MTS problem, excessive oracle processes in the OS part.

Hi,
yesterday I changed internet banking connections to MTS (shared server)
So, I changed the system to mix architecture (dedicated & shared both)
DB version is 10.2.0.3
OS version is AIX 5.3.5
Number of dispatchers are 2, each with 250 connections.
Shared_Servers=10
Max_Shared_Servers=40
After 3 hours, I take the following error, no oracle process can be forked after in the OS.
At the time of problem, # of oracle processes in the OS was about 4000,
which is the OS limit for max processes a user can create.
But the number of sessions in the v$session was about 2000.
I also observed that SMON process turned to ZOMBIE (defunct) process.
It seems that MTS opens more oracle processes in the OS or turned some oracle processes to zombie.
But how can it be, since MTS does not create any new oracle processes except shared server process
in the OS.
When I turned back to dedicated server, everything works fine, that is, database sessions and OS oracle prosesses are almost the same.
Thanks,

  • Problem with Oracle Processes - ora_cjq0_ SID and ora_qmnc_ SID

    Hello,
    We are having problem with few Oracle Processes which are failing by themselves and also cosuming high CPU load. Few of the Processes are :
    ora_cjq0_<SID>
    ora_qmnc_<SID>
    I did not find any relevant SAP Note about the above two Processes.
    Could you please throw some light on the above two processes? Will they stop being acitve once their work is done?
    Thanks,
    Subbu

    Hi Subbu,
    You hit the bug 8412426  "WARNING:Could not lower the asynch I/O limit" messages. Check the document, below;
    https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&doctype=PATCH&id=8412426.8&addClickInfo=<data search_text="%22Could%20not%20lower%20the%20asynch%20I/O%20limit%22" search_result_size="16" search_result_count="16" powerview_id="" on_off="off" item_position_in_list="1"/>
    As far as I understand that this bug has no side effect, except filling your trace file, consequently the storage. Oracle suggest upgrade to 11g.
    Best regards,
    Orkun Gedik

    And other results are:
    ps -ef can't find any Oracle process,
    ipcs can't find any Oracle process either.
    the question is how to start the backgroud process manually?
    And how to solve the ora-03113 problem?
    I know it's very complicated. :)
    Roy

    yes. i can follow these steps. all envs are correct, i think.
    i didn't create the database successfully, so when i startup the instance using startup nomount, the error ora-03113 occurs too.
    the bad thing is I can't find any error messages in BACKGROUND_DUMP or other placess.
    How can I handler this?
    Merry Xmas

  • No Oracle processes running Oracles Shared segments not cleaned up

    I've been running into situations where a databases SGA isn't cleaned up from memory but no Oracle processes are running. I always thought that if the Oracle processes die the instance does too, but that doesn't appear to be the case. There's a script that pulls down databases to refresh DB copies. My initial thought was that in certain situations the db isn't shutdown and the files are overwritten, but I have not been able to reproduce it. There's nothing in the Alert.log.... no errors what so ever. In what sort of circumstances would you see a databases SGA still in memory and no Oracle processes running? I can cleanup the shared memory segments.... I'm more concerned about understanding how it is occurring.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Please reread your post with great care.
    Do you see a platform and operating system?
    Do you see a product name and full version number?
    Do you see a description of which commands were executed?
    Good. Because I don't either.
    Post a full and complete description of the environment so we can try to replicate it.

  • Address from outside the oracle process' scope

    Hi,
    Doing research a problem in oracle I've got an memory address which "not exists". I'm not an linux architecture expert so maybe somebody knows simply answer how to recognize this address.
    Oracle 10gR2, Oracle Enterprise Linux 2.6.18-128.el5
      1* select * from x$kqfta where indx=0
    SQL> /

    Let's check it.

    Er, no, address 0x0C49BF20 is within the process:

    region span addresses 0x08048000-0x0CB81FFF and 0x0C49BF20 is within that
    range. The next question is "what is at that memory region" and for that you
    should look at:
    $ less /proc/20067/smapsand find that region.

