MOVE_CAST_ERROR caused by locale setting
Good day all,
we are getting dump error for our application for a very limited number of users , the error is MOVE_CAST_ERROR, Exception CX_SY_MOVE_CAST_ERROR, I spent some time to try to find out the cause of these dumps but with no luck , I then found out that these dumps occur only for the users who have thier locale settings in the Windows with other than English as a language , it was giving the error when we choose Arabic ,
any Idea how to correct this
here is some of the error log

still I don't think the portal installation or EHP is causing this , because it will affect the application on both cases , if arabic is set or if it isnot.
currently it is working fine if it is not set to arabic while it is missed up when it is Arabic , I think maybe the theme that the portal is looking up for in both case is different and the one which is being displayed one it is set to arabic is not the same / configure like the normal one ,
I need to check with out protal admin , and may be install http analyzer to check the retraived css file to confirm this ,,,
will let you know

Change Airport Extreme locale setting (USA vs. Worldwide)
Hi all,
I am very confused about the locale setting of the Airport Extreme card, which is shown in the system profiler:
AirPort Card:
AirPort Card Information:
Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme
Wireless Card Locale: USA
Wireless Card Firmware Version: 404.2 (3.90.34.0.p16)
I know that there are restrictions for the allowed frequency bands (channels) in different countries:
• Channels 1–11 approved for use in in USA, Canada
• Channels 1–14 approved for use in Japan
• Channels 1–13 approved for use in other countries
I live in Germany and want to use channel 13 for various reasons.
Now I bought a extreme card on ebay which is (as I was told afterwards) imported from USA.
Someone told me, that this cards cannot handle the channels 12 and 13.
Is this true? Or does it depend on the my PowerBook, which was bought in Germany or even on the language setting, which is - of cause - german.
I also read somewhere that it can be changed by loading a different firmware, which you could only do with a - let's say - not apple approved software tool (which I don't have anyway).
By now I have read so many different opinions and suggestions, that I don't know left from right anymore.
Can someone please tell me some real facts, please.
Thanks.
PowerBook G4 12-inch Mac OS X (10.4.8) Airport ExtremeFilterPunk, Welcome to the discussion area!
I have spent years helping in this discussion area and have never seen any information on the possibility of changing a US card to a European card.
It may be possible but I have never seen information on it nor anyone reporting that they had done it. -
OBIEE 11G Installation error during configuration steps with message "Distributing Repository" failed.
I searched lot of forums but all they say, install bos.loc.utf.EN_US Package for the Oracle BI locale setting english-usa language. From where we can download this package.
Thanks in advance.But I am assuming that when I make the installer, the 32-bit Run Time Engine is appened with the installer, as show below
Since from the picture you can see its including the support installers from '\Program Files (x86)\'
The application runs queries to fetch data from database in SQL server 2008, and for that I am using a Microsoft SQL Native Client 2008 R2 64 bit ( this is the only version that installs on either PC, even the one on which I developed my LV Application).
I am not using any driver, only toolkits for reports - and for that I un-checked the "Remove unused polymorphic VI instances" when making the executable, otherwise LV throws up an exception that share variable are not being included.
Yes I did reboot every time after I ran the installation.
Still getting the same error. -
DateFormat is not sensitive to Windows locale setting
Hi all,
The DateFormat is not sensitive to Windows locale setting, that's why this piece doesn't work correclty.
This bugs is already know (#4514389)
SimpleDateFormat dateFormat;
dateFormat=((SimpleDateFormat)DateFormat.getDateInstance(DateFormat.SHORT));
Anybody knows a workaround ?
Many thanksHi,
In fact this workaround is uncorrect because I try to get the date pattern define in the operating system.
Usually this operating system used is NT4 or Windows 2000.
When you execute the previous sample code the result is always the same with different date pattern define in the Operating System.
This bug is very tricky, I can't say if this bug is really a Java bug or a Windows bug ...
Many thanks for your help

How to ignore browser 's local setting ?
I use ADF to implement JSP Application ?
I am in Thailand .
Thai year = english year + 543 .
ADF display date according to locale that is set in browser .
I want to ignore locale setting in browser and always use Locale.ENGLISH
What should I do ?
and another question ?
if I customize ADF to display in THAI year by customize setter and getter method in EntityImpl . Can I know what is locale that is set in client 's browser in those setter and getter method , because ADF dose not pass request object to EntityImpl ?
thanks in advanceYou can change ADF Model tier in the application Module :
getSession().setLocale(Locale.ENGLISH);
The default value of the locale is the JVM Locale
Don't code view problematic in EntityImpl. Entity are only for binding ViewObject attributes and persistence tier. you can code it in viewRow classes (you can generate it checking ¨the check box in the java menu editing the viewObject.

