My computer running Windows 8.1 no longer recognizes my 7th Generation Ipod Nano.  I have removed and reinstalled the latest ITunes software and it still doesn't recognize my Ipod.

I previously installed my Ipod Nano 7th generation in Itunes, Windows 8.1.  When I have recently connected, Itunes does not recognize it.  I removed and reinstalled the latest Itunes software, but no success.  Message says that Itunes sees an Ipod is connected, but does not recognize it.  The USB connection is working fine, as I recharged the Ipod without problem.

    Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See thisthread for background and please take note of the warning tobackup your library before deduping.
    (If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
    Note if some of the duplicate items have the iCloud link icon sign out of the store, then sign in again.

    I was currently trying to update my itunes to the newest version. It went through all the setup and i thought it was okay untill i clicked to open itunes and it said windows error try reinstalling. I used the repair function and that did not work.     Actually It doesn't. It says he's on a MacBook. I don't know all the different types of Macs. I was having a ton of problems with iChat. I opened DMZ to my computer, knocked down all firewalls etc and left everything exposed, still with bad results. A few weeks ago my power supply went out on my D-Link. I bought a linksys. Since I'd left all firewalls off I figured it couldn't be the router. I power cycled everything n the netork, still no luck. Today I bought a universal Power supply and started up my D-Link Router. Everything worked perfectly. My wifes computer - a laptop running Tiger worked fine with the Linksys and did my machine before the Leopard upgrade. Now that I've got the D-Link online everythings working.

    my Laptop (Dell Vostro - running XP SP3) neither recognizes my iPad 2 nor my iPhone 4! 
    Both devices are working correctly with my desktop PC running Vista with the same USB cable!  
    I followed trouble shooting guides, checked that the drivers are present, installed, removed and reinstalled the latest iTunes (in the correct order together with the other Apple software components) etc. but nothing works! The interesting thing is that when I plug the iPad or the iPhone in the laptop's usb-port for a second Windows correctly shows the devices either as iPad or iPhone in the "Device Manager" with an exclamation point !!!    But then after a split second Windows allways switches the devices to Digital Camera and the correct iPad or iPhone disappears !!!     =>    That is why I guess that this is a driver problem!
    Does anybody have any idea what else I can try?
    Is there a manual way to install the drivers for the iPad 2 or iPhone 4?

    You do realise that wiping the disk means that everything on the disk is erased. Everything. Photos, music, emails, ...
    So the first piece of advice is to make sure you have a back up of everything.
    You need the OS disk to reintsall the operating system. You will use that disk first to erase the drive, then to reinstall the OS.

    As for MS Office, you will need the original disk that it came on to reinstall it.

    Tried that by shutting down via the power button only as the normal shutdown was nixed by the open window issue.  It did not help.  Found a very similar question in the discussions and it recommended "Force Quit".  That worked and the update works normal and the window is gone.  Thanks!

    Here is what worked for me:
      My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

    when I click the firefox link a window pops up saying a the program is already running and I must close that program in order to run a current one. I went through task manager and then completly uninstalled firefox and reinstalled the newest version. This did not help.
