One of the characteristics of a good programmer is the ability to solve problems by examining available material - you can start to develop this by looking at the answers to previous questions in a similar vein (hint: forum search).

When I am on FB playing f.eks CW and "click" on an "item", I get that item on "next" page - climb that one and want to go back to the place I was before - but the "arrow" doesent work anymore.
(go back a page - click right or pull down to view history).
I think this is a FIREFOX issue - so FIREFOX have to look at the problem! There is no other "users" who cant help me with this!The Macbook Air is a low end Macintosh for graphics apps and you are asking it to perform a heavy pro workflow using a pro application. The integrated GPU of MBAs is a serious limiter to heavy graphics. Personally I would expect flaky performance with certain operations. In general I recommend that Aperture users choose boxes with independent GPUs and capable of taking 16 GB RAM if necessary.
It will be important to carefully optimize workflow. How much RAM is in the MBA? The most Apple specs is 8 GB but you can check OWC to see if you can go to 16 GB. My Aperture/Photoshop workflow paged out at 8 GB RAM before I upgraded to 16 GB RAM.
You should evaluate whether or not you have adequate RAM:
Look at the Page Outs number under System Memory on the Activity Monitor app before starting a typical Aperture/Photoshop work session and write the number down. Recheck the Page Outs count after working for a few hours and write the number down again. If the page outs change (manual calculation of ending page outs number minus starting page outs number) is not zero your workflow is RAM-starved.
Ignore the pie charts and other info in Activity Monitor because they can be misleading regarding RAM usage. For RAM analysis, manually count page outs before and after a work session.

The first thing I'd try is to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.1 updater:

It would have been more appropriate to post your message in one of the Mac OS X 10.6 message sections. -
Can't get javac to work???
I can't get the javac to work, and i set the path to c:\jsdk\bin%PATH% and then i try the java -version and it says it failed, then the javac says bad command, so it's not seeing it. what gives??
Hi Ricky,
try this, in your autoexec.bat file:
SET PATH=C:\JDK1.3.0_02\BIN
of course change JDK1.3.0_02 by the folder where you have the java SDK.
other paths should be separated with semicolon in the same statement
re init your machine
good luck
PD:are you writing java -version in the DOS promt?
are you writing javac yourfile.java in the folder where yourfile is? Be care,Case matters! -

When i click on firefox it loads but then nothing comes up and it doesent work
Is the Windows 8.1 system you posted from the one with the problem, or is the problem on a different system? In that case, I assume it's also Windows.
Does Internet Explorer work normally or are all browsers affected?
Did this problem start shortly after any software changes, such as:
* Windows update
* installation of new software
* updates to add-ons
In case the problem is your firewall configuration (for firewall software that blocks programs from accessing the internet), please see: [[Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet]].
In case the problem is unwanted software or malware, please see: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. -

I am running Windows SP. 2 and rescently i downloaded the new version of iTunes and when it downloaded it tried to load it up and nothing happens. I waited for an hour and nothing still happened. I reinstalled it and it still didnt work. Just a few minutes ago i went to the support page and it told me to delete a file ina hidden folder. I did it and restarted my computer and it still doesent work. Can someone please help me!
hi Ashley!
I click to open itunes, and it either doesnt do anything at all or once in a while i get a message saying itunes had an error and needed to close.
oh yuck ... it's fairly rare, but i associate the usually itunes sits there doing nothing, but sometimes i get the 'itunes has encountered an error' message when i try to launch it behavior with a viral infection on the PC. (sometimes people also see a mysterious message about their DrWatson too.)
i'm not sure precisely which virus causes this one ... but if your existing antivirus and antispyware programs aren't picking it up, try Googling for and downloading a free trial copy of the Panda antivirus software. that usually seems to clean it up (whatever it is).
keep us posted.

