Multiple lrcat files - Help!

Mac OSX 10.4.11, 1.8GHz PowerPC G5, 2GB
Lightroom 1.4.1
Photoshop 10.0.1
Hello:
I've been importing raw files into Lightroom and saving onto an external drive (MyBook). Somehow, though I started out with one lrcat, and only created one additional catalog (still regretting that decision) I now have MULTIPLE lrcats - and when I open Lightroom to process photos, I often have to spend quite a while looking for the catalog the images I want to process are in. This has become a nightmare. I'm at the point where I'm considering buying a new computer, but with new versions of Lightroom and Photoshop available, it complicates this matter even more. It seems as though a new lrcat is saving PER processing session...if that makes sense. I'm not sure why this is happening - but I'd like to have ONE catalog - subfolders (months within a year folder, for example), but not one lrcat per day! Does anyone know how to remedy this?! Help!!

Cindy,
With these forums organized to be product-specific, it's just a way of saying you would get better responses posting in the appropriate forum. So, please post your detailed question here: http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc2cf0a where the Lightroom pros hang out. Thanks.

    OK, I think MacHacha will do the job for you, if not look at RAR Expander or The Unarchiver

  • Can't get footnote numbering to update in a document containing multiple merged files, help!

    I've merged a bunch of files into a single document, nearly 100 pages long. The page numbers updated automatically with no issues, but it seems no matter what I try, I can't get the footnote numbers to sync. Is there a trick to this??
    Please tell me I won't have to go through 80+ pages and link them by hand!! Help ;-(

  • Best place for LR catalog (.lrcat) file?

    I'm putting together a new PC running Vista and am trying to figure out the best place for the LR catalog (lrcat) file. This PC has multiple hard drives as follows:
    C: OS and apps
    D: non-photo files (docs, mp3s, etc)
    E: photo files
    F: video files
    All the drives are comparable in read/write speed. The Lightroom app will be installed on the C: drive, and the LR catalog will consist of the images on the E: drive. While working in LR, I sometimes listen to mp3s stored on the D: drive. I'm assuming that the best place for the lrcat file is the F: drive (since I seldom access that drive while working in LR). Does this make sense? Or should the lrcat file go somewhere else?
    On a side note, on my last PC, I had the lrcat file in what was originally a dedicated scratch drive (for PS), but I'm doing less and less in Photoshop these days, and my new system will have 12GB of ram, so I decided to do without a dedicated scratch drive for the new system.
    Any advise appreciated.

    Asking yourself the following questions may help determine which drive is best suited for storing the Lightroom Catalog:
    1) Are you the only person using the "Lightroom computer"?
    2) Do you have multiple log on accounts?
    3) Do multiple log on accounts need access to the Lightroom Catalog?
    If you answer yes to #1, its default location might be fine.  If you answer yes to #2 or #3, you should concider a central location for the .lrcat file.
    By default, the .lrcat file is located in a users document folder.  This means that at least one (1) .lrcat file will be created per user account.  Seeing that you usually keep photo files on the E Drive, creating a folder on the root of the E Drive might not be a bad idea.  Using the root of E schema will then allow mutiple users to access the .lrcat file when they log on.  Using the E Drive keeps "photo related" files together, thought Drive D or Drive F would also work.  It appears from your description that you keep O/S and Applications only on the C Drive, which I do myself.
    Hope that helps!

  • Open Multiple PDF files from Production order/Routing

    Hi Everyone
    We are in ECC 6.0 environment. We have a scenario where multiple documents were attached to single operation and also at multiple operations. But when I was trying to open these PDF documents, only the last file was getting opened and closing the previous file. How can I open multiple PDF files at one time from Production order or Routing?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards
    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,
    from DMS standard I regret but such a functionality is not available. In the standard originals can be opened only one after another.
    I think for realising this functionality an individual modificatoin is necessary.

