Muse crashes randomly when using the place file/image function. And is slow!

Hi guys,
I am using a MacBook Pro Retina i7 with 8GB ram. I installed the trail version of Adobe Muse and I am really liking the product so far, except that it crashes a lot, randomly, when I sometimes use the place file or place image function. (Command-D) Muse is also slow. I have little apps running, plenty of free space etc but Muse is sluggish, lags and crashes a lot.
Is there a known reason for this? This is preventing me from considering to buy the program.
Please help,
Regards,
Riaan

Thank you for that.
I will give it a try. Two things I noticed, I do have column view on, but sorted by type and then secondly I am placing images from my Google Drive and DropBox folder..
Will report back once I have had a chance to test it again.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 Crashes Randomly when using the Text Tool...

    Since the most recent Photoshop update, CC 2014 has been extremely buggy and completely unstable on my Mac Pro, which is inexcusable from a paid service .  The most common crash for me occurs when I try to use the “text tool” or attempt to edit text (usually the color).  I am occasionally prompted with a window stating, “Could not complete your request because of a program error” and then Photoshop crashes seconds after.
    After the initial crash and Apple’s various prompts I usually go through 2-3 consecutive cycles of Photoshop attempting to open back up and crashing over and over again.
    I’ve attempted signing out and back in to my Creative Cloud as suggested in several threads, but that was unsuccessful in mitigating the crashing.  Is there a fix for this, other than uninstalling and reinstalling?  My studio has too many upcoming deliverables and deadlines to do a fresh install, so suggestions/solutions would be appreciated .

    Sorry for the lack of the report it was my first time reporting an error for software... Never had an issue before.
    I haven't experienced the crash via text tool since I posted the question, but the Photoshop is still constantly crashing at startup, but every time I try to enter the report I get the error: Please try again later.m5

  • Illustrator Crashing when using the "Place Image"  Command

    I my efforts to keep my software updated, I ran and installed all of the Adobe CS 3 updates this morning. Since then, any time I attempt to use the Place command Illy immediately crashes. I don't even get far enough to tell it what I'm trying to place, so I don't think this is can be the image I'm placing.
    When I have had issues with Illy in the past, reinstalling from the original disk seemed to fix things, but not this time. I have reinstalled twice now, but it changes nothing. I can copy and paste the images in just fine, but I cannot use the place command without a crash.
    Any ideas anyone? I really could use some help...
    Thank you in advance for your time -
    Scott in California

    Nini's probably right. But I remember having the same sort of trouble in Illy5. There was some sort of conflict between Acrobat and Illy so that when you had been using Acrobat and then switched back to Illy it became impossible to place images or select already placed images without Illy crashing. The crash was so pervasive that you had to restart your machine to get things back on track; it wasn't enough to just restart Illy. We never discovered the reason but the problem disappeared on upgrading to Illy6.

  • How can I auto export a PDF File using the "Smallest File Size" preset and set the Exported File Name based on information from an Imported PDF?

