Express Card Slot - freezes up my MBP when connected and it goes to sleep
When I have my express aircard in the slot - whether it is connected to the Internet or not - and I try to put it in sleep mode or it automatically goes to sleep mode, it completely freezes my computer and I have to force quit in order to use my computer again. Sort of. Not duplicable: I can tie the MBP into knots by simultaneous d/ls on like 3 open browsers with multiple tabs too. When I don't get a freeze in my browsers, or in my AT&T GlobeTrotter Connect app, I can leave it inserted and close the lid for sleep (which disconnects the modem anyway), and wake normally (but disconnected). I usually try to remember to take out the aircard before sleep; since it does protrude, and might get bumped!

I'm not thinking that having to just force quit your aircard app is a total freeze. Try getting the Grey curtain of Death, for that! But I know what you mean. I have that same light freeze, and must apple-option-escape three finger salute, force quit the aircard app, just to get the Finder to work. Then I must double-restart with PRAM upchuck for luck, to be able to launch the aircard app again, else it just sits there and locks up again ... And it usually takes me like three tries to connect, at busier times of the day. I am grateful to have the aircard, since it is my only access, due to extreme rural-ness. Kinda like Alaska, only warmer?
You got AT&T or Verizon? My only reception is AT&T, and luckily I got the Option GTMax Express aircard, instead of the Novotel USB dongle. The Option Express 34 has the port for an external antenna, which I need, and used to need even for voice cell phone ... and the USB dongle does not have that port. The little flip-up antennas on either do not give much gain yah. Fine for city life ...
Reception gets better as more towers are built, but that comes with population growth usually. Speed improves as Edge gets upgraded to GSM ... soon? I am getting like 16K d/l when lucky, on Edge only ... My AT&T took $25 M from NipponTel this year to upgrade to GSM, so NT can soak the Asian tourists here on vacation with roaming, etc. They are used to very high speeds d/l and were dying with Edge only ... -
i just upgraded my iphone 3gs to ios 6 not sure if it updated but now when i turn on my phone it says automatically that i need to connect it to itunes using the USB port but when i connect it it comes up as new hardware and cannot find a program/software for my device even though i have the latest itunes on my computer. i have tried reinstalling itunes but it still cannot find my phone and now i cannot use my phone as it is stuck on the sync to itunes screen

That will void any support from Apple. If you take the device to an Apple store you would be able to get an out of warranty replacement. A third party shop may make things worse and end up costing you more. Apple does not sell parts so all the third party shop will be able to use are parts from damaged or stolen devices. If the third party shop cannot fix the device you will have to pay full price for a replacement phone rather than the discounted price from Apple. -

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

paying special attention to item #5
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

If your messages and photos weren't part of your backup, then they're gone.
Certainly you weren't foolish enough to update the iOS on your phone before importing your photos off your phone for safe keeping on your computer like you would do with any digital camera, were you? -

My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting, etc... But it still says "One of the USB decuces arrached to this omputer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".
The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
