Multiple libraries into "one main folder" ?

Do second libraries need to be maintained separately? I'm guessing there's only one set of Lightroom preferences that applies to all libraries, but what about data base back ups? Do they have to be set up separately in each library?
Also, can 2 different libraries both go into one main folder?
Thanks for your help,
Tim

You can have mixed sources for Libraries and you can name your Libraries what you want, just so you keep the extension, .lrdb, and yws they can coexist in the same folder.

  • How do I collapse multiple libraries into one library?

I have a couple of dozen libraries, created over multiple versions of FCP, and now I have equivalent copies of events and resources strewn across multiple library files across three drives.  Plus, FCP has been automatically creating new instances of projects and storing them in files named with dates; I can't find the latest version to open it!
How do I collapse all these libraries into one?  Hopefully not by moving event by event from one to another!  It takes a couple of minutes per event and resource; the program keeps wanting to "reload" resources after each move.

It looks like you updated your libraries multiple times. Yes, the only way to consolidate them is to drag the events from each library into a master library.

  • Add multiple libraries to one album

Can you add multiple libraries that have been previously downloaded to one album?

In Revel, libraries are where images are truly stored.  Albums are just simple containers for organization and sharing.  For any given library, an image can belong to a number of albums.  And if you delete an album, images remain safe in the main library.
It sounds like you want to consolidate images from multiple libraries into one location.  Currently, Revel does not allow one to copy or move images between libraries.  The only thing I can recommend is to import your images again into the library you where you want to consolidate.  If the images exist only in other Revel libraries, you will need to export them first, and then re-import them to the desired library.
If I didn't quite speak to your needs, please let me know so I can try to offer better help.

  • Merging of multiple aperture libraries into one master library

Over the years, due to limited disk space on my Mac, I ended up having now 3 aperture libraries in 3 separate external hard drive, totaling between he 3 libraries over 2TB of photo storage. I just purchased an additional 4TB external drive (my 4th external hard drive from Lacie) to put ALL my separate Aperture libraries into ONE (1) master Aperture library. I would like to know if anyone could help me with a set of step by step instructions to MERGE my 3 separate Aperture libraries into ONE (1) MASTER library on my newly purchased 4TB external drive. I've looked online and found several articles dealing with merging libraries from multiple computers. I tried them all and was NOT able to do what I would like to do. PLEASE, if any of you have done what I would love to do or knows how to do it, I would appreciate your help. A step by step instructions regarding how to do it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much! Robert

    Thanks Kieby,
This is what I did: 1.) File/Swith to Library/Other/New  To create a new Aperture library which I called MasterAperture Library. The new library was created on my new 4TB external driver.
2.) I then CLOSED Aperture and re-opened it using my default Aperture library located on my Picture folder (Aperture Library).
3.) I did: File/Export/Project as new Library. I chose my external hard drive with the filename: MAsterAperture Library, EXPORT.
The first time I did that nothing happened, I still had an empty MasterAperture Library files without any pictures.
Then I did the same thing thing, except this time, I high lighted my first Projects and went down to my items on my albums and then CTL-H so everthing would be high lighted (ALl my projects and all my albums). Then I did step 3 to the MasterAperture Library and I was able to get the MasterAperture Library as an image copy of the content of the Aperture Library located on my Pictures folder.
Then another problem came up, when I tried to replicateduplicate the same steps outlined above to merge my other 2 remaining libraries, I could NOT do so because the process, at that time, told me that the file MasterAperture Library already exists and if I were to continue, the content of MasterAperture Library will be replaced. Of course this is not wantt. I would like to be able to MERGE the contents of the 2 or 3 remaining libraries that I have currently located in different external drive/locations into the file MasterAperture Library located on my 4TB external drive, and do so, if possible, without too many duplications (if possible, because if I have to remove duplicated projects/albums/photos later, I am willing to do so)!. By the way, I've read the Aperture userguide more than once and have tried the approaches suggested in the guide without succes yet. Thanks again for your kind help. Regards, Bob

  • Multiple contact lists: how do I merge them into one main list?

    Hi there
PLEASE HELP! I travel between two African countries regurlarly, and every time I do, I have to swap simcards (I do not roam). But, everytime I do, I find a new contact list has been created somehow in my Contacts.
I have about 7 entries now per contact as a result of this, and I'm desperate to merge them all into one main list. I'm also updating contact details, but have trouble saving them as my phone does not allow "duplicate names" (an option I selected), thus I have to delete all the other silly copies before I can change/update a contact. I did this because otherwise I don't know which contact (of the seven) has the updated info, forcing me to delete the others so I can keep track!
    Please help!
1.) how do I merge the contact lists into one main list?
2.) how do I delete the other lists?
    Thank you!