Cannot find USA Local Setting in SBO 2007 release B
I tried to install SBO 2007 release B in my dummy computer today. However, I cannot find USA Local Setting when creating new company.
The only available countries are: Brazil, India, Japan, Korea, P.R. China, and Singapore. So the Chart of Account will follow these countries.
Did I miss something here?
See below for screenshot:

2007 B is for Asia and Brazil. You will need 2007A to get USA local settings

How to find out the locale setting in a browser?
In my Java web project, the multi-lingual issue on the JSP pages is handled by JSTL. It works fine so far for any input messages. However, some messages come from the container. It is needed to find out the browser's country and language settings inside of the container. My question is how to find out the settings?
Thanks in advance.
v.Hi, this I found on James' website--see http://www.rf.net/~james/perli18n.html#Q28
Q28. Can web servers automatically detect the language of the browser and display the correct localized page?
A28. Yes. HTTP/1.1 defines the details of how content negotiation works, including language content.
WWW browsers send an Accept-Language request header specifying which languages are preferred for responses. This technique works fairly well, although some versions of Netscape Navigator send an improperly formatted request parameter. Also, switching language preferences in either Navigator or IE 4 doesn't always "take" without first deleting a language hint.
Few sites do content-negotiation on language, and interestingly enough I do not know of any major portals doing this. One site that does is Sun's documentation library at SunDocs. Debian.org does a very nice job of using Apache content negotiation wih languages and also has some nice help info too on Setting the Default Language.
Apache's Content Negotiation features will select the right page to return, whether HTML or image file. Annoyingly, the match logic is very literal, so a browser request for en-us will not match a server entry of en except as a last resort. Any other exact match will win over en, even if en-us was first preference.
There are 2 ways of doing content negotiation with Apache: type or variant maps and multiviews.
Variant Maps
In httpd.conf, disable Options Multiviews if configured and add
AddType type-var var
DirectoryIndex index.var
Then create an index.var file like this:
URI: start; vary="type,language"
URI: index.html.en
Content-type: text/html
Content-language: en-GB
URI: index.html.en
Content-type: text/html
Content-language: en-US
URI: index.html.en
Content-type: text/html
Content-language: en
URI: index.html.fr
Content-type: text/html
Content-language: fr-CA
URI: index.html.fr
Content-type: text/html
Content-language: fr
URI: index.html.es
Content-type: text/html
Content-language: es
Multiviews
The multiviews technique works like this. This does add extra server load, as each content directory must be scanned for the variant document names.
index.html is localized into variant documents such as:
index.html.en (or index.en.html)
index.html.fr
index.html.es
index.html (or index.html.html as a reader has recommended) symlinked to one of the above as the last resort.
Here's an example of http.conf directives for this:
# in httpd.conf
AddLanguage en .en
AddLanguage fr .fr
AddLanguage es .es
# LanguagePriority allows you to give precedence to some languages
# in case of a tie during content negotiation.
# Just list the languages in decreasing order of preference.
LanguagePriority en es fr de pt
Options Multiviews
# end of httpd.conf fragment
Starting in Apache 1.2, you may also create documents with multiple language extensions.

Java class write file in Linux related to locale setting?
Hi all,
I have encoding problem, I need to write database data with UTF-8 into file in Linux, the data included Chinese characters and English, and send file to other machines.
My question is does it affect the UTF-8 data if the Linux machine does not have character set for Chinese encoding and just use OutputStreamWriter to send the file to other machines?
The Linux locale is "C"
In other machines, I only read the Chinese character using putty.
Can any one tell me how to solve it?My question is does it affect the UTF-8 data if the Linux machine does
not have character set for Chinese encoding and just use
OutputStreamWriter to send the file to other machines?Until data is displayed to the screen by the Linux computer, it does not matter whether it can display Chinese characters.
Additionally, the mixed Chinese-English data sounds like a potential encoding problem - unless you have an encoding that matches the data. -

