  • Web Activity Monitoring Tool

    I admin an OS X 10.4.11 server for a small network of about 10 Macs & 10 Windows computers.
    It is running both DNS and DHCP. An Actiontec DSL router is running NAT.
    The owner & management of the company wants to keep a closer eye on a couple of naughty employees, wanting to monitor their web activity. Apparently these employees are spending several hours a day on myspace and such.
    When I log into the Actiontec and check the web monitoring log, almost all of it appears from the Mac server and not the individual computers.
    Is there a tool, whether commercial or shareware, that will install on either a Windows computer or a Mac that can provide web activity logs by IP (given the current network setup)?
    Thanks!

    I do the same thing, and it's pretty simple to set up:
    What I do is enable the web service on the OS X server. Then I enable the Proxy service. (All through Server Admin)
    Then, I set that server as the proxy on the client machines. (Safari proxy is set in System preferences/Network Settings, and Firefox and Exploder in their respective Preferences. (something like Firefox/Preferences/Network Connection settings.))
    Then your server's web access log will show you by IPs all the accessed web pages.
    You can also block desired websites that way (it's in the proxy settings on the server -- Server Admin).
    Since Safari proxy is controlled via system preferences you can lock it so that users can't change it, but firefox and exploder settings are user acessible, if your users are savvy enough to find them.
    The only problem I've run with this, and it is such a minor issue, is that some websites that use nonstandard ports have trouble getting through proxy. In that case I just bypass the proxy on the browser settings. (It's in the same place where you set those settings in the first place.)
    Hope that helps:)
    There are liability issues involved though, with expectations of privacy and other policies, such as uniformly and randomly applying "keeping a closer eye". I wouldn't recommend firing anyone over that, as they could easily counter-sue.

    Hi AS,
    its used say you trigger your workflow in system A and want to trigger workflow in system B using the WF in system A, you could do that using WebActivity Step in system A workflow (though I havent used it).
    below is a link.

  • SOAP web-activity workflow step

    Hello,
    I want to start a function of an external application via ECC6 SOAP-message. The generated XML should look like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope
        xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance"
        xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"
        xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
        xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema"
        SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">
        <SOAP-ENV:Body>
            <namesp1:writeLog xmlns:namesp1="Project/SAP/Response"/>
        </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    Therefore I put an web-activity step into my workflow. SAP generated the container
    - SoapMethodName
    - SoapMethodNsPrefix
    - SoapMethodNsValue
    - SoapMethodAttributes
    - SoapHeader
    - SoapParameterExtension
    At the moment I marked them as import- and exportparameter and defined the following initial values:
    - SoapMethodName => writeLog
    - SoapMethodNsPrefix => namesp1
    - SoapMethodNsValue => Project/SAP/Response
    I ran the workflow-test and got this results:
    - [Workflow|http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/738/soapworkflowyk5.jpg]
    - [Test|http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/4003/soapworkflowtestft6.jpg]
    - [Log|http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/5776/soapworkflowlogwi0.jpg]
    Can someone take me by the hand for configurating the workflow-step correctly?
    Regards
    Daniel

    Hello Daniel,

    First:
    SoapMethodName => ?

  • How i use OEM 12c to monitor Microsoft Active directory.

    Hi,
    How i use OEM 12c to monitor Microsoft Active directory.Please assist me on this.
    Thanks,
    Sagar

    Hi,
    The fundamental problem with this scenario is that you have non-failover capable modules in a failover chassis - think of the ASA failover pair as one device and the IPS modules as two completely separate devices.
    Then, as already mentioned, add only the primary ASA. (The secondary will never be passing traffic in standby mode so it's not actually needed in MARS) Then, with the first IPS module you can add it as a module of the ASA or as a standalone device (MARS doesn't care). With the second IPS module the only option is to add it as a separate device anyway.
    In a failover scenario the ASA's swap IP's but the IPS's don't so whereas you'll only ever get messages from the active ASA you'll get messages from both IPS IP's depending on which one happens to be in the active ASA at the time.
    Don't forget that you have to manually replicate all IPS configuration every time you make a change.
    HTH
    Andrew.

