More AVCHD Questions. Layman terms requested.

I am getting lost in all the lingo and computer speak. I am new to Mac... like many others I have made the switch and find myself lost. I spent years learning Adobe Premiere and now I feel hopeless and confused. I am using a Sony SR-10 AVCHD camera. Is it safe to say this camera is not a good match for Final Cut Express? Would I be better off using Premiere for Mac? Like others when I use log & Transfer I get the "no data" icon. I am not clear if I've seen a fix for this. I have a G4 with Mac OS X 10.5.7.
Am I also reading that you can't transfer SD into FCE? I transferred my SD into imovie but can't export them to FCE. Last week I was able to transfer HD into imovie then into FCE... I am so discouraged right now. I don't want to go back to adobe premiere... Please help me if you can... All I want to do is get my SD files into FCE. I'll tackle the HD transfer after I tackle the SD problem. HELP!

Sadly you cannot transfer SD into FCE. I learned that the hard way (it might have been my plaintiff post that you read for help!)
You can take the SD that you import into iMovie09 on Full Quality, export them as .mov files and then take them into FCE. I made sure that the export settings on iMovie09 were done through Export using Quicktime, and checked the settings to be sure that my size was sufficient, Quality at Best, etc. I am working with those clips in FCE at the moment.
But I had to go out and buy a MacPro with Intel inside, and FCE AFTER I just bought my new Sony HDR XR520V camera so that I could edit the film I was shooting. An expensive month... my old G5 with FCP 4.5 was just not up to it.

In CRM 5.0 with SP11 product catalog staging becomes available. Can someone describe with this would be advantageous in layman terms?
In COMV_PCAT_REPL we had to switch back to setting A (old functionality) as it seems there were a bunch on new notes to apply after going to SP11. I'm having a hard time justifying if it is worth the effort to be able to use staging and determine the value. We have about 10K sellable products and only 1 catalogue.
For us, new products were not replicating (being found in ISA) when using B, C, or D despite COMM_PCAT_IMS_INIT running successfully with no errors.

As per the industry definition of "staging" in e-commerce applications, we understand that it is a temporary area where the data resides before being published live.
In SAP terms, they have mentioned that it enables version at the Product Catalog Variant level, as against the existing version available at the Product Catalog Area and Product Catalog item level.
Version simply means you have an active / inactive status that you can set to your areas, items and now, variants through which you are able to control what elements are published immediately and what elements are kept for delayed publishing. This is controlled by publishing the Active Product Catalog variant with its active contents only to the TREX Master and not to the slaves. Here, business users concerned with the Quality assurance of the elements may check the content before it is published to be viewed by customers. This is a standard practice in the ecommerce industry which is introduced now in SAP CRM Internet Sales.
This as you have apprehended is not worth the effort. A simpler solution would be to maintain two different TREX systems. You can then control the publication of the catalog contents by specifying the appropriate Search Server Relation at the time of replication.
In essence, SAP too has proposed the same solution where the other TREX systems are slaves, however, in my opinion this would be an easier alternative.
I hope you have some clarity on the issue now. Let me know if you require any more information.

I get a bogus window hovering in my itunes page, telling me I have to update information, that I don't want to manage.
I am not upset or unappreciative of your feedback, quite the opposite, I can't believe anyone actually monitors peoples frustrations.
I just want to make sure I don't allow information about me that is not necessary. I just want to listen to music and have a phone and have an ipad.
Everything else about apple is way to propriatory. I don't want to do anything that isn't very simple.
Most importantly, there never seems to be any (human being) that can answer a telephone call anymore.
Contact us, means...send us an email about something you don't know anything about, and I don't even know that questions to ask.
I am not allowed to be ignorant. If I am I wait days for answers.....

Payment Terms for more than 3 payment terms in OBB8

Hi Gurus,
Please advise as to how to create for more than 3 instances, say 4 or 5. Because standard SAP provides only for 3. Let me brief you as below :
- I created the 5 payment Terms in OBB8. 5001 (clicking as instalment) ; 5002 for 5% - 30 days ; 5003 for 4% for 60 days ; 5004 for 3% for 90 days and 5005 for Net 180 days.
- I assigned these 5002 to 5005 to 5001 with say 25% instalment each in OBB9.
- Now I assigned this 5001 payment term in the Vendor Master.
- Posted new FB60 invoices with say 01st Oct 09 as Document Date with say Rs. 25000/-
- Now, I have to make the payment to the Vendor on say 15th November 2009.
- So ideally I am eligible for 4% discount on Rs. 25000/- since I am paying after 30 days and before 60 days.
- I am posting through F-53 with 15.11.2009 as the document data, and now the system is not calculating discount for the first instalment of 25% instalment and for the next 25% the discount is calculated @ 4% on 25% only.
- Now my requirement is to calculate 4% discount in Rs. 25000/-.
Can any one suggest the required approach.

