More IP address in rc.conf ?

I am using 2 IPs. One is a private and next one is public IP address. The following questions are:
1. How Can I write both IPs to rc.conf ?
2. How can I restart rc.conf without restart PC ?

Here is what I use. Both local, but it is easy to expound on this...

Useful for binding lots of ips to a single host..for things like webhosting (ip based virtual hosting, so each host can have its own SSL Cert).
It is also nice for providing mutliple services. I have a dns server running on .41, but not on .40.

If you are trying to add more email addresses to your "Allowed Senders" list in ePrintCenter you need to click the icon in your ePrintCenter account labeled "ePrint Settings". From here, click the button next to "Allowed Senders Only" if it is not already selected. All you need to do from here is type an email address in the blank text box and click the button "+ Add Email" and it should be displayed below in the list of Allowed Senders. Make sure you click "Save" to keep these settings after you have finished.

Major mail problem: "One or more recipient address was invalid"

Hello,
I had my iPhone 3G for 2 weeks now. I have been experiencing some major e-mail problems - basically, I cannot send e-mails to anyone except myself. When I type in my address (the same one that I send an e-mail from) it all goes well. When I type any other valid one, it does not get through. I keep on getting a pop-up message "Cannot send mail: One or more recipient address was invalid" - even though the addresses *are, actually, valid*.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Happens both with usual e-mails and with pic forwarding. Many thanks for your help.

I'm using a POP account. Still - I can send to myself, can't send anywhere else.
Might try deleting the account and then configuring it again. Hope it helps.
And yeah, I have the latest software.

X3000 connected to business ADSL (PPPoA) with more IP-addresses (8)

We use a x3000 for our business ADSL line (PPPoA) which has more IP-addresses (8),
Setting up the connection is no problem, but the subnet on the external IP-address is set to 255.255.255.255, so we only have one IP-address.
Is there a way to change this?

It depends, denkavit. These 8 IP addresses that you mentioned, are these local IP addresses or internet IP addresses? Are you trying to create multiple networks? Can not view cellular data account any more (email address does not match)

On iPad, was originally able to go into Settings > Cellular Data > View Account and view the account info. Now cannot. If try using correct email address and password, get message that account or password are incorrect. If try entering just the email address and clicking "forgot password", get "the email address you entered does not match the email address on file for this device".
But the 3G cellular is still working.
Don't know if related, but this problem began after the reports of the 100,000 iPads/users hack. Leads me to wonder if I got hacked.... or more likely if the system/database that "View Account" normally accesses is offline or being reworked by AT&T.
Any suggestions? Best AT&T contact via Internet? By phone #? By local AT&T store? Via Apple? Use iTunes to reset to factory defaults and start over (risk loss of unlimited plan?)?.

Thanks for the replies, I just had the same problem yesterday and it was a misspelled e-mail address, BUT, it did take me three calls to AT&T and more than two and a half hours. The first person didn't even know what I was talking about and gave me a number for iPad support which turned out to be Apple's, so... no help. The second person told me they were there only to solve iPhone problems until I read her your posts, then she tried and tried until the call was cut off (this is AT&T after all). But the third person finally understood, even though it took her almost an hour to get to their iPad support department (she told me it was busy all the time) not before trying with their "technical department" also. I just can't believe that Apple sells millions of these things and AT&T can't supply a direct phone number for this department, or doesn't even train their personnel.

Looking for a More Robust Address Book Application for Mac

I have been assigned the task of consolidating all of our mailing lists into a single file. The final database will be 10,000 entries.
Required:
- normal address book fields (name address, phones, email)
- six customizable fields (pull down menu or alpha)
- easy print to Avery laser labels for bulk labels
- easy print to Dymo label printer for one at a time labels
- email bulk mail or export functionality to send bulk emails
- interoperability with Apple Address Book, Apple Mail etc a plus
Can the Apple Address Book do this or is there a third part application that will do the trick?

Address Book is robust, but it's a contact manager, and you're wanting it to be a CRM application. There are a variety of CRM applications available some with sales tracking and others without:
Daylite
Redlien Account Executive
I'm told the developer for Redlien is not actively working on the product anymore, but I have no confirmation of that from the company.
You might also try reading this thread about these programs: Best CRM Tool for Mac. The first post was in 2006 and the most recent was in July 2008.

Adding more ip address to a hub/cas server

i used to have a casarray but since my HUB2 went down, there is only one HUB1 left. also, something happened to the WNLB such that i have to shutdown the CASarray too.
now we have many applications pointing to the ip address of the CASarray and are failing because the ip is no longer online.
can i add the ip address of the downed CASarray to the remaining HUB1 server? are there any possible problems with that scenario?

