More than one ejb in ejb-jar.xml ?

Can i have more than one ejb in a jar file ??

Include session and entity beans in your ejb-jar.xml with <session> &
<entity> tags.
<enterprise-beans>
<session>
</session>
<entity>
</entity>
</enterprise-beans>

    Hi,
    If EJB JAR A has persistent class Apple and EJB JAR B has persistent class Orange, then A can't open
    a PM because the registered class Orange can't be found, and B can't open a PM because the
    registered class Apple can't be found.
    This can't be right.

    David,
    There is one rather roundabout way that you should be able to set WarnOnPersistentTypes in Kodo JDO 2.3.0.
    Our configuration interface provides a DictionaryProperties dictionary configuration string. This string contains space-delimited key-value pairs that are set via reflection when a dictionary is created. So, if you set the DictionaryProperties configuration setting to 'WarnOnPersistentTypes=true', the right thing should happen.
    Note that you may need to muck with the ra.xml file to let JBoss know that the DictionaryProperties setting exists.

    Hi Marc,
    For some reason, this property doesn't seem to always take. Particulary, the schematool seems to
    ignore it even when it is in the system kodo.properties. In the case of EJB's how is it supposed to
    be set? I can't set it in the kodo-service.xml because of the JBoss issue with boolean properties.

    You need to have
    com.solarmetric.kodo.impl.jdbc.WarnOnPersistentTypeFailure set to true
    in order to run in an EJB container, otherwise Kodo tries to
    validate all the persistent classes on startup (which will fail, since
    EJB jars typically are loaded in a different ClassLoader than other EJB
    jars in the same environment).

  • More than one group in ias-web.xml role-impl?

    Hello,
    iAS 6.0 SP3 Solaris 8.
    According to the ias-web DTD, it possible to map more than one LDAP group
    or user to a role; i.e. it should be possible to say something like
    <role-mapping>
    <role-name>sales</role-name>
    <role-impl>
    <group>directsales</group>
    <group>salesmanagement</group>
    </role-impl>
    </role-mapping>
    When I do this, the 'roles' tab in ksvradmin shows both groups, so that's
    promising. However, when I actually try it, only users in the first group
    (directsales in the example) have the 'sales' role. Users in the second
    (and subsequent) groups do not have the role.
    What gives??

    Hi,
    Just check the roles in kregedit. You will find the roles in
    SOFTWARE\iPlanet\6.0\J2EE-modules. Please check it. And do th emapping if
    neccessary. You need to restart the server after doing role mapping. see if
    it helps.

  • More than one ANT Build-Script "build.xml" in a JDev Project?

    Hi,
    were using JDev 10.1.3.3 with our Projects in which i am trying to inject the code coverage tool "Cobertura".
    We want to handle Cobertura through ANT-Targets, so we have to set up an .XML-Buildscript.
    But we already have a Build.xml to cover our deployment needs.
    I don't want to put the cobertura-targets into our Build.xml - would be a mix of purpose to me...
    Instead of having one big .xml, i wanted to have "Build.xml" and "Cobertura.xml", but when generate the latter and put in the ANT-Project it isn't recognized as an ANT-Script, but as an ordinary XML.
    With new-->Ant-->buildfile i can only generate the "Build.xml".
    Is it possible to convert a regular XML into an Ant-Script, so that JDev would recognize them?!
    regards,
    Henning

  • How to use multiple ejb-jar.xml files

    Hello -
    If the project you work on has a lot of beans that you need to configure them in one ejb-jar.xml file. Then ejb-jar.xml file will be getting bigger and bigger. I am wondering if there is any way to divide the ejb-jar.xml file into multiple sub ejb-jar.xml files and then combin them together when deploy it. Same question question for the vendor ejb-jar.xml like weblogic-ejb-jar.xml.
    Thanks!
    Ben

    HI Ben,
    No, there is no notion of combining ejb-jar.xmls at deployment time in Java EE. There is no
    set limit on the number of ejb components within an ejb-jar module either.

    Hi Bhushan,
    one where clause is missing in the main update.
    update fm_profiledet
    set (....)
    =(select ....)
    where id in (select your profiledetails_pkey from the xml). <--this where clause were missing.
    if xml extracting is too slow(xml very large) then you can create a procedure where exract your data from the xml and then update rows in for loop.
    something like this
    create procedure up_xmls(p_xml xmltype) is
    cursor cur_xml(p_xml xmltype) is
    select ......<--here you extract your xml
    begin
    for r_row in cur_xml(p_xml) loop
    update fm_profiledet set target_source_table=r_row.target_source_table
    where profiledetails_pkey=r_row.profiledetails_pkey;
    end loop;
    end;this should work:

  • Can we declare more than one sequence tags in a complex type?