Unfortunatelly payment terms in OBB8 is working as designed and the functionality cannot be enhanced. In the standard system you cannot add additional levels in the transaction OBB8.
Instead you can check the option of using Terms of Payment for Installment Payments (transaction OBB9). Terms of payment for installment payments are made up of individual terms of payment. An individual payment term can be assigned to each installment. When you post an installment payment, the total amount is split up into individual items for each installment and each installment
is calculated with the relevant payment term. For more information on maintaining terms of payment, refer to the Implementation Guide for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
The terms of payment key can determine the following:
-The valid cash discount rate for an individual payment with a maximum of 3 payment terms (first cash discount period, second cash discount period, and due date for net payment) and also a baseline date for the payment
-The terms of payment for installment payments.
You define the following for the terms of payment key for installment payments:
- Sequential number of the installment
- Percentage rate for the installment
- New terms of payment key for the installment item
The percentage rates you specify must total 100%.
Example
Suppose you can create payment term NT30 (30 days net), NT60 (60 days net), NT90 (90 days net).
Installment terms of payment
RT01   1   30%   NT30
RT01   2   30%   NT60
RT01   3   40%   NT90

It also asks for a second email address. It then proceeds to lock up. Is this a scam of some sort. There is nothing on the apple website about having additional security questions other than the one, or having a second email to operate the ipod.

You need to contact Apple to get the questions reset. Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team, or fill out and submit this form.
Whichever method you use, you probably won't get a response until the 26th. If you absolutely must make a purchase before then, create a new Apple ID; you won't be able to transfer previous purchases or iTunes Store credit to it.

More XControl questions / issues

XControl 1, X1, has two other XControls, X2 and X3, on its
block diagram
When I open a VI with X1 on it, the Init ability is called
for X2 and X3 three times each. X1’s
Init ability is called one time. (The
other VIs you see pop up are called from X2 and X3 as a result of Init
executing, so they illustrate the Init calls.
They close when Uninit is called, and you can see as much when you close
the VI and project)
When I close said VI, the Uninit ability is called for X1
and called twice for X2 and X3. This, of
course, leaves one instance of X2 and X3 left open. Consequently, references and VI’s I opened as
a result of the Init call are left open (you notice the two subvi's still open).
Once I close the project, the Uninit abilities are called
for X2 and X3, closing the remaining resources.
There is a file in the folder called log.txt I write to in
the init and Uninit abilities for each XControl. If you open it after each step you can see
what I’m talking about.
Additional things:
After I close the VI, but not the project, X2 and X3 are of course
locked. When I right click “Unlock this

I'm sorry that this has been a frustration to you. The fastest way to resolve this issue appears to upgrade. Have you attempted to reproduce this error in LabVIEW 2010 SP1? I was unable to reproduce this situation in LabVIEW 2010 SP1.
The CPP error is due to some issue with how this has been internally developed. It appears to have been resolved in LabVIEW 2010 SP1 as do the other issues you have been dealing with. Can you please confirm this for me? I am happy to further address this issue to ensure your success. All the best!

Ok, I know there have been countless threads on this before, and people are complaining and arguing and offering their two cents all over the place, which is great.... BUT -
I have an aluminium MacBook and a MiniDV camcorder. What I want to know is what are my options for getting my footage onto my laptop? I would love an answer in layman's terms please - some practical advise on the cheapest, most feasible way around this problem.

I posted this under an answered question but realized I should have started a new thread.
Some more questions on transactions:

In the above code does the txn.commit() have to happen after the processing of the result? In other words what happens if the transaction is committed before the while loop?
Second question, in another section of the code I am doing similar to the above the difference is the query result is a list of documents to be deleted so the while loop is more like this:

container->deleteDocument(txn, on.asString(), context);
If I am deleting several thousand documents (in this case 2300) will there be an issue with the transaction being able to hold that many deletes?

2 good questions.
1. It depends. If you have returned constructed content (e.g. return <foo>{...}</foo>) where the values will not refer to the container nodes then you can safely commit right after the query unless you are using lazy evaluation, in which case you cannot commit until you are done iterating. If any results may point into the container you cannot commit until you've processed them all or can otherwise guarantee that you won't touch the container outside the transactions.
If you violate the rule you'll get an exception saying so.
2. 2300 results isn't that large. The issues related to deleting so much content in a single transaction include:
a. a lot of data written to the log at commit time
b. using a fair bit of resource in terms of locks, etc
c. concurrency -- holding off other operations. document deletion is at least as time-consuming as insertion
If any of these are real problems for you, you could copy the document names somewhere and delete them in bite-size chunks in separate transactions.

