My iPhone (4S) can't play songs from iCloud. So I discontinued iCloud and now, my songs are no longer on my iPhone.

I unfortunately tried the iTunes / iClound service. What a poor quality service. When I loaded my songs (4,300+) the iCloud programs appears to have deleted several of my songs and deleted the originals from my iPhone. When I wish to play my music, I need to wait for the song to download from iCloud before it will play and if I'm out of range or in a weak signal area, I get no music at all.

One more thing to check on your computer...iCal>Preferences...>Accounts>Account Information>iCloud>Refresh Calendars:>Push
If that is not helpful, go through the procedures listed in iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar.

There is a file in the iTunes library folder that contains your playlist information is the iTunes Library.xml file.
Try and find the file, usually located in one of these locations depending on your OS:
Operating System
Default location of iTunes Folder
Mac OS X
/Users/[your username]/Music
Microsoft Windows XP
\Documents and Settings\[your username]\My Documents\My Music\
Microsoft Windows Vista
\Users\[your username]\Music\
Microsoft Windows 7
\Users\[your username]\My Music\
Then you can import this file to your iTunes Library like this:
1. Choose File > Library > Import Playlist.
2. Navigate to the "iTunes Library.xml" file
3. Windows users: Click Open.
If your Podcasts list in iTunes is empty after following these steps, learn how to add them back into iTunes.

What computer OS are you using? Do you have the latest version of iTunes (v11.1)? There has got to be a reason for the disconnect in the music syncing. I would recommend resetting the sync history. If you are in Windows, go to Edit, Preferences, Devices, and there is a button there. Now, with the phone connected to iTunes and the phone selected in the Device pane, you go to the Summary page and down towards the bottom of the page, there is a Reset Warnings box. After doing that, try to sync music again. If there is a problem, with the warnings reset, it should show up if there is one.

Go back to iTunes, select the Music tab, uncheck the 'sync music; button, then hit apply.

You may have some problems because Apple has not certified that everything works with Windows 8 yet.

I don't know why they appeared, as I did have the songs working before and they were on my iPod. But, I didn't want ALL of them on there and I didn't know I could "select" which songs to send to the iPod. However, it's been a few months since I messed with it. This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

Are you currently in Japan or Hong Kong ? You have to be in a country (and have a billing address in that country on your account) to buy or download from its store, that is included in the store's terms.
You can sync content from different accounts from your computer's iTunes library.

I just installed the latest Apple TV software update today. I can still play music from my iPhone 4 to th eATV but purchased movies don't seem to start playing now - or else the buffering time is huge compared with the previous software version. Any fix

I installed the latest software update on our Apple TV - this allows us to access VIMEO. However, although we can still play music from an iPhone 4 we can no longer play purchased tv shows - unless the buffering process has been extended to be glacially slow! It just shows it is loading but under the previous software release a show would start in a minute or two, nothing is happening afer 4 or 5 minutes with this one.

I recenty bought a new laptop running Windows 8 with a small internal hard drive, so I don't want to store all my music on it. I backed up my iTunes library onto an external hard drive, but when I plug this into my new laptop I can't play my music no matter what I do.
I have tried:
- selecting the newly created iTunes library by pressing Shift when opening iTunes and playing a song directly through the iTunes player. It selects the song, comes up with the speaker icon next to it to indicate it is playing, but the time doesn't count down and no music plays
- I have gone into Advanced Preferences and specified the iTunes media folder location, still no songs play
- coped a single song onto my new laptop desktop and tried to play this through iTunes, Media Player and the Music app. Media player says "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file". The Music app says it can't find any music on the computer, so when I select the music folder from my hard drive, it says "Can't Play. Make sure your computer's sound and video cards are working and have the latest drivers, then try again".
I know my laptop can play sound and video as I can watch YouTube videos with no problems. I went to Windows Update, and there are no available updates, I already have every available update.
I have also plugged in a different external hard drive, with different music files on it, and have encountered the exact same problems. It seems I can't play any music at all on this laptop. I know the files are not corrupted, as I can plug both hard drives into a different laptop that runs on Windows 7 and play the music on them with no troubles. Could it be a problem with the files compatibility with Windows 8?
I can also access my iPhone backup through this iTunes library on the new computer, so I know there is no problem with my backup.

I am experiencing a similar problem in Windows 7 64bit. Since my laptop has a 128gb SSD, I have loaded my iTunes library on to an external drive. I can sync my iPhones and iPads from this library, and the songs play fine from those devices. However, when I select a song from my library, and click the play button, nothing happens. iTunes does nothing. I have also tried right-clicking mp3s in my library and selecting "Play", with no results. I do not receive an error message of any kind.
I have also noticed that some of my mp3's within iTunes denote the Time as 00:00. The same mp3's will play and register properly using other mp3 players on my computer, and they also play normally on my iPhones and iPads.
I am running Windows 7 x64 on a Lenovo T530, in iTunes 11.1.3. Everything else in iTunes appears to function normally. I can listen to internet radio stations without an issue, through iTunes, and they play as they should. I have tried three different external drives, with different drive formats, and they all have the same issue. If I copy my iTunes library back to my internal drive, iTunes will play my mp3s.
I did not have this issue with iTunes 10, so I am assuming it is something that has occured within the last few updates.
Has anyone found a fix for this? Unfortunately, I am forced to use iTunes 11 because of my iOS devices, otherwise I would revert to iTunes 10.

I just bought an iPhone 4S. I set it up, restored backup and synced it (used to own a 3GS) everything is fine but for some reason I can't play music from it. It says Now Playing and there's a little icon in the corner but its not playing. Even the little bar at the top that has that little dot that moves along when a song is played isn't even moving. I know I have sound because I've played videos for my little guy and I've previewed songs from iTunes. Could I have done something wrong when I was syncing? Thanks!