    Hi all,
    Can we use more than one <sequence> tags in the xml schema?
    <xs:complexType name="Demo">
    <xs:sequence minoccurs = "1" maxoccurs = "1">
    </xs:sequence>
    <xs:sequence minoccurs = "0" maxoccurs = "1">
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    If you observe the above sample xml there are two sequences in one complex type with different values for minoccurs and maxoccurs. Is this xml valid? why I need this is I have an
    XML with lot of elements some of them should have minoccurs = "1" maxoccurs = "1" and some other should have the other combination of min and max attributes. I want to
    declare it in the sequence rather than declaring beside each individual element. is that possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Is this xml valid? No, a complexType expects only one child, but you can do this :
    <xs:complexType name="Demo">
      <xs:sequence>
        <xs:sequence minOccurs = "1" maxOccurs = "1">
        </xs:sequence>
        <xs:sequence minOccurs = "0" maxOccurs = "1">
        </xs:sequence>
      </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>However...
    XML with lot of elements some of them should have minoccurs = "1" maxoccurs = "1" and some other should have the other combination of min and max attributes.
    I want to declare it in the sequence rather than declaring beside each individual element. is that possible?minOccurs and maxOccurs declared in the sequence apply to the sequence as a whole, not to its individual components.
    For example :
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
         <xs:complexType name="Demo">
              <xs:sequence>
                   <xs:sequence maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="1">
                        <xs:element name="test1" type="xs:string"/>
                        <xs:element name="test2" type="xs:string"/>
                   </xs:sequence>
                   <xs:sequence maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0">
                        <xs:element name="test3" type="xs:string"/>
                        <xs:element name="test4" type="xs:string"/>
                   </xs:sequence>
              </xs:sequence>
         </xs:complexType>
         <xs:element name="root" type="Demo"/>
    </xs:schema>What you expect will work for the first sequence of elements (test1 and test2) but anyway minOccurs and maxOccurs for elements default to 1, so why bother wrapping them in a sequence?
    If I understand what you want correctly, it won't work for the second sequence.
    For instance, this will be valid :
    <root>
      <test1/>
      <test2/>
      <test3/>
      <test4/>
    </root>but this will not :
    <root>
      <test1/>
      <test2/>
      <test3/>
    </root>

  • Can a session EJB be accessed by more than one client?

    Hello,
    I would like to have an instance of a persistent EJB which is accessible by more than one client and which will not be destroyed after usage. Apparently session beans can only be accessed by one client and are created every time they are accessed. In my case this creation is quite time and resource consuming. Is it an alternative to use an entity bean instead, even if the logic of the bean doesn't have anything to do with direct database access?
    Thanks.

    It seems to me that what you want is exactly a session bean will do. The EJB container is responsible to maintain a certain number instances (configurable) of your session bean and serve multiple clients at the same time. Session beans are not necessarily destroyed after serving a client. If you configure your ejb server to have a pool size of 2 to 100, then you will always have at least 2 instances (no more than 100 even there are a lot of client access) of this ejb ready to serve. The only thing not clear to me is that do you want to use only ONE instance of this bean or you don't care as long as multiple clients can access this bean's service? Since you mentioned that there is not a real database access, you can certainly use a Singleton but a 'regular' session bean with static fields should do it also if these fields will not be modified by clients.

  • More information about the ejb-ref element of ejb-jar.xml

    Hello,
    I am currently studying ejbs and I came across the ejb-ref element of the ejb-jar.xml file. I am in reference to O'Reilly Entreprise JavaBeans book. The book says that, thanks to the ejb-ref element it is possible to access one ejb from another ejb with the following client code:
    InitialContext jndiContext = new InitialContext();
    Object ref = jndiContext.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/ProcessPaymentHomeRemote");
    ProcessPaymentHomeRemote home = (ProcessPaymentHomeRemote) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ref, ProcessPaymentHomeRemote.class);I thought one could invoke the above client code without the ejb-ref element being present in the ejb-jar.xml... I am right or wrong?
    Then why the need for the ejb-ref element? Can anyone give me a concrete example of usage of the ejb-ref element where the ejb-ref element really is useful? What are the advantages of using the ejb-ref element?
    Thanks in advance,
    Julien Martin.

