Moving the zcm database from RC2 to General Release.
Is there any documentation that outlines moving a zcm database from RCX to the General Release?
Thanks,
Patrick

Hi,
Suddenly I got this error in SCVMM 2012-R2 Roll-up 1:
When working with User-Roles (create/update) or assigning a Cloud :
"VMM encountered a critical exception and created an exception report....
search user forums for well-known failure root causes for self-help" (how sweet)... (if it's "well known", why not coding the exception handling correctly?)
The relevant part of the report might be this:
"SCVMM Version=3.2.7620.0
SCVMM flavor=C-buddy-RTL-AMD64
Default Assembly Version=3.2.7620.0
Executable Name=vmmservice.exe
Executable Version=3.2.7510.0
Base Exception Target Site=140717670746840
Base Exception Assembly name=System.Data.dll
Base Exception Method Name=System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError
Exception Message=Unable to connect to the VMM database because of a general database failure.
Ensure that the SQL Server is running and configured correctly, then try the operation again."
(side question: what does this mean: "Ensure that the SQL Server is ... configured correctly"?
I can say that :
SQL is configured by the book, that all services are running (did a reboot of VMM server too) and that all other VMM functions work OK. I don't believe that SQL is only used for user-roles...
Acting as Domain admin and VMM admin.
All updates are installed.
Please find the report @the and and a screen shot attached.
Thanks for any help.

Thomas.I (quite honestly) am one of those folks that generally do not read the KB articles associated with a patch or UR or SP - as you don't expect details like have been put into this particular one.
But as Kristian pointed out - within that KB article is the SQL script that modifies / updates this SQL Stored Procedure.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/scvmm/archive/2014/01/29/how-to-update-scvmm-2012-r2-to-update-rollup-1.aspx
Needless to say, the feedback was given to MSFT that folks would overlook that this SQL script needed to be run. So we are just trying to help out.

Hi all,
I'm invoking a stored procedure from the reporting database from the project server onPublished event. I'm having some issues in getting the details of that particular project from the published event handler. This i noticed that there is some
delay is taking place in moving the data(project uid ) from the published to the reporting database .
My stored procedure select statement is as follows:
SELECT ProjectUID, ProjectName FROM MSP_EpmProject_UserView
WHERE ProjectUID=value
This stored procedure is invoked from the onPublished event of the project server event handler where that particular projectuid is passed in that stored procedure.I have noticed that some delay is taking palce to move the data into the reporting database.
My stored procedure got invoked from the onPublished event of the project server event handler before the delay is complete. So the row selected from the stored procedure is alwys zero (0). Is there any other method to wait for repoting database
to get refreshed. Please help me .Hi sabithad,
The issue you are facing is because of the conflict of permissions, event handlers always works through administrative user credentials whereas the project is open in edit mode by the logged-in user. And you are tyring to update custom field at the back
end with Administrative credentials, while project queue is in process by logged-in users credentials. Its not gonna work this way :)
The best option is to use Javascript on your PDP using CEWP, you can either build your complete logic in JavaScript and place that code on your PDP. OR you can use the combination of JavaScript and PSI and create a webpart to be placed on PDP.
below blog link willgive you directions to go ahead with, but for sure the solution to your query is
JavaScript :)

hope this helps.

Lost bookmarks, cookies and history when I moved the Folder 'Users' from the C disk to D disk. What can I do to retrieve them intact?
Hi voyant
I would put the Users folder back... moving it will cause a lot of issues with applications.
Instead you can just copy individual files/folders from C:\Users\your_username\Documents,Pictures,Music.... to your D drive to save space on C.

Moved the 'breakOpportunity' style from BasicInheritingTextStyles.as to AdvancedInheritingTextStyles.as, so it is declared on fewer components now. As far as I can tell, it is mainly useful in rich text.

How do I turn of ligatures in the font rendering?
My flex project involves trying to match the font rendering of Apache's Batik rendering of SVG and ligatures have been turned off in that codebase. Is there any way (even roundabout) to turn ligatures off in flash?