  • Multiple DB files clean migration (follow up to my decommission question)

    So I have requested help standing up a new environment and phasing out an old one since it was "all messed up" after spending some time digging into it it looks like best practice was followed (which I don't know how I missed this after reading
    through Mastering the fundamentals by Kent Agerlund multiple times). Apparently they suggest you create multiple SQL file based on how many CPU's you have available to help performance.
    The question I have now is when the backup site task runs it only backs up 1 2GB MDF file and a 11GB LDF file. Does that make sense? It doesn't look like the other SQL files that were created are being used at all? None of the SQL files have not grown past
    the initial size (the first file started at 2GB and is still that size).
    Assuming everything is working correctly my new plan would be to upgrade the existing setup and do a backup and restore to the new box using the same site code and server name. If I do that will it bring all those other SQL files with it our can I consolidate
    onto 1 file again? I don't think we need to worry about performance as the DB is pretty small and I'm trying to keep things simple.
    My other choice is I have the new server built with new site code so I could add the first site as a child site and migrate things over? I have multiple DP's out there so I'm not sure best way to handle that. The plan was to blow them away and rebuild brand
    new ones for the new site, but if I can just throw an upgrade on them that should work and be less work.

    My other choice is I have the new server built with new site code so I could add the first site as a child site and migrate things over?
    That won't work in CM12.
    Just back up the database using SQL and use that for the restore (there's no need for the SMSBackup task in CM12).

  • Read & Filter Multiple .wav files, Export Filtered SPL

    Hi
    I'm searching for tips on how to use LabVIEW to read multiple .wav files, then filter them, then export just the calculated SPL values to a "database friendly format".
    Basically I want a solution that allows me to point to several files, then press a "go button" that triggers LabVIEW to produce filtered SPL values as exported data.
    I'll skim over the cal approach since I'm confident most readers know how to handle it. Basically, though, for each 30 s .wav file of broadband noise, an associated cal tone file is used to determine the dBFS value (dB below Full Scale) to be associated with 94 dB SPL, or 114 dB SPL, as the case may be. I'll leave it at that.
    Detailed Requirements, (excluding cal steps, tho).
    1) Operates on up to a dozen 30 s time records (44,1 kSa/s, mono .wav files);
    2) Passes the signal from each desired .wav file through 18 of the 1/3 octave filters (IEC 1260 compliant, as in the S/V toolset) not necessarily in real time!;
    3) Calculates the SPL for each 1/3 octave filtered time record; This makes (12 files) x (18 filters) = 216 filtered SPL values if end-user points to a dozen broadband noise files before pressing the "Go" button;
    4) Exports SPL values in a suitable database format; an existing database does the rest of the mathematics and report generation;
    Client FileMaker database functions include:
    - import and store 1/3 octave filtered Leq(30) SPL values;
    - average filtered SPL across the declared qty of mic positions of the present test case;
    NOTES:
    1) In the field, we do NOT use simultaneous / MULTI-mics. Instead, it is absolutely an "open and shut case" that the optimum process is to move one (1) single mic quickly from spot to spot. While holding the airborne noise at a constant level we position the mic at each spot for 30 s to feed the .wav recorder, then move on. We emerge from a typical day of field activity with, say, 60 to 100 .wav files to post-process.
    2) (1), above, explains why we don't use any N.I. DAQ h/w.
    3) LabVIEW, it seems, exports best to a spreadsheet, so if needed, I'm prepared to handle manually any ugly conversion from LV's format to a proper database format ("1st Normal Form, 2nd Normal Form, etc.).
    4) Given a choice to calculate the averages in my database, versus in LV (say, to cut down on exported data qty), I'd likely opt to export the 216 SPL's and then do averaging in the database, (where the ASTM E336 reports are done).
    TIPS Gathered To Date:
    1) S/V toolset has IEC 1260 compliant filters, BUT...
    2) If you use the S/V toolset VI's, then you CANNOT ACCESS the filtered time record NOR CAN YOU WRITE the filtered data back to a .wav file! All you can do is measure the filters' outputs. Fortunately for us here, the available measures include SPL.
    Aside: Although not a show-stopper in this project, this constraint is surprising, nonetheless. To access & record the filtered sound, you'd have to either (a) ask N.I. to unprotect VI's, or (b) develop your own IEC compliant filters from N.I.'s published tap co-eff's etc.;
    3) LabVIEW does not support drag'n'drop operations on files. Instead, the recommended technique is to use multiple "Browse to/ Navigation/ File Open" panels to allow LV to open the user's desired qty of .wav files simultaneously;
    Thanks for any tips!

