Multiple list data in SSRS reports.

Dear All,
I have develop simple SSRS report using SharePoint 2010 list.
While creating SSRS report it's not allowing to select multiple list.
How we can take multiple list data in SSRS report just like JOIN query?

By default, a data region (table) may only reference one dataset,
not two, making the combination of two datasets into a single table not possible in SQL Server 2008 R2. But, in production, sites using: dataviews, reports based on SharePoint List connection type, reports based
on SQL Views of the SharePoint database and sites using bespoke/third-party charting web parts, all of these Report Mechanism are available for displaying the multiple list data.

Nope SSRS doesnt have write back options. Its just a reporting tool
However one thing you can do is to link a webpage from SSRS report and do the changes through it
SSRS has the ability to navigate to web page through which you can capture any data inputs from users and save it to your db.

Hi RH,
You can add two textbox at the top outside the tablix and using expression to get the parameter value use have selected to display in the textbox as blew:
TextBox1: =Parameters!Date.Value
TextBox2: =Parameters!To.Value
For Multiple value parameter you can use the expression like : =Join(Parameters!Date.Value,",")
You can rename the two textbox' name in the properties as "Date" and "To" then the two textboxs will display like belkow in the CSV report:

01/01/2015     01/31/2015
ID   EmpFirstName    EmpLastName   Location

Hi Sowjanya,
Seems like you have given the expression in quotes, so it is getting displayed as a string.
please remove the quotes and place a "equal to" infront of the expression as shown below.
=FORMAT(Parameters!ReportParameter3.Value,"dd-MMM-yyyy") , replace the parameter w.r.t to your parameter
value
if you want to display date format along with custom text then expression should be like below.
="MSBU Resource Dashboard " &
FORMAT(Parameters!ReportParameter3.Value,"dd-MMM-yyyy")

Based on my research, it’s not supported that making Unpivot data from a sharepoint list currently.In general, we can use PIVOT and UNPIVOT relational operators to change a table-valued expression into another table.

Multiple column selection in ssrs report

Hi all
I am developing one report
which would be based on column selection combo
what i want to achieve...
i will use Store procedure
and in my report i want multi select parameter called @Column_To_Select
i want available values for combobox as total column names which is return by store procedure
and when i select column1 is should only display column1 from tablix

You cant alter dataset like this. metadata has to be constant for SSRS report to work properly.
I think your requirement should be implemented as follows. Always bring all columns from query inside dataset. Then in your report container (tablix/matrix) set an expression for columns visibility property to show only when select parameter value has the
column name.
The expression would be like below for hidden property each column
=IIF(InStr("," & Join(Parameters!Columnnames.Value,",") & ",",",ColumnName,")>0,False,True)

How to display week wise data in ssrs report

Hi,
I want my report to fetch data from Financial year starting to till date.
i.e Apr 2013 to till date.
till date means Today() minus 8 days and @Fromdate includes last week of march also
i.e Mar 29 2013 to Apr 4 2013 - this week data will also be included
So data from Mar 29 2013 - Apr 4 2013 to today() minus 8 days need to be displayed
How to fetch data for this.
Pls advise.The column corresponding to this looks like "2013-11-01 ~~ 2013 - 11- 07"

Hi, Well your requirement is very vague. I would probably have you create a calendar table according to your requirements and use it in your dataset. If you could better explain this with an example we could help you a lot better.

I have create SSRS report get data using web service. When i run the web service methods its gives me result instantly, But when i run the report it takes lot time to load data in SSRS report. some times in SharePoint page it shows time out error.
Could you please tell me why SSRS report lots of time to load data.

How to select column dynamically with sharepoint list as data source in ssrs report

I am creating reports from SharePoint list but i have requirements to select the column name dynamically with SharePoint list as data source. I didn't find any way of doing this..

Sorry for the delay.
According to the current description, I understand that you want to specify column name in dataset query designer dynamically when using SharePoint list data source.
Based on my research, this is not supported by default. As a workaround, you can use XML data source. The XML content can be embedded directly within the query. This lets you use the expression capabilities within the processing engine to build queries and
data dynamically within the report. And it can be used for retrieving XML data directly from an external data source, passing it using parameters, and embedding it within the query.

How to run the same SSRS report multiple times, each time with a different parameter value?

Hi,
I have an SSRS report that produces a list of invoices for a single supplier (so supplier is a parameter specified at runtime). The report is based on a stored procedure in SQL. I would like to make things easier and instead of going through all suppliers
one by one, I want to have a single action, which produces separate reports, per supplier, for all suppliers that have an outstanding invoice (so not all suppliers on the system as a whole but all suppliers that are within the result set of the stored procedure).
I assume this would mean first executing the stored procedure to find all suppliers that have invoices at the time. And then running the report multiple times, once for each supplier, where the supplier value is used as the parameter every time. ideally
this would open separate webpages with a single report per page. (I am creating a button in another software, which is simply launching iexplore.exe and passing a
fixed SSRS report URL).
What would be required? I have SQL 2012 and I am building this in Report Builder 3.0.

