Mouse over buttons makes submenu

I'm new to Dreamweaver and I am using a Mac as well.
I was wondering how to make my menus on my webpage have submenus
attached to it as the mouse goes over the menu name. My menus are
just simple words I've typed in. I would rather not make a whole
new page for every menu click if possible. Thanks.

  • Mouse over button actions for newbie

    Im a Newbie.  Im creating buttons that when you mouse over show an image. Id like the images to remain up when the cursor leaves the button until the cursor mouses over another button, see http://www.rawnarch.com/featured_williams_college.html
    any advice on how to do this simply

    The simplest fix is to change the DOCTYPE.
    You're using a XHTML Transitional DOCTYPE.
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

  • Use DW for mouse over button images but won't validate

    Hi All,
    I've done this three times and give up.  Here's the link http://pooledesignstudio.com/wendysawesomeart/
    I used the Rollover Image icon on the common tool bar and created my nav bar.
    When I try to validate I get 24 errors and they are in the code that DW generates to make the rollover switchout happen. I have no idea how to fix it.
    Please help.

  • Specific region mouse over effect(Button 1 fades out and Button 2 fades in).

    Dear All -
    I am new to Flash CS5 and building Flash navigation bar with buttons on it.
    Below is my problem description that I want to solve with your help.
    I have a rectangular bar and placed one small button(Button 1) on this bar. Also, I have similar button(Button 2) with some graphics on it which is of similar size as to previous Button 1.
    Button 1 - Without graphic.
    Button 2 - With graphic on it.
    What I want is that, whenever mouse is taken over Button 1 placed on the rectangular bar, it should fade out and simultaneously Button 2 should fade in. I want only button region to be sensitive to this mouse over effect and not the complete rectangular bar.
    Kindly let me know how can I define the specific region(button region only) to be sensitive to mouse over effect in flash, and how to place Button 1 and Button 2 in layers so that both are at the same positition(so that there is no displacement of button detected).
    Thank You,
    Saurabh Khanna.

    Hello -
    Thank you for the reply. Button 1 does not have glowing effect, whereas Button 2 has a glowing effect. So what I wanted is that when initially Button 1 is loaded during page load, when I mouse over Button 1, Button 1 would fade out and Button 2 sitting behind Button 1 would automatically look like fade in(due to gradual fad out of Button 1 on top of Button 2).
    I could do this now, and would like to Thank you for your reply.
    I did this by creating movie clip on "Over" event of Button 1 and changing its Alpha property. But now what I want is how to gradually fade out, means when I remove my mouse from over button, then Button 2 should fade out gradually which will automatically make Button 1 fade in gradually.
    I could not find the "Out" event just like we have "Over" event for Button, so I assume this can only be done using ActionScript somehow.
    Let me know if I am going correct with my assumption, and possibly if you could help me achieve the remaining half(fading out gradually when mouse is removed from the button).
    Thank You once again for your reply.
    Thank You,
    Saurabh Khanna.

  • Mouse-over pic A to make pop up pic B ...

    Hi there!
    Could need a quick solution for this, cause my (too) limited HTML knowledge doesn't help a bit ...
    I have a permanent picture A which, while mouse-over, should make picture B pop up.
    A mouse-over at picture B area (which is again invisible then) should make picture C pop up, which is on the same location as picture B.
    A mouse-down on that poped up picture C finally should perform a switch to another html page ...
    See this image for better understanding: www.manscha.de/TRANSFER/screen.JPG
    How can I manage this with Dreamweaver???
    Thanks a lot —
    Klaus

  • Losing Mouse "hand" over buttons when publish for Web.

    Hi,
    I'm new to Flash. I'm publishing a web-site and I lose the "Hand" icon for the mouse over buttons after I publish and run the HTML=>Swf files from the Browser. When I "Test the movie" from flash I see the "Hand" over buttons just fine.
    Is there a publish setting that I'm missing which allows the hand to remain?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi, Had to work yesterday.
    At the moment I'm running/testing locally  (which may be the problem) from a flash secure directory on my desktop. So no link sorry.
    I think I need to look into setting up a test service with Yahoo or something. Any suggestions? I'm not really sure how to upload my completed website (.html and .swf files) to a service. That's a different topic/question. Any help along those lines is greatly appreciated.
    Anyway, I'm using safari 5.1.7 on my IMac. and Safari 6.0.3 on my Mac Pro. and Firefox 21.0 (primarily) or Internel Explorer (rarely) on my "windows" laptop.    The "Hand" works on all of these (files local to the respective computer) except the IMAC Safari 5.1.7 flash player 12.0 combination, which was my first test environment scenerio.
    I'm planning to do two things.
    1) Update my IMAC to Safari 6.0.
    2) Set up a test area with a service provider. This in itself may resolve the issue for the Safari 5.1.7. At least I'll be testing in a "real world" environment.
    So, thank you for your help with this. I think we can call it solved. If my testing on a true server shows the same results then I may shoot out another question. I think it is a nice goal to have our web site creations run on all platforms and browser comibations but is that realistic? If we test on as many combinations of the most recent software releases as we can with reasonable success what more can we do? I'd like to hear you opinion. Feel free to sent me an email.
    Would you like me to open a new question/discussion regarding the help finding and uploading files to a service provider?
    Thanks again,
    Jeff

  • How to make movieclip controlled by button fade in/out on mouse over/out?

