    When I checked the EXPLAIN PLAN for the below SQL query, I saw that Full table scans is going on both the tables TABLE_A and TABLE_B
    UPDATE TABLE_A a
    SET a.current_commit_date =
    (SELECT MAX (b.loading_date)
    FROM TABLE_B b
    WHERE a.sales_order_id = b.sales_order_id
    AND a.sales_order_line_id = b.sales_order_line_id
    AND b.confirmed_qty > 0
    AND b.data_flag IS NULL
    OR b.schedule_line_delivery_date >= '23 NOV 2008')
    Though the TABLE_A is a small table having nearly 1 lakh records, the TABLE_B is a huge table, having nearly 2 and a half crore records.
    I created an Index on the TABLE_B having all its fields used in the WHERE clause. But, still the explain plan is showing FULL TABLE SCAN only.
    When I run the query, it is taking long long time to execute (more than 1 day) and each time I have to kill the session.
    Please please help me in optimizing this.
    Thanks,
    Sudhindra

    Check the instruction again, you're leaving out information we need in order to help you, like optimizer information.
    - Post your exact database version, that is: the result of select * from v$version;
    - Don't use TOAD's execution plan, but use
    SQL> explain plan for <your_query>;
    SQL> select * from table(dbms_xplan.display);(You can execute that in TOAD as well).
    Don't forget you need to use the {noformat}{noformat} tag in order to post formatted code/output/execution plans etc.
    It's also explained in the instruction.
    When was the last time statistics were gathered for table_a and table_b?
    You can find out by issuing the following query:select table_name
    , last_analyzed
    , num_rows
    from user_tables
    where table_name in ('TABLE_A', 'TABLE_B');
    Can you also post the results of these counts;select count(*)
    from table_b
    where confirmed_qty > 0;
    select count(*)
    from table_b
    where data_flag is null;
    select count(*)
    from table_b
    where schedule_line_delivery_date >= /* assuming you're using a date, and not a string*/ to_date('23 NOV 2008', 'dd mon yyyy');