  • Unable to start Oracle Process Manager from the windows services for OBIEE

    Hi,
    I have OBIEE 11g installed on a 32-bit windows machine. Of the two windows services installed, I am unable to start the Oracle Process Manager. When I try to start it I get the following error:
    Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request  in a timely fashion.
    At the back end, this service is calling the file opmn.exe which is placed at MIDDLEWAREHOME\Oracle_BI1\opmn\bin. On trying to execute this file the error we get is:
    The procedure entry point longjmp could not be located in the dynamic link library orauts.dll
    I have tried replacing the orauts.dll file, but to no avail.
    Please let me know if you have any clue regarding what is to be done.
    Thanks
    Naman

    Hi Naman,
    This error occurs for the following reasons,
    *Path variable is not set properly
    *Multiple Oracle homes exists in the same machine.
    Follow the below steps and let me know if it works,
    1. Select My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties
    2. In the System Properties screen go to Advanced Tab
    3. Click on Environment Variables
    4. In the System Variables section select PATH variable & Click edit
    5. Now you will find that it will contain invalid directories. Remove the incorrect entries. This may happen when you have multiple oracle homes in the same machine
    6. Restart the service.

  • Because you this loading firefox.exe like process from the beginning of the computer with a load from 38 to 42000 kb or like I can solve this problem

    because you this loading firefox.exe like process from the beginning of the computer with a load from 38 to 42000 kb or like I can solve this problem, atualmente when lighting the computer among the processes that are loaded when beginning the computer is a process of name firefox.exe with a load of between 30 and 50000 kb but I don't find to the registered firefox inside the programs to crgar from the beginning when entering for msconfig.exe my operating system is so far windows xp up-to-date sp3 and my firefox is 7.0.1 version in Spanish that is my native language.

    That seems very suspicious. Two suggestions.
    First, try Firefox's Safe Mode. This will let you work around problems with add-ons and perhaps help you identify things to remove so that Firefox goes back to normal.
    I recommend making a backup of your Firefox settings before starting in Safe Mode. To back up Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
    Next, try starting Firefox in Firefox
    [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode]. Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently if you didn't back up.
    Does that work? If so, you may need to disable your add-ons and just bring the most essential ones back to life until you discover the problem one.
    Second thought: malware. You could supplement your usual security scans with these:
    Malwarebytes Anti-malware : http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
    SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/
    HouseCall : http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle 11g - Problem in referring ROWNUM in the SQL

    Hello All,
    We are facing a strange problem with Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0).
    When we issue a query which refers the rownum, it returns a invalid record ( which is not exists in the table).
    The same sql is working fine once we analyze the table
    Note: The same sql is working fine with oracle 10g (Before analyze also).
    The script to reproduce the issue:
    DROP TABLE BusinessEntities;
    CREATE TABLE BusinessEntities
    business_entity_id VARCHAR2(25) PRIMARY KEY,
    business_entity_name VARCHAR2(50) NOT NULL ,
    owner_id VARCHAR2(25) ,
    statutory_detail_id NUMBER ,
    address_id NUMBER NOT NULL
    DROP TABLE BusEntityRoles;
    CREATE TABLE BusEntityRoles
    business_entity_id VARCHAR2(25) NOT NULL,
    role_id VARCHAR2(10) NOT NULL,
    PRIMARY KEY (business_entity_id, role_id)
    INSERT
    INTO businessentities ( business_entity_id , business_entity_name, owner_id , statutory_detail_id , address_id)
    VALUES
    ( 'OWNER', 'OWNER Corporation Ltd', NULL , 1, 1 );
    INSERT
    INTO businessentities ( business_entity_id , business_entity_name, owner_id , statutory_detail_id , address_id)
    VALUES
    ( 'ALL_IN_ALL', 'ALL IN ALL Corporation Ltd', 'OWNER' , 2, 2 );
    INSERT INTO busentityroles(business_entity_id, role_id) VALUES ('TEST' , 'OWNER');
    INSERT INTO busentityroles (business_entity_id,role_id) VALUES ('TEST','VENDOR');
    INSERT INTO busentityroles(business_entity_id, role_id) VALUES ('ALL_IN_ALL' , 'VENDOR');
    SELECT *
    FROM
    (SELECT raw_sql_.business_entity_id, raw_sql_.business_entity_name, raw_sql_.owner_id, raw_sql_.address_id,
    rownum raw_rnum_
    FROM
    (SELECT *
    FROM BusinessEntities
    WHERE (business_entity_id IN
    (SELECT business_entity_id
    FROM BusinessEntities
    WHERE business_entity_id = 'OWNER'
    OR owner_id = 'ALL_IN_ALL'
    AND business_entity_id NOT IN
    (SELECT business_entity_id FROM BusEntityRoles
    ORDER BY business_entity_id ASC
    ) raw_sql_
    WHERE rownum <= 5
    WHERE raw_rnum_ > 0;
    OUTPUT Before Analyzing
    BUSINESS_ENTITY_ID: OWNER
    BUSINESS_ENTITY_NAME: NULL
    OWNER_ID: OWNER
    ADDRESS_ID: NULL
    RAW_RNUM_: 1
    Note: There is no record in the table with the value business_entity_id as 'OWNER' and OWNER_ID as 'OWNER' and the address_id as NULL
    OUTPUT : After analyzed the table Using the below mentioned command
    ANALYZE TABLE "BUSENTITYSUPPLYCHAINROLES" ESTIMATE STATISTICS
    ANALYZE TABLE "BUSINESSENTITIES" ESTIMATE STATISTICS
    BUSINESS_ENTITY_ID: OWNER
    BUSINESS_ENTITY_NAME: OWNER Corporation Ltd
    OWNER_ID: NULL
    ADDRESS_ID: 1
    RAW_RNUM_: 1
    Any clue why Oracle 11g is behaving like this.

