SSAS Tabular - return number of days in given month using month's start date?
Is there a way to return the number of days in a month by providing just the month date or month start date?
We have a time table, but it is at monthly (not daily) granularity.
So I can't just count rows between start/end of month.
I need to be able to divide by the number of days in a given month and can't seem to find a way to get number of days in that given month.
Thanks!Hi,
According to your description, you want to get the number of days in a month with the month's start date, right?
In this case, we can get the first day of next month using DateAdd function, and then use DateDiff function to calculate the number of days in this month. Here is a sample query for your reference.
WITH
MEMBER Measures.Today AS vba!Now()
member measures.FirstDayOfNextMonth as dateadd("m",1,Measures.Today)
member measures.daysnumber as datediff("d",Measures.Today,measures.FirstDayOfNextMonth)
select Measures.daysnumber on 0

I am building a monthly time sheet. I need all the dates to populate once the initial date is chosen by the user. I have this working properly for each month that has 31 days. For months with 30 days, it populates the first day of the next month. How do I make sure that the only the dates for the month selected are populated?
Any help is appreciated!
TracyHello!
Thank you for your response, but I can not get it to function properly.
I added a text field to calculate the number of days. Here is the script I placed in the text field:
form1.commentSub.NoofDays::calculate - (FormCalc, client)
var StartDate = Ref(SubPg1.tableSub.Table1.Row1.Date1)
var EndDate = Ref(SubPg1.tableSub.Table1.Row2.Date2)
var MonthStart = Date2Num(Date1.formattedValue, "MM/DD/YYYY")
var nMonth = Num2Date(MonthStart, "MM") ; Current Month
var nDay = Num2Date(MonthStart, "DD") ; Current Day
var nYear = Num2Date(MonthStart, "YYYY") ; Current Year
var nFirstDay = Date2Num(Concat(nMonth,"01", nYear), "MM/DD/YYYY") ; First Day in the current month
var nLastDay
var nCountDays = nFirstDay
StartDate.rawValue = Num2Date(nFirstDay, "MM/DD/YYYY") ; Set first day of month as start date
; Determine number of days in the current month
var nMonthCheckStart = Num2Date(nFirstDay, "MM")
var nMonthCheckEnd
for i=0 upto 31 step 1 do
nCountDays = nCountDays + 1
nMonthCheckEnd = Num2Date(nCountDays , "MM")
if(nMonthCheckStart == nMonthCheckEnd) then
nLastDay = nCountDays
endif
endfor
EndDate.rawValue = Num2Date(nLastDay, "MM/DD/YYYY") ; Set lastday of month as end date
$.rawValue = Num2Date(nLastDay, "DD") ; Set number of days this month
In the date field where the user selects the date. I have this:
form1.SubPg1.tableSub.Table1.Row1.Date1::exit - (FormCalc, client)
var dayNum = Date2Num($.formattedValue,"MM/DD/YY")

Process/Production Order WIP Reverse on Month starting date with postiing d
Hi Experts,
Is it possible to reverse the WIP of Production/Process Order at month starting date eg. 01/07/09. Posting date & Document date should be: 01/070/09.
In my current project production is batch management system. Some of the batches start at month ending days (Eg. 29/06/09) for we calculated WIP at dated: 30/06/09.
My Client wants to reverse that WIP next day, month starting hours Eg. 01/07/09 but while reversing the WIP system is posting the WIP reversing doc. posting date is 31/07/09.
Same batch which started production on 29/06/06 is closed at 03/07/09 as well as goods received same date. FG Stock A/c updated in accounting books.
At the same day If I print my trail balance system showing the Stock value double (WIP stock as well as FG stock)
First Month
Eg. Process Order WIP at 30/06/09 : 50000/-INR
Second Month
WIP Reversal Posting date:31/07/09 by system : 50000/-INR
FG Stock received at 03/07/09 : 50000/-INR
If I Print Trail Balance on 03/07/09 system shows : 1, 00, 000/-INR (based on Posting date)
Which is wrong..
Please tell me the way for Change the Posting date of WIP reverse document. OSS guys are replying as consulting issue.
I am waiting for your valuable reply.