I have just played a little bit with it, and a question comes to my mind.
When you select a color, i.e, RGB 33,26,21, is there a way to edit not only this puntual color but a range of similar tones ?
Like editing a "field" around the color point selected, and being able to modify how widespread this "field" is or even it's form, and defining a "fallof zone" in wich the changes are applied in a subtler degree ... this would provide a way to define the range of colors affected ...and posiibly prevent posterization.
So... this is my question. And if the answer is "No"... then make it a request :)
Now, a direct request. Can a "gamut safeguard" or "gamut indicator" be implemented ?
This way, we would know if the color change we've just made to the camera profile fits inside a given color space (or not).
I think this "gamut comparison engine" could be put to different uses, like visually indicating what colors of the current image would fit inside our printer color profile (and therefore would not need conversion),or alerting the user that the last change they've made to the color profile will exceed his screen/printer capabilities of representing it faithfully.
I guess this might be able to allow the creation of profiles for a given camera that would give users the power to decide in advance how a given color would render when printed.
Dou you think this is a good/bad idea (or a stupid one) ?

Now that I've been playing with it a bit more it's clear that every color point implies a color range, though I didn't realize the ranges were being readjusted every time a new point is selected (I did not tried "Show Affected Colors" before)
I think the "auto-selected" ranges are too big. It should help to get smooth transitions (the weird thing is, I've had bad results when trying to increase the blue color saturation ... maybe I increased it too much ?)
I suppose the auto selected ranges need to be this big to ensure continuity, but when i want to adjust a certain range of skin tone color... every skintone seems to be affected by the change in some degree.
Another example : Let's say I want to add more saturation to the originally already saturated colors, and only those -- i.e. strong red or blue, to make it even stronger. I can't, because almost every blue gets its saturation increased at the same time.
Maybe the workaround could be to select a few more color points around my intended one, those colors I don't want to alter, to prevent it. It seems more difficult than necessary for my needs, but I'll try to see if I can make it work that way.
That's why I asked for selectable ranges. Does it make any sense ? Or maybe the functionality is there, but I'm not used to this approach yet ?
Now, another thing I've been thinking about. When representing changes in saturation, hue and lightness in the color circle... wouldn't a 3d graph be more convenient to show it ?
Maybe not really necessary, but I suppose a fully rotable 3d graph would better give us a visual idea of what's happening with every adjustment we make than a 2d circle. Or just keep the circle for simplicity and add the 3d graph as an option.
This 3d graph would come handy too if the "gamut safeguard" was ever implemented. Nothing like "seeing" if the profile you are tweaking fits into the color space of reference, or not.

How to avoid more than one debit memo request referenced to an invoice

I can create a debit memo request with reference to an invoice more than once time, which means I can have many debit memos request with whole reference to the same invoice number. How can I avoid it or notify to the user while creating a debit memo request that an invoice number has already a created debit memo request.
I already check the requirement and transfer routines in copy control but I cannot use table VBFA to verify if there is a previous debit memo request, and also I verify the configuration of the debit memo request.

You're saying that you cannot check VBFA for previous Debit Memo Requests - is this because the previous Debit Memo Requests do not appear in the invoice's document flow? If so, please check Copying Control: Billing Document to Sales Document (item) - is the Update document flow box checked?

Macpro CS4 yep, it's another AVCHD question

I have read so many threads over the last few days that I am getting dizzy and confused. I picked up a JVC GZ_HD620 camcorder. on one of the sites I read "No Apple software can edit AVCHD natively. You'd need Premiere Pro" My questions are as follows;
a) What is the best way to import/download the files?
         1) directly to desktop using different software.
         2) directly through import to prepro
         3) to windows 7 on my mac
b) However I do it I think I would like to keep it as an h.264 i.e. QT
c) Understanding that due to the composition of AVCHD's whatever size file I download will expand in a big way, I was thinking to save the expanded file on a 1tb hd. This way I could slice out portions to work on as opposed to the whole file???

my thoughts....
1) directly to hard drive ( not desktop which is your boot drive ( c drive )...using 3rd party capture
2) h264 is highly compressed and not happy in editors..if you want to edit its best to use cineform or something to make it more friendly to editors, and yes it will get bigger in byte count ...no way around it really so far as I know but maybe someone will bash my head against the wall and tell me I'm an idiot...what do I know ?
3) slicing stuff I think I heard can be done with HDsplit ( free program? )...3rd party...maybe you can split it as you capture by giving a file size parameters as you capture.. save some time