    The filter VI is password protected in the Sound & Vibration Toolkit (SVT) for two reasons. First, since the filter is compliant to a standard, by locking the code we guarantee that no one has the chance to accidentally change it so that they are no longer compliant. Second, the method of filtering the data is considered intellectual property that we are protecting.
    That said, from reading your post it does not appear that you need to have access to the filtered data since you are making an SPL measurement which is provided in the Sound & Vibration functionality. Is that correct?
    Also, I wanted to point you to another subVI which comes with SVT but is not in the pallette that might be of use. There is an example for SVT which is SVXMPL_Wav Power Spectrum which opens up a wav file and computes the power spectrum of it. Inside the VI, there is a subVI which will open a Wav file and convert it into a waveform which you can use with your SVT functions.
    Hope that helps,
    Jack

  • How to create list items with multiple attachment files using rest api javascript

    In one of user form I am using javascript rest api to create a list item with multiple attachment files. So far I am able to create list item and once created uploading an attachment file. But this is two step process first create an item and then upload
    a file.
    It create an additional version of the item which is not desired. Also I am not able find a way to attach multiple files in a go. Following is the code I am using.
    createitem.executeAsync({

    Appreciate any help.

    Thanks Mahesh for the reply and post you share it was useful.
    But this does not solve the core of the issue. You are uploading attachments after creation of item and multiple files are being attached in loop. This is kind of iterative update to an existing item with attachments. This will end up creating multiple versions.
    What I am trying to achieve is to create an item along with multiple attachments in a go. No item updates further to attach a file.
    Please suggest how this can be done in one go. SharePoint does it when one creates an item with multiple attachment.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • How to compile and register a Java CFX tag with multiple class files?

    All-
    If this is the wrong forum for CFX questions, please let me
    know.
    I need to determine how to compile and register a Java CFX
    tag that contains multiple class files. One class file implements
    the CustomTag interface and the other class files implement various
    supporting classes. All of the documentation that I have found
    talks about using a single class file. I am assuming that a JAR
    file will be involved, but I am not sure of the specifics.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    -Josh

    Yes, it will involve a jar. Use your java IDE (eclipse,
    etcetera ..) to create a jar containing all of the classes. Check
    your ide's documentation for how to create jar files. After you
    have created the jar, place the jar in the CF class path so CF will
    recognize it. For example the {cf_root}/WEB-INF/lib directory. CF
    must be restarted before it will detect the new jar. After
    restarting CF, register the CFX tag in the ColdFusion Administrator
    using the name of the class that implements the CustomTag
    interface.
    Though it is worth noting you can also instantiate java
    classes directly from ColdFusion (ie without using a CFX
    tag).

  • Using applescript/automator to import and categorise multiple .txt files

    Hello all,
    I wonder is anyone can offer me some advice on the best approach to importing multiple text files into excel. I've searched excel specific forums, but it seems that the macro's that work on windows wont work on my mac.
    Basically, I am trying to find a way of importing multiple comma delimanted text files into an excel workbook. If it is possible, it would also be great to automatically compute the data into summarised variables (e.g., the data is multiple reaction time trials [220 to be precise] and I would like to create cells within excel with the mean scores from groups of the trials [A1 to A20, A21 to A40, A41 to A80 etc.]) within a seperate sheet (at present I am importing the text files one by one, performing the calculations, before copying and paste special into a summary sheet).
    I have put an example of the file in dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/s/9y6valpkzsq8kgz/Example%20workbook.xlsx) to give anyone who is willing to help a better idea of what I mean.
    Thanks in advance.

    Danitaz,
    Did you ever figure out the problem with your mail that was going out from the wrong server (2 yrs. ago)?  I have the same problem from my MacBook Pro, using Mac Mail.  I try to send email from my work account and then find to my surprise and dismay that I get an autoreply in my personal gmail account from the person I wrote to.  I look in the Sent mail for my work account and it looks like the message went from there but I can see in the reply that it instead went from my gmail account!  I tried checking the box in my work account that says "send only from this SMTP server" but that didn't fix the problem.  The only way seems to be turning off the gmail in order to send with certainty from my work account.  If you have any suggestions I would love to try them.  Thanks!
    PS Sorry to write off topic here.  I wanted to reply to the original posting but I guess since it is so old I couldn't do so.

