.MTS Audio Files help needed

I'm having a little trouble with editing.
The footage I am editing are .MTS files. Both the audio and video.
The video is playing fine (well, as best it can for my rubbish uni computers) but I am having trouble hearing the audio - and I'm getting lots of conforming errors.
I read here that CS4 doesn't support .MTS audio files. If that's the case then why can I hear some of them and not the others?
Should I be converting the audio into another format before editing? If so, then what's the best format to convert to, and how can I do it in a way that I don't have to strip the audio from the video (I want to keep them perfectly synced)

Thanks for your reply, that's an interesting article. The files I am editing are stored on an external hard drive - I tried deleting a few files on there to make some room (whilst I was in the editing suite) and it wouldn't let me delete them because it said I didn't have administrator permission - despite this being my own hard drive. Could that be causing a problem with conforming? Should I copy the files accross onto the internal drive? The scratch disks are set to the local D drive.

Ps: I've just downloaded a program which is converting the .MTS files into .MOV. I don't really want to do this as this will probably loose quality - but I'm trying everything! What would be the optimum file type to convert to?

Having trouble with a audio file. Need help please!

Hello.
This may sound funny and not to related to any of this at first, but if anyone here knows about the game portal, then they know about the ARG that went on during last week and may even still be continuing. None of thats really important but if anyone cares to know, basically VALVe released a new update with 30 new sounds, 26 of them moarse code/sstv pictures. 3 of them called dinosaur_fizzle 1 2 and 3. Infact, each one was named dino_1 dino_2 and so on.
The main sound that no ones been able to crack is called Dinosaur_noise. Its obvious there are voices in it and its some sort of major clue, this file is way out of league with the other ones. No ones solved it 100% or cleaned it enough to make basically anything audible.
Now this started March 1st. Since then i have worked hours on the audio file. I have gotten close, but not close enough.
Thats why im turning to someone here, that can do a through analysis of the audio that adobe or reaper just cannot do.
In the attachments is the original file itself with no editing what so ever.
Heres some collected data.
Frequencies of interest
An analysis was undertaken to find the strongest frequencies acting within "dinosaur_noise". Linear and Logarithmic curves showed sets of dominant figures, with the most being:

There are a few standout segments, not of voice data underneath, but visible clicks or something happening about 5 times. These could be indications of splices or other manipulations going on. The largest noticed broad-spectrum spikes were:

Silence in the frequency ranges is located in the band of 10.567 - 15.337 KHz. All frequencies above that are likely to be high frequency poinoning from the FFT process.
Heres what i know personally.
-Noise reduction makes it a lot worse and adds strange harmonics and artifacts.
-Most filters do the same.
-Clear voice around 15 that says THATS AMAZING.

LabVIEW has a sound and vibration toolkit. Do you have that? Do you have LabVIEW?
The forum is made up of volunteers who will help others with their LabVIEW problems. But you need to have a specific problem and ask clear questions.
What you are asking for is very unclear. Why do you even want to do a "thorough analysis of the audio"? No one is going to do your project for you.

.mts audio files won't import/link

All of my Premiere Pro cs6 project files now show up with unlinked media. When I try to "link media" to the original files, I get the message "The selected file does not contain audio media used by clip references in one of more sequences. These audio clip references will de deleted, and cannot be undone." If I click "ok", the video does link, but the audio file disappears.
If I try to import the files anew and drag them into a sequence, the audio doesn't come with it. I've double checked in my media player that files do indeed still contain video.
I've cleaned the media cached database, and deleted and re-installed Premiere, but nothing's changed. These are .mts files, and I have Windows 7. Any suggestions?

I am having this problem with one set of mts files. I edited a couple of projects with them previously without issue, now I am trying to update an edit and the audio will not load intp PP. All of my other projects load and work fine.
The files play fine with WMP, but always show no audio when loaded into PP.
Any ideas? Of course I am on a deadline to get this edit out.

Tempo Issues with audio files - help please!

Hi all,
I have an audio file that I know to be 110 bpm - when I drag the audio file into my audio channel in logic it changes automatically to around 100bpm - the project is set to 110 - why is this happening?

Are you dragging a 48KHz sample rate file into a 44.1KHz project? If so, I think it'll play back slower

Protected AAC Audio Files Help

My own computer no longer has internet, where before it was connected to the main computer downstairs...
I recently formatted my C: drive and reinstall Windows XP Home Edition and had to reinstalled iTunes and added all my music to iTunes again.
Problem is I have to authorize all my Protected AAC Audio files but I don't have internet so I cant listen to them. I can only listen to them on my iPod.
Is there another way of authorizing my songs with the use of another computer w/ internet?

