  • Firefox opens a home page and then stops responding

I had no trouble until this evening when there was an update.
When I go to a website (I have tried a few) the home page opens.
When a try to open another page on the site I get the hourglass and Firefox stops responding. I have to close it using Task Manager and use Opera or Mousie instead. This started this evening. I was only offered a message to Microsoft.

Not really a reply just some more info. Task Manager shows two identical instances of FF. Both close when you try to remove one.
I decided to try reinstalling - Add/remove could not remove FF. The reason - it must have been uninstalled already!!!

  • Firefox won't load pages and says "Stopped" in the lower left corner of the screen.

From last night "Latest FF and XP Pro. 2.4 Ghz Celeron, 1 gig RAM. FF will work for a while, then it will stop loading pages and say "Stopped" in the lower left corner of screen. Sometimes I can refresh and the page will load, but 95 out of 100 times I can keep refreshing and it will say "Stopped". Or, the page will partially load and then quit and say "Stopped". I have disabled IPv6 and DNS Prefetching and it is still doing it. IE is doing about the same thing. VERY frustrated. My last PC started doing this and I finally upgraded to a newer one and it was fine for a couple months, but started doing the same recently. Arghhh ... Thanks!"
Thanks to you who replied last night/this morning. I hit the "solved" button apparently but this from last night-
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/702910#threadId703008
is not solved. I tried FF 3.5.9 and still have the same problem.
    Thanks again,
    Dave
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == a while back

You, me and many others (based on threads throughout the net) have this same problem. I've had some peeps at Mozilla take a look, they couldn't find a problem or a solution.
Here's what I found does work - The problem popped up on me when I upgraded to Firefox 3.63. Uninstall FF 3.63, and install 3.59. You can still download it until end of June or July I think.
My problems went away with 3.59. Seems to only affect Window users as Mac Firefox 3.63 works fine.
Also found some threads pointing to ZoneAlarm Firewall, timeout handlers and some upload tools. I don't have ZoneAlarm so I don't think that was the cause, just another victim.
I wish Mozilla would pull the plug on 3.63, re-package 3.59 as 3.64 and go back to the drawing board until they find out whats wrong.

  • Safari, iTunes, software update iCal not connecting. Firefox is fine. Tried Proxies, but not sure what to do there. Only one box was checked, I unchecked it, and made no difference. Have also tried some other DNS numbers, nothing worked yet.

    Hi There,
Safari, iTunes, software update iCal not connecting. Firefox is fine.
I have found some archieved discussions about this, but none that went  into detail about how to fix problem using proxies - I don't really  understand what they are/ do.
I went into the Proxies screen, Only one  box was checked, "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" I unchecked it, and made no  difference. There was also some stuff written in the "Bypass proxy settings for these hosts and domains" I deleated that and nothing different happened. Have also tried some other DNS numbers,  nothing worked yet.
    Any suggestions?

I still have no idea what was wrong with Safari last week, but I opened it today, and its all working! Hurrah!
Woohoo! I'm a great fan of things fixing themselves. Fingers crossed in New Zealand for no further problems.

You don't have to disable any addons or extentions!!!You guys are not going to believe this I figured out the problem it's really dumb...ok here goes the attachment uploader loads seperate so I got to thinking it's a popup so I went to options content and under block pop ups there is an option exceptions click on that and in the box type firefox.com and hit allow pow its fixed!!!!! :-)

  • My Screen Is Blurry, Pixilated and Won't Respond To Touch In Lower Left Corner

I noticed it was sitting in some serious condensation from my icy drink earlier but it was the backside. First the lower left corner started acting strangely and wouldn't respond to touch. The screen looks blurry like I'm seeing double and then it gets slightly pixilated. It hasn't been updated yet to iOS 7.1.2 though. Wondering if I should power down and put it in the rice for 24 hours. I pulled the sim card out and checked the white to see if it turned red. It didn't, but my last phone was water damaged and it also stayed white.

Has anyone experienced anything like this from just condensation? I'm rice-bagging it for 48 hours just in case. I couldn't find anything like this online.

  • My ipod touch's screen is changing colors and will not respond to the buttons

my sisters ipod touch is a 4th gen and the screen recently started changing colors, it does not respond to the buttons and will not turn off. should i wait for the battery to die then charge it. she said it started happening when she was charging it. could it be the charging cable? i do not know what OS it has.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Firefox 29 either will not startup or stops responding immediately

I just downloaded the latest version of Firefox and immediately found it to be unstable; stopped responding 4 times within minutes of updating. Most of the time all I had to do was click Bookmarks and it would stop responding. Tried searching for help on here and tried a few things including clearing my cache, removing cookies and setting it clear history when it closes... etc
Now Firefox is completely unusable. Sometimes it won't start at all and when it does startup it immediately stops responding altogether. I have to force it to close by ending the processes. I have tried opening FF in safe mode, resetting it, uninstalling it and going back to ver 28, restarting my laptop... nothing works. Am assuming this is because it remembers my settings each time. I don't want to lose my bookmarks and extensions etc. so don't delete them along with uninstalling FF.
What can I do to fix this?

    Think I might've found a solution.
AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles - went into the profile I currently use (left the default one alone) and removed the following: cookies.sqlite, cookies.sqlite-shm and cookies.sqlire-wal.
Then Firefox started normally and would respond, allowing me to return settings to what they were i.e deselecting 'Clear history when Firefox closes' which I've read is buggy in ver 29.
Firefox is now working normally and so far hasn't crashed.

  • I recently downloaded firefox to my new laptop and it is annoying to have my searches redirected, constant ads popping up telling me to install software.

I do not understand why this is happening, but I do not have time to constantly close redirects and popups, I cna always go back to my old browser, Google Chrome but i wanted to support Firefox. why can't you fix it at your end?

hello, you have a malicious addon present in your firefox profile. please try these steps:
    # [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    # afterwards go to the firefox menu [[Image:New Fx Menu]] > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    # finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] and [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

  • You forcibly updated me to your newest version, and it stops responding every 5-10 minutes. Firefox used to never do this.

You updated me to FF 28 back in April, and that version hung and hung and hung like never before - every 5-10 minutes at times! I rolled back to a prior version, and Firefox was finally usable again.
You forcibly updated me to FF 30 this week, and guess what? Firefox is back to being unstable and unusable.
Why are you forcing updates on me to browser versions that are more unreliable than their predecessors? And why are your newer versions pausing and hanging so often?
