Move used variables/strings

Dear all,
I try to use Dasylab to control and collect data from several equipments at lab (thermostat, stirrer, syringe pump, manostat, thermometer...). Now I have prepared several worksheets (each for single equipment) and it +- works (it is necessary to complete with some functionality but for collecting current lab data it is sufficient). The worksheets works, but only for single equipment, but I need to work with all of them. So I rebuild the worksheets that the each equipment is packed at black boxes (each worksheet one black box ant it works). Then I save all of black boxes and put them to one worksheet. Unfortunately, the worksheet prepared this way doesn’t work because there are problems with global string and variables. When I save the black box, I don't save the string/variables definitions. For instance the expression of one string in original worksheet is calculated automatically this way: "R" + SubStr( "000",1, 3-(${VAR_51}>=1000)-(${VAR_51}>=100)-(${VAR_51}>10)) + StrFmt(${VAR_51},8,0)+${STR_52} to prepare output string "R0120\r". I am able to export and import global string and variables but only as whole package of 999 variables. I don’t know how to move only used ones (I am able to move them at TXT format, but I am not able to read them to Dasilab as variables).
I have two questions:
1 - Is there any possibility to set "calculate expression automatically" for string/variable during running of program (using some action module or something like that)?
2 - Is there any possibility to save only used strings/variables and collected several packages of variables to one (for instance VAR_1-VAR_50 for thermostat and VAR_100-VAR_150 for thermometer)?

I found that if I used the Define Global Variable dialog, and clicked the Save button, it gave me a choice of saving defined variables (those whose settings are not the default) or variable with descriptions.
I saved the file. It gave me a file that included all of the information.
I tried to use the Global Variables and Strings Import dialog, but the file was not ordered correctly.
I opened it in Excel and changed the columns around to match the Help (see picture). Then, I saved it as a TXT file again.
It imported with some errors - notably the additional settings, such as read at start, do not import. The one formula that I created imported correctly.
I think that you can save the used variables from your various worksheets, combine them into one file, change the order of the columns. Since it's a text file, you can change the variable numbers if you need to...
Unfortunately, you cannot import strings this way, as the Help says "DASYLab can only read in strings from VAR formats."  Personally, I agree that this is a major limitation!

  • Use a String to get data from a variable?

    Hi, I've got a major problem, I need to get data (int []) from a variable, using a String with the name of the variable..
    Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Please help me!

  • Using a string to reference a variable

    hi all,
    i've encountered an interesting scenario where i need to use a string to reeference the value of a variable...the following would show the scenario in a simpler way...
    let's say we have such function called foo:
    void foo(String aString)
    int a = 20;
    int b = 20;
    system.out.println(?????);
    now let's say i run the function as:
    foo("a")
    and i want it to return:
    20
    what should be put to replace those "?????" in my function above?
    please note that variables "a" and "b" are arbitary and so having a conditional statement like the following would NOT be useful:
    void foo(String aString)
    int a = 20;
    int b = 20;
    if (aString.equals("a"))
    system.out.println(a);
    if (aString.equals("b"))
    system.out.println(b);
    thank you very much!

    There are two possibilities here.
    The preferable one, if you have control over the names and nature of the variables, then don't use individual variables - use a Hashtable (or any implementation of Map). Your code would then look something like:void foo(String aString)
        Map table = new Hashtable();
        table.put("a", new Integer(20));
        table.put("b", new Integer(30));
        system.out.println(table.get(aString));
    }The down side to this is that you have to use Integers - Maps can't take primitives.
    If, on the other hand, you have to have variables, then take a look at using reflection. It's more complicated than using Maps, and less efficient, so I would recommend the first technique if possible.

  • Using SKPTSMTPMessage how to send a variable String?

    I am using SKPTSMTPMessage to send an email in the background but I need to send a variable string. I have tried putting a %@ in the text but it just sends the %@ and not a variable. Please Help?