    Greetings all,
    I am trying to create a script to automate a PDF export process for my company for inDesign. I’m fairly new to inDesign itself and have no previous experience with javascript, although I did take C++ in high school and have found it helpful in putting this code together.
    We have an inDesign template file and then use the Multi-page PDF importer script to import PDF files. We then have to export two version of each file that we import, then delete the imported file and all of the pages to reset the template. This has to be done for nearly 1000 pdf files each month and is quite tedious. I’m working on automating the process as much as possible. I’ve managed to piece together code that will cleanup the file much quicker and am now trying to automate the PDF exports themselves.
    The files are sent to us as “TRUGLY#####_Client” and need to be exported as “POP#####_Client_Date-Range_North/South.pdf”
    For example, TRUGLY12345_Client needs to be exported as POP12345_Client_Mar01-Mar31_North and POP12345_Client_Mar01-Mar31_South.
    There are two templates built into the template file for the north and south file that are toggled easily via layer visibility switches. I need to get a code that can ideally read the #s from the imported Trugly file as well as the Client and input those into variables to use when exporting. The date range is found in the same place in the top right of each pdf file. I am not sure if this can be read somehow or if it will have to be input manually. I can put North or South into the file name based on which template layer is visible.
    I am not sure how to go about doing this. I did find the following code for exporting to PDF with preset but it requires me to select a preset and then type the full file name. How can I set it to automatically use the “Smallest File Size” preset without prompting me to choose and then automatically input some or preferably all of the file name automatically? (If the entire filename is possible then I don’t even want a prompt to appear so it will be fully automated!)
    PDF Export Code (Originally from here: Simple PDF Export with Preset selection | IndiSnip [InDesign® Snippets]):
    var myPresets = app.pdfExportPresets.everyItem().name;
    myPresets.unshift("- Select Preset -");
    var myWin = new Window('dialog', 'PDF Export Presets');
    myWin.orientation = 'row';
    with(myWin){
        myWin.sText = add('statictext', undefined, 'Select PDF Export preset:');
        myWin.myPDFExport = add('dropdownlist',undefined,undefined,{items:myPresets});
        myWin.myPDFExport.selection = 0;
        myWin.btnOK = add('button', undefined, 'OK');
    myWin.center();
    var myWindow = myWin.show();
    if(myWindow == true && myWin.myPDFExport.selection.index != 0){
        var myPreset = app.pdfExportPresets.item(String(myWin.myPDFExport.selection));
        myFile = File(File.saveDialog("Save file with preset: " + myPreset.name,"PDF files: *.pdf"));
        if(myFile != null){
            app.activeDocument.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, myFile, false, myPreset);
        }else{
            alert("No File selected");
    }else{
        alert("No PDF Preset selected");
    So far my code does the following:
    1) Runs the Multi-Page PDF Import Script
    2) Runs PDF Export Script Above
    3) Toggles the Template
    4) Runs #2 Again
    5) Deletes the imported PDF and all pages and toggles template again.
    It’s close and much better than the original process which was almost 100% manual but I’d like to remove the Preset prompt from the PDF script and have it automatically select the “Smallest File Size” preset. and then if there’s a way to have it auto-fill in the file name so no user input is required at all other than selecting each file to import. (If there’s a way to setup a batch action for the multi-import script that would be even better!)
    Thanks in advance and if there’s anything else I can provide that would help please let me know! Even a nudge in the right direction will be a big help!

    If you hold down the option key, it will typically show the location. Or you can often hit option-return on the file and it will reveal the file in the Finder, instead of opening it.
    Final option is to open it, and just option-click the filename in the toolbar of Preview and it should show you the location.
    It's probably an attachment to an email you've received. If you have Mail set to cache emails and their attachments it'll be stashed in a subdirectory of ~/Library/Mail. Which is fine.

  • LR 3.2 crashes randomly when using keyword sorting

    Anyone else have this problem?   When I use the right arrow select to sort using keywords, LR crashes and shuts down.  Any suggestions on what to do to prevent this?

    When you use the "right-arrow" keyword filtering, Lightroom actually takes you to "All Photographs" and enables the Library filter with the keyword you have clicked selected in the filter. In other words, it's the Library filter that crashes your Lightroom, not the fact that you click the "right arrow".
    I've seen many threads reporting Library Filter crashes:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2986231?tstart=0#2986231
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2954754#2954754
    This started in LR 3.0 and was not fixed in LR 3.2. No fixes or workarounds have been found by other users, but the bottom-line seems to be that some images have some corrupt metadata that the Library Filter cannot "swallow". Some users were able to use the filter in certain folders, but never in others (that presumably have pics with "bad" metadata).
    Try to enable the Library Filter with filtering by keywords in some of your top-level folders to check if it works in all/some/none.
    I would advice all users that can consistently reproduce Library Filter crashes, file bug reports and send their catalogs with a clear description of the problem and steps to reproduce to the Adobe team ([email protected]) for inspection and possibly future fixes.

