Multiple records from one form

Hi everyone,
I am creating a sign-up form for users of a website - i need
them to select from a number of categories that they want to be
listed in. i am using a series of check boxes for them to select
the categories. What i want to do is create a separate record in my
MySQL DB for each check box that is ticked that contains the user
ID and the category ID. is there a way to do this from just one
form?

You can save them in a SET column. A SET column type allows
you to store
up to 64 predefined values in a single column.
Create the checkbox group as an array by adding square
brackets to the
end of the name value like this:
<input type="checkbox" name="category[]" value="catA"
/>
<input type="checkbox" name="category[]" value="catB"
/>
<input type="checkbox" name="category[]" value="catC"
/>
To insert the values in a SET column, use implode() to create
a
comma-separated string:
if (isset($_POST['category'])) {
$_POST['category'] = implode(',', $_POST['category']);
else {
$_POST['category'] = '';
More about the SET column type here:

  • Updating multiple records from single form (ASP)

    I have a nested repeat region.
    I have created in the parent, a form with 3 fields and an update button.
    the child records all have multiple columns, 3 of which correspond to the parent.
    Athe parent is bound to the child records by the shipmentID
    I need to be able to update all child records from the form in the parent.
    The case is this.
    The child records are orders with shipdates and frequencies
    The parent contains a form with fields for shipdate and frequency
    The administrator needs to change the shipdate and/or frequency for all child records.
    (The child records are forms as well--but that's another issue that works fine)
    Shipment ID
    Date Field
    Freq Field
    UPDATE Button
    ShipmentID
    Record 1
    Data case1
    Date
    ShipmentID
    Record 2

    I am doing this in classic asp with an SQL database.
    So how do I get the form to update all record
    [Subject title edited by moderator to make clear ASP involved]

    Hi,
    This is one of those questions that would require far more explanation that is reasonable to expect in a forum. You should do a little poking around in the nearest Barnes & Nobles. About a half hour in a chare with a good ASP book and vanilla latte should have you on the right track.

  • Insert/update multiple tables from one form.

    I'm working on an app. that requires the user to fill out a form. The contents from the form is then used to either insert new records or update existing records in multiple tables. Is that possible? Can someone give a details example?

    You should create a form like you would create it having one table. Use row_id as primary key. The rest of the process are done by the triggers - those will take care of updating the right table depending which column was hit.

  • Simultaneous update of multiple records thru' one form

    Hi
    I am developing an online stocks inventory, where in a dealer places his order and fills in the reqd details. This goes to a table (Orders) in the database.
    Now the Orders Admin (in the stores dept) views all the new orders and allots acceptance number to each order.
    He may have multiple orders from the same dealer or from different dealers.
    The purpose is I provide him with a HTML form which displays all the orders with status=new. Following is what he may see - values displayed from the Orders table.
    DealId Product Qty Amt AcceptNo
    1 AB 1 100
    2 XY 2 200
    UPDATE
    The Orders Admin only has to fill in the AccptNo for all the new orders that he sees and the Orders table has to be updated with this single form.
    Is this possible.
    Please help me urgently
    Regards & Thanx in Advance.

    As stated earlier I have a Order Placement form for the dealers. Here they place their orders online and submit the form. The details they enter are stored in Orders table in a database. This order is sent for processing. This is an external operation for the users of our products.
    This table has two extra fields AccptNo and DelDate, which are filled in by the Admin of the Stores Dept of our company. The Admin then logs in and views the new orders. He sees the new orders displayed in the following format. The data shown is from the Orders table.
    He is then reqd to just fill in the Accpt No and Del Date against the requisite Order.
    Having finished filling up all the details he clicks the Submit button which updates the Orders table. i.e the existing records are updated with the accptno and del dates or rather the records are overwritten.

