Multiple "Columns" in SVG/FLASH Charts?

I need to create a pie chart with three items...two items are derived from one column in the database, while the last item is derived from a different column. I've been playing around with this for the past couple days.
Because I know so little about this stuff, my last resort was to create hidden items, with a SQL process to update the time "before header" These work...but I can't figure out how to get these three items in my Pie Chart!!!
Here are my three sql statements I need to get into a pie chart:
Item 1: "Total Required"
SELECT COUNT(PRODUCT)
FROM PRODUCT_DATA
WHERE PRODUCT='NO'
AND PRODUCT_TYPE = 'HOME'
Item 2: "Update Over 10YRS"
SELECT COUNT(PRODUCT_DATE)
FROM PRODUCT_DATA
WHERE PRODUCT_DATE <= TO_DATE('30-MAR-1999', 'DD-MON-YYYY')
AND PRODUCT_TYPE='HOME'
Item 3: "Update < 10Yrs"
SELECT COUNT(PRODUCT_DATE)
FROM PRODUCT_DATA
WHERE PRODUCT_DATE >= TO_DATE('30-MAR-1999', 'DD-MON-YYYY')
AND PRODUCT_TYPE='HOME'
(Ideally, I'd want to replace '30-Mar-1999' with TO_DATE(TRUNC(SYSDATE)-10yrs, 'DD-MON-YYYY'), but haven't thought too much on that yet!
Related to this...the information above was imported from and Excel Spreadsheet. The tables imported just fine...but there was a page with several charts/tables which were all different formulas
I've created a computation to update the three items...but couldn't figure out how to put these in the pie chart:
P5_TOTAL_REQUIRED
P5_TOTAL_OVER_10YRS
P5_TOTAL_UNDER_10YRS
Appreciate any help!!!

Hi
I did read somewhere on the Adobe site that they weren't supporting SVG any more - perhaps it was just a version thing. Not sure, as I use the Flash or HTML stuff now and that's ok for our needs.
I haven't seen Aniseed Balls for years - not sure they even do them any more :( I wasn't that into Ken Dodd (surprised he's still going!!), but do think he had a good singing voice for a comedian (same goes for Des O'Connor and Harry Secombe). Wimpy burgers didn't do much for me - I've always prefered Burger King (especially their Spicy Bean Burgers!). As for the Carry On films, I think they were either very good or very bad (Carry On Screaming was my favourite) - they did try to revive them recently without much success.
I do wonder at some of the questions - there are definitely the same ones that crop up from time to time. Strangely, though, its the ones that turn up in a clump - several questions from different users all about the same thing - that get me (I'm convinced it's the same user!). My brain doesn't work in the right way to write a book - give me a problem and I'll try to solve it but ask me to tell you what I know about Apex (or anything for that matter) and I couldn't! Perhaps, you'll just have to ask questions in the right order ;)
I tend to learn things by examples rather than books - most of which I just use as a reference. Occasionally, I will go on a course - the last one was, strangely enough, a SQL course, everything from server installation to optimising statements (which was, by far, the most useful course I'd attended). I have also done training but tend to get frustrated when trainees can't pick up something that I think is a doddle! So, all in all, answering questions on this forum is probably best suited to my "talents"

  • How to customize flash chart fonts?

    Hi everyone,
I have a flash chart as a result of a query that returns more than 20 rows (columns, in the flash chart case). The name of this columns are in horitzontal, and I have a problem, these names are too long to see them correctly.
If I am not explaining the problem correctly, it would be something like this:
    http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/8426/barrasab2.png
Notice that is very difficult to understand the name of the columns.
I'd like to "rotate" the names, for example, 45º, and see them in diagonal. I don't know do this in APEX, the only thing I found is to change the size of the font but it's not a solution for me.
    Can you help me please?
    Thank you very much
    sergicloser

    sergicloser,
You can rotate the chart label by entering the rotation degrees in Label Rotation attributes under Display Settings section. You can also omit the labels intervals of 1 or 2 in Omit Label Interval attribute to display better.

  • How to link Excel Chart with multiple columns dynamically?

