Multiple PDF Files

Hi,
I am new to Documaker. I got the initial setup done and am able to generate a single PDF file from an XML. In our system, each XML file corresponds to each PDF generated. I am just wondering how to set the INI file for accepting Multiple XML input files and generates Multiple output PDF files. Also, is there anyway to name the generated PDF files from some DAL script or assign any sequence to it.
Thanks
Raza

RazaHi Raza,
Please reference the documentation Using the PDF Print Driver for your particular version of Documaker. See the section entitled Setting up the PDF Print Driver and subsection Using the PDF Print Driver with Genprint.
You can set up the print driver in a number of ways, depending on what you're trying to achieve in your output:
- If you can have multiple transactions in your XML file and want to generate a PDF for each transaction, use the MultiFilePrint option.
- If you can have only one transaction in your XML file, you don't need to do anything different - just configure the print driver as shown.
- If you can have multiple transactions in your XML file, and you want to generate a single PDF containing all transactions, see the sub section Generating a Single PDF
You also mentioned the configuration for accepting multiple XML input files - see the documentation Working with XML Files your for particular version of Documaker. See the section Using XML Extract Files. In particular you'll want to use the rule XMLFileExtract, which assumes that your input to Documaker is a flat file list which contains the filenames of the XML extract files you want to use. Your other option is to concatenate all the XML files into a single file (note that this includes concatenating the XML headers, which means this concatenated file will become an invalid XML file, but that is ok). If the latter option is what you're using, then you want to use the UseXMLExtract rule. For more information on the setup, see the Documaker Rule documentation for each rule.
If I am correct in my assumption that you have one transaction in your XML file, you will probably be using the XMLFileExtract rule in conjunction with the MultiFilePrint option.
For overriding the PDF file naming convention you can use the DAL in-line function as shown in the Generating a Single PDF section. The example illustrates how you would insert the value of a variable into the file name.
< BatchPrint >
PDF = ~HEXTIME .PDF
In this case, the variable HEXTIME is preceded by a ~, and is followed by a space. You can use multiple variables - e.g. +~KEY1 ~KEY2 ~KEYID ~HEXTIME .PDF+, just make sure you follow each variable with a space. The system includes a number of built-in variables, but you can reference any variable that you've created as a transactional or global GVM.
Hope this helps. If you need further clarification please respond.

I am not aware of a way except for photos that allows you to select multiple files in an email. I even checked settings in the Adobe Reader app, and it does not show that ability.

  • Open Multiple PDF files from Production order/Routing

    Hi Everyone
We are in ECC 6.0 environment. We have a scenario where multiple documents were attached to single operation and also at multiple operations. But when I was trying to open these PDF documents, only the last file was getting opened and closing the previous file. How can I open multiple PDF files at one time from Production order or Routing?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards
    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,
from DMS standard I regret but such a functionality is not available. In the standard originals can be opened only one after another.
I think for realising this functionality an individual modificatoin is necessary.
    Best regards,

  • How do i combine multiple pdf file into a single pdf file?

how do i combine multiple pdf files into a single pdf file?

The thread was started in early March and it's Mid-April, I know this very well. The OP of this thread posted a very common and simple question or maybe he/she would have resolved this. For an Adobe Acrobat user it's not at all difficult to combine multiple PDF files into one. But to combine PDF files full version of Adobe Acrobat is mainly required, otherwise PDF files can't be combined. For example, I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. These simple steps are mainly required to combine PDF files:
    Open Adobe Acrobat.
Click on Combine and click on Merge files into a single PDF.
A window will be appearing, click on Add Files and select the PDF files you want to combine.
Arrange the selected files in any order with the help of Move Up and Move Down button.
Now click on Combine File and the selected PDF files will be combined within a few seconds.
A new PDF file will be created. Click on Save As and name this new PDF file. Then, click on Save.
A new PDF file will be created and all the selected PDF files are combined in it. The steps shown above might be different in other versions of Adobe Acrobat. Other than this, some third-party PDF merge software are also available. Most of them are available with a demo version for free evaluation. I've heard much about SysInfoTools PDF Merge software on other forums and directories and it's demo version is freely available. One may check its demo version if Adobe Acrobat (full version) is not available.