    Did you ever figure out how to do this?  Because actually I'm trying to do pretty much exactly the same thing.  I'm actually having trouble even outputting the digital signal at all with my USB-6501.  I was initially trying to use DAQ Assistant, but then found out I probably shouldn't be using this and instead should be using the DAQmx individual functions.  I was directed by NI Support to look at the example "Gen Dig Pulse Train-Continuous.vi," but I haven't been able to figure out how to use this for my application.   For my project I  want to send a TTL signal to vavles that release fluids as well.  I have 3 2-way liquid releasing valves that I want to be synced so that only one is open at a time (for a user specified amount of time), and they open in a regular repeating sequence.  I also have another 3-way valve controlling a vacuum that I would like to be continuously pulsing, but for specified amounts of time (e.g., 3 seconds open, 3 seconds closed, and so on).
    I believe I can figure out the logic and the programming involved with figuring out the exact sequencing and timing manipulation, however, I'm having trouble just being able to output any digital signal with a varying time.  If you could offer any help on this, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

  • Using include with variables (String)?

    Is it possible to include a *.jspf page from a variable (string)?
    I'm currently trying something like this, but I know it isn't quite correct (the PAGE string is already defined):
    <%@ include file="${PAGE}" %>I'm sure this is simple, but I'm pretty new to using JSP (I'm used to normal Java classes and the JSP syntax can be confusing at first...).
    Thanks!

    Ok, you're mixing up your EL expressions with scriptlet variables.
    These things are not the same.
    String PAGE = "pages/home.jspf"; decleares a scriptlet variable called PAGE
    You can normally access it using the scriptlet expression tag like <%= PAGE %>
    ${PAGE} is an EL expression.
    The EL variables are stored as attributes in the page, request, session and application scopes.
    So ${PAGE} will not give you the value of the scriptlet variable Page.
    ${PAGE} is approximately equal to pageContext.findAttribute("PAGE") in java.
    Probably the easiest fix would be to use a scriptlet expression rather than an EL expression.
    <jsp:include page="<%= PAGE %>"/>The better fix would be not to use any scriptlet code at all in your JSP, and maybe just use the JSTL conditional tags.
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core"%>
    <c:set var="PAGE" value="${requestScope.page}"/>
    <c:if test="${empty requestScope.page}">
      <c:set var="PAGE" value="pages/home.jspf"/>
    </c:if>
    <jsp:include page="${PAGE}"/>
    //or
    <c:import url="${PAGE}"/>Cheers,

  • Using a string variable to create an object

    Hi, I just have a quick question. It is probably very simple but I can not seem to find an asnwer anywhere.
    I have a class called Receive, from this class I derrive 12 difference other classes.
    I also have a hashtable with a bunch of Object objects. At run time I get one of these objects according to some hastable key. So once I have this object I need to cast it to the right type (one of the above mentioned 12).
    So I know I can find out which type this object is by doing this: object.getClass()
    This returns a Class object. I then need to somehow use this class object to perform the cast. I tried everything and it doesnt seem to work. Then I thought well I can get the string name of the class : object.getClass().getName()
    So I'm wandering if there is a way to use this string to cast my object. Or maybe there is another way.
    I did see the cast() method in the Class api but I can't figure out the point of it since is returns an Object class object and not my class's object.

    I took your advice and re factored the Receive class so it had all the functionality I needed except two methods which would then be overridden in the derived classes. What I had a hard time understanding is once an object of class say SpecialReceive extends Receive it can be referred to as Receive yet still maintain that it's a SpecialReceive.
    What I mean is if I give a Receive object to some method and this method has no idea that this object is actually SpecialReceive and it calls a method say run() which gets overridden by the SpecialReceive. I thought that since this method has no idea what type of Receive this object is it will execute Receive's run(). But it actually does know what type of class it is and it executes the right run() method (the one that SpecialReceive overrides).
    After I realized this there is no more need for casting.
    Thanks everyone for your contributions.