Rather than adding new Array IP address point those Application to CAS servers and work on fixing the NLB issue.
I personally don't like WNLB.
I would suggest you to get Hardware Load Balancer to get rid of these kind of situation in future. You can also use HLB as reverse proxy too. There are many things HLB can do where WNLB can't even think about it.
KEMP Hardware Load Balancer is one of the best and Cheapest product available in the market.

Why do I have to click each time in the "TO" bar to add an additional email address? Before 4.0, I could keep typing and adding more addresses.

When typing people to send my email to, I have ALWAYS been able to start typing and the address pops up, so I select it, then I can start another, and so on. NOW I can only start typing and select ONE email. The cursor is no where to be found and I can only add more email addresses by clicking EACH time in the address bar. HATE THIS!!!!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Cannot send email to Smart Group from Address Book

I created several Smart Groups in Address Book but I can't use any of them to send email. When I right-click the group name and choose Send Email, it opens my default email program (Thunderbird) and puts only the name of the Smart Group into the To: field, not the actual addresses.
If I try to actually send the message, I get the error that (name of group) "is not a valid e-mail address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the email."
What am I doing wrong? How can I get it to paste the actual addresses and not just the name of the group? I looked at the Edit Distribution List window and all the addresses are there.
I'm using OS X 10.5.7, Address Book 4.1.2 and Thunderbird 2.0.0.22.

What is the exact message you get when sending fails -- does it say there are one or more invalid addresses, or what?
Having a name in the list without email address or possibly one separated by comma between last and first might result similarly in an invalid address, and Mail will likely refuse to send to any. But if the message is from the SMTP, that might depend on the provider's policies for that.

How to configure multiple IP addresses on one NIC?

Hi,
I just installed a OVM Server in version 3.2.1 and the according VMManager. Now i wanted to try to configure the Server/Server Pool. Now i come across a problem, which was already a big problem in OVM 2 while configuring the Networks.
All our OVM Servers have three NICs in them. One is for VMs and Management, the others are for connection to our SAN (Dell PowerVault MD 3220i). My problem is, that due to the network setup, the two NICs for storage need two IP addresses in two different networks each. This shouldn't be a problem, because usually in linux all you have to do is configure something like eth1:1. I remember having huge trouble configuring it in our OVM 2 cluster up to the point where I had to write a shell script to configure the second IP.
Anyways, I have configured two of the storage networks on eth1 and eth2 of the VM Server. Now i cannot configure any more IP addresses, because eth1 and eth2 are not available anymore for configuration in a third network. I really hoped that it would be possible in OVM 3 to configure multiple IP addresses. And probably it is only my lack of knowledge of how to configure it.
So any advice is well appreciated.

You should be able to do this by using "VLAN Groups".

Check out the VLAN groups section. You must great the VLAN groups before you can assign them to interfaces.

How do I change my Apple ID to use my @me email address instead of my old email address?

Hi,
I recently started to use iCloud and have therfore now got an @me email address. I have managed to make it my primary email address but it won't let me make it my Apple ID even though there is an option to make your primary email address one of the same.
When I try it says "You cannot create an Apple ID using a MobileMe account. If this is your email address, it is also your Apple ID."
I can log in to Apple using my @me email address but it displays my old, not in use any more, email address and it really annoys me.
Does any one know how I can get it to use only my @me address and completely forget my old one?

There is a lot of confusion about Apple ID and I think this has come about mainly becuase Apple introduced .Me Accounts. Prior to that there was only .Mac. My iCal and Contacts were syncing fine until I visited "Manage Your Apple ID" I was prompted to change my Apple ID and Primary Email Address. After doing so I lost the syncing between devises as my iCloud on my iPhone was set to my .Me account and my MacBook Pro to .Mac.
Once you've changed your Apple ID and Primary Email Addressto .Mac you can't seemingly go back to .Me which I think is crazy. My work around has been to delete my iCloud Account on my iPhone and then set it up again using my .Mac Account. I now have to do the same on my MBP.
A word of caution before making any changes always make sure your iCal and Contacts info. are backed-up!