  • Why won't Apple allow an app like Covenant Eyes to monitor internet activity on the Safari browser on iOS?

    Why won't Apple allow an app like Covenant Eyes to monitor internet activity on the Safari browser on iOS?

    Yes, that is the app.  It is used to monitor your internet activity, but because Apple won't allow an app like Covenant Eyes to monitor the Safari browser or any other browsers the Covenant Eyes app has to be its own browser which causes some issues.  You can't click on a link and have it open because the iOS tries to open Safari by default when you do that.
    I'm just wondering if there is anywhere on Apple's website that discusses this type of thing, why they don't allow an app like Covenant Eyes to monitor the Safari browser.  The Covenant Eyes program for Macs will monitor internet activity on the computer.

  • Email answer to incoming Web activity in IC Web client

    Hello,
    we want to enable a IC Agent to correspond to web requests (=activities entering in agents Inbox created by interface) with an email to Interaction partner of the (web) activity.
    We do not use telefony integration.
    What do I have to consider en customizing?
    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards,
    Cristina

    HI,
    If i understand correctly then you want to see the incoming mail in the inbox and send replies from there.
    Have you enabled SAP CCS. You will have to customize
    Interaction Center WebClient -> Agent Inbox -> Settings for Asynchronous Inbound Processing
    for receiving the email, with the help of your email administrator.
    For sending the email out, ensure that you have the email profile and maintain the customizing under
    Interaction Center WebClient -> Basic Functions -> Communication Channels.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Rajiv

  • CF8 cfthread, server monitor, and active threads

    When I run this code:
    cfthread
    part III or any cfthread without a thread join and then go to
    the CF Administrator -> Server Monitor -> Statistics ->
    Active ColdFusion Threads, I don't see the threads ever going away.
    They just build and build everytime I run it. I can get it to
    go all the way up to 400+ threads and stay there untill I restart
    Jrun. I think this is a monitor issue because I'd hate to think
    those threads are tied up and still active.
    Thoughts?

    Neo,
    I have noticed the same thing. Now for the odd part. If you
    click the 'start monitoring' button and then run your thread test,
    the threads don't appear in the Active Coldfusion Thread report!
    When running our application, I noticed the Coldfusion thread
    count getting up to 80,000+ threads in the span of a couple of
    hours. If we can't figure out what is causing this, we are going to
    downgrade back to CF7

  • HT4865 How does icloud monitor malicious activity?

    How does icloud monitor malicious activity?

    You can use the reports function in VMS SecMon to do this. Cook up a report that looks for the OUT source direction (source packets with IP's NOT internal to your network - You DID set the IN variable, right?) then add in the sigs you have shunning enabled (do this by sig number, it's a LOT easier), select the sensor you want to report on, and you're done. If you want you can have SecMon Email the reports to you.

  • Cancel-event for web activity possible?

    Hi all,
    is there a possibility, to cancel a web activity until it is in wait mode for a xml
    message from a partner system (like ending events in normal task types)?
    I just found the condition for ending the workitem in the task properties, which should be evaluated through the periodical observation job for workitem ending conditions.
    Cheers
    Jens

    Hi,
    there IS no possibility to terminate a Web Activity through a terminating event. I wrote this in the first statement.
    The Web Activity can only be terminated, if the Workflow Template itself becomes logical deleted. This is the case i.e. for purchase requisitions, if a new releasestrategy triggers a new release workflow.
    The Workflow itself goes on, only if a asynchronous WebActivity answer arrives.
    I've solved this problem by using a very fine steered communication mechanism, which allways reports the actual state with it's partner. Expensive, but it works fine!
    Cheers
    Jens

  • Tool for monitoring CPU activity

    hi all
    is there any tool beside "top" that can monitor CPU activity in mi-range servers as SUNFIRE 4800 ?
    Because i need time slot to know the peak time of the CPU and its activity in real time
    P.S : i have Solaris 8 and Solaris 9
    Regards
    Timely

    Just to amuse yourself run sar and mpstat and prstat/top against the same time-slice on a multi-proc machine. I think you'll be surprised at how inaccurate sar is.
    Some portions of Solaris are very old and don't get updated. sar appears to be one of them.