Moving the mailbox database copy from one exchange server to another exchange server 2010 DAG
Hello Team
is it possible to the move the passive copy of database and logs from one server to another exchange server in the same DAG with out removing and deleting the mailbox database copies in exchange 2010
normaly procedure is
Remove the mailbox database copies and manually delete the .edb files and logs from the physical location and re-add the mailbox database copy to the new server in the DAG.
is that any way to achieve to move the passive database copy to another exchange 2010 server in the same DAG ?From your note, you appear to have a two-member DAG (with a server hosting your active database, and a second hosting the passive copy), and you want to move your passive database copy from the current passive server to another. Your note
about what "the normal procedure is" isn't 100% correct - there are many ways to handle this task, and all can be considered "normal". Why not just add the third server to the DAG and
add a database copy on that third server? Once it is fully seeded, you can remove the current passive copy. This way, you never lose your redundancy.
Yes i can add the third and fourth serve in DAG , but i cannot add the mailbox database copies to the 3rd and 4th mailbox server in DAG as am using RTM version of exchange 2010 which is allowing to have only 5 database inclding mailbox datbase copies
and also currently my lab setup is two member dag (with a server hosting your active database,
and a second hosting the passive copy) in the same site named SITE A
and recently i have created new SITE B and included the 3rd and 4th DAG members in the same DAG
i want the mailbox database copies from the mailbox server database in SITE A to
Mailbox server database in SITE B as passive copy
That is why i want to move the mailbox database without deleting / removing it manually
Hope you understand my situation! -
Can anyone give me the steps for moving the repository databases in 9.3.0?
We are in the 9.3.0 environment and I need to move the four repository databases for essbase, biplus and webanalysis/workspace to a new machine. I tested moving the databases and rerunning the config util, but I lost my sample reports I created earlier. Does anyone have a step by step procedure for moving the repositories?
Thanks,
-C.If you are moving reports why don't you bulk export them from workspace and then import them into your target.
Are you talking about migrating the repository across different shared services environments, if so then I doubt you will have much luck with trying to migrate the workspace repository as it pretty tied in with shared services.
Cheers
John

I have attempted to move the portal database onto another host machine. When I move the database and point the portal at the database everything seems to work fine except for the administration area of the portal. When I try to navigate to the administration area I get an error. Can anyone help with a resolution for this?
Chris

The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details:To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. 1. stop the SAP system
2. detach th DB on the Source server
3. copy db+log files to the Target server
4. attach the db on the Target server
5. repair login/db user account following the steps:
OR
- http://blog3.daqureshi.com/archive/2008/12/16/11.aspx
6. update/change the file usr\sap\<sid>\sys\profile\default.prf
7. start the configtool and within the keystore change the jdbc connection parameters so that it points to the new DB Server
8. save this action!!!!
9. exit and restart the configtool and look if its connecting to the new DB Server
10. exit the confconfigtool.
11. start your SAP System
Good Luck!

Hi Team,
I am trying to move the .pdf files from drop-off library to custom library.
For the above requirement i am writing content organizer rule condition like (On Group: Document content types & Type: Document)
Property: Name
Operator: Ends with
value: .pdf
and Setting value in target location like
/sites/MS/ProductGuides
How to solve the issue
If help appriciated
Regards,
DhayaHi Dhaya,
I created a Content Organizer rule like this:
When uploading a .pdf file to the Drop Off library, it is moved to the destination library immediately:
I suggest you create a similar rule as above for another test to see if the issue still persists.
Thanks

Moving Oracle 9i database from AIX 5.2 to AIX 5.3
Hi,
We are planing to move few of our Oracle 9i databases from AIX 5.2 to AIX 5.3 on another server. Will offline backup/restore work in this case ? The databases are fairly big (> 1 TB each). Looking for some advice.. Thanks.