    Hi all,
I have one problem. I have an excel chart which has to read data from multiple columns for it's X-axis values (time stamps) and the same number of values for it's Y-axis from multiple columns. See figure attached.
Now, you can do this by manually assigning values by holding control key to tell the chart that data from many columns is continued from the first column. i.e, a long data is distributed along may columns. This is done very easily manually.
Now, how to do it at runtime through LabVIEW 8.0?
Although, I have done it through labview when there where only two columns, A and B streching up to any length. But, now to save space we are dumping into many columns in the same page and want the chart plot that data as we dump it.
It is tough since I don't know how to assign SourceData of the chart through labview.
I have attached chart's SourceData picture.
Hope you all can solve my problem.
    The Y-axis values are: =(good!$B$30:$B$70,good!$D$30:$D$70,good!$F$30:$F$70,good!$H$30:$H$70,good!$B$71:$B$140,good!$D$71:$D$140,good!$F$71:$F$140,good!$H$71:$H$140,good!$B$141:$B$189)
good is the name of the file.
The X- axis values are: =(good!$A$30:$A$70,good!$C$30:$C$70,good!$E$30:$E$70,good!$G$30:$G$70,good!$A$71:$A$140,good!$C$71:$C$140,good!$E$71:$E$140,good!$G$71:$G$140,good!$A$141:$A$189)
See the columns vary from A to F.

  • Use flash charts from multiple base URLs

My APEX apps are hosted by a shared service provider who uses a front end proxy. Following the instructions in this forum, I was able to get flash charts to work by substituting my client URL for #HOST#.
    Example, Change:
    <embed src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#flashchart/
    #CHART_TYPE#.swf?XMLFile=#HOST#apex_util.flash?p=&APP_ID.:5:&APP_SESSION.:FL
    OW_FLASH_CHART_R#REGION_ID#"
    to
    <embed src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#flashchart/#CHART_TYPE#.swf?XMLFile=
    http://mydomain.hostingcompany.com/pls/apex/apex_util.flash?p=&APP_ID.:5:&APP
    _SESSION.:FLOW_FLASH_CHART_R#REGION_ID# "
I changed this base url in multiple locations in the chart source code and the charts now work.
    THE PROBLEM
Users access the site via a public domain http://www.xyz.com. In order to get the charts to work I then need to change #HOST# to http://www.xyz.com/pls/apex. Then they no longer work when accessing via http://mydomain.hostingcompany.com/pls/apex.
Is there some way to get the charts to work irrespective of which path users take to get to the site?
    ANOTHER PROBLEM
Though the above fix works for stand alone flash charts it does not work for the charts in interactive reports or the sample charts displayed when using the chart builder wizard in the application builder.
Is there somewhere to change in order to get the sample charts in the create chart wizard in application builder and/or the charts in interactive reports?

    Hello,
Take a look at this thread -

  • Flash chart performance issue with multiple series

    Hi,
We have a problem with the performace of a line graph which has multiple series.
I have set up an example application here:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=37504:1
The application contains two charts. The 'Mulltiple Series' chart has twelve series behind it and allows the user to include mutiple series data. The other chart has just one series.
The single series chart takes only a couple of seconds to render, however the mutiple series chart takes around 10 seconds even when no additional series have been selected. Using Firebug I have observed that the apex_util.flash procedure is taking around 8 seconds to generate the XML, and it includes null data values for the series that aren't selected.
My question is how can I make each series conditional, such that no data is included in the XML if the series returns no rows?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew
Have you considered modifying your chart to use a series with the "Query source type" of "Function returning SQL Query"
    Have a look at
Re: Flash chart - multiple series - no display when some series empty
My response on that thread may help. I'd be interested to know if this approach improves the performance.

  • 2D Column Flash Chart - Series Showing Zero Values in Chart

    Hi,
I have created a 2D Column Flash Chart - with 6 series with different coloring of bars..I have obtained the result as I wanted.
Now the problem is the distance between one series to another series is filled up with value 0.
Anybody please help me remove the 0 value in chart which is coming between series.
    Thanks
    JP

    Hello,
I guess you must have data that reflect the 0 value, no?
In your query can you do WHERE value <> 0, so they don't get taken into account or is it the purpose to keep them in?
    Thanks.

  • Problems with Range 2D Column Flash Chart

I am having three problems with the Range 2D Column Flash Chart.
    1. Series Name: I have two series one named AAA the other BBB. AAA returns two values AAA_MIN and AAA_MAX. BBB returns two values BBB_MIN and BBB_MAX. The Legend shows two series both labeled AAA.
    2. Show Hints: The Hint Labels are all AAA even when looking at a BBB value. And the Values show no precision, 0.03 shows as 0.
    3. Y Axis Scale not showing precision. My values range from 0.01 to 0.11 and the Y Axis Scale simply shows all 0

  • Reverting back to SVG from flash charts

Running apex 3.0 + XE on XP
Is there a simple way to revert my flash charts to svg format charts ? I used a link to convert my svg charts to flash charts. However, I understand flash charts cannot be copied into powerpoint or word files which is a huge drawback.
Should I recreate all my charts again in svg format or can I use any other simple method.
[or] Is there a way to enable copy function in flash charts ?
    Thanks in advance.