I'm new to Java and can't get javac command working
Ok first of all hello ( i'm new to the forum ), second i'm reading a book about Java and im trying to compile a sample code from the book, but javac command gained life and it's against me. So the book i'm reading is Sams Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days (YAY), and the code i want to compile is an application that works with another bit of code that mimics what a robot could do inside a volcano. So the Volcano program code is the following ( i'll post the robot code at the end of the post):
1: class VolcanoApp {
2: public static void main(String[] arguments) {
3: VolcanoRobot dante = new VolcanoRobot();
4: dante.status = ?exploring?;
5: dante.speed = 2;
6: dante.temperature = 510;
7:
8: dante.showAttributes();
9: System.out.println(?Increasing speed to 3.?);
10: dante.speed = 3;
11: dante.showAttributes();
12: System.out.println(?Changing temperature to 670.?);
13: dante.temperature = 670;
14: dante.showAttributes();
15: System.out.println(?Checking the temperature.?);
16: dante.checkTemperature();
17: dante.showAttributes();
18: }
19: }
Ignore the numbers they are used for explaining stuff in the book, and i din't copy the indentation.
So what i do is that i creat a file with notepad ( no fancy stuff only plain old notepad ) and i copy this code, remove the numbers and make the indents.
After that i save as .txt file with the apropriate name ( i know it's case sensitive ). After that i open command prompt and write:
javac VolcanoApp.java
And it tells me that "javac is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file".
I managed to solve that by going to the control panel and by adding to the system variables for my user in the path variable this :
;C:\JAVAJDK\bin
( C:\JAVAJDK is where JDK is installed)
And then i modified the system variables like this:
In the CLASSPATH i entered this .;%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar
In JAVA_HOME i entered this C:\JAVAJDK
Setting the variables like this made the javac error go away but now when i write in command line
javac VolcanoApp.java
It gives me this error
javac: file not found : VolcanoApp.java
Usage: javac options source files
use -help for a list of possible options
And then i read that i can drop my java file directly in the javac file. So i did.
When i drop my VolcanoApp.java in the javac file it open a command line window and writes a bunch of stuff in like a milisecond and shuts down. And no file is created.
I wanted to know what was writen in that window so i did it again and took a print screen and pasted it on paint ( it writed so much text that i only got a little bit but enough to see what hapend)
I read it and in the print screen it said it had 15 errors ( so far ) and then it point the errors with little arrows and there were characters that weren't present in the original code.
What hapend the compiler added wierd letters?
SO, my real question is, how the heck do i get javac working and compiling stuff properly?
Plz help i'm getting mad at this! ; (
And the code for the "robot":
1: class VolcanoRobot {
2: String status;
3: int speed;
4: float temperature;
5:
6: void checkTemperature() {
7: if (temperature > 660) {
8: status = ?returning home?;
9: speed = 5;
10: }
11: }
12:
13: void showAttributes() {
14: System.out.println(?Status: ? + status);
15: System.out.println(?Speed: ? + speed);
16: System.out.println(?Temperature: ? + temperature);
17: }
18: }
Again no indents and ignore the numbers. In the book it only said to compile the VolcanoApp.java , and not the VolcanoRobot.java
Edit:
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

Sorry if i wasn't more clear but was that response needed?No it wasn't needed, but I'm not the one asking for help so I have the luxury of not worrying too much about it. It's extremely frustrating trying to drag relevant information out of someone, and makes one less inclined to bother.
Anyways, there's still nothing in this thread that actually explicitly says "there is a file called VolcanoApp.java in the directory where I'm running javac from" and I really can't be bothered banging my head against the wall any longer. You've made a silly mistake, or a false assumption. We all do it from time to time. My advice is, take a break, go for a walk and re-visit this in a while. You'll probably spot the mistake right away. -

C:\Program Files>That error means that the file does not exist or you got the filename wrong (which means it does not exist)...
recheck the location of your file and verify that it actually there...
Step 2, now that we know that the J2SDK1.4.2_03 is installed in C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin...
We can now set you path... If you have an Windows 2000 or XP then check this link in the forum...
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=54&thread=491703&tstart=0&trange=15
So what you do is right click on My Computer (icon) which will give you a menu...
Select Properties at which point you will see the System Properties Dialog window...
Select the Advanced Tab (called Details in Win2000) Click on the Environment Variables button...
Which will open the Environment Variable Dialog window... then in the second little window labeled System Variables, select Path and click on the edit button...
you will now see the Edit System Variable dialog window...
in Variable Value goto the the end of that line (make sure that nothing is selected/highlighted), type
";c:\j2sdk1.4.2_3\bin
make sure that you include the semicolon...
click ok to make the change, and via the ok buttons exit System Properties...
reopen DOS and now you should be able to run Javac.exe anywhere...
Hope this helps...

Sorry... Newbie need help... Win XP Javac not working
Hello....I am pretty new at Java programming, and from wut I have heard...I can run Java applications out of Dos... I learn the codes are Javac and appletviewer. but it doesnt seem to work with win XP professional.... it said that the codes are not internal or external command or something like that....can someone please show me the right way...thanks
I'm assuming you put the path in the Environmental Variables on the Advanced tab in the System settings. You need to put in the path to java bin folder. Make sure you put the right path in - for example on my XP the path I added is c:\j2sdk1.4.0\bin
You can do a search for a file named javac.exe if you aren't sure where it is installed. Also, reboot after setting. -
My javac command does not work. My path is correct because the java command works. I think this problem occurs because I dont have the javac.exe file in my bin folder. So was wondering if there is any place where I can download javac.exe, or if someone was kind enough to upload that file on there server, and then give me the web address where you uploaded it, and I can download it from there. Thank you.
huh no edit option. edit option? what's that?
i forgot to ask, if it is
neccasary for me to have jre. if i have jdk. what is
the difference except that it takes up more space.aye, there's the rub: "What's the difference between the jre and jdk?"
JDK = Java Developer's Kit. This is for people who want to develop code.
JRE = Java Runtime Engine. This is for clients who just want to run a Java JVM.
"...except that it takes up more space..." - AND you can develop and compile actual code with one and not the other.