  • Copying Records from one form to another in Forms 4.5 (**URGENT**)

    Hello Gurus,
    I have Form A through which I zoom to Form B (using open form). The user selects some records in form B. Those selected records should be displayed in form A after the user clicks a button say 'copy' in Form B.
    What is the best possible method to do this.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Mallik

    You can accomplish this in two ways. To my knowledge you are not dealing with database tables in this issue. I guess. If you are then committing to the table and then requerying is the best thing to do.
    You can use either PL/SQL table types or Dynamic Record Groups to accomplish this task. PL/SQL tables are only supported from PL/SQL Ver 2.0 in forms. As long as you are using FORMS 5.0 or above then you can any of the above methods. My example here will tell you how to use PL/SQL table/record types...
    0. Create a PL/SQL Record type in a common library that you attach to form A and form B. Lets name it as FORMB_RECS.
    1. In Form B write WHEN-CHECKBOX-CHANGED trigger for the check box that you are using to select records. In that please copy the record primary key or all values to the FORMB_RECS declared in the common library.
    2. In the COPY button of Form B, copy the number of records in record group to global variable :GLOBAL.Copy_RecCnt and navigate to form A.
    3. In WHEN-FORM-NAVIGATE trigger of form A, check and see if :GLOBAL.Copy_RecCnt is > 0. If so then loop through the FORMB_RECS in common library and populte the desired block in form A.

  • Allow multiple records from this table to be displayed in the form is greyed out.

    I'm trying to add a second table to my main data source in an InfoPath 2010 form (database template), but the option to allow multiple records from this table to be displayed in the form is greyed out and I can't select it.
    Can someone please tell me how to correct this? I'm guessing that there might have to be something change in MS SQL because on other occasions I've have not encountered this problem when adding a second table.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    So I've found a work around, but I still don't know why I'm having the problem in the first place.
    I've been trying to relate the two tables by using the primary key in the parent table to a view of the child table that also includes primary key in the parent, e.g. the ORDER ID in the order table relating to the ORDER ID in the view of the order detail
    table. For whatever reason whenever I did that InfoPath prohibited the data source from returning multiple order details.
    My work around is to use views of both the order table and order details table that include the customer ID and to relate the two table in InfoPath using the customer ID. Now I get a data source that allows multiple order detail records. In order to get
    just the order details that I want that relate to a particular order, I use a rule that sets the order id in both the order and order details query data sets before executing the query (as opposed to just the order data set).
    Hope that's a clear explanation.

  • HCM Processes and Forms - Create multiple records of one infotype (eg 0008)

    Dear all,
    I'm trying to create two new records in infotype 0008 (basic pay). Regarding it's time constraint 1 it should like the following:
    Before
    01.01.2010 - 31.12.9999 - 2000u20AC
    After
    01.01.2010 - 08.11.2010 - 2000u20AC
    09.11.2010 - 31.12.2010 - 2500u20AC
    01.01.2010 - 31.12.9999 - 3000u20AC
    So I want to add two splits two the record. One is easy, as it's done by the SAP_PA operation. I experimented with the record indices and duplicating my fields, but it didn't work. Another idea would be to retriggerd the SAP_PA several times using scenario steps.
    Can you give me a hint, by which lever multiplee splits can be achieved? Or is this not possible at all?
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

    Thanks for your fast reply.
    Knowing this as a fallback is comforting. I just want to ensure, that I don't apply any coding, if a task is also possible by customizing.
    Another idea I had in the meantime was to execute the SAP_PA several times. Do you have any experience, if this works to create multiple records in one infotype?

  • How to concatenate multiple records into one

    Hi everybody:
    I want to know if exist some way to concat multiple records into one without using cursors. For example, I have a table named "Authors" like this:
    Lan|Author
    English|Ernest Hemingway
    Spanish|Octavio Paz
    Spanish|Mario Vargas Llosa
    English|Sinclair Lewis
    Spanish|Gabriel García Márquez
    And I want to get this:
    Author
    Octavio Paz, Mario Vargas Llosa, Gabriel García Márquez
    I have worked with SQL Server and I can do something like this:
    CREATE FUNCTION dbo.MyConcat (@lan varchar(10))
    RETURNS varchar(5000) AS
    BEGIN
    declare @retvalue varchar(5000)
    set @retvalue=''
    select @retvalue = @retvalue + Author +',' from Authors where lan = @lan
    return substring(@retvalue,1,len(@retvalue)-1)
    END
    ie, do not use cursors to concatenate records. However, with ORACLE, I have to do someting like this.
    FUNCTION MyConcat(P_Lan IN VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 IS
    v_ret VARCHAR2(4000);
    v_element VARCHAR2(4000);
    v_cursor sys_refcursor;
    BEGIN
    OPEN v_cursor FOR SELECT Author FROM Authors where Lan = P_Lan
    LOOP
    FETCH v_cursor INTO v_elemento;
    EXIT WHEN v_cursor%NOTFOUND;
    IF v_ret IS NULL THEN
    v_ret := v_element;
    ELSE
    v_ret := v_ret || ', ' || v_element;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    RETURN v_ret;
    END;
    Exist some other way to do this?
    Best Regards
    Jack

