Multiple sources on Template Builder

Hi,
how to put multiple data sources into template builder ? i would like a database report and i need to put data from instance, data files, etc.
I tried to code a .xdo file, but don´t know the sintax.
thanks,
Sandro.

I don't know what you used as the name of your data source, but it is used as the XML tag. We correct the name in some ways, but it may be that we don't correct everything.
Please try to use something simple such as
sql1
sql2
as the data source name nothing containing <sql_ID>?
Try first to see if you get the XML for both. If you have two datasources, you may have two correct any loops to show ONLY the data for the correct datasource.
For example if the outer loop of the table (hidden in F field - doubleclick, then select help text) contains:
<?for-each:ROW?>
you may need to change that to
<?for-each:sql1/ROW?>
or
<?for-each:sql2/ROW?>
We are trying to simplify that for the next release.
Hope that helps,
Klaus

  • Template Builder (BIPublisherDesktop.exe) installation for multiple users

    Hello,
    I tried to install version 10.1.3.4 of the template builder on a Citrix server (Metaframe 4.0) running under Windows 2003 SP2, and with Office 2003. Framework .NET 2.0 and JRE Sun 1.6 are also installed.
    It works, but, in Word 2003, the "Oracle BI Publisher" menu is only available for the user who have made the installation. Other users can"t see it ?
    I have monitored the registry during installation, and most of the keys are created in HKEY_CURRENT_USER, explaining why others can't see it.
    Is there a way to make one install available for all users ?
    Thanks.

  • Template Builder (XML Publisher Report) for Open Office

    Hi,
    Do any body has any idea, if can have template builder for Open Office also, My company has un installed MS Office from my machine, and they dont have license now.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nidhi Gupta

    Hi All,
    I think Oracle can provide a BI Publisher Software for the Open Office, since the licencing cost for MS Office is very high.
    "OpenOffice Writer" is a open source alternative to MS Word and can be used on Linux. If I am using Linux OS and have to work on BI Publisher templates then certainly I will have to install Windows or use WINE ( I donno how it works but heard of it)
    Other Oracle tools such as SQL Developer, etc are platform independent.. then why only BI Publisher is limited for windows/MS Office.
    Tim,
    Can you please answer..
    I think it should integrate with OpenOffice too!!

    Hi,
    i had the same problem. First we figured out, that the Report Builder was working in the  Root Site Collection of a Web Application but not in any other Site Collection of the WebApplication.
    After that we took a look how the Report Builder is started. The Content Type got a Click Once Application as Template, but you can't open the URL in the Browser neither the referenced file can be found in the Feature folder on the SharePoint Server. Turns
    out SharePoint does some crazy http redirection and that this doesn't work on Site Collections which are not at the root. At least if you installed Reporting Services Add In Service Pack 1.
    Fun Fact: If you start the Report Builder on the Root Site Collection you can create a Report which works on any Site Collection. Its just the launch if the Report Builder which is broken.
    Our Solution was the SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 Cumulative Update 8 which fixed the Problem.
    You can request a download here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2917531
    Select the "2012_SP1_RSShrPnt_CU8_2917531_11_0_3401_x64" Fix and install it on every SharePoint Server in your Farm.

  • Template Builder error(unable to load data)

    Hi All.
    When I try to load xml data into my document the template builder throws up the follwoing error
    The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of you macro security settings
    This message can appear if:
    The macro was deleted from the template.
    The template was not loaded or referenced in the Templates and Add-ins command.
    The macro was turned off by the macro security settings of your system.
    If the macro security settings are not allowing the macro to run, you should confirm the origin of the macro to be sure it can be trusted (contact the developer or the source for the macro). You can temporarily lower your macro security level to Medium, close the file, and then re-open it and enable each of the macros that you want to run. If you do change your macro security settings, be sure to raise them again after you accept the macro or trust the template the macro is stored in (usually requires copying the template to the same folder as other trusted templates).
    If the macro is not accessible because the template is not loaded, click Tools | Templates and Add-ins and browse to the template and click either Attach or Add. If the macro is not in the template, you may need to copy the macro from one template to another. Click the Organizer button at the bottom of the Templates and Add-ins dialog to start the Organizer utility.
    More information about this error message online. The macro setting in my document was set to medium.
    Tool-->>macro-->>security under security level tab it is medium.
    I followed all the steps mentioned in Tim's blog..but it didn't help any..

  • Howto deal with multiple source files having the same filename...?

    Ahoi again.
    I'm currently trying to make a package for the recent version of subversive for Eclipse Ganymede and I'm almost finished.
    Some time ago the svn.connector components have been split from the official subversive distribution and have to be packed/packaged extra. And here is where my problem arises.
    The svn.connector consists (among other things) of two files which are named the same:
    http://www.polarion.org/projects/subversive/download/eclipse/2.0/update-site/features/org.polarion.eclipse.team.svn.connector_2.0.3.I20080814-1500.jar
    http://www.polarion.org/projects/subversive/download/eclipse/2.0/update-site/plugins/org.polarion.eclipse.team.svn.connector_2.0.3.I20080814-1500.jar
    At the moment makepkg downloads the first one, looks at its cache, and thinks that it already has the second file, too, because it has the same name. As a result, I can neither fetch both files nor use both of them in the build()-function...
    Are there currently any mechanisms in makepkg to deal with multiple source files having the same name?
    The only solution I see at the moment would be to only include the first file in the source array, install it in the build()-function and then manually download the second one via wget and install it after that (AKA Quick & Dirty).
    But of course I would prefer a nicer solution to this problem if possible. ^^
    TIA!