    Hi,
    I am new to Flash, and have tried searching numerous forums to the answer to this question, but nothing I try seems to work. Basically I am trying to create a single "Image" that triggers different animations when you mouse over different invisible buttons located on specific areas. The technique I am using is basically spacing out the animations over different frames, and using the gotoAndPlay command specifying the where the relevant animation is located.
    Here is the code from my actions layer with two animations:
    stop(); /*This ensures no animations are playing on the first frame*/
    /*Mouse over event for redbutton1*/
    redbutton1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, fl_MouseOverToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_2);
    function fl_MouseOverToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_2(event:MouseEvent):void
         gotoAndPlay(2); /*This is the frame where the animaton triggered by redbutton1 is located*/
    /* Mouse Out Event for redbutton1*/
    redbutton1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, fl_MouseOutHandler_3);
    function fl_MouseOutHandler_3(event:MouseEvent):void
         gotoAndPlay(1) /*takes animation back to the start of timeline where it stops*/
    /*Mouse over event for bluebutton1*/
    bluebutton1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, fl_MouseOverToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_2);
    function fl_MouseOverToGoToAndPlayFromFrame_2(event:MouseEvent):void
         gotoAndPlay(30); /*This is the frame where the animaton triggered by bluebutton1 is located*/
    /* Mouse Out Event for bluebutton1*/
    bluebutton1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, fl_MouseOutHandler_3);
    function fl_MouseOutHandler_3(event:MouseEvent):void
         gotoAndPlay(1) /*takes animation back to the start of timeline where it stops*/
    Now basically all I need is some code that means that instead of abruptly starting and stopping the animation, the animation will fade in/out whenever the mouseover/out events are triggered. Note: the animation doesn't have to finish, it basically only plays while the mouse is over.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    It will help oif you show the code for the code-based tweening.  The basics of getting it working with the MOUSE_OVER/OUR commands is fairly straightforward.
    You have listeners for both events, and the handlers for each listener is where you activate the tweens.  For more seamless functionality it is usually a good idea to have the starting point of the tween be the point where the object currently is (its x or y (or both) propertiy) instead of a fixed value.

  • If I have a box with a title strip at the bottom, how do I make the strip pop up on mouse over

    So I am building a website for my company and Ive hit a brick wall on something that I know I could make work correct but I dont have the time and dont want to contiue to waste time experimenting. I have been using adobe flash and I know how to use it but not on this level I guess, I have got it to work in some cases but seems like it would be the worst to edit if needed.
    Im trying to make a box (button) that has a visible title strip at the bottom of it. When you mouse over the title slides up and it shows information, which you can click to go to a link or mouse out and it will go back down. Ive been trying everything and something always seems to not go just right. I need it to be fluid, for I will be doing it to 6 boxes in a row on the landing page of the site. Please let me know if anyone knows what Im talking about or can help in any way possible! There is an example on the sony site near the bottom with 4 boxes.   http://www.sony.com/index.php
    Also, If anyone were to know the answer to the Q above, What would be the best template to start in for this?
    Thanks, T

    Consider something like a JavaScript library for your tabs. You can do it yourself with standard jQuery effects easily (http://learn.jquery.com/effects/intro-to-effects/) or even use something premade as a wrapper if you really choose like jQuery UI (http://jqueryui.com/toggle/). Simple things like revealing content via a tab should be done in a modern way.
    The content of the tabs can be SWFs if you really have some serious animations/etc they can exist inside there.

    To make sure that all required media is in the library contain the project you need to "Consolidate media"  see:  http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#mov882dee351
    You can then copy the library to your laptop with the Finder and open it with the same version of iMovie.  The last phrase is important since Apple has made changes in the project format several times even between minor updates of iMovie 10.  Earlier versions may not be able to read the library and later versions (not possible in this case) may cause the project to be updated so that it is no longer readable by the desktop version.   iMovie on the laptop will not at first find the copied library - you will have either to double click on it or File - Open library - Other and navigate to its location.

  • How to make yellow dialog box not come up when I mouse over tabs?

    I hate the little small yellow background colored dialog box that pops up when you mouse over tabs on Firefox on Mac.
    The reason why this is an in convenience on the Firefox in Mac is when a dialog box comes up and you minimize Firefox the dialog box stays there on the screen, so you have to bring Firefox to the front and then mouse over it til the box go's away, and then finally you can minimize Firefox without having the dialog box stay on your screen.
    To negate this problem I want to know if their is a way for me to disable that dialog box from coming up at all. It also comes up when I mouse over my all in one sidebar add on and I have noticed it when you mouseover links on certain sites, like in Pandora when I am mousing over the different artists in my list the little box comes up, again it's not needed and very annoying.

    you must modify '''browser.chrome.toolbar_tips'''
    type in the address bar '''about:config'''
    then press the button''' i'll be careful i promise'''
    then type in the bar '''browser.chrome.toolbar_tips'''
    then '''Double-click''' on it, to make it''' false'''
    exit firefox and restart-it.

  • Problem w Plug-in Check page: the "Update" button for my outdated version of the WMP plugin does not do anything, and no link is indicated in the status bar when I mouse over the button.

    In Firefox, I select Tools > Add-ons > Find Updates. The Plugin Check page comes up in the browser. The entry for the WMP Plugin indicates it is out of date. I click on the "Update" button and nothing happens. When I mouse over the button, no link is indicated in the status bar (it continues to read "Done").

  • How to make text STAY up after removing mouse from button?

    Hello!
    I honestly hope that this thread title makes sense. Allow me to explain my predicament.
    Someone has created a map where there are little colored buttons over building locations. The buttons were made so that when you hover your cursor over them, they will bring up a little chat bubble (like the ones you see in comics) with the appropriate street address text. What I cannot figure out is how to, after removing the cursor from over a button, make the text bubble stay put so that those who see the map can highlight then copy and paste the street address from it.
    Is there any advice?

    It kinda depends on what version of actionscript you're using, but one that may work for AS2 and AS3 is to use setTimeout to call a function that does what your rollout code currently does... meaning in your rollout function you use: setTimeout(callFunction, x-seconds)... where callFunction is a function that contains what your rollout function did originally.