  • Using variables w/ loadMovieNum

    what is the proper syntax for using variables with loadMovie
    num?
    ive set up a button that will define a var
    on (press) {
    var bigpic = "2";
    _root.gotoAndPlay("out");
    and then further down the timeline ,
    i would like to use that the var bigpic in a loadMovieNum
    command....
    but what is the proper way to do this ?
    thanks,
    tony

    it all depends on what the intention of the variable bigpic
    is... is it intended as the level you want to load a movie in? if
    so then it needs to be a number rather than a string:
    var bigpic = 2;
    and then later:
    loadMovieNum("pic.jpg", bigpic);
    but maybe bigpic is the number of the picture that you want
    to bring in...?
    then you use something like:
    loadMovieNum("pic"+bigpic+".jpg", 2);
    (assuming that you're bringing in jpgs, that they're called
    pic1.jpg, pic2.jpg etc and you're loading them into level 2.)

    documentation

  • Using variables to insert data in the table

    I want to insert datas in the table. I use constants,

    %>
    <br><br>
    Mr./Ms. <%=n1 %> <br>
    Your datas have been stored.<br>
    </body>
    </html>
    Those who know answer please reply.
    My thanks in advance.

    I would expect your insert statement to be this:
    statement1.executeUpdate("insert into cust1 (cno,n,add1,add2,phone,email) values('"+cno1+"','"+n1+"','"+add11+"','"+add21+"','"+phone1+"','"+email1+"')");
    If you just create a string, it's not going to fill in variables into the string by magic.

  • Powershell use Connection String to query Database and write to Excel

    Right now I have a powershell script that uses ODBC to query SQL Server 2008 / 2012 database and write to EXCEL
    $excel = New-Object -Com Excel.Application
    $excel.Visible = $True
    $wb = $Excel.Workbooks.Add()
    $ws = $wb.Worksheets.Item(1)
    $ws.name = "GUP Download Activity"
    $qt = $ws.QueryTables.Add("ODBC;DSN=$DSN;UID=$username;PWD=$password", $ws.Range("A1"), $SQL_Statement)
    if ($qt.Refresh()){
    $ws.Activate()
    $ws.Select()
    $excel.Rows.Item(1).HorizontalAlignment = $xlCenter
    $excel.Rows.Item(1).VerticalAlignment = $xlTop
    $excel.Rows.Item("1:1").Font.Name = "Calibri"
    $excel.Rows.Item("1:1").Font.Size = 11
    $excel.Rows.Item("1:1").Font.Bold = $true
    $filename = "D:\Script\Reports\Status_$a.xlsx"
    if (test-path $filename ) { rm $filename }
    $wb.SaveAs($filename, $xlOpenXMLWorkbook) #save as an XML Workbook (xslx)
    $wb.Saved = $True #flag it as being saved
    $wb.Close() #close the document
    $Excel.Quit() #and the instance of Excel
    $wb = $Null #set all variables that point to Excel objects to null
    $ws = $Null #makes sure Excel deflates
    $Excel=$Null #let the air out
    I would like to use connection string to query the database and write results to EXCEL, i.e.
    $SQL_Statement = "SELECT ..."
    $conn = New-Object System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection
    $conn.ConnectionString = "Server=10.10.10.10;Initial Catalog=mydatabase;User Id=$username;Password=$password;"
    $conn.Open()
    $cmd = New-Object System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand($SQL_Statement,$conn)
    do{
    try{
    $rdr = $cmd.ExecuteReader()
    while ($rdr.read()){
    $sql_output += ,@($rdr.GetValue(0), $rdr.GetValue(1))
    $transactionComplete = $true
    catch{
    $transactionComplete = $false
    }until ($transactionComplete)
    $conn.Close()
    How would I read the columns and data for $sql_output into an EXCEL worksheet. Where do I find these tutorials?