  • BIP 10g template builder - no fields in ROWSET element

    Hi,
    I am using OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 with same version of BI Publisher.
    I have a problem with template builder. I am building template using few BI Answers reports as datasources.
    I am able to build template on some BI Answers without any problem (for example report with table of some user groups).
    After login into MS WORD template builder I click on Oracle BI Publisher -> Insert -> Field and I can see there ROWSET element with fields with group name, group code etc...
    But I have problem with building report on some other BI Answers (answers on some different table than previous one) for example report with table of users.
    After login into MS WORD template builder I click on Oracle BI Publisher -> Insert -> Field and I can see there only empty ROWSET element with no fields.
    Both tables have same permissions in BI repository, both BI Answer reports have same permisions but I can see data only from report with user groups and not from report with users. But reports seems to be same, they are very simple. There is only one difference and it is source presentation table. Table of groups for report of groups and table of users for report of users. But also these tables seems to be exactly same, same permissions...
    Now I am able to build BI Publisher report only on some of my BI Answers and not on all that I want to use.
    Can I delete some BI Publisher cache, or template builder cache, I can´t find any reason of this strange behaviour...
    Thanks for some tips

    I have same problem after installation of version 5.6.2. But after deinstallation 5.6.2 not working old version (5.5)! What is problem?
    I'm using Office 2k3 SP2.
    Any solution?
    Thanks.

  • Error Loading XML Data into Template Builder

    Hi,
    I am using XMLP 5.6.2 with E-business Suite. I copied a seeded Oracle Apps report and changed the output from Text to XML. I executed the report and it generated XML Output. I saved the output file as an XML file using IE.
    When I try to load the XML Data file in MS Word, I am getting:
    'Error No :-1072896682: Invalid at the top level of the document.
    Line No : 1
    Position : 1
    File Pos: 0
    Source: Authentication failed
    I never had this problem before using the older version of XMLP (I think it was 5.0).
    Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Try using "view source" within IE to get the XML in a text file (Notepad) and save it from there. Then it should load fine. When you save it directly from the browser window there is extra formatting that prevents it from being loaded in template builder.

  • Template builder & shared lib (10.2)

    Hi,
    i am creating a domain template from a portal domain using Template Builder.
    The resulting config.xml file stored in the jar file is not correct regarding some libs used by Weblogic Portal. Therefor, when i create a domain from this template, these libs are not found !

    <deployment-order>1</deployment-order>
    <security-dd-model>DDOnly</security-dd-model>
    </library>
    The correct source-path for each lib should be starting by $USER_INSTALL_DIR$ instead of $APPLICATIONS_DIRECTORY$
    Any idea ?
    Thx a lot
    Emmanuel

    I believe this is a known issue with the template builder of Weblogic portal.
    And the suggested workaround for this is to change it manually from the *$APPLICATIONS_DIRECTORY$* to *$USER_INSTALL_DIR$*
    thanks,

  • Modeling the Data model when multiple source systems

    Hi gurus,
    i have a scenario where i am getting data from multiple source systems all R/3 but from different locatins.
    my doubt is if i have to do reporting on the data available.
    1. do i have to build seperate infocubes for each source systems or build seperate data designs for each source system .
    2. How can i consolidate the different source sytems data into one and report sensibly as well as without loosing the source system identification.
    thanks and regards
    Neel

    Hi all,
    thanks for your focus, ya i am also thinking of have a flexible solution where in i can do it easily as well as we don't have much of complexcity, but wanted to try different options as well so that we can go for best one.
    I thought of multiprovider at first when RafB suggested, and i agree with you as well Lilly, that data volume will be a problem, so keeping all this in view i want to build a solution where in it will be sensible as well as not confusing in reports ( i mean clear and readable reports)

    please kindly forward any documents which might be helpful for me in this scenario

  • Multiple sources

    I would like to have some advice what to do best and what can be done in the following scenario:
    In our rpd we have an oracle db as source. Now the come with an excel file as source. So we getting a rpd with a multiple source. In the oracle db we have data like: costcenters, time, jobs, absence, fte etc...
    The new excel file contains data like budgetted fte, time, costcenters etc...
    What to do with those two sources. For the budgetted fte i want to create a new fact. But what to do with the dimension data. Do i have to join them in de physical layer with the "dimension" tables of the oracle db ? can that be done?
    Or do i have to create a logical dimension table with two sources? My concern is that i get double records.
    So what to do is a scenario like this....
    can someone do some advice... if something is not clear... feel free to ask.