A few more Solaris questions

I'm sure this isn't the best place to post this, but I currently have a file server running Solaris 11 with a raid-z2 pool and I'm building a new vmware server out of some parts I've managed to get some good deals on might I add.
I'm building on a supermicro x8dt3-f board that has an LSI controller on board with a pair of xeon 5570's and 48gb ram. The processors and ram actually came from a sun blade that was tossed out for recycling, sadly the box had never been opened, but i got these for pennies on the dollar, so i'm happy
I'd like to move the current Solaris file server into a VM on the new ESXi 5.1 host and passthrough the LSI controller.
I've been reading, and reading and reading and i find the more i read, the more questions I have and the less clear some of the answers are getting.
First, from what I gather, Solaris 11 has only been added to the supported guest list in ESXi with the recent esxi 5.1 version as I understand? So all should be fine here? Can someone confirm?
second, i've read about issues with LSI controllers under solaris 11. Is this something that has been addressed in 11.1?
Third, trying to find the best method to conver the physical system to virtual under ESXi
The first thing I plan on doing is backing up my data from the pool, though it will be scattered across a few systems. Then I plan on exporting the pool to move the disks physically to the new controller in the VM. The question I have here, is will the share flags and permissions be retained when I import the pool? or do I have to redo all that?
But then, what's the best method to move it to a VM? The one document I see come up the most is moving a physical solaris system into a zone on another system. Can it be transferred to the global zone? Could I do a new install in a VM, and move the existing install to the global zone, import my pool and call it a daY?
Or do I dd the OS disk, convert the image and drop it into vmware, get the hardware working, and then import the pool?
Or is there a better way? Has anyone got any online docs in mind that may help specifically with this migration? everything i'm finding is scattered, maybe i'm not looking for the right things but I could use some pointers if anyone has suggestions.
I suppose I should note, i have it integrated with an Active directory, this is why i'm worried about permissions being retained when i import the pool
I just want this to go as quickly and smoothly as possible, with as little headache as possible. it's my home setup, so realistically it takes the time it takes as long as things go smooth

I know this may not be the answer you are looking for, but I think you are making it more difficult than it needs to be.
One other option is to leave your Solaris Storage server on the bare metal of this new beast of a machine you are piecing together. Then, use VirtualBox 4.2.6 which is support quite well in Solaris to run whatever virtual machines you where intending ESXi to be used for.
This way you have the fastest possible storage setup without the issues of hardware passthrough. And the fast storage now benefits the VMs running on it. Not to mention the other neat options now of running lzjb compression for the VMs. either using zvols for the VMs, or just virtualbox vdi files sitting on a compressed zfs filesystem.
As far as the LSI 1068E controller goes, their website only shows drivers for Solaris 10. So unless Solaris 11 has the drivers built in, you may not be able to use that controller. Believe me I feel your pain in this one.. I have the d#$$!est time finding good SAS HBAs for Solaris 11.1 and the few I did find had questionable drivers. Areca 1320 cards seem to work well, as do Adaptec 64xx and 68xx raid cards. LSI has a new line that supposedly works with Solaris 11.
My advice is to try a baremetal install of Solaris 11.1 on the new machine and see if you can recognize drives on the LSI controller, if not then use the 6 onboard SATA ports if that is enough for the drives. DTP Questions: Delete overlapping requests; Repair Full Request

I'm new with the DTP concept in BI 7.0.
It is clear to me how DTP is working for normal loads like: full, delta, delta without data transfer etc.
But I don't see where I can specifies "Delete overlapping requests". Is this still possible in a DTP, or is it only possible by creating a Process Chain and insert the process-type "delete overlapping requests" ?
Also I have a question about "Repair Full request" using DTP. Is this option still possible ? Or do I have to create a DTP with extraction-mode = Full => Extraction from Active table. => Is delta than still working ?

This option is available only in Process Chains when u use DTP's.

Also I have a question about "Repair Full request" using DTP. Is this option still possible ? Or do I have to create a DTP with extraction-mode = Full => Extraction from Active table. => Is delta than still working ?
Full Load was made Repair Full to Initialize if loading an ODS but however you dont need to worry abt the same in Netweaver 7.0 as DTP is taking care of the loading from PSA to DSO.
Initialization can be done after a full load as the load is only till PSA ( At Datasource Level ).
DTP doesnot require any initialization.
U can jst do a Delta DTP after a Full DTP to a DSO or u can even start with a Delta DTP directly.
For the first time -> Delta DTP = Full DTP !!