  • Error when using the Open file block

    I'm new to labview programming and am having the following problem:
    When trying to open a file ".dat" in Labview 6i it from the program ".vi" and appears "Error 7" and the file does not open. I am using the block "Open file". Attached is a screenshot. How to solve this?
    Thanks

    There is no way to troubleshoot this by looking at a picture of the diagram. LabVIEW 6 is almost prehistory and many things have changed, especially the file IO all looks different so it is impossible to tell what you are doing.
    Error 7 is file not found, so most likely your string operations are not correct. What are the full strings? What is the final file name (maybe you are missing a "\" or maybe you are on a different OS type). Put an indicator at the path wire to see what's happening!
    Is this a datalog file?
    (Overall, the code is a bit suspect. Nobody needs a seven frame flat sequence. ) Why do a control and an indicator have the same label?)

  • Fireworks Crashes / Freezes When Using the Text Tool

    Mac Octocore > OSX 10.6.1
    Master Collection > Fireworks CS4
    First I noticed the text box shift.Then Fireworks CS4 would freeze during any of the following:
    • Resize grouped text
    • Move text box
    • Click on text box to edit with type tool
    • Double-click on text box to edit with pointer tool
    So I started a brand new file, but encountered the same outcome. Thus, Fireworks CS4 is currently useless if text is needed. I can create vector based objects, but just clicking on the canvas (or clicking the font menu) with the text tool freezes Fireworks CS4 instantly. I've had similar issues with Fireworks CS3 edition, but if I started a new file, I was at least able to use the text tool again and type. Now, I can't even recreate the file. I have to abandon Fireworks and use a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator before my timeline becomes even further behind.
    I'm at a complete loss.

  • Picking up half written files when using the ftp/file transports

    Hello,
    We are using the custom doc over generic protocol. We have an internal delivery channel which uses the file transport to read outbound documents. We stage those documents in the directory specified in the delivery channel. The problem we are having is that B2B reads the document before it can be fully written to the directory. How do I configure my transport to read the file after it has been fully written to the staging directory?
    Cliff Wright

    Hello Cliff,
    This use can can be addressed by copying the files to a Work in Progress(WIP) folder and have an utility to copy it to the staging folder after it gets copied completely into the work in progress folder. One possible way to make sure it gets copied completely to the WIP is to check the size of the files in a regular interval for e.g 2 sec for 3 such interval and make sure the size of the file is not changing. HTH.
    Please let us know.
    Rgds,Ramesh

  • When using the Database Connectivity Toolset, reads and writes with long binary fields are incompatible.

    I am trying to write LabVIEW Variants to long binary fields in a .mdb file using the Database Connectivity Toolset. I get errors when trying to convert the field back to a variant after reading it back from the database.
    I next tried flattening the variant before writing it and ultimately wound up doing the following experiments:
    1) If I use DB Tools Insert Data to write an ordinary string and read it back using a DB Tools Select Data, the string is converted from ASCII to Unicode.
    2) If I use DB Tools Create Parameterized Query to do an INSERT INTO or an UPDATE operation, specifying that the data is BINARY, then read it back using a DB Tools Select Data,
    the length of the string is prepended to the string itself as a big-endian four-byte integer.
    I can't think of any way to do a parameterized read, although the mechanism exists to return data via parameters.
    Presuming that this same problem affects Variants when they are written to the database and read back, I could see why I get an error. At least with flattened strings I have the option of discarding the length bytes from the beginning of the string.
    Am I missing something here?

    David,
    You've missed the point. When a data item is flattened to a string, the first four bytes of the string are expected to be the total length of the string in big-endian binary format. What is happening here is that preceding this four-byte length code is another copy of the same four bytes. If an ordinary string, "abcdefg" is used in place of the flattened data item, it will come back as <00><00><00><07>abcdefg. Here I've used to represent a byte in hexadecimal notation. This problem has nothing to do with flattening and unflattening data items. It has only to do with the data channel consisting of writing to and reading from the database.
    I am attaching three files that you can use to demonstrate the problem. The VI file c
    ontains an explanation of the problem and instructions for installing and operating the demonstration.