Go into the develop panel on your image. On the left hand side in the panel there will be a history list. Simply click on the item right below "convert to grayscale" and you will be back straight to to where you where right before you converted to grayscale.

  • Flash chart and multiple Y-Axis

    Hi,
I have to create a flash chart with a bar and a line graphic in 1 graphic output
The left Y-axis should show the values of the bar (i.e. 0 - 20.000) and the right Y-axis should show the percetage value of the line graphic (0 - 100).
How can I scale the different values and order it th left or right like EXCEL (APEX 4.1)
    Please help me
    Regards,
    Siegwin

    Hi Siegwin,
thanks for providing access to your workspace. The reason that that second line is not behaving as you expect is because that series of the chart is not associated with the extra Y-Axis. As I mentioned in my previous posting, the extra Y-axis only gets associated with the second series of your chart. In your case, you're actually looking to associate series 2 and 4 with the extra Y-axis. In order to achieve that behaviour you could do one of the following:
*1*. Hard-code the data in your custom XML region, ensuring you update the XML tags for the 4th series to look as follows:
<series name="BX old failurre" type="Line" color="0xDBDC25" y_axis="extra_y_axis_1">instead of how it is currently generated for your chart on Page 1:
    <series name="BX old failurre" type="Line" color="0xDBDC25" >
NOTE: the extra Y-axis will only be associated with the series where the attribute y_axis="extra_y_axis_1" is included.
This option is not ideal, because you are hard-coding data in the chart, which won't be updated to reflect any changes to the underlying data.
*2*. Split your chart out in to two separate charts instead of attempting to represent them on one, as done on Page 2 of your application. NOTE: the first chart is using some custom XML to set the maximum value of the extra series to 100.
*3*. Generate your own <data> tags, to ensure that the extra Y-axis is associated with your selected series. This would require doing something similar to the Thresholds example here: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:35 - where you are basically overriding the #DATA# substitution string for your chart and replacing it with your own <data> tags.
In a future release, we'll look at exposing options on the Chart Attributes page to allow for the setting of attributes specifically for the extra Y-Axis, and also allow for the specification of which series the extra Y-axis should be associated with. In the meantime, I think Option 2 above is your easiest option.

    Hilary

  • Apex 3.1 and Custom Flash Charts

I am having difficulty getting to the point where my custom flash charts can be displayed. I have Oracle 10.2, over OHS to Apex 3.1. I cannot post any of the config files or code here because it is a different network, so I realize it will be hard to troubleshoot; and I apologize in advance.
I would use the canned Flash charts, but my application displays data much like MS Outlook's multi-user calendar does. The chart has to be color coded, similar to Outlook's Busy vs Tentative etc. It has to show multiple events at various times, including overlapping times. And it has to handle schedules for multiple people. Lastly, there are of course gaps in the schedule, because no day is comprised entirely of meetings. That is why I felt I had to do it manually.
I wrote XML/SVG code to do this previously, with HTML DB 1.5, and it worked fine. But Flash is the way we are going now, and I can't use SVG anymore. (Besides, Adobe says SVG will no longer be supported next year.)
I followed the thread of April 07 in which MAdelfio posted suggestions, but I can't get it right. I did everything listed except I never included the <data>...</data> code, because I am not sure where it goes. I have a custom written stored proc, exactly like in the thread, and I pass it all the args that apex_util.flash wants. I get a malformed XML message when I try to display the chart. That seems like it should be a very straight forward error, but I can't figure out where to look. I have been using 1.5 for about a year, and last month upgraded to 3.1.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? Or, failing that, any simple examples that display Flash charts in which the code was generated by a stored procedure?
    Thanks,
    Michael

I'm sorry about not being able to provide all the info you need. Since it is on a totally separate network, with no access to the outside world, the only way I can do it is to print and retype everything. So I was hoping that someone could just provide suggestions as to where to look rather than providing answers. I understand that it is impossible for you to solve my problems, especially when you have been given no real information. And I don't want to keep you guessing -- I'd love to be able to just show everything and ask for help; I just can't.
Anyway, I am trying to use only those facilities provided with Apex. I do not have any 3rd party tools except for Perl. I am using the standard shockwave flash plugin for Mozilla. The way I did it with SVG was to create a stored procedure that generated an XML file. I put a button on the page that ran the stored proc and then redisplayed the page, with an HTML region. That region included an iframe, where the source was a perl script that merely regurgitated the SVG script (for some reason I could not get the iframe to accept XML as a source, so I created send_svg.pl, which merely outputted the named SVG file).
The format I followed was in this thread: Re: Custom Flash Charts
I even created a replacement proc for APEX_UTIL.FLASH with the exact output as the thread, knowing that even if it worked I'd still have a ton of work making it produce my chart. But once I can get the infrastructure right, I feel I can write the flash XML.
Maybe the easiest thing is to scan that thread I referenced and tell me if it is still accurate? That is, could anything have changed in 3.0.1, or should it still work? It is possible, maybe even likely, that I made a mistake retyping all that stuff, so maybe just verifying that it SHOULD work is a good start.
    Thanks again, and sorry again.