Yes thats a much better option. Its very easy to generate such a report in SSRS. You dont need a parameter
in that case but just needs to add Supplier as a grouping field in the tablix. Then add other columns and groups if required. Select option set page break after each instance of the group for first grouping (ie based on supplier field). Then report will render
with one page per supplier. On exporting to excel also each supplier data goes to a different tab

SSAS report action to pass multi-value list of dimention key values to a SSRS report parameter

This was originally posted on StackOverflow and suggested I try here as well.
I want to create a report action in an SSAS OLAP cube that generates a list of formatted values to pass into an SSRS report parameter that accepts a multi-valued parameter list. This would be applied at the
cell level in the SSAS action. I have found a solution that gets me most of the way:

if I run the action from a cell that is at or below the dimension attribute I am generating the list for, in this case,
Account Key.
Below is a link to a screen capture (unable to embed it due to lack of reputation) showing the action and dimension structure in Excel. The action works as long as I run it at the
Account Key level or below. I want to be able to run it at higher levels, such as
Account Major and still have it generate all then related Account Key values for the SSRS report parameter. Running it at the higher
Account Major level does not trigger the report to run.

I was unable to get the suggested answer with the "Exists" function to work. To better demonstrate this issue, I have recreated it using the Adventure Works Cube.
I will focus on the Customer dimension, specifically the Customer and

Below are the steps to re-create the issue.
Connect to the cube in Excel
Add dimension Customer -> More Fields -> Customer
Add measure Internet Sales -> Internet Sales Amount
Right-click Internet Sales Amount cell, select "Additional Actions" -> "Test Report Action" and see customer values created for URL
When the action is ran at this point with Customer, I see the values created in the URL shown message box (since there is no SSRS report server at location specified).
Now the part I'm unable to resolve
Remove the Customer dimension and add Customer -> Demographic -> Education
Right-click Internet Sales Amount cell, select "Additional Actions" -> "Test Report Action"
Nothing happens. If I ran the action on the cell next to "Bachelors", I would want it to build up all the list of all the "Customers" that make up the "Bachelors" in the
Customer dimension as part of the report parameter. If no attributes where used in the cube from the
Customer dimension for that cell, then I would like it to return "All Customers", or something similar to show that all customers are included in the aggregations.
I am not too MDX savvy, thus far. I think I need to somehow join the
Customers to Internet Sales Amount in the Generate function portion. I have tried several different combinations of the
Customer dimension and Internet Sales Amount, along with various functions to see if I could get this to work with no success. I am hoping that someone more knowledgeable the me will have a solution. If you need more details,
please ask and I will provide them.

Thanks for you help with this. This morning I found a workaround. Below describes what that is.
What I ended up doing was getting a list of values from a degenerate dimension that I could use to pass to SSRS to get a list of transactions for a report. Below is how I did this, in relation to the Adventure Works cube using the degenerate dimension
Internet Order Details.

The way I was going about it before was flawed, as I was trying to get a list of the granular values from each dimension used to build the measure value and pass each one of those as separate parameters. I just needed to set something unique for each fact
measure transaction that represents the value and uses that in a query parameter for the SSRS report.

List of SQL tables and attributes used in SSRS reports

I have around 450-500 reports deployed in SSRS reporting server.
All these reports are built on SQL from multiple databases, and these databases are having unnecessary tables and attributes.
My requirement is to clean the unused tables and attributes from the databases. For this, I need the list of SQL tables and attributes used in these 450-500 SSRS reports.
Is there any way to get this data?

According to your description, you want to get a list of the tables and attributes used in all reports.
In your scenario, you can query the ReportServer.dbo.Catalog table to get Report name, data source name, dataset name, and query used in the dataset with query below:

Param2 is the parameter which will display in the report have done the deduplication, check the "Allow Multiple values" and then Specify the available value and default value using below expression:

Add the filter and preview.

Project Server User Security + Custom SSRS Reports Project List Parameter

Hello, below is the issue / challenge scenario:
I'mnt. We have to remove the smaller chunk of queries that are hitting the published database to get the user security permissions. I'm using custom SSRS reports that are pulling data from Reporting database and other custom financial SQL DB's. I need to
figure out a solution to get the list of accessible projects for a particluar user using PSI. I did find this technet article that addresses my issue in a way

the above solution means that I need to change many of my existing report queries (going to published DB)

Hello,
The ReadProjectStatus PSI method defaults to Project for the Project Type, the value is 0. If you want other project types is gets slightly more complicated as you have to have multiple data sets for the ReadProjectStatus call, one for each project type
- each time specifying the default projType. For example for Projects (0) the query is:

You have to repeat this for all project types you want to include, create a hidden parameter for each project type then create a parameter to join them up and use the combined parameter to filter the data sets that get the data from the Reporting
database.

SSRS report with tabular model - MDX query to filter parameter data based on Tuple value.

Hello Everyone,
I am working on SSRS report in which a tabular model is being used as a backend.
I want to filter the report parameters which are dependent to other parameters. Like, country, state, and cities drop downs.
All are multi-select parameters. I am using MDX queries to filter the parameters data.
Based on selected one or more countries, the data of states needs to be filtered.
The point is the text which is being displayed in state dropdown for each state name is combination of 3 different members.
So, I created the following Tuple for the same and can see the expected display names in states dropdown.

Now, when I would like filter the cities data based on selected one or more states, I am unable to pass the multiple Tuples (more than one selected Tuples) as parameter for cities dropdown.
The following is my query for City parameter. It is working well when I select only one State from the dropdown.
However, when I select multiple states, it is unable to convert the Tuple into SET in ELSE part of IIF condition specified in following query.
Can anybody help me how to resolve the error that I am getting about STRTOSET function?
Or
Are there any other alternatives to achieve this requirement?