  • How do I scan multiple pages into one pdf file using the PIXMA MG7520 on Windows 8.0? Please help!

I recently received a PIXMA MG7520 for a gift.  It works great with my lenovo laptop/tablet running on Windos 8.0.  The one drawback to the HP all-in-one that it replaced is it does not have an ADF.  That being said, there must be some way to scan multiple pages into one pdf file.  I need help figuring thing out.  Thanks in advance!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi mdtolbert54,
There is a program that comes with the printer called the IJ Scan Utility that can assist you with scanning multiple pages into a single PDF document.  To do this, please follow these steps:
    1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key.
    2. Start typing IJ SCAN UTILITY. The search window opens as you type. Once the IJ SCAN UTILITY is displayed, please select and open it.
    3. In the Canon IJ Scan Utility window that opens, click SETTINGS.... in the bottom right of the window. The Settings dialog box appears.
    4. Click the DOCUMENT SCAN option on the left pane of the window.
    5. In the SAVE SETTINGS section of the window, you will select the save format and location of the document you are about to scan.
a.) In the FILE NAME field, specify the name you would like to give the file. By default the filename will begin with IMG; you can remove IMG and change it to whatever you would like to name the file.
b.) In the DATA FORMAT field, use the drop-down arrow to select the PDF (Multiple Pages) option.
c.) In the SAVE IN field, please navigate to the area where you would like the file to be saved once it is scanned in. By default, the file will be saved in the MY DOCUMENTS folder.
    6. Once all settings have been selected, click the OK button at the bottom of the window to save the changes. The IJ Scan Utility main screen appears.
    7. Click the DOCUMENT button. Scanning starts. Click the CANCEL button to cancel scanning if needed. Scanned items are saved in previously selected folder location specified in the SETTINGS... window.
If you find that you need advanced scanning options such as adjusting resolution, brightness, contrast, saturation, color balance, etc. in addition to the options selected above, please click on the SCANGEAR button on the IJ Scan Utility Main screen, then adjust the items as necessary.
Once the items above are set for document scanning, in the future, you will only need to launch the IJ Scan Utility, then press the DOCUMENT button to perform the scan (unless you want to make changes to the settings).
    Hope this helps!

  • House Cleaning - Combining Three Existing Libraries Into One

We have one existing iTunes account on our personal computer (Windows XP) and want to keep it that way but we want to do some housecleaning to maximize our iTunes/iPod experiences.
XP allows us to have three different users (myself, my wife and our son), each user has their own iTunes Music Library again, all under one account - mine. We'd like to do the following and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    1. Combine all libraries into one (mine) and then everyone would go there for purchases, ripping CDs and synching and listening while we're at the computer.
    2. My wife has a first generation Shuffle and my son a first generation Mini that we'd like to clean out (reset I guess) and allow them to rebuild their own iPod libraries out of this new combined library that synch only when and to what they want them to.
    3. I'd like to add my own New iPod Nano that also would only synch only when and to what I want it to.
Agian, any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
    Dell Dimension 4300   Windows XP

There isn't any way to combine multiple ITL files into one.
I assume this is the case, you each have an ITL file in your Windows profile:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660
But what you CAN do is consolidate each library to a shared folder.
And either leave each other notes when you've bought new stuff, so it can get added to each library; or invest in some 3rd-party software like TuneRanger that can monitor the shared folder and add it to your library for you.
You're probably still going to have to look through yourfiles to see what duplicates have been bought.
I haven't shelled out the money for TuneRanger, but it looks iek it has some nice features.

  • Combining multiple HDs into one big 'un

So I see where one can make multiple libraries and one can have multiple devices, multiple accounts etc etc... but here's my question. I have an external HD that is holding all my media and is running out of room... Is it possible to "daisy chain" some drives together (i.e. LaCie d2 Quadras, both at 320 GB) and have iTunes read this as one 640 GB drive? In essence so that when I open iTunes and proceed to play content, I don't have to switch out to get it to shuffle music around... I'll prolly end up buying a TB drive but I wanted to ask some of the more enlightened folk on the boards... 'preciate any info!
    Cheers!

