MS office components

We have numerous installs of MS Office Standard yet when running compliance reports, the individual components are being added to thye count, as well as the suiute itself. How can we eliminate the individuals components from being added?

  • Problem with database tool kit, and MS Office Tool kit.

One of my programmer's who has the Office tool kit noticed this on Monday, and we haven't been able to find the problem yet.
We use the database connectivity reads and writes to a MS Access database. This program reads the data from a Symbol Scanner, and then inputs it into the database.  He then has a query that to create a data table to pump into the MS Toolkit to build a MS World file (This is for a Bill of Lading).
What we found it that it works really well the first time, and on any further runs it will not update the database with any new data. It starts working again if we do a restart on the computer.  It seems like something is not freeing up the database.   He is freeing all the tables and closing the DB connection at each process, and everything else seems to be doing everything else right.  I think the problem is that it goes into this MS Toolkit to make the table that goes on the Bill of Lading.
I did a modification that makes it read from an excel file on my desktop, and I found that it is doing the same thing. I deleted the report generator part of the program, and found that it will update the database properly.  I have no clue.
    here is the machine specs:
    labview 8.6
    Database connectivity toolkit 1.0.2
Report generator toolkit MS Office 1.1.3
MS Office 2007, the file is a Office 2003 format,

Given that the code still fails when talking to a excel file it sounds like this isn't really related to the database. Can you post a bit of your that shows the problem. Beyond that, be looking for things in the code that change between subsequent interations -- things like shift registers, globals, etc.
On the other hand, the fact that you have to restart the computer would tend to indicate that there is something going on with the MS Office side of things. To be clear: shutting down and restarting LV is NOT sufficient to clear the problem?
When the problem is occurring, if you shut down LV and open the Task Manager do you see (on the Processes tab) any MS Office components still running?

  • Installing SAP GUI on 64-bit Windows 7 with 32-bit Office

Until about 6 months ago, 64-bit systems in my environment had 64-bit Office 2010 installed.  That caused some problems with other applications, so I made the decision that, going forward, ALL systems would have 32-bit Office 2010 installed.
Apparently, it's taken 6 months, but I finally have a need to Install SAP GUI 7.20 Patch 6 on a 64-bit Windows 7 system with 32-bit Office 2010.  It turns out, that doesn't work.
    I receive this:
Not all package prerequisits [sic] are fulfilled
Outlook Client extension for the synchronization of SAPoffice calendar with Outlook calendar... No compatible version of Microsoft Outlook found.
I am assuming that since this same installation works on my 32-bit systems, that it is upset about my architecturally-mismatched Office.
Am I correct about the source for this problem?  If so, is there anything I can do to make the GUI work in this environment?

    Hi John,
Actually, there is no mismatch in having 32-bit Office installed on 64-bit Windows.  In fact, this is probably the preferred environment.  SAPGUI in general is much happier with 32-bit Office, especially older patches (by the way, 7.20 is no longer in support -- you should upgrade to 7.30).
The errors you're receiving are most probably related to lingering 64-bit components of Office on your workstation.  We had the same situation in my office a while back, when we first started rolling out 64-bit Windows to a few users, and the PC techs mistakenly thought that meant they had to install 64-bit Office.  That caused lots of problems, since 64-bit Office is incompatible with many things, not just SAPGUI, as you found.  Correcting the error by simply reinstalling Office 32-bit resulting in workstations with some 64-bit and some 32-bit components, and that just made things worse.  Systems where 32-bit Office was installed from the beginning (on 64-bit OS) had no problems at all.
So, what you're probably going to need to do is to uninstall all Office components (including Outlook, Visio, anything like that, not just Word and Excel), and also uninstall your SAPGUI, then reinstall 32-bit Office (with Outlook) from scratch, then reinstall your SAPGUI.  This will probably clear up your problem.

    Matt

  • How do I remove the pre-installed Microsoft Office software from my T61 running XP-Pro?

I've reviewed the Lenovo support item on uninstall instructions but it does not say how to get the software off of my hard drive.  Here's the Lenovo item.
To properly uninstall Microsoft Office 2007 Trial from the Lenovo preload, the following applications must be removed.
    2007 Microsoft Office System
Activation Assistant for the 2007 Microsoft Office Suites
Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007
    Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components
Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies
Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components
    MS SQL Server 2005
    MS SQL Server Native Client
MS SQL Server Setup Support Files
    MS SQL Server VSS Writer
Uninstalling the Microsoft Office 2007 Office System will not remove all the components.
Uninstalling Business Contact Manager for Outlook will also uninstall MS SQL Server Components. During the uninstall routine, it will ask to delete the mail data file that contains the Business Contact Manager. Clicking OK, will remove the BCM, but not the SQL server apps, as the uninstall states.
    From this point uninstall:
    Activation Assistant,
    MS Office 2003 Web Components
MS Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies,
MS Office Small Business Connectivity Components.
Then remove the MS SQL Server Components of server native client, server setup support files, and VSS writer.
Then remove the Activation Assistant shortcut from the desktop.
The first 3 apps listed are not installed because I have not run the activation assistant for the Office trial that came with the T61.  Add/Remove programs has only these pre-installed apps:
    Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components
Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies
Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components
    MS SQL Server 2005
    MS SQL Server Native Client
MS SQL Server Setup Support Files
    MS SQL Server VSS Writer
Is the activation assistant one of them?  I want to inactivate it because it is occasionally triggered somehow.  Besides unintalling those preinstalled apps, I want to take all of the Office components off of my hard disk.
Add/Remove also has these apps but I'm thinking they are not part of Office -- please correct me if I'm wrong
    Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366)
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1
    Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard 1.52
FYI, I am using Lotus Suite and OpenOffice.
How do I tidy this up without creating more trouble?  Thanks in advance for suggestions.