    Hi,
    it's a good practice to give aliases for tables, as well as name query blocks. Here it is (and formatted for convinience):
    select --/*+ gather_plan_statistics optimizer_features_enable('10.2.0.4') */
      from (select /*+ qb_name(v2) */
                   raw_sql_.business_entity_id
                  ,raw_sql_.business_entity_name
                  ,raw_sql_.owner_id
                  ,raw_sql_.address_id
                  ,rownum raw_rnum_
              from (select /*+ qb_name(v1) */ *
                      from businessentities b1
                     where (b1.business_entity_id in
                           (select /*+ qb_name(in) */ b2.business_entity_id
                               from businessentities b2
                              where business_entity_id = 'OWNER'
                                 or owner_id = 'ALL_IN_ALL'
                                and business_entity_id not in
                                   (select /*+ qb_name(not_in) */ r.business_entity_id from busentityroles r)))
                     order by business_entity_id asc) raw_sql_
             where rownum <= 5)
    where raw_rnum_ > 0;You are facing some bug - definitely - and, possibly, it is caused by [join elimination|http://optimizermagic.blogspot.com/2008/06/why-are-some-of-tables-in-my-query.html]. As a workaround you should rewrite the query to eliminate unnecessary join manually; or you may include a hint to not eliminate join (it's not documented):
    SQL>
    select -- /*+ gather_plan_statistics optimizer_features_enable('10.2.0.4') */
      from (select /*+ qb_name(v2)  */
                   raw_sql_.business_entity_id
                  ,raw_sql_.business_entity_name
                  ,raw_sql_.owner_id
                  ,raw_sql_.address_id
                  ,rownum raw_rnum_
              from (select /*+ qb_name(v1) no_eliminate_join(b1) */ *
                      from businessentities b1
                     where (b1.business_entity_id in
                           (select /*+ qb_name(in) */ b2.business_entity_id
                               from businessentities b2
                              where business_entity_id = 'OWNER'
                                 or owner_id = 'ALL_IN_ALL'
                                and business_entity_id not in
                                   (select /*+ qb_name(not_in) */ r.business_entity_id from busentityroles r)))
                     order by business_entity_id asc) raw_sql_
             where rownum <= 5)
    20   where raw_rnum_ > 0;

But I get a messagebox with a browse button asking me to "Enter the full pathname for java.exe"

    how to solve this problem?

    hi
    If you are asked to enter the full pathname for java.exe, click Browse and find java.exe. For example, the path might have a name similar to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\bin\java.exe.