If you go into the iTunes preferences, you can set the location of the iTunes library. What isn't immediately apparent to most people is that this setting only sets the location of FUTURE additions to your library. Anything already in the library will remain where it is and continue to be accessed from that location.
So to answer your question, you can add an additional drive, point iTunes to a location on the new drive, and everything already in your library will stay on your current external drive. Anything new will be added to the new drive.
Once you get your BIG drive that can hold everything, you can change the location to that drive. NOW use the consolidate command which will then copy everything NOT in the current iTunes library location to that location. In other words, anything stored outside the currently set iTunes folder location will then be copied in there and the library updated to reflect the new location.
You can not delete the stuff off the other drives if you wish.
    Cheers,
    Patrick

  • Multiple Libraries on one computer

I want to store more music in iTunes than my iPod has room for (original iPod). I want to use one library for music that I don't want on my iPod and the other for the music I want to sync. I also want to be able to move music back and forth between the them.
How do I store music in multiple libraries on one computer without making separate computer user accounts or using the playlist work around?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, apple-rules

Yes, I am referring to the auto syncing of playlists. Not all of my music is assigned to playlists and I don't want to create them - too many songs.
As I mentioned in my original post:
I want to store more music in iTunes than my iPod has room for (original iPod). I want to use one library for music that I don't want on my iPod and the other for the music I want to sync. I also want to be able to move music back and forth between the them.
I want to be able to store music in iTunes and play that music in iTunes without having them downloaded to my iPod. It would be nice to have a Library in iTunes that can be separate from the iPod stuff.
I think I found a work around (#12). Until I get a better solution I am going to create a master folder to which I will move all my music that I do not want syncing to my iPod. Then, I will do a manual sync and exclude that folder.
    Thanks everyone.

  • Multiple libraries for one ipod and match?

Ok, so... I've got about 1500 songs purchased via itunes, and own about 3500 CDs, which I'm in the process of adding to my library.  All but about 50 of the discs were already ripped years ago, and I'm just copying the backup mp3s onto my new external drive after the last one failed.  Anyhow, I just got itunes Match and I'm wondering if I made a mistake in doing so.  Is there a way to have songs from multiple libraries on my ipod?  Due to the sheer volume of music (and other thigns) I own, I'm wondering if I should just make a comedy library, a blues library, a synthpop library, a metal one, a rock & roll one, an oldies one and so on.  If I do that, will I be relegated to having to decide what style of music I want on my ipod at any given time, or is there a way for me to load different items from multiple libraries onto the thing?
I'm halfway tempted to just delete my entire library from itunes and just be SUPER picky about what tracks I add in order to be able to get under the 25K limit.  As is, right now I've got 21411 items in my library, over 20000 of which are in match, but it keeps crashing on step 3 right now.  As is, I already know I need to re-mp3 some of the discs since when I did them originally they were less than 96K (oddly, I'm finding it's mainly on my "oldies" discs like the American Graffiti soundtrack), and that doens't bug me, but the idea of having to go through song by song and add only what I want is one I'm not too fond of and that I'd like to avoid if at all possible.
I'm really digging match, but not so much now that I realized there's a hard limit to the number of songs available.  I don't think Apple is used to folks like me who live & breathe music and attend well over 100 concerts in the average year.
Thanks for anyone who's read all of my rambling, and any of y'all who can provide me a bit of guidance!
    -Ann

This would be making is WAY less difficult. This is a MUCH needed feature in iTunes that they should add. As a DJ I absolutely hate having all my music in one library. Certain genres, like Electronic music, deserve to be in their own library. I would like to be able to hit the Music icon on my iPod and have it ask me what library of music I would like to access.
This would allow siblings to share one iPod and not have to combine all of their music together. Or you could make a library of music with no explicicit music on it (and passcode it) so that you don't have to worry about kids having access to your explicit material if you let them use your iPod.
You can already make multiple libraries in iTunes, why not just add the obvious next step and be able to add multiple libraries onto one iPod.

  • How do I add multiple images into one file?

I'm sure this is something that's been covered in another post (or even in the help portal) but I think my wording in my search terms are not correct or... I don't know, because I just can't find what I'm looking for.
I want to know how to add multiple images into one file/one image, both horizontally and/or vertically. To give you an idea of what I mean, check out :
    http://www.best10apps.com/apps/comic-story,531596060.html
If you scroll down, you'll see a heading entitled : Screenshots of Comic Story. Notice how there's 3 pictures (divided by borders). 2 of those pictures are side by side, and 1 of them is below the first 2 pictures.
I want to know how to add different pictures/images and put them into one picture.