  • Firefox 3.6.3 crashes randomly when used throught SUN Secure Global Desktop. I have a Solaris core dump. Is there a way to get the dump read?

    Running FF 2.0.0.8 with Sun Secure Global Desktop - no issues. Upgraded to V3.6.2, then 3.6.3. Both upgrades failed. Browser randomly crashes at different times, different pages. FF works if directly ssh'ing into application sever. When accessing FF after loging in using SGD, I get random crashes. I have a Solaris core dump generated by FF. Is there anyone that can read/diagnos the core dump?

    I have identified the issue and received a 'fix' from the
    Oracle Secure Global Desktop support team.
    The issue - firefox is crashing when attempting to talk to the sound server which is not active. All activity within the window works fine, except ff hangs the second you move the mouse in to the top level menu.
    We disabled the audio under the SGD configuration and that ficed the issue.

  • How to change embedding option when using the place command?

    When I try to place any file to illustrator (latest version) its automatically embedded. Is there any way to change that so the file will be linked and not embedded?

    yarontm,
    Second go (I posted this an hour ago, or rather it failed to post for some or no reason):
    Are you DoubleClicking the file? If you are, try just Clicking it.
    If you are just Clicking it and it just embeds, something is wrong.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Significant delay when using the "tap to click" trackpad function

    (I accidently post this in the wrong forum -- for the old MBP -- so this is a repost)
    Hello everyone! I bought a 2.4 Ghz unibody MBP like 3 weeks ago. I had an issue and they replaced the computer with a new one at the store. Today is the first day of using the new laptop. They switched out the ram upgrade and the hard drive.
    The issue seems to be that when using the tap to click function on the trackpad, there is a relatively significant delay (at least for a click). With the regular mouse button the delay isn't there. Such as if I'm clicking on the finder or the file tab, there's a bit of a delay before they pop up, compared to instantaniously with the mouse button. When using the trackpad for regular types of tasks, there is a bit of a delay sometimes too. Such as I'll be moving the mouse across the screen and it will stop.
    Please help me out. If I could solve it without going back to the Apple store that would be great. Thanks everyone in advance.

    Update: I think the 1/2 second delay is too long of an estimate, but the delay is significant enough to make me notice something has to be wrong. My previous MBP had no delay.
    When moving the mouse around, I'm not sure if it's a MBP issue, but occasionally the mouse seems to "get stuck" on the screen and I have to begin moving my finger again on the trackpad. This happened on the first MBP too.

  • PDF's in Acrobat Reader X will not open when using the browser, Internet explorer opertes all ok? Mozella 4 is the default browser! Windows XP Home ed with all latest updates!

    When using the Mozella Firefox 4 browser and the NEW version Adobe Reader X, PDF's online will not ever open. After 1-3 minuites, I eventually get a message the Adobe reader is running, but need to close and try again! I get same results when trying again.
    Internet Explorer operates and opens the online PDF's all ok and the Adobe Reader X seems to operate all else ok!
    I think, but not sure, that this issue appeared when the Adobe Reader updated from the older version 9 or so to the NEW Adobe Reader X version about 1 or 2 weeks ago, but not sure. I just remember that Mozella always worked ok previously to the Adobe Reader X version for opening online PDF's last month, etc.
    Note that I said that Internet Explorer browser operates ok Using the New automatically upgraded Adobe Reader X for viewing PDF"S! (adobe notified me that the new version 10 (X) was available for updating, etc) I also just discovered that google chrome browser opens the online PDF's ok!
    I have not trying re-storing the computer to the previous month, etc, since the issue seems to be with Mozella not liking the Adobe Reader X version and Internet Explored browser operating ok!
    Any ideas????

    I had the same problem and my solution was to disable the PDF extension that came with Firefox 4 which belongs to another company. I found out that it wast interfering with ReaderX. I unabled it and restarted Firefox. I have had no problems since then. Go to Tools, Add-On and click on Extensions and disable the PDF extension. I hope this helps

Any advice out there?