Hi Kamran,
As the DBs are fairly large ( approx. 1 TB each), how long it would take to copy the databases to the target server using RMAN DUPLICATE .. ? Do you think offline backup/restore would be a better approach ? Both the source and target boxes are co-located in the same data center. Thanks !
Rgds,
HimansuI assume that RMAN will be more faster than hard copy/paste (cold backup). I can't say how much it will probably take to take RMAN DUPLICATE, but it should be faster than cold backup

Connecting to the Oracle8i database from the browser
Can any one please tell me the architecture requirements and setup for connecting to the orcle 8i database from the browser. I am dummy in internet programming but I would like to learn it.
We currently have "Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0 - 64bit Production" installed on HP-UX B.11.00 server with "JServer Release 8.1.7.4.0 - 64bit Production"
Basically I want to create a simple ADD/MODIFY/DELETE/VIEW screen in the browser,
connecting to the oracle 8i database, select data and display it on the browser.
In order to achieve this, what should I install in the Oracle database or what should I check in the database to see if that is installed already.
Currently it has the Java pool created, clasess installed already and also the XML
packages installed already. (i.e XMLGEN, XMLPARSER, XML....)
what are the other O/S level set up is necessary. I currently have "Microsoft Internet Explorer" 4.72 version.
Thanks in advance.
Pushparajhi ,
well you can do it by using PL/SQL web tool kit packages.
HTP package,OWA_ packages...
Mostly these are there with in 8.1.7.
Check by logging into SYS user
select * from all_objects where object_name like 'OWA%'
No need of wasting intially ur time in XML or any thing.
So see the package body and nowing that u can write your own procedure using those packages.
and deploye it in jserver.
we have done and it's working
all the very best

Moving oracle 9i database from windows 2000 to windows 2003 server
hi everybody,
plz provide me a solution how to move oracle 9i database from windows 2000 server to windows 2003 server with step by step and also with commands plz as i am very new to oracle
thanks in advance
sureshInstall 9i on windows 2003 server and patch to the same level as the Oracle on Windows 2k
Shutdown and make a cold backup of your old database. That includes datafiles, controlfiles, redo files, init file (spfile)
Copy and put these files to the exact same directory structure/location, for example if old file is under D:\oradata\mysid\ then the file on new file should be under same directory. (If you are using Network Storage that make things easier, just mapping to the same drive letter.)
Also make sure archive log dest and all dump dest directories are created. You don't have to copy all old logs and dump files over.
Use oradim to create a new service for the database instance
http://www.psoug.org/reference/oradim.html
Set proper ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID envionment varibles
Run netca to configure listener, actually copy listener.ora and tnsnames.ora to $ORACLE_HOME\network\admin will do

Moving a LR Database from External to Laptop?
I have a LR Database completely on an external HD, ie. the photos and LR database file are on the HD. I'd like to move the LR database to my laptop and only store the original files on the external HD. I'd like to be able to view, keyword, organize the images on my laptop even though I'm not connected to the original images.
What's the best way to do this? Can I simply copy all the files, other than the original images, from the ext to my laptop? Anything I should be aware of?Just move (best copy it and when everything is working delete the lrcat on the external...or just leave it as a back up) the lrcat file (and the associated previews folder, unless you want to rebuild the previews). Double click on this to open. If it has lost track of the location of the folders then just right click on the highest level and point it to the folder location. You can work on the images without them being physically present, but you cannot export or write changes to the files unless the external disk is present.

Moving the iTunes repository from FireWire external to Airport Extreme
I am looking at getting the Airport Extreme, and moving my iTunes repository from an external firewire drive to an Airport Extreme attached disk. Ideally I'd like to just reattach my firewire disk to the Airport Extreme (it has a USB connection point as well). Is there any easy way to tell iTunes the new mount point? I know I could put in a second disk and do the move within iTunes, but that seems like days of copying for no valid purpose.
Thoghts or ideas? The Airport Extreme base station doesn't have a firewire port. You'd have to move your music to a USB drive.
You also might want to check out Jason O'Grady's experience with putting his library on an Air Disk.