    Tks both for answer... I forgot to mention that I am using Oracle 10g. I read about LISTAGG() but this function is available for Oracle 11g release 2.
    I wil read about the other techniques than Hoek mention

    Rashmi/Kukku,
    First of all, Thanks for your help!
    Is there any other way in which we can access tables other than using BAPIs or RFCs?
    In my case, there is a table structure which has to be updated with values after validating a key. i don't think there is any RFC available now. do i need to create bapi/rfc for that?

  • Posting  multiple records from file to idoc

    Hi Exerts,
       i have done scenario to post one record from file to IDOC, to post multiple records from file to idoc what are the options to be modified in the scenario.
    thanks,
    dhanush

    Hi Dhanush,
      You need to change the occurance of idoc to 0 to unbounded ie need to opt idoc packaging.
      Just download the xsd of you idoc to the desktop and change the occurance tag as "<xsd:element name="IDOC" type="COND_A.COND_A02" maxOccurs="unbounded" />" and then reimport it into External definition and use it in your message mapping and then map it with you source structure.

  • Add to Multiple Tables from One Page

    Hello,
    I am building an application that handles hardware inventory (APEX 4.0). I have an input page that adds data to two or more tables all at once. The page has two forms on it that point to two separate tables. However when I try to run the page, it fails and returns an error:
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 437: PL/SQL: ORA-00904: "ORH_LAST_UPDATE_DATE": invalid identifier ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
         Error      Unable to process row of table IDD_ID_DATA.
    So far as i can see within the App, that column is not at issue (I am not even doing anything to it and it is nullable). I have looked into the App itself as well as doing some online research but have found nothing helpful...
    So my question is this: Is it possible to add to multiple tables from one page? If so how do I do it?
    I am new to APEX so any help would be greatly appreciated!

    UPDATE:
    I received an email from the APEX Support Team:
    "The simple answer is that you will need to manually code the DML (and query) processes if you wish to maintain multiple tables from one page (There is a limit of one table when using the built-in processes).
    In order to do this I suggest you delete the processes generated by the wizards and create PL/SQL processes with insert, update, delete statements as necessary. Such coding is not difficult but is more time consuming than when you can use built-in processes."
    I have been playing around with PL/SQL code and the end result is this:
    begin
         INSERT INTO table1
         VALUES(
              :P2_Item_Field1,
              :P2_Item_Field2);
         INSERT INTO table2
         VALUES(
              :P2_Item_Field1,
              :P2_Item_Field2);
    end;
    I used this code in a custom PL/SQL Process in the Processing>Processes section of Page Processing and it seems to work fine now. The only downside to this method is if the name of a Page Item is changed the code will also have to be changed. Other than that i have had no problems.

  • Pass value from one form to another (Dev 6i)

    How to pass a value/variable from one form to another called form in Oracle Dev 6i

    1. One-way communication (calling form sends information to called form)
    - using Forms :PARAMETER variables:
    OPEN_FORM / CALL_FORM (form_name, ..., parameter_list);
    2. Two-way communication
    2.1. If Forms modules runs in different database sessions
    (using "OPEN_FORMS (..., SESSION, ...);" called form runs in a new database session),
    you can use:
    - Forms global variables (:GLOBAL)
    - global record groups, created using GLOBAL_SCOPE parameter:
    rec_grp_id := CREATE_GROUP_FROM_QUERY (..., GLOBAL_SCOPE);
    - database "global" Application Context (available from Oracle 9i)
    2.2. If Forms modules runs in the same database session you can use methods in 2.1 plus:
    - library package data; with SHARE_LIBRARY_DATA parameter,
    Forms that have identical libraries attached can share library package data:
    OPEN_FORM / CALL_FORM (form_name, ..., SHARE_LIBRARY_DATA, parameter_list);
    - database package data (but, you must use get/set methods)
    - database "private" Application Context (available from Oracle 8i)

  • Update multiple records on one page php/mysql

    Hi folks,
    I am trying to adapt a page to offer the option to update multiple records on one page.
    The intention is to edit FAQ categories which are contained in a table with just two fields - the category and an id.
    The page lists each categories in a form with a submit button which is then repeated for each record in the recordset.