  • Printing multiple PDF files in Windows 7 at once

When I had Windows XP I could select multiple pdf files in their folder then right click to print.  With Windows 7 this option is no longer there. I have searched everywhere for a solution to this problem.  I am not sure why Adobe (or Microsoft) took this option away.  I have to print 30 to 40 invoices a day.  I now currently have to open each individual document, print, close, and move on to the next.  This is quite cumbersome.  If anyone knows of a way around this I would appreciate the help.
If no solution is available does Abode know of the situation?

your right.  I am using Acrobat.  didn't even know I had it. I've been bugging the IT guy for Acrobat for a while.  I have no idea how long it's been installed.  I had just bugged him again last week.
reader is still set as my default.  without even realizing it, i've only been using acrobat to combine and print large files.
the only way to combine pdf's in reader is to use Adobe's online service which you have to pay for.
I'm sure there's some third party software out there.    I use bluebeam to mark up pdf's.  it's free.
don't know if it can be used to print or combine multiple files.  never tried.
the method of dragging and dropping pdf files into the printer window does work with reader. (I checked)
As I said, it prints the documents out of order which can be a pain.
I found this discussion because I was searching for a way to get the documents to print in order.  Haven't found one......yet.

  • Unable to open multiple PDF files in Acrobat 9 Pro - Vista

I have a staff member that is unable to open more than one PDF at a time.  If a PDF is currently open and another one is selected the program will crash and close.  It gives a message stating the program has crashed and must be closed and also gives an option to check online for a solution.  Has anyone else seen this issue or know a fix for it?  Thanks in advance.

No. Starting with Acrobat 9 it is no longer possible to open multiple PDF files in the same window.

  • Convert Multiple Outlook Emails to Multiple PDF Files (Not Portfolio or Single PDF) for Archiving?

Hi all, I am learning how to convert emails to PDF files and there is some great functionality there!!  I have not discovered how to convert multiple outlook emails into multiple PDF files (one PDF file for each email) - all at the same time (not one at a time)!!  Is there a way to do this using Acrobat X??  The purpose of this is for long-term business archiving.  When I search for an email in the archive, I do not want to pull up a portfolio containing 1000 emails or a 1000 page PDF file with multiple emails run together!!!  I want to pull up individual emails containing my search terms.  I have been searching for a way to archive emails and MS OUTLOOK .PST files are NOT the answer.  I get a lot of business emails with large attachments and I do not file my emails in separate sub-folders (by client or job).  I want to convert multiple emails (by date range) from my UNIVERSAL INBOX into multiple PDF files for long term storage (with each email being converted into its own, separate PDF file and named with the same name as the "Re: line" of the email).  This has been a HUGE problem for me....and Acrobat is sooooo close to the solution for me.  Can anyone help??  If so, will attachments be converted?  If not, is there a separate software program or add-in that I can buy that will do this??  I use MS Office 2010, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Windows 7 64 BIT.  Thanks for your help!!

I am a retired person and did'nt realize I already have a Adobe account, so you can scrap the entire information. Thanks for the trial anyway and have a great week.

  • Merging Multiple PDF Files in C# using Acrobat 7.0

I'm trying to merge multiple pdf files into one pdf file. Does anyone have sample or psuedo code for this?

Basicly, there has not much changed since version 5 so you can use also vers. 8 SDK / IAC section.
The command you to use is "insert", where the first page has to be opened and the other pages will be inserted.
If you google for PdDoc.insert you may get tons of examples and maybe also in C.
If you use Acro-Javascript via IAC you may find an example direct in the AcroJs helpfile.