Locale setting on a scheduled object
Hi,
I'm looking for how to force locale settings on a scheduled object.
The situation is the report I'm using uses 'Data Date' and it retrieves the system default values.
I'm using the following and I can set locale on the session and 'Data Date' retrieves value based on the locale info and everything is fine. If I schedule the object the 'Data Date' value retrieved is english and not the value based on the locale value.
URL boConURL = new URL("http://boserver:port/dswsbobje/services/session");
com.businessobjects.dsws.Connection boConnection = new Connection(boConURL);
EnterpriseCredential boCredential = new EnterpriseCredential();
boCredential.setLogin("User");
boCredential.setPassword("password");
boCredential.setLocale("Locale");
Session boSession = new Session(boConnection);
Thanks,If I schedule the object the 'Data Date' value retrieved is english and not the value based on the locale value.
Since the issue you are having occurs when scheduling, one possibility is that the Job Server is not picking up the difference in the locale. This of course is just a theory since it could be due to other factors as well, however you may be able to eliminate the Job Server as the problem if you try to schedule the report in InfoView and see if you get the same behavior; if you do get the same behavior, then the Job Server is not using the correct locale, if you do NOT get the same behavior, the problem will be something different.
When you do get the correct locale, are you viewing the report in the report viewer? -
LOCALE setting in rc.conf is ignored
Hi, I've found some threads here where the problem is described that Nautilus and ls (that use the locale settings) sort files case sensitive but the solutions I found seem to be out dated: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=34699

I've found the LOCALE variable in /etc/rc.conf should exactly match the spelling that is included in locale.gen. Otherwise, strange problems may occur.
I'm away from my Arch box, but I think locale.gen's spelling is "de_DE.UTF-8". Somebody please check this. If I'm correct, the line in rc.conf should be:
LOCALE="de_DE.UTF-8"
That didn't change anything. The same applys to LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 in /etc/locale.conf
I now have
export LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
in my .bashrc and this works. Still wondering about the ignored setting.

whenever i tab out from a full screen then the display setting will auto change with a blue flash screen.
Your issue could be caused by many things however I'm pretty certain it has nothing to do with OS X being faulty. OS X is not like Windows that requires a re-install whenever issues present themselves. You need to be methodical in checking where your issue lies. There are numerous articles available that go over causes, I'd suggest looking through the X-Lab article listed below and then methodically going through each step until you discover the cause.

If you still can't find it then you should work with an AASP to locate where your issue lies. -
Locale setting for spanish not working in flex plugin
I am using the following flex compiler setting in Flex builder 3 and it works fine to support Spanish Locale.
-locale=en_US,es_US
But the same setting is not working in eclipse installed with flex4 plugin running on flex 3.5 SDK. I am unable to build project with this setting. If i remove es)US then it works fine.
Here is my whole compiler setting
-locale=en_US,es_US -allow-source-path-overlap=true -source-path=locale/{locale}you might have to restart eclipse but you shouldn't have too.
I'd check that Eclipse is actually looking at the sdk you think it is (Eclispe might be pointing to a different sdk than FlashBuilder 3)
otherwise I am out of ideas
do you have the error message? -
Konfusion with locale setting in uttsc
in the man page of uttsc it says
-l locale
Specify the locale to be used for the Windows session.
If this option is not specified, the LC_ALL or the LANG
environment variable values are used. If these are not
set, then "en-US" is the default locale. Any valid
Windows locale can be specified in the standard format,
eg: German is de-DE, Swiss French is fr-CH etc.
so I use here in AT
uttsc -l de-DE ...
but UNIX has no idea about that locale, if I say
locale -a | grep de-DE ... I get nothing, if I say
locale -a | grep de_DE
root@srss02 <> : / > locale -a | grep de-DE
root@srss02 <> : / > locale -a | grep de_DE
de_DE
de_DE.ISO8859-1
de_DE.ISO8859-15
de_DE.ISO8859-15@euro
de_DE.UTF-8
de_DE.UTF-8@euro
Can somebody explain ?
I have now some weird setting for kiosk like
KIOSK_SESSION=uttsc
KIOSK_SESSION_TIMEOUT_DETACHED=12000
KIOSK_SESSION_LOCALE=de_DE
KIOSK_SESSION_ARGS=-l de-DE -m -r printer:laserjet="HP LaserJet 2000" -r scard:on wts
KIOSK_ENABLED=yes
which works, but I don't know exactly, how it would be correct for getting German Keyboard & Settings.Really, no one else has seen this? It is specific to my Mac (does not happen when I log in to these servers via other OSes, including Linux and Windows), and it began only around the time I'd upgraded to 10.5.7.