Compressing Audio Files-Help please.

Will compressing the audio files held on my hard drive in itunes meen that they can still be played as normal and will it have an effect on the synchronization with my ipod.

By compressing, I assume you mean putting them in one of the standard formats, namely mp3 or AAC, but at a lower bit rate?
If that is what you mean, then the answer is yes, you can still play them as normal. You will lose some audio quality due to the sonic information lost in the compression, so don't go do it wholesale until you have tried and assured that you are happy with the results.
(If by compressing you mean something else, e.g. zipping them, then don't bother, since they will not compress much and will not be playable until you unzip them.)

How to get Pr to conform .mts audio files?

Here's the jist.
I'm working on a project in two locations. I've copied the whole file structure over, including all original media, project files, preview files, etc, etc, from the original hard drive to my personal hard drive at home. When I go to open the project, all of the audio tracks on all of the .mts files are non-existent. If I "render and replace" they pop back, but create a crap load of extra files inside my bins. The project does not automatically start the conforming process.
How can I get Pr to conform so I don't have to "render and replace" a thousand + files? I feel like I'm missing something easy here.

Flash project audio button help needed

Hi,
I am just learning Actionscript 3 and trying to create buttons that turn a previous sound off before they turn a new one on. Also I want a button on the front that turns all sound off if it is pressed. I have attached my files in a zip folder.
The problem is all of my buttons which are inside movieclips just control the one sound. I have a couple more to do. I understand I will need an if statement but somehow I have to control all sounds and I don't quite get it.
I would really love someone to point me in the right direction. I cannot find a tutorial anywhere and am going crazy.

Try updating to 7.2.3
As far as the Manager... try doing a new expanded scan, overnight. This will update the database.
As far as the built in driver... you are selecting an INPUT.... and you expect it to change the OUTPUT??? Again, you are selecting an INPUT, while expecting the OUTPUT to change.
The Built in drivers have only 1 output available, And in your case, that is working as expected. When you want to RECORD via either input, that is when you change the driver. You should have two choices : Mic, and Line.

When you export a photo with "File > Export > Version", a File Chooser dialog will open. Set the "Export Preset" pop up to "Edit". That lets you edit the settings for the different JPEG and TIFF export settings:

Cs4 Mac : linking to open external .app files, help needed!

I have completed a CDROM for pc users for a client.
The CDROM contains 15 quizzes in exe format.
A 'portal' file links to each of these quizzes, so the user returns, having opened and completed the (.exe) quiz file, to the portal and takes another quiz.

However, my client wants a mac version,
I cant find a way to link to the macintosh projector file within the portal file.
fscomand doesnt work, geturl doesnt work.. any help really would be appreciated.

I don’t know how .Mac Backup works, so all I can say is which are the files & folders you need to restore from the backup (assuming you did actually back up them, that is).
Mail stores most preferences and all account settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (except the passwords, which are stored in the keychain). Everything else, including all your messages and mailboxes, is stored in ~/Library/Mail/.
Similarly, Address Book (whose data you should back up as well) stores the settings in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist and the data in ~/Library/Application Support/AddresBook/.
Other applications store preferences and data in other places. You may want to ask in the appropriate forums for more information on those.

Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

Error not alloving sign my jar file - help needed

hi guys i am getting the following error while trying to sign the jar file.
unable to sign the jar ; jar.util.zip.zip exception: invalid entry compressed size .
i got this while signing the msbase and msutil of MS jdbc jar files.
what am i suppose to do.
I am unable to understand one more thing. Do i need to have both jdbcodbc.dll library and msbase,msutil, mssqlserver jar files to connect using jdbc or its ok if i only have the jar files. I would appreciate if somebody can help me in this regard.

Restoring Memos from a backup file - Help needed

I lost my memos in a crash and need to restore them from a backup file. The Blackberry Desktop Software has the Memos "Dimmed" and the software says "Dimmed entries are read-only data types and cannot be restored". This makes zero sense.

IO File help needed

Here is my situation, I need to create an object, populate the object with data, and then store the object in a linked list. The object is created in a reference class that I created, and the data for the object is being read in from a .txt file. My problem is that I am opening the link to the .txt file from my driver class, but can't seem to get the readLine() to work in the reference class. Here is what I have:

Since I posted this, I noticed a blurb on the Weblogic site that mentioned Service
Pack 9 fixes any problems with JSSE and SSL from within a Weblogic jsp/servlet.
That service pack also includes an example of using the Weblogic SSL routines
to make outgoing HTTPS connections. So, I'm trying to install service pack 9 and
use the example code included in the distribution. I may end up trying what you
listed below however, because SP 9 seems to be screwing up some of our functionality.