  • Concatenate multiple pdf files into one single file

    hi,
Could any one help me with a code "combining or merging multiple pdf files selected from the browser into one single document" to send it as one single request to the printer?
    Thanks ,

It is called the Big Faceless PDF library.
they have a free trial download.
in regards to doing it yourself, of course.
but this is a pure java library that can do what you want without you having to re-invent the wheel (for a price of course).
they have excellent technical support as well, usually solving your problem within a day or so.

  • Convert 1 single microsoft word document with section breaks to multiple pdf files

I am a windows 7 users. I have a single microsoft word document which contain 1500 pages. These 1500 pages are seperated by sections breaks in the microsoft word. I am trying to convert this word document to multiple pdf files seperated by the section breaks in the Microsoft word. How can I convert the single microsoft word document with section breaks to multiple seperate pdf files?

Acrobat (Adobe PDF Printer and PDFMaker ) doesn't recognize the Section breaks.  It never has as far as I am aware.  The easiest thing to do is to manually break up a copy of the MS Word Document into the Sections you need and then create the PDFs from those MS Word documents.

  • How to create multiple pdf files from multiple batch processing

I have several file folders of jpeg images that I need to convert to separate multi-page pdf files. To give a visual explanation:
Folder 1 (contains 100 jpeg image files) converted to File 1 pdf (100 pages; 1 file)
Folder 2 (contains 100 jpeg image files) converted to File 2 pdf (100 pages; 1 file)
    and so on.
I know I can convert each folder's content as a batch process, but I can only figure out how to do so one folder at a time. Is it at all possible to convert multiple folders (containing jpegs) to multiple pdf files? Put differently, does anyone know how to process a batch of folders into multiple (corresponding) pdf files?
    Many thanks.

There are two approaches to do this:
    - First convert all JPG files to PDF files using a "blank" batch process. Then combine all PDF files in the same folder using another batch process and a folder-level script (to do the actual combining). I have developed this tool in the past and it's available here:
    http://try67.blogspot.com/2010/10/acrobat-batch-combine-all-files-in.html
    - The othe option is to do everything in a single process, but that requires an application outside of Acrobat, which I'm currently developing.
If you're interested in any of these tools, feel free to contact me personally.

  • Export to PDF - Can a single report (rpt file) create multiple PDF files using the export command?

    Post Author: markeyjd2
    CA Forum: Exporting
    Greetings forum members,
My question is, in its entirety: Can a single report (rpt file) create multiple PDF files using the export command, ideally one PDF file per DB record?
In my case; I have a Crystal Report that reads data from a DB table containing ~ 500 records.  When I export the report to a PDF file, I get one PDF file, with ~ 500 pages.
What I would like to do is export the report to ~ 500 individual PDF files; One file per DB record.  The file names would be based on the table's primary key.
    Is this possible?

    Post Author: Micha
    CA Forum: Exporting
    Hi,
you need some lines of code, but its easy. Dependend on how to start the generation of your 500 PDFs, you can write an ASP page and start it via Web Browser, or a Windows Script and start it via scheduled job...
Here's an abstract of the ASP code I use:
First, you create a recordset (here: "rsc") which gives you the list of ID fields you want to export, then you create CrystalRuntime.Application object, then you loop through the recordset, open your report (here: "oRpt") and set login info. Then set the selectionformula, so that the report displays only the data of the current ID, e.g.:
      oRpt.RecordSelectionFormula = "(" & oRpt.RecordSelectionFormula & ") AND {myTab.myVal}=" & rsc("myVal")
Then you export the report, move to the next record in recordset, and repeat the loop until recordset.EOF. Then you close recordset and connection.

  • Can I use Visual Basic to covert form user data from multiple .pdf files to a single .csv file?

Can I use Visual Basic to covert form user data from multiple .pdf files to a single .csv file?  If so, how?

You can automate Acrobat using IAC (InterApplication Communications), as documented in the Acrobat SDK. Your program could loop through a collection of PDFs, load them in Acrobat, extract the form data from each, and generate a CSV file that contains the data.
Acrobat can also do this with its "Merge Data Files into Spreadsheet" function, but this is a manual process.