    Hi Q.P.Waverly,
    If you mean to export the data in $sql_output to excel document, please try to format the output with psobject:
    $sql_output=@()
    do{
    try{
    $rdr = $cmd.ExecuteReader()
    while ($rdr.read()){
    $sql_output+=New-Object PSObject -Property @{data1 = $rdr.GetValue(0);data2 =$rdr.GetValue(1)}
    $transactionComplete = $true
    catch{
    $transactionComplete = $false
    }until ($transactionComplete)
    $conn.Close()
    Then please try to use the cmdlet "Export-Csv" to export the data to excel like:
    $sql_output | Export-Csv d:\data.csv
    Or you can export to worksheet like:
    $excel = New-Object -ComObject Excel.Application
    $excel.Visible = $true
    $workbook = $excel.Workbooks.Add()
    $sheet = $workbook.ActiveSheet
    $counter = 0
    $sql_output | ForEach-Object {
    $counter++
    $sheet.cells.Item($counter,1) = $_.data1$sheet.cells.Item($counter,2) = $_.data2}

  • SAP PI: Using Variable Header  Binding in Receiver Mail Adapter

    Hello,
    I try to use Variable Header Bindings in the Receiver Mail Adapter. Therefore I wrote the following User-Defined-Function in a mapping:
    Java Function Start -
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
        .getTransformationParameters()
        .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key1 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
        "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail",
        "XHeaderName1");
    DynamicConfigurationKey key2 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
        "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail",
        "XHeaderName2");
    DynamicConfigurationKey key3 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
        "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail",
        "XHeaderName3");
    conf.put(key1, new String("Test1"));
    conf.put(key2, new String("Test2"));
    conf.put(key3, new String("Test3"));
    Java Function End -
    As expected I see the Attributes and Parameters in the Dynamic Configuration in the SAP XI Monitor:
    Dynamic Configuration Informattion Start -
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
    - <!--  Mapping der Request-Message

      </SAP:DynamicConfiguration>
    Dynamic Configuration Informattion End -
    Now I configure my Receiver eMail Communication Channel and set the Variable Header Fields as follows:
       Adapter Specific Attributes: Checked
       Variable Transport Binding: Checked
       Variable Header (XHeaderName1): TSender
       Variable Header (XHeaderName2): TReceiver
       Variable Header (XHeaderName3): TOther
    With this configuration I would have expected three new Header fields in the Header of the eMail, the reicever gets. But they are not there.
    When I set standard attributes like THeaderTO, THeaderSubject a.s.o this works fine and the values are also set accordingly. Where it the mistake here?
    The PI version we are working with is PI 7.0 SP10.
    Your help will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Hi Luciana,
    Honestly, I cant really remember how or if it was resolved and I was just helping out on the issue, but another consultant continued with it, so unfortunately I cant be any help on this.

  • INSERT statement in JSP using variables

    People,
    I am having problems inserting data from JSP into a MySQL database.
    For example the following works perfectly fine:
    String query = "INSERT INTO `test2` (`name`, `topic`, `message`) VALUES ('Jane Doe', 'Hi there', 'Example message')";
    But, however the problems take place if I try to use variable values as parameters instead of pre-defined strings.
    E.g. the following (among a 100 other ways I have tried by now) does not work):
    String query = "INSERT INTO `test2` (`name`) VALUES (`" + userName +"`)";
    stmt.executeUpdate(query);
    This did not work either:
    PreparedStatement PStmt = myConn.prepareStatement("insert into (`name`) values (?)");
    PStmt.setString(1, new String("`" + userName + "`"));
    PStmt.executeUpdate();
    I have tried without parenthesis etc. but what I pretty much get every time is:

    I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

    Hi,
    I think i know the problem.
    Take a look on your String code :
    "INSERT INTO `test2` (`name`, `topic`, `message`) VALUES ('Jane Doe', 'Hi there', 'Example message')";
    it is not necessary to put QUOTE for the tablename and the fields.
    my code work with :
    String query = "INSERT INTO test2 VALUES( ' " + 123 + " ' ) ";
    ( if you inserting into all fields in your table ) OR
    String query = "INSERT INTO test2 ( abc ) VALUES( ' " + 123+ " ' ) ";
    ( if you need to select certain fields ).
    or you can try to refer to :

    hope this help.