No, AFAIK should be listed as Microsoft Office Suite Activation Assistant

  • Installing Microsoft Office:mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition

I am trying to install Microsoft Office:mac 2004 student and teacher edition.
I don't know how to achieve this.
I have tried the Office Setup Assistant but it says "You can't open the application "Office Setup Assistant" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
So, I assume I have to do the "Drag the Microsoft Office 2004 folder to your hard disk to install all Office components" option.
Being very new to iMac, my question is, "Where exactly do I drag it to?  Which icon along the bottom or should it go somewhere else?
    Any help would be great
    Thanks

It will not work with Mountain Lion. You need Office 2011 for OS X.
Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • What exactly is Office Tools in the sharepoint Designer 2010 install?

I was looking for a solution to problems we have been having with Office 2003 and Sharepoint 2010 and I was able to fix it by installing Sharepoint Designer 2010. However I didn't want to install the entire Sharepoint Designer software on the clients PC
so I just installed Office Tools from the installer but I can't figure out what it's changing for this to work.
Can you give me an idea as to what exactly being installed in the Office Tools component of Sharepoint Designer?
    Regards

According to you description,my understanding is you want to know how it fixed your problem by installing Office Tools. If yes, please refer the below description.
All Microsoft Office components from MS Office 2007 and newer contains a component (OWSSUPP.DLL) that implements full integration with SharePoint. Full integration is often noticed by the user in that it enables checking documents in and out from the application
(as opposed to manually checking out and downloading the document, open the application manually and work with the file, manually uploading the file to the right SharePoint site and checking it in again).
So when you install Office Tools in the Client machine, the above dll will get installed an enabled in the browser and user will get option to open the document/excel file from the SharePoint site using the local Office Product which was installed in the
client machine. That dll integrates the SharePoint application with Office Product.

  • Office 2010 Deployment

In my organization, we deploy office 2010 components separately - excel, outlook, word, and PowerPoint. We have been deploying it via Zenworks and few month ago we switched to SCCM.
So most office components are already deployed via ZenWorks and when migrating from Zenworks to SCCM, I am deploying outlook, excel, word and PP shortcuts to the desktop. (The Current Shortcuts to outlook and rest is a ZENWorks Shortcut - it goes away when
we stop using the Zen agent)
Instead of doing that I wanted to repair the office installation silently via Config.xml file and it runs successfully but it does not create a shortcut to the user's desktop (outlook, excel etc ...)
    setup.exe /repair Outlook /config  \\SCCM-SourceFolder\Apps\Microsoft\Office2010Componentsx32\Outlook\Outlook.WW\SilentRepairConfig.xml
Is it possible to have the repair setup create a shortcut? can I use my .msp file incorporated with the above command?

    Hi,
/repair command line will not create desktop shortcuts. And a .msp file can be used together with above command.
I would suggest you to create a .msp file with OCT tool, and configure it to create desktop shortcuts for any Office applications in
    Additional content>Configure shortcuts section.
Please note that /adminfile [path] command-line option can be used only during initial installation of the product, so you might need to put that .msp file into
updates folder, and then apply it.

  • Help deleting Office Test Drive

    Good afternoon.
I have never used Office Test Drive on my mini. My daughter, who's in college, purchased Office:Mac and I want to install it on her iBook, as well as the mini, as she often does work on that also.
I can't seem to delete the version that is on the mini, which needs to be done before you can install the version she bought.
When I click on the Remove Office icon in the Office folder it goes through and searches my drive. A .txt file is put on my desktop which says it found Office 2004 test drive for Mac. However, when it goes to the results screen in the removal tool, where I suppose to select what I want to remove, nothing is showing up. If I click on continue, it tells me that I've chosen not to removed any office components. Well, duh!! There's nothing to select!!!
How can I get rid of this to install the full version my daughter purchased?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi wyzard,
On your hard disk, open Microsoft Office 2004 folder that contains the Test Drive. Any documents you saved in the Microsoft Office 2004 Test Drive shoud be moved somewhere in your documents folder.
In the Microsoft Office 2004 folder, double-click "Remove Office". In the Results window, choose Microsoft Office 2004 (including Test Drive) and then click "continue" and follow the prompts.