One way is to create template PSD files and populate them with your images using Photoshops scripts.
Photo Collage Toolkit UPDATED June 12, added Picture Package Support via PasteImageRoll and BatchPicturePackage scripts.
The package includes four simple rules to follow when making Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.
There are eleven scripts in this package they provide the following functions:
TestCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to test a Photo Collage Template while you are making it with Photoshop.
CollageTemplateBuilder.jsx - Can build Templates compatible with this toolkit's scripts.
LayerToAlphaChan.jsx - Used to convert a Prototype Image Layer stack into a template document.
InteractivePopulateCollage.jsx - Used to interactively populate Any Photo Collage template. Offers most user control inserting pictures and text.
ReplaceCollageImage.jsx - use to replace a populated collage image Smart Object layer with an other image correctly resized and positioned.
ChangeTextSize.jsx - This script can be used to change Image stamps text size when the size used by the populating did not work well.
PopulateCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to Automatically populate a Photo Collage template and leave the populated copy open in Photoshop.
BatchOneImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Collage templates that only have one image inserted. The Collage or Image may be stamped with text.
BatchMultiImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with images in a source image folder. Easier to use than the interactive script. Saved collages can be tweaked.
BatchPicturePackage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with an image in a source image folder
PasteImageRoll.jsx - Paste Images into a document to be print on roll paper.

  • Concatenate multiple records into one single record

    Hello everyone,
Can anyone guide me how to merge multiple records into one single record
like......... I am getting the data in the file like
    aaaaa/bbbbbbb/ccccccccccc/dddddddddddd/eee
    ffffff/gggg/hhhhhhhhhhhhhh
    /123/4567/55555/99999999/kaoabfa/eee
    fffff/kkkkkkkk/llllllllllllllllllllllll
when i use gui_upload I am getting the data into the internal table in the above format.
My main intension is to split the record at / to multiple lines and dowload it into another file.
What i am planning to do is... if the line does not start with / then i want to concatenate the multiple lines into single line and then split it into multiple records. Can anyone guide me how to achieve this.

    Yes, it should work.
    In my example
    Loop at itab.
    concatenate i_text itab into i_text.
    endloop.
You change that loop for the loop of your internal table with the file records
So if you have this three records
    'aaaa/bbb/ccc'
    '/dddd/efg'
    'hijk/lmn'
i_text will look like this at the end
    'aaaa/bbb/ccc/dddd/efghijk/lmn'
then in this part of the code
    split i_text at '/' into table itab2.
itab2 will have the records looking like this
    aaaa
    bbb
    ccc
    dddd
    efghijk
    lmn'

  • Move multiple events into one album

    Hi,
I am trying to tidy up our photos on iPhoto.
Is there a fast, easy way to move multiple 'Events' into one 'Folder'
    For example:
We have all of our photos from our honeymoon in Europe saved as seperate 'Events' According to the location. It was a 3 month trip so there are a lot of 'Events' or locations. Is there a way i can select all of them and put them into the Honeymoon 'folder' without them all merging into one big album?
I want to keep them as separate events within the folder so we can remember where they were taken.
I have been trying to drag the 'Event' over to the Honeymoon 'Folder' but instead of just going straight in there it creates a new unnamed folder on the left panel, and then i have to drag the event up to the honeymoon folder and delete the unnamed folder. It is proving rather time consuming and i have over 12000 photos to sort.
Any help would be great. Simple terms please!!
    Thanks

lf you drag an event onto a folder in the left hand pane the photos in that Event will be added to a new album in that folder with the same name as the Event. .

  • Items from multiple folders into one?

Any programs that can move thing's out of multiple folders into one?
I'm thinking in particular iPhoto, roll folders with images inside, want to move them all out and into one folder. I would rather not go through each one and move manually as could take a while, especially if there are say hundreds of folders each with photos inside i want to move into one.
Must be a program or something that will do it?

    I find one:

I've never tested it and it has no reviews. Proceed at your own risk.

  • In iPhoto, can I file individual events from one year into one main event withouthout m muddling them up?ing them up

In iPhoto, can I file individual events from one year into one main event without muddling them up?

Perhaps I misunderstood you. You want to have a hierarchy
    Folder: 2000
->Contains Event for January, February, etc
    Folder 2001
-> Contains Event for January, February etc
That sort of thing? Well with Events, no you can't. Yes you can do that with Albums, but not Events.
That said, it's a pretty limited way of organising your photos - in fact you might as well just use folders in the Finder. You can find the photos from any year, month, day with the Calendar tool. Simply click on the Search icon on the bottom, then on the the wee drop down and select the calendar tool.
Want the photos from a particular range - say, June 11 1999 to September 30 2001? Then a Smart Album will do that.
But the problem is that it's often hard to remember the year/month something happened. Did we go to Disney in 1997 or 98? There are other more useful ways that make your snaps more searchable.
Here's a canned answer that I offer that suggests some of the richer organising possibilities of iPhoto. It might spark something.
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a  typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John  to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.