  • Using variables in paths to objects

    Hi
    I'm wondering how I can use a string in a declared variable
    for a path to an object. Here's an example:
    On the press of a button a variable is declared:
    _root.nextsection = "news";
    And later on I want to use the string "news" in a path, like
    this (on a frame action):
    if (_root.nextsection == "news") {
    this.nextsection.gotoAndPlay(1);
    As you can see in the second line I'm using the variable name
    as a path... but this doesn't work.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Depending of where your if statement is, if your
    this.nextsection is the
    same as _root.nextsection, since this is a string and not an
    mc, what it
    does is:
    "news".gotoAndPlay(1).
    If you had a movieclip named news in the _root, then you
    could do:
    _root[_root.nextsection].gotoAndPlay(1) // EQUIVALENT TO
    _root["news"] or
    _root.news
    Other option is:
    var mynextsection_mc = eval("_root." + _root.nextsection) ;
    mynextsection_mc.gotoAndPlay(1);
    Flash will evaluate your constructed string "_root.news" to
    an object and
    return it, if it doesn't match anything, then you will get an
    undefined.

  • Using variables in a button function

    I am new to AS3 and building a simple flash banner. There
    will be four movie clips consisting of just one word each (in the
    sample below I'm just using rectangle for now). When moused over
    each word will show a rectangle with a message in it, like a large
    tool tip. I have a rudimentary version working fine, see code
    below.
    Question 1: Is there a way to just write on function which
    will work with all four buttons changing the message, say using
    variables like AS2?
    Question 2: Does the code below look relatively efficient?
    I'm sure there are better ways to write it.
    Here's a link to the rudimentary version,
    http://www.rivergraphics.net/tests/button3.html,
    that should give you an idea of what I'm trying to do.
    Thanks.

    Simply use the information that's passed along with the event
    to figure out which item raised the event. Then you can easily call
    the other items that correspond to the button raising the event.

  • Using variable names for object names

    Is there any way you can use a String variable to name an object? I.e., something like:
    String name = "objectName";
    \\ create an Image object named objectName
    Image (name.valueOf()) = new Image();
    This code obviously does not work, but I'm working on a map applet which uses a map composed of thousands of tiles, and then shows only a portion of the map by drawing the appropriate tiles into the window using the x/y coordinates and a nested for loop to determine which tiles to draw. However, unless I want to manually declare and then call each of these Image objects, I need to have a way to have the actual name of each image object be a reference to a variable, which I will then initalize according to the name of the tile I'm using. Does that make sense at all? Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any way to do this. Thanks.

    Typically this is done using a Collection, for example:
    Image[] img = new Image[100];
    for (int i=0; i<img.length;i++)
      img[i] = new Image();... Sort of thing.

  • How to remove ":"  in file name while using Variable substution

    Hi ALL
    I am using  file adapter and I what to create file name dynamically by acesssing PO number and time stamp from the payload using variable substution.
    But the problem is I am getting ":" in time stamp field value and it is not acceptable for file name .
    So could you please tell me a way that I can remove this ":" from that particular field value and create the file name dynamically.
    Note 1)Add Time stamp option will not help me as we require a time stamp of particular zone.
    2) Dynamic Configuration code is also not use full as I am using 1:n file creation

    does the time stamp with the ":" a part of your output file?
    else use a replaceAll function in your mapping and replace the : with empty string then use the value in the variable substitution
    Another option is use the normal BPM for 1: N message flow. The use a simple java mapping that will introduce a dynamic configuration and you can create the file name as you want. the java mapping will be used in the flow of messages from BPM to target system.