  • Page orientation when combining multiple postscript files to a pdf file

    Hi
    I'm having problems with the orientation of my pages when I generate pdf's from multiple postscript files.
    I have 3 postscript files that need to be merged into 1 pdf, and they contain a mixture of portrait and landscape pages.
    To create the pdf, I use the following code (because i have lots and lots of pdf files to produce)...
    /prun { /mysave save def
         dup = flush
         RunFile
         clear cleardictstack
         mysave restore
    } def
    (D:/example/fileA.ps) prun
    (D:/example/fileB.ps) prun
    (D:/example/fileC.ps) prun
    ... however, when I run the above code (by saving the text file into the /in directory of a watched folder), whilst I get a pdf, the page orientation isn't right.  For some reason, the first few pages are oriented correctly, then after about page 7 everything is portrait no matter what.
    The funny thing is, when I simply double-click on one of the postscript files (eg. fileA.ps), distiller changes it to pdf and the orientation is perfect for each file separately (fileA, fileB, fileC).  Even when I run the above code for just one ps file it works.  But as soon as I put all 3 sub-files together it doesn't orient properly.
    I've tried activating and de-activating auto-rotate in the PDF settings, as well as the DSC options in the Advanced tab, and whilst these changes do affect the pdf I get when I simply double-click a certain postscript file, it seems to have no effect when I try to combine the 3 files with the code above.  I still end up with the first few pages oriented correctly, then after about page 7 everything is portrait.
    Hope someone can help.
    Danny

    Ok i successfully generated my PDF files.
    Now I'm having difficulties merging them. I use a DDX file named LiveCycleInput.ddx
    What I do (everything in LiveCycle Workbench):
    1) FileReader to open the .ddx file as a document (successfully)
    2) Store the read document in a process variable (successfully)
    3) Assembler.invokeDDX with following arguments:
    Document DDX = process variable (read in 2)
    OutputResult = "AssemblerResult" processVariable which has type AssemblerResult as specified by the documentation
    Errorlog
    Everytime I run the process I get the following stacktrace in my server's logfile:
    ... 119 more
    Caused by: com.adobe.internal.pdfm.CollateralNotFoundException: DDXM_S14017: A <PDF> source document is required, but no documents were found for {PDF source="testFileDoc.doc.pdf" baseDocument="true"}.
    at com.adobe.internal.ddxm.ddx.pdf.PDFSource.getOrderedInputDocs(PDFSource.java:595)
    at com.adobe.internal.ddxm.blueprint.pdf.SourceSegment.addDocumentsForAssembly(SourceSegment .java:91)
    ... 125 more
    The .ddx file is stored in the same path as my generated .pdf files are stored.
    Content of my DDX file (full copy paste)
    <DDX xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/DDX/1.0/">
    <PDF result="testFileMerged.pdf">
      <PDF source="testFileDoc.doc.pdf"/>
      <PDF source="testFileJpg.jpg.pdf"/>
      <PDF source="testFileOdt.odt.pdf"/>
    </PDF>
    </DDX>
    Note that the DDX file is read from a network drive(!!) the source PDF files are in the same folder as the ddx file (hence no further path-links).
    Adding network paths to the source & result pdfs does not change a thing.
    All PDF Files apart from the result pdf fiile are present in that same folder
    I consulted the DDX reference multiple times and this is the simplest ddx that should work ... but it doesnt.
    Can anyone help me?

  • How do i combine multiple pdf file into a single pdf file?

    how do i combine multiple pdf files into a single pdf file?

    The thread was started in early March and it's Mid-April, I know this very well. The OP of this thread posted a very common and simple question or maybe he/she would have resolved this. For an Adobe Acrobat user it's not at all difficult to combine multiple PDF files into one. But to combine PDF files full version of Adobe Acrobat is mainly required, otherwise PDF files can't be combined. For example, I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. These simple steps are mainly required to combine PDF files:
    Open Adobe Acrobat.
    Click on Combine and click on Merge files into a single PDF.
    A window will be appearing, click on Add Files and select the PDF files you want to combine.
    Arrange the selected files in any order with the help of Move Up and Move Down button.
    Now click on Combine File and the selected PDF files will be combined within a few seconds.
    A new PDF file will be created. Click on Save As and name this new PDF file. Then, click on Save.
    A new PDF file will be created and all the selected PDF files are combined in it. The steps shown above might be different in other versions of Adobe Acrobat. Other than this, some third-party PDF merge software are also available. Most of them are available with a demo version for free evaluation. I've heard much about SysInfoTools PDF Merge software on other forums and directories and it's demo version is freely available. One may check its demo version if Adobe Acrobat (full version) is not available.