Select Expert Record. Last 6 months and week start date on Monday
Hello,
i am trying to use the select expert record to grab the last 6 months worth of data. I require the week start day to be a monday and end on a sunday.
Can someone please provide some advice the best way to do this
kind regards
davidHello Abhilash,
Once again thanks for your reply.
Yes this is correct, when it goes back 6 months i need it to skip the days prior and begin on a monday as we are reporting on a mon-sunday basis.
I have tried your formula Date field >= dateadd('m',-6,currentdate) and it seems to grab 6 months of data, but the group weeks are not grouping from Monday to Sunday...
kind regards

Get the starting date and end date of all weeks of a given month and year
hey Guys so far I have this.. but I am having difficulty limiting it by month. I am using Oracle 11 release 1
Select year, week, next_day( to_date( '04-jan-' || year, 'dd-mon-yyyy' ) + (week-2)*7, 'sun' ) as weekStartDate,
next_day( to_date( '04-jan-' || year, 'dd-mon-yyyy' ) + (week-2)*7, 'sun' ) +6 as weekEndDate
from (Select '2012' year, rownum week from all_objects where rownum<=5)
Thanks in advance
Edited by: Aj05 on Jan 12, 2012 7:42 AMFirst you need to define week starting day. If, for example it is Monday:
TRUNC(TRUNC(&dt,'YYYY') -1,'IW')is first Monday of the year. Then:
SELECT TRUNC(TRUNC(&dt,'YYYY') -1,'IW') + (LEVEL - 1) * 7 week_start_date
FROM DUAL
CONNECT BY LEVEL <= 53
/will give start dates of all weeks within &dt year. And:
WITH t AS (
SELECT TRUNC(TRUNC(&dt,'YYYY') -1,'IW') + (LEVEL - 1) * 7 week_start_date
FROM DUAL
CONNECT BY LEVEL <= 53
SELECT week_start_date,
week_start_date + 6 week_end_date
FROM t
WHERE week_start_date > TRUNC(&dt,'MM')
AND week_start_date < ADD_MONTHS(TRUNC(&dt,'MM'),1)
/will give you week start/end dates within &dt year and month. For example:
SQL> DEFINE dt="DATE '2012-03-17'"
SQL> WITH t AS (
2 SELECT TRUNC(TRUNC(&dt,'YYYY') -1,'IW') + (LEVEL - 1) * 7 week_start_date

Calculate end date from inputs : start date and number of months
Hello Experts,
I have a start date and number of months from which i need to calculate the end date.
For Eg: start date = 03-12-2008
no. of months = 48
Ans: end date = 03-12-2012
Please help me.requirement is no different from what is stated in the previous thread.
To elaborate further, I'm looking for some Function Module or some relevant alternative to calculate the future date.
Future date is calculated using a start date input and No. of months.
As stated in the example in my previous thread.
For eg:
Inputs to FM : Start date : 03-12-2008
No. Of months : 48 months
Output from FM: Future Date : 03-12-2012
Looking forward for your reply. -
RAR 5.3 SP8 - Action Usage by User Report - Change Start Date?
Hello,
When we run the report "Action Usage by User" in RAR, it shows a default "Start Date" of 1/12/2009. RAR put this in there on its own. We never got the Action Usage Generation Job working correctly until a few weeks ago (we had some issues that SAP addressed and then it took time to get resources to go back and resolve some things on our side). Since we've only had the background job that pulls STAD data running successfuly since 10/3/2009 (it runs every 6 hours), we'd like to change the default "Start Date" on that Report Screen to be 10/3/2009. This way, users are not confused into thinking when they run the report and leave the date set as 1/12/2009, they are getting tcode usage data since that date. Because they're not getting tcode usage since that date. Our records really only go back to 10/3/2009.
We could instruct our users to change the date every time but we feel it'd be easier if we just changed the date so they didn't have to worry about it.
Does anyone know how we could tweak this? What table that default date would be under? How could we modify?
Thanks!!
JesThe table where that date is is VIRSA_CC_USAGECTL
If you use the debugger tool, you'll see there's only 1 row in this table. You'll find the FROMDATE, TODATE, and FILENAME columns. I FILENAME column should be null.
Row FROMDATE TODATE FILENAME
1 2009-01-12 9999-12-31
If possible, could you confirm you are seeing similiar information?
The issue we are having is trying to figure out how to update this table...we need that FROMDATE to be 2009-10-03.
Thanks!

How long does it take to update the Ipod to version 1.2 software?
My Ipod has now been updating to software revision 1.2 for over 20 minutes, is this normal? Since there is no option to cancel the update on Itunes, my only option apeears to be disconnecting the USB. What risk does this pose to the IPod? Thanks.