    Hi Julien,
    The main reason is portability. It's true that in many J2EE implementations it is possible to access an EJB's Home object without going through the component context (java:comp/env), but all such approaches are NOT portable. In the J2EE programming model, all resource access is made via the private component namespace. Using this level of indirection allows the bean developer to code the application without having to know which physical resource will be used at runtime. Each J2EE implementation can use a different scheme to identity physical resources, so by sticking to logical references in your code, you guarantee portability. Finally, you have the advantage that you can change which physical resource is mapped at deployment time without having to change your code.
    So, the bottom line is, whenever you have any J2EE component (ejb, servlet, jsp, Application Client) that looks up an ejb, data source, queue, connection factory, etc., always use the environment reference type that J2EE defines for it and look it up via java:comp/env.

    @MessageDriven(description = "An MDB that transfers messages from one Queue to another", activationConfig = { @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "destinationType", propertyValue = "javax.jms.Queue") })
    @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)
    public class TransferMdb implements MessageListener {
    private static final Logger LOG = Logger.getLogger(TransferMdb.class);
    @Resource(name = "jms/connfactory")
    private ConnectionFactory connectionFactory;
    @Resource(name = "jms/targetDestination")
    private Queue targetDestination;

    I am clearly missing items in the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml. If anyone has a sample or tips, that would be awesome as a starting point.

    Those tags just declare that you are using our CMP provider and that
    your descriptor is in META-INF/weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml.
    FWIW, you might also want to check out EJBGen. It tends to keep more up
    to date with WLS than xdoclet.

    Thnx for your help.
    Best regards.

    Hello Decio Junior,
    Actually yes, I resolved my problem.
    I'm developing an EJB 3.0 project. I'm using NWDS 7.2 and JDK 1.6 as I said.
    The problem is that my server was using JDK 1.4 and that was the problem.
    EJB 1.1 and 2.1 need ejb-jar.xml but EJB 3.0 use the annotations instead.
    Check your server JDK Version. It should be JDK 1.5 or higher.
    Something else that you should check, in your project properties :
    In the Build PATH : Use JDK 1.5
    In the Java Compiler : Set the java compiler compliance level to 1.6 and check use default compliance settings
    Hope it would help.
    If you need more explanations, I'm here
    Good luck.

    I am running Weblogic 8.1 SP3 on Windows XP Pro.
    The XML is valid for the specified DTD according to my XML editor.
    The relevevant fragment from weblogic-ejb-jar.xml is included below.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Gavin.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE weblogic-ejb-jar PUBLIC "-//BEA Systems, Inc.//DTD WebLogic 8.1.0 EJB//EN" "http://www.bea.com/servers/wls810/dtd/weblogic-ejb-jar.dtd">
    <weblogic-ejb-jar>
    <security-role-assignment>
    <role-name>MarsAdmin</role-name>
    <externally-defined/>
    </security-role-assignment>
    <security-role-assignment>
    <role-name>MarsViewer</role-name>
    <externally-defined/>
    </security-role-assignment>
    </weblogic-ejb-jar>

    I tried using the <global-role/> tag instead - this does deploy without any errors - but when I call the secure EJB method I get the Security Violation error below.
    The DTD says using the <global-role/> tag is fine, albeit deprecated, but the Weblogic 8.1 manual says this has been replaced by <externally-defined/>, so I'm not sure if this should work or not.
    [EJB:010160]Security Violation: User: 'ghughes' has insufficient permission to access EJB: type=<ejb>, application=_appsdir_mars-marketdata_ear, module=ejb-marketdata.jar, ejb=marketdata.MarketDataManager, method=getEnergyOverview, methodInterface=Remote, signature={java.util.Date}.
    So on the whole I'd prefer to work out why Weblogic isn't recognising <externally-defined/> - I've included the full deployment descriptor below - I'm generating it using the latest snapshot of XDoclet - is the DTD specified correct for Weblogic 8.1 SP3 ? (It matches the one specified in http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/ejb/DDreference-ejb-jar.html - but I can't think of anything else that could be wrong).
    Any tips much appreciated as I need to enable an administrator to customise these roles at runtime rather than hard-coding the role - group mappings into the deployment descriptors.
    Thanks,
    Gavin.