    Check here you have a complex example of query federation with an Excel file !
    http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/fmw/bi/biee/r1013/bi_admin/biadmin.html#t8
    You must take attention that you must build also a ster schema in Excel.
    You must then have one sheet for the fact table and several others sheet for the dimension.
    OBIEE will perform a star query agains Excel and against the database and join them with an outer join on the dimension attribute.
    Good luck
    Nico

  • XML Publisher 6.5.2 MS word Template Builder fails

    Dear all,
    My env is: Oracle DB 10.1.0.5 on redhat Linux, XML publisher 6.5.2 on Windows 2000.
    While using the XML publisher GUI from the browser, I am able to connect successfully to the database.
    However, when I try to build a RTF template from MS word, I am unable to do so. The MS word template builder wizard is throwing an exception, and I do not know how to solve it in spite of some googling around.
    I gave the same connect identifier in the XMLP GUI (which connects) and also in the template builder (which fails to connect).
    Any help/pointers for this will be welcome.

  • Conditional format in OBI Publisher Template Builder for Word

    Hi,
    I'm creating a template in MSWord's Publisher. I inserted a table and I tried to add conditional formatting to some of the cells. Nothing special: just standard red color when the value is below 0.
    In several places I've seen that I should go to the cell and do 'Insert>Conditional Format'. Unfortunately I get the following message then:
    The conditional format is not inside a table and can therefore not be applied to a table row
    I tried to google it, but I didn't find anything.
    So I tried to do it with explicit xsl code. In the User's Guide I found an example and after my adjustments it looks like this:
    <?if:_-__ROUND__FACTS_SUMMARY_V_._ACTUAL_COST_PREV_MON___0__<0?>
    <xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="background-color">red</xsl:attribute><?end if?>
    <?_-__ROUND__FACTS_SUMMARY_V_._ACTUAL_COST_PREV_MON___0__?>
    I put the above xsl code in 'Properties>Advenced' for a table cell.
    And when I try to preview it as HTML I get the error:
    Caused by: oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XSLException: <Line 45, Column 100>: XML-22047: (Error) Invalid instantiation of 'Attribute' in 'Element' context.
    at oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XSLStylesheet.flushErrors(XSLStylesheet.java:1534)

    <fo:block xdofo:line-spacing="multiple:13.8pt" orphans="2" widows="2" linefeed-treatment="preserve" text-align="start" padding-bottom="0.25pt" end-indent="5.4pt" padding-top="0.25pt">

    <fo:table-column column-width="57.2pt"/>
    I can't see here anything related to my piece of code.
    Do you have any suggestions what do I do wrong?
    And, what's more important, what should I do, to make this conditional formatting run?
    I'm using Template Builder v. 10.1.3.4.
    I'm new to BI and not an expert in XSL, so please forgive me if the info in my post is incomplete. Let me know about it and I'll try to fill the gaps.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Here is what I have used in the past. insert a formula and copy one of these into the formula (and of course change the field names to your report field name).
    Changing Background Color Based on a Condition:
    <?choose:?><?when:GETROWNUM mod 2=0?><xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="background-color">rgb(231,230,229)</xsl:attribute><?end when?><?end choose?>
    OR

    <xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="background-color">rgb(241,235,207)</xsl:attribute>
    <?end when?>
    <?end choose?>
    OR
    Change font color for entire row based on a condition
    <?if@row:STAT='B'?><?attribute@incontext:color;'red'?><?end if?>
    Hope this helps,

  • Template Builder not found followed by Run-time error '429'

    Hello,
    I am having problems with BI Publisher.
    I am running the application on a Windows 2003 server via a Citrix connection using Word 2007 (SP2) (multilingual French/English). On this forum, I have seen numerous threads about this type of error but none seems to be working for us.
    Symptoms:
    I installed BI Publisher with admin rights (account A) and it works fine using this account
    I copy the TBCrosstab.dot, TemplateBuilder.dot, WordAnalyzer.dot in another User Profile "%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP" (Account B)
    All macros are enabled in account B
    The Add-ins menu shows but when I click on Connection I get the Template Builder not found error followed by Run-time error '429'
    I uninstall BI Publisher from Account A and install it using account B
    It now works fine with account B but I get the error messages in account A...
    Does BI Publisher work using multiple accounts on a single machine?
    Thanks

    Did you find a solution to this problem?

  • Complex/Multi Query Template using template builder.

    Hi Everyone!
    I'm learning BI Publisher & Template Builder for word-07. I have completed tutorials that are based on single query or single XML data. is there any tutorial that demonstrate working with multiple queries OR XML data sets.
    Best Regards.

    thanks for the suggestion. my problem is resolved.... I have studied theBI Data Modeling guide and findout that i have to create a data model that can have multiple data sets. after that i create data model in BI Publisher with mutiple data sets and then i create a template in word in online mode. and because im working in online mode i have access to all data sets of my data model. and this problem is resolved.
    Now I have another problem.... my ultimate target is to develop reports for Apex with dynamic behaviour. after developing the template i upload it to apex in Report Layout shared compnent and it work fine for hardcode query.
    I dont know how to pass parameters to Report Query at runtime. i tried to make a where clasue like WHERE REQ_ID = :REQ_ID. but it did not work. can you or anybody who reading this help me how to do this in apex.
