If you know that you will not be asked to design GUI interfaces, and the C programming course will adhere to command line compilation environments, then get the Xcode command-line developer tools, and skip the extra complication of Xcode until you absolutely need it. Apple has kicked GNU C to the curb and is rightly so, using Clang/LLVM compiler technology.
Sign up for a free Apple Developer account using your Apple ID, and then visit the Mac Dev Center, and towards the bottom of the page, you will see additional downloads. Click on the associated, all down loads link. Know your OS X version beforehand, as the command-line tool releases are tied to general operating system versions, and the most recent Xcode version.  That said, there are currently two March 9, 2015 command-line tools for Xcode 6.2 — one for OS X 10.9 Mavericks, and the other for OS X Yosemite.

  • The best place for content server

    Hello,
We need to install content Server . SAP ECC is in Paris .
The users who will use the content server will be in New-York.
Is the best place for content server in Paris or in New-York?
The question could be : Will a document (for ex. a pdf of 100 Mb) to be checked_in the CS be first transferred from frontend to ECC and then from ECC to CS or directly from frontend to content server ?
    Thanks

    Hi Oda,
If your users are in New-York, then better to have content server there to optimize network traffic and speed. There is something called as distributed content server concept where you can have different storage areas for different geographical locations.
And as far as i know, whenever files are checked-in, they are directly stored in content server and it will not route through the ECC. Only DIR stored in the ECC will be linked to the file in the content server.
    Hope this helps.

Where is the best place for suggesting/requesting features?
If something like this already exists, please let me know.
I often wish when I select a word to right click and choose dictionary to to find out the meaning of the word. Currently I have to copy, go to a dictionary web page, paste and search. And I spent a lot of time for that. I'm not that technically oriented to suggest how this can be achieved but just as an idea, may be Mozilla can partner with dictionary web sites by making a plug ins or include a dictionary with Firefox itself

I am sure there are Extensions that do this.

  • I have a sql server 2008. What is the best placement for the tempdb.mdf?

The sql server has three drives c, d and e. The c drive contains the program. The D drive contains the main db and the tempdb.mdf. The E drives contains all the logs. I've seen the disk queue for drive D spiked up to 50 sometimes. The majority of the read/writes
came from maindb and the tempdb. I was wondering if it is a good idea to separate the tempdb from the maindb to another drive? Thanks.

    Hello,
Disk queue value you posted does not qualifies exactly which counter you are talking about. If you are getting instantaneous high value for Avg disk queue length it is not a issue but if this queue length is for long time and continues to be a straight line
then it can be issue. Its always good practice to put tempdb on separate drive to gain performance. Please post the value which counter shows not the value shown by graph.Refer below link

  • Where's the best place for a script to store data? CS4

    Hi,
I'm writing a script that needs to store some data in each document that it's run in (I would like the user to be able to store default preferences for the script).
I've thought of getting the script to create a master page + text frame with data. But is there anywhere better and perhaps less visible?
    Thanks,
    Ariel

    Hey!
Well, if you use 'app.activeDocument.insertLabel()' then it's stored with document, even after restart, but document must be saved.
If you use 'app.insertLabel()' then it's automaticaly stored, and can be used even after restart.
Great way to use it for script settings.

  • Where is the best place for EXS samples?

I finally upgraded from my G4 which had space issues. Now I'm wondering: Should EXS samples be on the boot drive or the media drive? How about Reason refill, RMX samples etc.?
    Thanks in advance!

We know that the iPad only connects using wireless but don't know whether you plan to connect the iMac and/or the MacBook Pro using wireless as well.
If yes, the ideal spot for the Time Capsule would be a central location so that wireless devices would all be about the same distance from the Time Capsule.
Think of a wheel with a hub and spokes.  The Time Capsule would be the "hub". Each wireless device would be located at end of a separate "spoke".
If that won't work, Apple does offer devcices like the AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme that can "extend" the wireless signal for greater coverage.

  • Is the Internal Hard Drive the Best Place for the Project Files?

At the moment I have my Project Files and all the others (media, render etc.) on my external LaCie FW HD. The setup works perfectly OK.
However, would it further improve performance if I put the Project Files in the Documents folder on my eMac's HD?
Theoretically the two drives would be splitting the workload and therefore the computer should be more efficient.
I would appreciate any input detailing the advantages of different configurations and whatever system may be your favourite.
In the near future I will probably be getting a second LaCie HD - basically for general storage. How could that also be advantageously used to make FCE HD even more efficient?
    Ian.

Putting the project file on the system drive is generally considered good practice. I'm not sure how much actual performance improvement you'll see, but the media might be less likely to have dropped frames. It also means, if your autosave vault is on the media drive, that you have project file backups on a second hardware device in case one fails.

  • Where is the best place to put cfqueries?

Where is the best place to put cfqueries, in the <head> </head> or before the html tag? Thanks

So before the doctype tag? Thanks
I just doesn't really matter.  the doctype, head, body, etc only matter to the browser; the CF tags only matter to CF.  The browser doesn't see the CFML, and CF doesn't care about the mark-up one bit: it just ignores it.
The best place - as I said - is not in the same file at all.  But if you insist on slapping your business logic in with your display logic, then the only consideration is that you need to set your variables before you use them.  Other than that: it simply doesn't matter.
One consideration you might make is - even if it's all thrown into the same one file - at least separate the file itself into sections: have all your CFML code that gets your data at the top, and try to limit the CFML you have mixed in with the mark-up, eg: limit it to stuff like loops and conditionals.
But, seriously, separate your concerns.  Dan's pretty much just wrong when he said it's over-engineering. It's just sloppy to not to write tidy, well-maintained, well-organised code.

  • Best place for the sub.

    Hi,
I have a 2.1 speaker system (I-trigue 3400) and was wondering if anybody knows the best place to put the sub so you can hear the deep bass more, it is infront of my legs now, and when i bend down i can hear more, but when i put it above my head i cant hear it again.

To find the best place for a sub is quite complicated. The distance from walls, corners and other objects makes a huge difference. One way is to place the sub where you will be sitting; put it as close to where your head will be as you can. Then play some music with nice deep bass and crawl around the floor. You should notice that there are areas where the bass is louder, these are the best spots to place the sub.

My iphone &amp; ipad mini are both here w/ me at my home. But the findme app is showing my ipad mini on the other side of town, how can i get that corrected?

    Hello Krazyboutgolf,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
    iOS 7: Understanding Location Services
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5594
    Improving GPS accuracy2,4
GPS accuracy varies depending on the number of visible GPS satellites. Locating all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. Use these tips to improve GPS accuracy:
Ensure the date, time, and time zone are correctly set on the device in Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically.
Important: Incorrect settings on your computer can sync to your device. Verify the date, time, and time zone on any computer that syncs with your device.
    Restart your device.
Verify that you have a cellular or Wi-Fi network connection. This allows the Assisted GPS (A-GPS) on the device to locate visible GPS satellites faster, in addition to providing initial location information using the Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
Note: Microcells (sometimes called Femtocells) aren't supported with Location Services.
Maintain a clear view of the horizon in several directions. Keep in mind that walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains, and other obstructions can block line of sight to GPS satellites. When this occurs, your device will automatically use Wi-Fi or cellular networks to determine your position until the GPS satellites are visible again.
    Best of luck,
    Mario
