Multiple Arrays for limiting Record Pulling in Main Report

I have created an array in a subreport that pulls all applicable order #'s for a specific period.  The subreport has been placed in the report header of the main report.  In the main report, I have a formula that looks at the order # in the database.  If that order # exists in the array, then I want the main report to pull that order # and the related invoices.  One order # can have more than one invoice.
I've used the above method many times to limit records pulled when I had less than 1000 applicable records.  Now, out of necessity, I'm trying to do this with more than 1000 records, so I have created multiple array strings within the "array" formula.  The "array" formula is working correctly - the data that I see is correct. The problem is with the formula in the main report. This formula is not returning any data - so, basically, the main report formula is saying that no order #'s exist in the array.
Here's my coding for the array (appears to be working fine since the data looks correct):
whileprintingrecords;
shared stringvar array Groups1;
shared stringvar array Groups2;
shared stringvar array Groups3;
numbervar rtc1;
//if pymt receipt date is in the report period, add that order# to the array.
if {BI50_BankTransactions_AR_InvcDt_H.ValueDate} = {?Cash Receipt Period}
then
(redim Groups1[1];
redim Groups2[1];
redim Groups3[1];
rtc1 := 0);
// the code below checks to see if the order ID field is in any of the above-declared arrays...
//if it is it is not added again and rtc1 is not incremented
if not({oehdrhst_sql.ord_no} in Groups1 or {oehdrhst_sql.ord_no} in Groups2 or {oehdrhst_sql.ord_no} in Groups3) then
rtc1 := rtc1 + 1;
if rtc1 <= 1000 then (Redim Preserve Groups1[rtc1]; Groups1[rtc1] := {oehdrhst_sql.ord_no});
if rtc1 in 1001 to 2000 then (Redim Preserve Groups2[rtc1-1000]; Groups2[rtc1-1000] := {oehdrhst_sql.ord_no});
if rtc1 in 2001 to 3000 then (Redim Preserve Groups3[rtc1-2000]; Groups3[rtc1-2000] := {oehdrhst_sql.ord_no});
if rtc1 <= 1000 then Groups1[rtc1]
else if rtc1 in 1001 to 2000 then Groups2[rtc1-1000]
else if rtc1 in 2001 to 3000 then Groups3[rtc1-2000]
Now, here's the code for the formula in the Main Report (please note, for now I'm just trying to generate a "true" or "false" result - so my current results are all "false" which isn't correct)
whileprintingrecords;
shared stringvar array Groups1;
shared stringvar array Groups2;
shared stringvar array Groups3;
({oehdrhst_sql.ord_no} in shared stringvar array Groups1) or
({oehdrhst_sql.ord_no} in shared stringvar array Groups2) or
({oehdrhst_sql.ord_no} in shared stringvar array Groups3);
If I only use one "shared stringvar array", everything works like a charm, but when I add another "shared stringvar array", the formula in my main report stops working.  I've tried changing this code but nothing has worked.  I'm at a loss as to what the problem is.  Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I have resolved this issue.  I guess seeing my coding in a different perspective helped me identify the issue.  The problem was in this section of the code where my redim criteria was incorrect:
"if {BI50_BankTransactions_AR_InvcDt_H.ValueDate} = {?Cash Receipt Period}"
It should be:
"if {BI50_BankTransactions_AR_InvcDt_H.ValueDate} <> {?Cash Receipt Period}"

Also, keep in mind that you only need a sub-report if your table joins are one to many records.  If they are = joins then you don't need a sub-report if the tables are linked in Crystal correctly.

  • How to show multiple values for Unique records in Report

    Here's my question/problem:
    I've joined two tables, one table (TBL1) contains an object id (OBJ_ID) that repeats and the other table (TBL2) contains a date (DT), object type id (OBJ_TYP_ID), and object type description (OBJ_TYP_DES). The tables are joined by an inventory id (INV_ID).
    The OBJ_ID repeats and has a Date value for each record. I want to report an unique OBJ_ID and show each Date for a particular OBJ_ID in multiple Columns.
    An example of the current resultset looks like this:
    OBJ_ID OBJ_TYP_ID OBJ_TYP_DES DATE
    1 1 TYPE1 4/1/2009
    2 1 TYPE1 4/1/2009
    3 1 TYPE1 4/10/2009
    1 2 TYPE2 5/3/2009
    3 1 TYPE1 3/30/2005
    4 1 TYPE1 4/1/2009
    5 1 TYPE1 4/1/2009
    5 2 TYPE2 5/1/2009
    1 1 TYPE1 4/3/2007
    1 1 TYPE1 3/30/2005
    I want to express the resultset like this:
    OBJ_ID OBJ_TYP_ID OBJ_TYPE_DES DATE1 DATE2 DATE3
    1 1 TYPE1 4/1/2009 4/3/2007 3/30/2005
    1 2 TYPE2 5/3/2009
    2 1 TYPE1 4/1/2009
    3 1 TYPE1 4/10/2009 3/30/2005
    4 1 TYPE1 4/1/2009
    5 1 TYPE1 4/1/2009
    5 2 TYPE2 5/1/2009
    What technique is best to use to do this? I know I could create another table and populate the rows/columns by reading data from this query, but is there a better way?

    What technique is best to use to do this? I know I could create another table and populate the rows/columns by reading data from this query, but is there a better way?Absolutely! You seem to have an instictive feeling that creating a separate table just for a query is inefficient. You instinct is 100% correct. Maybe in Oracle 7 there was a reason to do that, but today you can query results of other queries as if they were tables, so temporary tables like you describe are very rarely necessary, let alone convenient.
    What you want to do is pivot the date columns. Here's one way
    WITH     original_query     AS
         SELECT  obj_id
         ,     obj_typ_id
         ,     obj_typ_des
         ,     dt          -- date is not a good column name
         FROM     ...          -- the rest of your original query goes here
    ,     got_rnum     AS
         SELECT     oq.*
         ,     ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  obj_id
                                   ,                    obj_typ_id
                             ,             obj_typ_des
                             ORDER BY        dt     DESC
                           )         AS rnum
         FROM    original_query        oq
    SELECT       obj_id
    ,       obj_typ_id
    ,       obj_typ_des
    ,       MAX (CASE WHEN rnum = 1 THEN dt END)     AS dt1
    ,       MAX (CASE WHEN rnum = 2 THEN dt END)     AS dt2
    ,       MAX (CASE WHEN rnum = 3 THEN dt END)     AS dt3
    ,       MAX (CASE WHEN rnum = 4 THEN dt END)     AS dt4
    ,       MAX (CASE WHEN rnum = 5 THEN dt END)     AS dt5
    FROM       got_rnum
    GROUP BY  obj_id
    ,       obj_typ_id
    ,       obj_typ_des
    ;As you can see, this adds two layers of queries on top of your original query. One of those layers is probably not needed; depending on what you're doing in your original main query, you can probably compute rnum there, and omit the got_rnum sub-query.
    Also, depending on the relationship of obj_id, obj_typ_id and obj_typ_des, some of what I posted above may not be needed but including it won't really hurt.
    If you want to know more about this technique, search for "pivot" or "rows to columns". A <tt>SELECT ... PIVOT ...</tt> keyword was introduced in Oracle 11, but most of what you'll find when you search for "pivot" doesn't assume you have Oracle 11 (nor does the query above require Oracle 11).
    This assumes you know an upper limit (5 in the example above) of dts that can appear in any line of output.

  • How to make a common parameter for two subreports in the main report.

    Hi,
    I have a crystal report which has 2 subreports in it. Both the subreports have the same code and I need to create a parameter for Project Cost in both the subreports for filtering the data.
    When i create the same parameter in both the subreports, i see two parameters with same name on my prompt page while refreshing the report. however I just want 1 parameter on my prompt page and data should get filtered in both the reports.
    Can anyone please suggest something, How can I do that? is there a way for sharing same parameter between two subreports?
    Thanks!
    Neha.

    hi Neha,
    here's how to do this:
    1) create a new parameter with the same name on the main report
    2) right click on your first subreport and choose Change Subreport Links
    3) in the Field to Link To list drag over your new main report parameter
    4) open the Subreport Parameter Field to Use select menu and choose your subreport parameter
    5) repeat steps for the 2nd subreport
    now you'll only get prompted once.
    cheers,
    jamie

  • Disabling the dropdown LOV for existing records in SQL updateable report

    Hi All -
    I have a SQL updateable report which has 3 columns. One of the column is a named-LOV. This report also provides the functionality of inserting new rows.
    Is there a way to only show the named-LOV dropdown list for only the new records to be inserted i.e. when we click on "Add Row". For existing records, I donot want to show the dropdown.
    Please provide your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    -Seenu

    Thanks Robert -
    I guess I didn't put my question right in my earlier posting.
    Basically this report provides updates and inserts both (Its a SQL Updateable report)
    One of the column is a Named-LOV (select list dropdown). For the existing records shown in this report, this select list should be disabled. But for the new records while inserting a new row into this report, the select list dropdown should be shown to the user with an option to choose values from selectlist.
    Thanks,
    -Seenu

  • List View Showing Multiple Entries for Certain Records

    I've been updating my large mp3 library with album art in order to make the list view more useful and fun to look at. With just a handful of records however I've noticed that they're getting split into multiple entries. For instance, Album X shows up twice, with one entry displaying only song 1 and the other entry displaying the rest of the songs.
    I've looked hard at the tags but I don't see any difference. All the records in question were ripped using iTunes so they're not coming from different sources either.
    Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated! Cheers.

    Thanks again; I tried the solution this morning and it fixes the problem. I've marked the thread as such. Unfortunately it's a lot of fiddly updating, but hey, it's better than no workaround at all.

  • Need help with a SQL qurey that returns multiple rows for one record?

    I have the following query where I use a CASE WHEN clause to determine the date of a shift that begins with "FRLO" on day1 - day14 of the pay period. It works great if a schedule record contains one day that begins "FRLO", but if more than one day is "FRLO" then it only returns the first day it finds and not the others. Is there some way to get the query to return a ron for every day 1 - 14 that begins "FRLO"? System if Oracle 11G
    Order of the results is not important as this is part of a larger query that orders the results.

    Do you have the opportunity to change the data model to have one day per row ? It would make this easier to get this result without the need for a 14-way CASE or UNION.
    If not...
    The case statement will return as soon as it matches one of the conditions. Since you want a match when any column in the row starts with FRLO you can use a UNION ALL treating each column as a separate result. There may be more efficient ways to do this, but here is one way:
    Select S.Empid,       Pp.Startpp Startdate,       Null Starttime,       Null Endtime,       8 Hours,       0 Minutes
      From Schedules S       Join  Payperiods Pp On Pp.Periodid = S.Periodid

  • Multiple rows for each record

    I need to fit 20 columns to page width and to do so, I need to print each record on 2 rows. It's something like:
    Amt A Desc A Amt B Desc B ...
    Amt C Desc C Amt D Desc D ...
    999999 XXXXXX 999999 XXXXXXX
    999999 XXXXXX 999999 XXXXXXX
    999999 XXXXXX 999999 XXXXXXX
    999999 XXXXXX 999999 XXXXXXX
    Is this possible using Reports Builder?
    Mike

    If you use the Report Wizard, the wizard will automatically split the record in two (or more) lines if the line exceeds the paper width.
    You can do it manually too, of course, and place the fields on two lines instead of one.

  • SSRS 2012 - Multiple values for filtering (shown while editing in Report Builder) disappear in Report Manager view

    Hi,
    I have a multiple value parameter, with four specified default values (integers). When opening my report in Edit mode in the Report
    Builder, and then pressing "run", I can see the default parameters in the upper section on the screen, and they are acting fine on the report. However, when opening the report from the Report
    Manager (by double clicking it from there), the default values have disappeared and I have to fill them in manually. However, the values are not 100% forgotten, because when opening the "manage" section using the drop down
    menu in the Report Manager, my default values are there, shown in the list.
    Did I do something wrong? Is this a bug? What can I do to solve this?
    Nb.:
    I'm using SSRS 2012
    Dataset created by the query "select parameterID from table group by parameterID"
    The full set of parameters are collected by using the above dataset as input for "get values from a query" in "available values"
    The default values are set by using the option "specify values" in "default values"
    Hope one of you can help me out here!
    Sietske
    Nb.: For the time being I'm now using a hard coded workaround by adding "where parameterID ='4' or parameterID = '15'" to my select query.

    Hi Sietske,
    According to your description, there are several suggestions for your reference:
    Based on the workaround query that “where parameterID ='4' or parameterID = '15'”, it seems that the parameterID and parameter is a string type field. So please make sure the default value of the parameter is Text data type, like below:
    When you go to the Parameters tab after clicking the Manage option over the drop-down list, please enable ‘Has Default’ checkbox, and make sure the values in the ‘Default Value’ drop-down list are correct, then click Apply option.
    If the report works well when you open the report in Report Builder, please click Save or (Ctrl+S) button to save the report to report server.
    If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Multiple Lines for one Business Partner on Agng Report

    Hi all,
    From version 8.8 of SAP Business One (and PL 08 which I have tested) on the aging report I see, for the same Business Partner, more than one lines with different amounts. The sum of those amounts make the real balance of the BP so i think that what it does is to categorize in some way the transactions.
    I cannot figure out why it does that.
    Any help?
    Thanks
    Gerasimos

    Hi,
    Can you confirm whether :
    1) The BP Code appearing in the Aging is having the same case (Upper or lower) or they are different?
    2) Can you also confirm whether Bp Code has entries where control account is different?
    In the meantime, I will check some documentation/Note if available on the query.
    Kind Regards,
    Jitin

  • Multiple lines for same app on daily trend report?

    Hey All,
    This is my first app and my first time reading the reports so pardon me if I am confused. I noticed that there are several lines (about 20) on my trend report all for the same App. From reading about the trend reports it seemed like each app was supposed to have only 1 line. Can anyone tell me whats going on? The only thing I can think of is that I switched my primary category so maybe while the app was transitioning strange things happened. Thanks.

    Typical behaviour is that it'll start to drop off a bit. You'll then probably get a boost at the first update assuming your release date gets bumped. Big boosts come from being featured but for most developers that remains a dream.
    Basically it's all about visibility. When you're on the first page of your category people are a lot more likely to buy than when you're on the 10th.

  • Filter Oldest Entry for Each Record

    Post Author: Stephanie
    CA Forum: Desktop Intelligence Reporting
    I have a file that has multiple rows for each record, each with a different date. I would like to filter the report so that only the oldest entry for each record appears. Any suggestions? The report looks like this:
    Record 1     01/01/07
    Record 1     03/01/07
    Record 1     05/01/07
    Record 2     03/01/07
    Record 2     05/01/07
    Record 2     07/01/07
    I would like the report to show this:
    Record 1     01/01/07
    Record 2     03/01/07
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the suggestion, but I had already tried that and I could not get it to work. I made a variable =Min(<Date>). When I removed the other date field, my report did look like this:
    Record 1     01/01/07
    Record 2     03/01/07
    The problem is that there are other fields in the entry that I need to display as well. Let me rephrase what my original file looks like.
    Record 1     01/01/07     Product A
    Record 1     03/01/07     Product H
    Record 1     05/01/07     Product K
    Record 2     03/01/07     Product Z
    Record 2     05/01/07     Product G
    Record 2     07/01/07     Product H
    I want the result to look like this:
    Record 1     01/01/07     Product A
    Record 2     03/01/07     Product Z
    When I use the min formula, I can't figure out a way to get the product information from the original record as well.

    Hi,
    Â You can use common shared variables to share data between a sub report and the main report.
    What Kathryn has suggested is correct but you must make sure that the sub report is run first and then the main report is executed.
    Â Hope this helps
    Â Cheers

  • How can we pass a formula field of Main report to SubRepor's Parameter. in CryastlReport 11

    Post Author: Nikhil
    CA Forum: General
    Hi
    Crystal Report version : 11.0.0.1282 Standard
    There is MainReport1. Other is Subreport1
    Scenario :
    MainReport1 having paramater PdateMain1 as dateTime.
    SubReport1 having parameter dateSub1 ,dateSub2.
    datesub1 is used for One datasource1 (DataSource- XML -from webApplication)  , dateSub2 is used for datasource2 (DataSource-SQl Procedure ) ( This is requirement as i need to used two datasource )
    Value of datesub1 and datesub1 is same (it is created automatical as it is part of SQLProcedure and XML Query ) but get prompted twice for the same valuewhich  is not desirable. so for that i have created main report and calling this subreport in main report.
    Now i want's to pass PdataMain1 to Parameter datesub1  and datesub2. I am able to pass  PdataMain1 to datesub1.  through Change Sub report link ( Option on right click of report).and it is working fine,
    Problem :
    But Subreport link Menu does not allow to bind PdateMain1 to datesub2 as it is allready bind with datasub2.
    to overcome this i created one Formula field in main report as fMaindate1 which copy date from Parameter PdateMain1.and bind ( link) the  fMaindate1 to datesub2.  when i link this , subreport does not display any thing at all. It it a limitation of crystal report or i am missing some thing , Is it like that we can pass formula of ,main report to subreport Paramater in Crystal 11 Standard , if we can anyone please Provide help on this.
    This can be easily achieve through application programming but my need to get this done in Report itself.Thanks