  • Help - SVG Line Chart - ORA-20001 line_chart error Parse error ORA-00911

    Gurus,
    Need help.
I am trying to plat multiple series in a SVG line chart but am repeatedly getting line_chart error eventhough SQL queries work perfectly in sql workshop/sqlplus etc. How do I get past this error.
Sample queries I am using to plot line chart are
    select link, col1, value from (select null link, col1, col2 value from xy);
    select link, col1, value from (select null link, col1, col3 value from xy);
    xy is a table with three number columns col1, col2 & col3.
    Thanks in advance

Try taking the semicolon ";" off the end of the SELECT statements.

  • Flash Chart Width

    Hello,
I would like to dynamically set the width of a flash chart, as the number of columns I display may vary a lot.
Is there a way to do that ?
Actually, I set a fixed width in the chart attributes, and I imagine that it is used in the #WIDTH# tag in the region source.
    Christophe

I have the same problem with flash chart. In fact, no matter what I set for the chart width, it always displays up to 15 bars. 15 must be a default but I don't know where I can change it.
In SVG chart, I can change the data point limit (default is also 15) to something larger. How can I do that in flash chart? Ideally, the chart should automatically scale the bar width based on the number of data points.

  • Flash Chart Legend

I have built a 2D Line Flash chart with 6 series. My problem is that the legend shows the word "Value". Does anyone know how to make the legend display the series name instead.
    Jeff

    Varad,
Thank you for your reply but your answer does not appear to be the solution I need. This SQL statement below used in a SVG Chart yields a legend using the series name. The same SQL statemnet used in a Flash Chart yields "Value" as the series name. Why?
    <pre>
    SELECT NULL link,
to_char (minipay_detail_vw.event_dt, 'YYYY, MM') AS label,
    sum (minipay_detail_vw.contract_pay_amt) AS value
    FROM [email protected]
    WHERE minipay_detail_vw.object_class_cd = '018'
    AND to_char (minipay_detail_vw.event_dt, 'YYYYMM') <
    to_char (sysdate, 'YYYYMM')
    AND financial_organization_cd IN
    ('1650', '1655', '1660', '1665', '1670')
    AND (:p337_fy = '%null%' OR minipay_detail_vw.fiscal_year = :p337_fy)
GROUP BY to_char (minipay_detail_vw.event_dt, 'YYYY, MM')
ORDER BY to_char (minipay_detail_vw.event_dt, 'YYYY, MM')

  • Flash Chart Legend Problem

    Hi,
Im having a problem with my flash chart legends in Apex3.0.
I have changed the name of the Series to what i want to appear in my legend - however the legend just shows "Value" for all my Series.
Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hello,
I need a legend like this
    No of Clicks('000)
If i give l" No of Clicks('000)" as column alias, chart says Error :No chart data available.
If i give "No of Clicks('000')" or "No of Clicks(''000)" as column alias in the query, it displays the correct legend..
Would anybody tell me how to show the legend like this
    No of Clicks('000)

  • Flash Chart Legend Not In Capitals

I have created a flash chart based upon a function returning sql. The chart displays fine but the legend column names for some reason are converted to initial capitals from all originally being in capitals, eg "SERIES" now equals "Series". I really need the legend to display all capitals as it is in the sql.
    For example:
The function returns a string similar to this .......
    select NULL as "LINK",
    WEEK as "LABEL",
    VALUE1 as "VALUE1,
    VALUE2 as "VALUE2"
    from MY_TABLE
    order by WEEK
When the flash chart is rendered on the page the legend displays the two series values as "Value1" and "Value2". Somehow the chart ignores the capital case of the column names and applies initial capitals only over riding the original case.
There appears to be no over ride for the legend case so where is it coming from ? It shouldn't make any difference but the chart type is a "3D column" style. Not sure if this is a XML question or maybe a Flash Player issue.
    Regards,
    Jack.

    I had the same problem.
    To fix it:
    1. Find a font that is strictly caps. I used Felix Titling.
    2. Edit the flash chart & under the chart attributes set USe Custom XML to yes.
    3. Scroll down almost to the bottom and find the legend tag.
    4. In the font tag for the legend substitute the font you chose.
This will capitalize ALL the letters in the legend.
I don't know how to selectively capitalize letters.