  • How can I monitor the active access point + data c...

    My privider (o2 Germany) requires me to use different access points (APN, proxy) on my phone (N80) depending on the type of browsing I want do do (WAP vs. "normal" access), and each of them has a "high cost trap" if I use the wrong one for the particular service.
    Very annoying - up to the point that I consider not using the phone for online access at all because I'm so scared to run into uncontrollably high fees.
    Anyways. I wonder if there is add-on software for my phone that helps me monitor my data connection, i.e.:
    * show me the currently used access point at the top of the display (yes, I know I can go into some deep menus to look it up, but that's not very helpful or even easy to use)
    * automatically disconnect when the conn is idle for a while (One of the data modes is time-based, meaning I do not want to have it open all the time by accident)
    Currently, all I can see at the top of the display is that I have a data connection at all, but that does not give me enough information to know I'm in the right mode for what I'm doing.
    Thomas

    You can force a disconnect by pressing the red/hangup key for a couple of seconds when the phone is in the standby state.
    And in menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Packet data change the setting "Packet data conn." to "When needed" and leave the "Access point" setting there to "None".
    When you or apps on your phone are not doing any data transfer, then regardless of whether it is a WAP or "full" Internet packet data connection, you should not cumulate any charges.
    You can also move the Connection Manager app from the Tools submenu to the main menu, or even to the Active standby apps list (or the softkeys) for quicker access. No need to deep dive into menus for it then.
    And for individual apps, you can usually set the default access point to whatever is best to use for that particular app. For the browsers ("Web" and "Services") you can also make them ask you to pick the access point every time you connect.

  • Monitor Web Traffic

    I have deployed Leopard Server running on an older PowerMac G5 for use as an Internet Gateway in an office of about 40 people. The owner of that company is now saying that she suspects some employees of wasting time online instead of getting work done. Is there anyway to configure Leopard Server to record sites visited by client systems?
    The server is running server 10.5.6 and is offering the following services:
    DHCP
    DNS
    NAT
    Firewall

    You're looking for grains of sand in mountains of data. And you don't know what the particular grains you're looking for look like, and the identities of the grains shift near-continuously. Even with enterprise-scale storage pools and enterprise-scale processing and a team that tracks the sites, you'll still miss piles of interesting and relevant access details with tcpdump or such. (With the increasing use of fast-flux DNS and of breached hosts, DNS-based tracking is somewhere between difficult and futile; the malware sites adapt faster than the defenses can react and register.)
    DNS gets you domain names, which may or may not be interesting. It's easy enough to mask domains, too. And you can also snag activity off the local DNS server, if you do decide to go that way.
    As for fully-packaged options, Barracuda Networks, F5, Foundry, and a number of other vendors offer gateways that deal with spam, antivirus and web access monitoring and web content. There are various names and trade names for these boxes, including Unified Threat Management. Toss one of these boxes at the problem as a budgetary test, if nothing else. As a test of how serious this request is.
    This reply very deliberately ignores the organizational implications and the inherent politics of the task you've been given here, as well.

  • Monitoring web services

    Hello, I have an OpenESB environment and I'm working with web services. I wonder, what is the best way to monitoring the behavior of these services?
    I used the Glassfish Web console, but I am not able to obtain information about response times to Web services that make proxy, or time used in services orchestrated in BPEL.
    It is possible do it from the Glassfish console with any particular configuration, or there is any opensource tool responsible for this.
    Thank you, a greeting.

    For monitoring BPEL orchestrated services (process status, activity, variables, suspend/resume/terminate instances), we have open source bpel monitor API and command line tool. We are working on a graphic version of BPEL monitor, but you can find a simple one contributed by a member in the community:
