Multiple Fiscal Calendars Displayed in Subject Area Time Dimension

Hi all,
Thanks for taking the time to review my post.
Environment
Oracle BI Applications 7.9.6 Financial Analytics
Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10
Query
The Time dimension on my Subject Areas (Financial Analytics) are showing more period data than I expected.
I have configured one Enterprise Calendar (WPG_Calendar) that I set in the DAC parameters - $$GBL_CALENDAR_ID (WPG_Calendar~Month) and $$GBL_DATASOURCE_NUM_ID (4). The warehouse Enterprise Calendar table W_ENT_PERIOD_D is populating with the periods as configured in EBS for that calendar(Jan-09, Feb-0, Mar-09, etc). I noticed that the Multiple Fiscal W_MCAL_PERIOD_D table is also been populated with the Enterprise Calendar data PLUS, the Seeded EBS calendar (JEBE_MONTH_VAT) and a generated Calendar that appears to be a 5-4-5-4 Calendar (Jan-01-09, Jan-02-09, Jan-03-09, etc). The trouble is these W_MCAL_PERIOD_D periods and dates are all coming through in my Time dimensions and make it confusing for the Answers Users when choosing a Time dimension.
Also, for columns W_CURRENT_MCAL_PERIOD_CODE, W_CURRENT_MCAL_QTR_CODE, W_CURRENT_MCAL_YEAR_CODE there are rows with Current, Previous and Next populated that span these different periods as you would expect, but I'm concerned these return multiple rows for Filters Current Fiscal Quater, Current Fiscal Year.
Funnily enough, W_CURRENT_MCAL_MONTH_CODE has nothing populated (NULLs for all rows).
Your comments are most welcome.
Kind Regards,
Gary.

The filtering of the calendar can be done directly on the logical layer.
for the logical dimension "Dim - Date Fiscal Calendar", Logical Table Source "Dim_W_MCAL_PERIOD_D_Fiscal_Period"
set the content as :
"Oracle Data Warehouse".Catalog.dbo.Dim_W_MCAL_PERIOD_D_Fiscal_Period.MCAL_CAL_WID = VALUEOF("MY_MCAL_WID")
and setup the repository variable MY_MCAL_WID to match with your calendar wid.
If your calendar depends on any context then you can use session variable instead of repository variable

  • Multiple Fiscal Calendar in a single context

    Hi,
I know that for each context we can only have one PAS database, as a result, only a single Fiscal Calendar definition for a each context.
My question is: there is any way of creating a workaround for this? I need to have in a single context KPI's that use different fiscal calendar's
Thanks in advance for the tips
    Regards
    Pedro

    Hi Bob,
so, if I understand correctly there is only two options:
1 - Have a single PAS database with a single fiscal calendar and use that in a single Context. The user's will have the option to then create specific reports for the metrics that should be displayed using a different Fiscal (using for that the different options in time that already exist in the reports component).
2 - Create an individual PAS database for each Fiscal and have a different context for each of those databases.
    Is like this?
If you think strategically, that shouldn't change the usefullness of Strategy Management, since the status of objectives and KPIs will still be driven off your current numbers, whatever the fiscal calendar.
Yes, but for instance if we have KPI's that use Fiscal form Jan to Dec and other from Jul to Jun, when we select yearly data for 2009 for example, the information displayed for both is not the "same". For KPI1 is from Jul 2009 to Jun 2010 when it should be Jan 2009 to Dec 2009 (this for a database with Fiscal Calendar starting at "Jul"). Is not like this?
PS: It's strange than no one have this problem in the past. Is not normal to have a customer that want to see in the same Scorecard/Context, KPI's that use different Fiscal calendar?
    Thanks in advance

  • E71x calendar displays 2 different meeting times

I have an e71x with an unusual problem. Meeting often have two different times in the editing mode.  Here is an example:
I select a meeting for November 18 (this is a real example from the past) and it shows 1pm to 5pm.  The meeting time has changed, so I want to edit it. It repeats weekly.  When I select Edit>This occurance only the meeting time is 1pm to 5pm.   When I select Edit>All occurances the meeting time is 3pm to 4pm.
As it turns out, 3pm to 4pm is the new meeting time, so obviously I tried to edit this entry before.  But on the Calendar View only the 1pm time shows up.
This is crazy!  Why would it even show 2 times at all?
I'd like the Calendar to show only 1 time.  Is there any way to correct this?

Maybe I am missing something here in your question, but you are asking that if you schedule a meeting in your calendar for two hours, you want it only to display as a one hour meeting?
No, the BB calendar will display the amount of time you designate... if you book it for two hours it will display for two hours. If you schedule it for one hour, your calendar will display a one hour time block.
If you want it only to display a one hour time block, schedule the meeting for one hour.

  • Multiple Date Fields (Fact Table) - Linking with Time Dimension

I have a fact table that has multiple date columns.
I can make a time dimension, but it has to be joined to a particular date column. This becomes difficult because of the limit in having multiple date fields reference one time dimension. I can see possibly
creating a date table which contains all dates, link to fact as well as time dimension table. I am trying to better visualize the table layout on this one. Or are there possibily better ways of looking at this senerio
    Any idea's

Figured this one out; going to use one time dimension - what looking too much into the details in regard to this scenerio

  • Can multiple photos be displayed at the same time in  a slideshow?

    Hi folks,
I don't actually have iPhoto '11, I'd like to get a little info before I go out and get it. I really like photo slide shows to music, it's the thing I love most about my first gen Apple TV. The slide show is awesome, how it displays many photos at once, spins them around, layers them, etc. Is there any way to replicate that behavior with an iPhoto slide show?
    Thanks for your time!
    -Adam vonNieda

    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie, on every Mac sold, as is iDVD.
    Others, in order of price:
    PhotoPresenter $29
    PhotoToMovie $49.95
    PulpMotion $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Express $199
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs.
However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Express is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • I am having trouble with the calendar displaying incorrect dates and times

I am currently receiving calendar invites that i know are displaying incorrectly in my calendar and i am unsure how to fix this.

Yes its all correct. I have just discovered that a separate calendar was set up with incorrect settings from the originator. I have checked all my settings and I'm good to go. thanks for your response

  • Multiple Rollover Slidelets displaying at the same time.

I have slides with multiple rollover slidelets.  Each slidelet has its own audio file added and the "Stop Slide Audio" is checked.
The Rollover Action is set to On Click = "No Action"  On Rollover = "No Action".   Stick Slidelet is unchecked.
All works as expected.  Until you start randomly clicking on the rollover hotspots.  Eventually, if you rapidly click like a test monkey from hotspot to hotspot, you can get the slidelet to appear and it will not go away (clicking the close X does nothing as well).  If you roll over other hotspots you will have both slidelets visible and playing audio at the same time.  The audio of the "stuck" slidelet continues to play even if you go to the next slide.
Here is a recording of an example (no audio) but you'll see what I'm talking about. http://envolvemedia.adobeconnect.com/rolloverissue/
Has anyone experienced this? or have a workaround.  I submitted it to Adobe as well.

This is very strange, difficult to guess the cause... never had such an issue. Normally when the object to which the audio is attached disappears the audio stops. So in your case going to a next slide should stop the audio of the previous slide. Same with object audio.
Do you have the different audio clips (one per slide) in the Library? Could you try to delete the audio on the slide and drag it again from the Library to see if you have the same result? And what happens when you attach the audio clip to an object on the slide (you can create a totally transparent rectangle with no stroke that will not be visible to attach the audio).

  • Multiple Facts in single subject area

    Hi everyone,
Is there an optimal way to get multiple facts into a single subject area? The only way I've managed to get multiple facts into a single subject area is to go the route of creating hierarchies for all dimensions, setting up all the content levels for both the fact and dimension tables and finally creating aggregated measures for all the fact tables. However, when you setup these different hierarchies and content levels, the queries which are generated tend to get fairly nasty and seem to be slow. Another pesky issue is that I've had to create pseudo columns for all facts, so that if a report is using one dimension from FACT A and one dimension from FACT B, then you have to include this pseudo column from both facts so that OBIEE knows which tables are involved in the query. Without including these pseudo columns in the report, the OBIEE engine gets a little confused and puts up an error.
I'd prefer to find a better way to do the multiple fact implementation without having to have the massive queries and pseudo columns, but I'm not sure what the other options out there are. Anyone know the best way to accomplish this?
    -Joe

    Hi Wildmight,
    You are exactly right.
Here's an example of what I'm trying to accomplish. We have a TIME SHEET fact table which has things like a work date, an employee ID, a work order number and the hours which were worked. The work orders can be against one or more pieces of equipment. There is a second fact table which models the one to many relationship between work orders and equipment.
The model would look a little like this:
Join on WORK ORDER NUMBER Join on WORK ORDER NUMBER
TIME SHEET FACT <-----------------------------------------------WORK ORDER Dimension ----------------------------------------------> WORK ORDER EQUIPMENT FACT
We would like to create a report that shows the number of hours from the time sheets fact grouped by the piece of equipment from the work order equipment fact. I've been able to setup this report using the method I described in my first post, but like I said, the generated SQL is massive and seems somewhat unnecessary.
I think I'd have to say the grains of the facts are different since they providing to different pieces of information.
I haven't done too much multiple LTS experimentation. I'm working from a single data warehouse source which should be robust enough to handle any reporting requirements. Even though I know OBIEE can do some clever combining of tables using the LTS; if data sets need to be consolidated, I'm trying to keep that work in the database via ETLs in order to keep the work that OBIEE has to do down to a minimum.

  • Restict to subject area

    Hi OBIEE Experts,
I come to back new requirement in obiee 10g, Kindly share me your valuable inputs.
I have three subject areas likes , A,B,C.
A and B both are Adhoc reports But C Static reports.
All users try to open static subject area , we need to restrict C subject area open access means any one try to click this subject area , we need to display message like ( This is not adhoc report this is static report subject area ) it is possible in obiee 10g.
Note: If am going to hide this subject area static report all not working, We need to display this subject area but if any one try to open this subject it will throw error like above mention.
    Hope you understand my requirement.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
In the presentation layer in RPD you can set Permissions.
Double click on the Presentation subject area folder and then in General you can find permissions.
    OR
Give your message in descriptions and when the cursor is moved across then message appears but it will be displayed.
    Hope this helped/ answered.

  • Multiple Subject Areas

Somewhat new so please forgive me if the question is simple (if it is, please point me in the right direction). I've looked through the documentation and this forum, but have not found what I'm looking for yet.
I am trying to get a single worksheet to pull data from multiple subject areas (two or more fact tables). I would prefer to not join fact tables together, and so I have not created the joins between the folders (fact tables) because I thought the performance would generally be horrible. (example of functionality I'm looking for: I want to combine Sales and Inventory data on one worksheet).
I have kind of tried complex folders, but I would prefer to have the tool generate the SQL if possible because it won't just be me creating reports, and if it's possible, I'd like to avoid coding the SQL myself every time I want to join subject areas.
I also looked at Custom Folders, but my understanding is that they are used primarily to join 1 fact table with multiple dimensional tables, but not multiple fact tables (at least that was the example in the documentation).
My current setup is a 2 tier environment, with just Disco Admin and Disco Desktop on top of 10g. We don't have AS yet so I can't test anything that way.
I appreciate any comments in advance.
    Nate

You should try both Complex folders as well as custom folders and see which gives you better performance. Discoverer SQL optimizations for example apply only on Complex folders and not on simple folders.
If you define the joins between the two tables, you can still use items from them in your Discoverer report without having to create a complex folder on them.
And finally, you can always create a view or materialized view and use that MV in your Discoverer query.

  • Setup time dimension in some different fiscal calendars

I have the different fiscal calendars.
Then, I wanna compare the current month fiscal amount and the previous month fiscal amount with AGO function.
    The calendars are like below.
Calendar A : fiscal month start April
Calendar B : fiscal month start January
In this case, how should I define the chronological key in the time dimension?
For example, I try the below setup in the calendar period hierarchy.
    Year 2008
    Half 1H 2H
    Quarter 1Q 2Q 3Q 4Q
    Month 1Q = {Apr-08 in CAL_A, May-08 in CAL_A, Jul-08 in CAL_A, Jan-08 in CAL_B, Feb-08 in CAL_B, Mar-08 in CAL_B}
    and some.
In this examle, the number of MONTH level members are 24.
Then I make a column for sort.
    The sort number is below.
    For CAL_A
    Month SortNo.
    Apr-08 1
    May-08 2
    Jun-08 3
    Jul-08 4
    Aug-08 5
    Sep-08 6
    Oct-08 7
    Nor-08 8
    Dec-08 9
    Jan-09 10
    Feb-09 11
    Mar-09 12
    For CAL_B
    Month SortNo.
    Jan-09 13
    Feb-09 14
    Mar-09 15
    Apr-08 16
    May-08 17
    Jun-08 18
    Jul-08 19
    Aug-08 20
    Sep-08 21
    Oct-08 22
    Nor-08 23
    Dec-08 24
In this case, if I try to get the previous month of Jan-09 in CAL_B with AGO function, the system get Mar-09 for CAL_A. Because the record of Mar-09 for CAL_A is 12 in SortNo. column.
As far as possible, I wanna use AGO function.
Does anyone have good ider for this problem?

    Hi,
I guess it's easier to setup two different time dimensions; one for calendar A and one for calendar B. Use aliases in the Physical Layer.

  • Historical Reporting With Multiple Subject Areas

    Hi All,
I am working on to decide the best way to create repository. I do have a requirement from my client that they need to see both Current and Historical Reporting via OBIEE. I am keeping Type 2 SCD. My model consists of about 30 fact tables - each of them represents a business process/event.
    Following are my options:
    1) One Subejct Area to keep current/historical reporting. Here the joins would be based on PK/FK relationships with Effective Start and Effective End dates. There is a flag in all tables to find the most updated record. Users can use the flag to find the most updated record or use Effective Start and Effective End dates to go point in time.
    2) Create two Subject Areas - Current and Historical reporting. Current one will include the flag logic to get the most updated record in RPD
    3) Create multiple Subject Areas for each Fact table and use Combining Multiple Subject Area approach to join Subject Areas. Additionally, create one Subject Area for Historical Reporting (that will have all the tables in one SA)
I am thinking of going ahead with option 3) This will have Subject Areas for all logical facts (for Current reporting) and one Subject Area for Historical reporting.
Is this a standard design? Any inputs?

You should try both Complex folders as well as custom folders and see which gives you better performance. Discoverer SQL optimizations for example apply only on Complex folders and not on simple folders.
If you define the joins between the two tables, you can still use items from them in your Discoverer report without having to create a complex folder on them.

  • Dashboard Prompt to filter multiple Subject Areas (in a Combined Analysis)

I have a Combined Analysis where I am combining multiple Subject Areas. I want to add this report to a dashboard to use a dashboard prompt to filter by the Year.
The problem I have is because the 'Year' value in each subject area has a different Column Formula ("Close Date"."Calendar Year" and "- Custom Number/Integer (Custom Object 2)".INDEXED_NUM_0)) I'm unable to have a single 'Year' prompt filter both Column Formulas.
I have it currently working by creating two dashboard prompts - one for each subject area - that each ask for the Year to filter by.
Is there a way to have a single prompt for Year and somehow have that filter both subject area's 'Year' value?

I have tried a bit with no luck.
In the Dashboard Prompt on that 'Year' filter I set the Presentation Variable to 'FILTER_YEAR'.
I then set the filter in the report to be Equal to a Presentation Variable with the Variable Expr set to 'FILTER_YEAR'.
When I run the report and enter the filter year it doesn't bring back any data for that report.
Anybody have experience using the Presentation Variables?
    Thanks

  • How to Display Column which is not in Subject area.

    Hello Everyone,
I have one report requirement where i have to show one column which is not in subject area.
e.g. report requirement is like where i need columns from 2 different subject areas.
    1 from PO & 2nd from Invoice.
now i have PO related details in Invoice Subject area, but only one column is missing.
rite now i m capturing that column related details in separate report and from there i am passing values to Main report.
But what if i want to display that column in the main report.
Please let me know your inputs..
    Thanks in advance..

You can do this in 10g by using the Advanced tab in Answers. Scroll down to the part of this link titled, "Against two Subject Areas (Multiple Subject Areas)."

  • Outlook 2013 calendar displays wrong time on iPhone calendar

I would like to start by saying this is definitely NOT a time zone issue.  I have researched the internet and apple and have not been able to find a solution as of yet.  This is also not restricted to my phone.  We have our work calendar in Outlook 2013.  When it syncs to my iPhone 5c and my boss' iPhone 4s it displays the time of the event exactly 7 hours earlier.  I have checked the Outlook time zone and the iPhone time zone (in both places, general and the mail/contacts/calendar settings).  They are all displayed in the current time zone.  I have selected and deselected the auto setting for the time zone as well.  Nothing has worked!  I'm wondering if it has something to do with an update.  It was working just fine for years and now all of a sudden displays the wrong time.  PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

    Hi Cath,
Yes, it is a by default settings to delete meeting requests after it is responded. As what Vasil says, we can change the following Outlook settings to leave the meeting request message in Inbox:
    1. Click File > Options.
    2. In Mail option, on Send messages part, uncheck Delete meeting requests and notifications from Inbox after responding option.
    3. Click OK to save the settings.
Then check whether the issue persists.