  • Ejb-jar.xml and orion-ejb-jar.xml configuration issue

    Chris,
    We have an application that uses the Oracle 10g Application Server and WebSphere MQ v5.3 w/ fixpack 9.
    Our application is a J2EE messaging system which essentially consists of Message Driven Beans, the EJB
    realization of the J2EE Java Message Service (JMS) API. Our application has Message Driven Beans which
    listen to queues and send messages to queues -- a simple messaging system. Currently we can listen to queues, but
    cannot send messages to queues in the Oracle 10g Application Server environment.
    Any J2EE application server has its own implementation of Java Naming Directory Interface (JNDI) API that
    deployed J2EE applications utilize to lookup resources such as Data Sources, JMS Destinations (i.e. MQ Queue),
    JMS QueueConnectionFactories (i.e. MQ QManagers).
    Our application uses the 3rd party JMS Provider, WebSphere MQ.
    MQ ships with a JMSAdmin tool which allows one to create JMS administered objects (i.e. objects a java
    application searches for in some JNDI directory) that reside in some JNDI context. We create a JNDI context for
    MQ resources, queues and QManagers. We configure the MQ provided
    JMSAdmin tool with two property name/value pairs:
    PROVIDER_URL=file:/opt/mqm/JNDI-Directory
    INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY=com.sun.jndi.fscontext.RefFSContextFactory
    A resultant .bindings file is created in /opt/mqm/JNDI-Directory which represents our JDNI context
    containing our JMS administered objects. A standalone java application that needs to directly access this
    JNDI context can simply conduct a JNDI lookup on the following context: "java:comp/resource/MQSeries/". An
    example of how a standalone application would lookup a JMS administered object named "qNumber1" would be to
    lookup "java:comp/resource/MQSeries/qNumber1". This lookup would result in the standalone java application
    having a JMS reference to an MQ Queue.
    There is a major difference in how an enterprise EJB application deployed into a J2EE Container (Oracle 10g App Server)
    conducts a JNDI lookup on a 3rd party resource such as MQ as a JMS Provider. A typical EJB application deployed
    into a J2EE container as an .ear (enterprise archive) file has implicit access to the application server's own
    JNDI context. This JNDI context is usually "java:comp/env/". Looking up the Application Server's own Data Source or
    it's own JMS Resources is easy. An application that needs references to these Application Server provided resources
    simply conducts a lookup for "java:comp/env/jms/someQ" or "java:comp/env/jdbc/myDataSource".
    The problem we face is mapping our MQ JNDI context to the Oracle App Server's own JNDI context. We believe this is
    accomplished through mappings defined in both the ejb-jar.xml (EJB Descriptor) and the application server specific
    counterpart, orion-ejb-jar.xml. Note that Oracle 10g Application Server uses the popular orion J2EE container for
    hosting J2EE enterpise applications.
    Our Message Driven Beans (MDBs)currently listen to the Queue at the JNDI location "prodQ". Our problem is that we cannot
    get our MDB to send messages to any queues. Note that the MQ implementation of the queues and Queue Managers work
    flawlessly with standalone java applications. It's safe to say that the MQ objects are working.
    We are looking for a solid example of how the ejb-jar.xml and the orion-ejb-jar.xml map 3rd party JMS provider
    JNDI locations to the App Server's JNDI context.
    Below is how we have attempted to configure our own ejb-jar.xml and orion-ejb-jar.xml:

    but in this case you need a deployment plan to point weblogic to the file. The ejb-jar.xml cannot be
    external (see external=false)
    The benefit of storing the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml is that your administrator can fine tune certain
    configurations by using a deployment plan, instead of having to extract the contents from the jar file
    and then repackage it again.
    No need to worry about a clustered environment, you can place the jar and the deployment plan
    on the server where the admin server is located, when you deploy an application you deploy it to
    the cluster and everything is taken care off.
    More information on deployment plans can be found here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11035_01/wls100/deployment/config.html

    To improve performance of my EJB's, I wish to set trans-attribute as "Supports"
    for all my get methods and rest of the methods as "Required".
    Heres the snippet from my ejb-jar.xml which I'm using to achieve the same:
    ======== start ejb-jar.xml =========
    <container-transaction>
    <method>
    <ejb-name>com.test.beans.TestBean</ejb-name>
    <method-name>get*</method-name>
    </method>
    <trans-attribute>Supports</trans-attribute>
    </container-transaction>
    <container-transaction>
    <method>
    <ejb-name>com.test.beans.TestBean</ejb-name>
    <method-name>*</method-name>
    </method>
    <trans-attribute>Required</trans-attribute>
    </container-transaction>
    ======== end ejb-jar.xml ===========
    My doubt is:
    - Is this the right way to achieve the same?
    - Is there any possibility that 1st container would set the trans-attribute for
    all methods start with get to "Supports" and then set the trans-attribute as "Required"
    for all method[since I've used * afterwards], i.e overwrite the changes for get*
    methods?
    - Or Should I do it other way around? i.e 1st set trans-aatribute of all methods[*]
    and then overwrite for get* methods?
    Comments plz !!!
    Thanx

    order you want. Note that the "get*" is more specific than the "*" for the
    method-name element.
    Also with supports, if this bean is invoked in a transaction then the
    caller's transaction will whatever settings it has would take precedence.