  • [Outlook 2013] Apps for Office and Internet Explorer 11 (IE11)

    We have the following configuration:
    Windows 7 Professional,
    Internet Explorer 11,
    Microsoft Office 2013 (32-bit),
    Microsoft Exchange 2013 CU6,
    Symantec Enterprise Vault 11.
Patch level Microsoft Until 03-oct-2014, so very very recent.
What is the problem, in Exchange its possible to use "Office Web Apps" for integration with OWA. This works very good and we dont have any problems with OWA and the Office Web Apps within OWA Enterprise client.
But, in Outlook 2013, almost every "App for Office" crashes with a popup from Internet Explorer 11. When we open the App, we get a loading.... and after a while A popup with the message "Internet Exporer stopped working".
This is with every App i tested. And it can be reproduced.
    What we tried:
    Proxy settings;
    Re-install Office 2013;
    Internet Zone settings;
    Browser compatibility modus with zones;
    Reset internet explorer settings;
    Various reg-hacks for IE security;
GPO settings for untrusted locations of Office Web Apps.
    And lucky? No.
So we went back to IE9, and it works like a charm. No problems at all. But Unfortunately, IE9 is not an option due to company apps written for IE10+.
But when it works outside Outlook 2013 in IE11, but not inside outlook with IE11, there must be a problem somewhere with Outlook 2013/IE 11 integration. And actually, the currents Apps we don't need in Outlook 2013 (until snd quarter 2015, then we need them).
So for this time we configured "Block Apps for Office" GPO setting and depoyed it. And... In Every Office components Apps are disabled, but NOT in Outlook. So the GPO is not working for Outlook.
    How to solve?

Here the procesmon dump where IE actually crashes...

  • MS Office 12.1.3 update problem

I've got Office 2008 (12.1.2) on my Leopard-based (10.5.5) Mac Pro. I went to do the latest update of Office (to 12.1.3) and it hangs at the point of asking me which drive to install it on. It tells me my startup drive is unavailable, and then proceeds to tell me that the five other drives I have are unavailable. I've never encountered this problem with any software before. I've repaired permissions with Disk Utility (no permission errors), I've checked the permissions on the Office components against the permissions of all other software in the applications folder, and the folder itself. I've rebooted, restarted, and done just about everything I can think of. Nothing will release the startup drive from inaccessibility. Yet, I can go to version tracker, pick another piece of software I have that requires upgrading, and it goes without a hitch. I'm beginning to think this is a problem with the Office Installer. I've also tried downloading the update from different sources multiple times with no success.
Anyone have any thoughts about this? Anyone succeed in installing the update?
Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place. I'm not sure if this is a Microsoft problem (most likely) or an Apple problem, but it is bugging me.
    Thanks.

I believe it's an MS problem, but you might get more support here:

  • Is it possible to activate Microsoft Office 2010 with the answer file?

    Hello
I'm not sure if this is possible but I have a volume product Key for Microsoft Office 2010 and I am currently working on an image that would activate Office 2010. Is that possible and how would I put that in the answer file? Everything I see on product key
activation just goes to activating for Operating systems on the image. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, it's completely possible, but there are some specific steps you must perform, to avoid issues in the deployed computers.
This is because the Windows sysprep providers don't include a provider for Office (which means that Office doesn't get generalized by sysprep).
You must also take care *not* to execute any Office applications/components *after* running ospprearm.exe (because that will cause the Office components to indivuate, which un-does the effects of ospprearm.exe)
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178964(v=office.14).aspx
    Preparing the reference computer
To prepare the reference computer for imaging, follow these steps:
•Install Windows 7 Enterprise Volume Licensed version from DVD media.
    •Enable the local Administrator account.
•Delete the temporary user account and profile.
•Install Office Professional Plus 2010 from the network installation point.
•Rearm the Office Professional Plus 2010 installation.
    •Generalize the installation.
Also, some people find it useful to insert a specific Office activation command as a last step in the deployment. This is because Office setup will by itself only attempt automatic activation one time and will not retry. This can lead to unactivated installations,
warnings to the user, and helpdesk calls to you.e.g.:
    'cscript.exe "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /act'
This is not really an issue if you are using KMS, it's more of an issue when using MAK.

  • Microsoft Office 2008 - Excel really slow!

Two days ago I installed Snow Leopard, everything now works again (there were a few programs that were not Snow Leopard compatible), but now I have one major problem... Excel from Microsoft Office 2008 is really slow. Besides being slow opening the biggest problems I now have are:
    1) when I put data in one field and press enter, it needs 5 seconds to process it
    2) when I want to insert a field, it takes 5 seconds to process
    3) scrolling takes a few seconds to respond and then does not go smoothly
This was not the case before.... what can I do? can I downgrade from Snow Leopard back to 10.5.8? Should I wait for a new update by Microsoft? Anybody else also have these problems?
And please, do not ask me to change to iWorks or to OpenOffice, I just need to know how to solve this problem, thank you in advance.

Some more info: I have now done the re-install. I removed all office components/preference files/caches/fonts etc, re-installed, then did all the Office updates. It hasn't solved the problem, with Excel still being very sluggish.
However, I have found that I only have the problem on my iMac (22.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM). Excel 2008 runs well under 10.6 on my old MacBook (2GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM), with spreadsheets in normal or page layout view.
So I guess the problem is either hardware specific (video driver perhaps?) or there is something else installed on my iMac which is causing a conflict.