I have an issue with the address browser in mail in Yosemite

I am using IOS 10.10.1 now on an iMac and have discovered an issue with the address browser in mail.
Previously in my pending to send email toolbar there was a contacts icon which I clicked on to display my contacts list. I could hold down the Command button and select as many contacts I wanted (often up to 100), then select the field to send (to, ccc, bcc) and the contact would appear.
Now, I have to click the + sign at the end of the field line, and select recipients one at a time. Not only that, but I have to click twice to get to the email address, once on the name and then the email address drops down under the name and then I click on the email address. When I do that the drop down box disappears and the recipient's email address goes to the field. I have tried all combinations of buttons to be able to choose multiple addresses but haven't found the right one yet.
An Apple Support guy told me to open my regular Address book, and hold down the command button to choose multiple recipients then drag them to the field on my already opened send email.
This is one way around the issue (which wasn't an issue in Mavericks) but where some recipients have two or more email addresses listed in my contacts it means I have to manually go through the finished list on my emails to make sure the most desired one was selected. What a pain.
Also, previously, where I was sending out many emails and wanted to stop say half way down my list, and send, I could come back to that list for the next email and see where I'd got up to.
I don't want to make groups because my recipients vary depending on what I am sending so my lists change constantly.
Any suggestions?
Last point...who archives? On my regular email page I now have the Archive icon to the left of my Delete icon which I would prefer was to the left, first in the line as this is the icon I use mostly. With Folders, my Sent and Trash lists, who needs to archive?

I can help you only with the placement of the icon placement -- if you right-mouse click on the toolbar, then select Customize Toolbar, you can move an icon to where you want it to be.

How can I get Apple Mail to show recipient's full name AND email address

In Apple Mail v 6.3 (1503):
I am sending an email to a recipient listed in my Contacts. The recipient has 3 or more email addresses listed in Contacts. I want to send the email to some or all of the addresses.
As I start typing the guys name, the autocomplete feature gives me choices - ie.: In the TO: field and I select the first one, then the 2nd and so on.
However, what gets displayed in the TO: Box is this:

Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton
So, it is not displaying the address between the < >.
so how can I get all three addresses to display like the first one which shows both the name of the guy (as listed in contacts "FIRST" "LAST") and then the actual email address).
For example I'd like it to show:

Bill Clinton <[email protected]>
Bill Clinton <[email protected]
Bill Clinton <[email protected]>
Any direction in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not at my Mac to check, but try turning off Smart Addresses in the Viewing tab of Mail's Preferences.

IPv6 Addressing Point to Point Links in the enterprise

For an enterprise, it doesn't seem to make sense to use Global addressing for point to point, transit-only links and loopbacks.
Link-local only addressing breaks debugging tools like traceroute, DNS, etc.
Is Unique Local the correct choice for this?
I've searched quite a bit and I've not found a lot of discussion about scope selection for point to point links. Some RFCs such as 6164 imply Global scope vs Unique Local scope usage is a preference. Most discussions of point to point addressing focus on bit length. I'm assuming this means design concerns are agnostic toward scope selection.
Is anyone aware of documentation I've missed or have any recommendations in this area?
If ULA was the correct choice, address hierarchy might look like this:
DataNetwork1 -- Router1 -- ULA.1.1 -- Link -- ULA1.2 -- Agg Router -- Core
DataNetwork2 -- Router2 -- ULA.2.1 -- Link -- ULA2.2 -- Agg Router /
DataNetwork3 -- Router3 -- ULA.3.1 -- Link -- ULA3.2 -- Agg Router /
The network core would have summarized entries for DataNetwork[1|2|3] and ULA[1|2|3]. IE, there would be a Global hierarchy and a ULA hierarchy.

Let me break this down into some categories for you.
Address selection:
I believe that best practice is to use Global Unicast Addressing everywhere (coupled with a proper security policy at your edge). ULA was a compromise for Site Local never being properly defined and whilst it can be used in the same way as GUA I don't believe it is worth it. Irrespective of what you use (GUA or ULA), subject to your security and routing policy traceroute will work from both ends (e.g. you tracing out, someone tracing in)
Address masking:
The general rule of thumb is that you allocate /64s to eveything and then mask down to the appropriate mask for the function you are expecting (P.S. Forget everything you learnt about IPv4 address conservation). If you are using /127 masks then in theory every p2p link in your network is either a 0 (::) or a 1 (::1)
e.g.
traceroute HostB:
1     2001:1234:abcd:1::1
2     2001:1234:abcd:2::1
3     2001:1234:abcd:3::1
4     2001::4:10
The only exception to this is loopbacks, you can sequentially allocate /128s from the same /64 block
NOTE: /127 support is recent and may not be supported by some vendors, in this case use /126 masking (same as you would use /30s in IPv4)
If you have a /48 ( a normal enterise allocation) or larger then this should not be an issue ( you have access to 65536 x /64s) the only reason you would consider ULA for infrastructure numbering is because you have a small IPv6 pool. I would still argue you should get more IPv6 addresses than use ULA.
