Is this line 37?
If so, if any of fName, lName or addr are null you will get a NullPointerException.
This is not how you check whether something is null.
Use '=='.

I haven't looked at the source yet, but I remember the api specs talking about the init(ServletConfig) method being called by the container.
The servlet will the set up it's references to objects (eg. the ServletContext) and calls the init() method.
So, if you override the init(ServletConfig) method the references will never be set up, and you will get null calling getServletContext().
So always use the init() method for any initialization of servlets.

Jax-ws 2.2.8 and ws-addressing: Client throwing java.lang.NullPointerException on receipt of HTTP 202 when using non-anonymous ReplyTo address

I am getting a java.lang.NullPointerException when calling the operation on the WS endpoint from the client when using non-anonymous replyTo address.
I have simplified the scenario into a small test case that hopefully others can replicate. Since the exception is happening on the client instead of the server, I would think that the container used is irrelevant, but I have specified it nonetheless.

In summary:
Server is listening on port 8080
Client will listen in port 8082 for the callback from the server for the SOAP response
Now when I run the client, I see that the proper behaviour as far as ws-addressing is concerned. That is:

As you can see from the output above, the proxy is throwing an Exception when it receives the HTTP 202 response.
Any ideas ?

I think I have found when I get this error and probably I have found a bug. I will appreciate if someone can confirm this.
In my BPEL project setup, my BPEL process's wsdl file imports another wsdl from different namespace. Here is sample snippet -

Please let me know. I checked the bundled samples with Oracle BPEL PM and did not find any similar case where process wsdl imports another wsdl.

Error in executing servlet JSPRunner: java.lang.NullPointerException

I have some problems with my jsp files.
I am using iAS6sp4 and iWS 6 on W2K.
I created a EJB jar file and an empty WAR file (No JSP, Servlet, just web.xml & ias-web.xml) and pack them into a ear file for deployment. It was successful.
Then I copy some jsp files to <iasinstall>/ias6/ias/APPS/<app name>/<war name>
and restart the ias and iws server.
When I try the URL: "http://myserver/NASApp/<app name>/myjsp.jsp", I got this error message from kjs.
JSPRunner: init
Exception: SERVLET-execution_failed: Error in executing servlet JSPRunner: java.lang.NullPointerException
My jsp didn't include any java code, just pure htm code. I want to give it a test. But even though I tried with a proper jsp i still got this message. pls advise.

I got this working. Here are the steps that I followed and the output...
Steps
1. Deployed the helloworld application
2. Invoked the application to see if it works fine
3. Copied the myjsp.jsp to the C:\iPlanet\ias6\ias\APPS\helloworld\helloworld directory
4. Shutdown the iAS and iWS and started again
5. Invoked the .jsp file by typing http://sundts2.india.sun.com:81/NASApp/helloworld/myjsp.jsp in the browser.

I believe the problem in your case must be that the .jsp file has been placed in a directory where iAS is not able to recognise. I'm sure this will help. Please feel free to raise questions on this.

Java.lang.NullPointerException when doing SQL on ms access

I am trying to perform Insert and delete commands on an access database and I continue to get a java.lang.NullPointerException when performing the action. Everything is fine when i do a Select * FROM..., I am able to read all of the information I ask for, but when performing the Insert/Delete commands I get the error. Any help would be appreciated, I will copy and past a portion of my code below. All of the fields and variable types match with what is in the database.

please let me know if you have configured any RPS for the same.i faced a similar issue while i was trying to create an instance taken from oracle export dump taken from one of our client.our error got resolved when we changed the web profile to PROD. More often than not this is an issue with the webprofile. try changing the web profile one by one from dev to test to prod and kiosk.
if none of these resolves the issue, try ruuning version app engine program. this will update the ppltools version. in correct version may also some times cause this issue.
Please let me know if you have configured ldap.

Java.lang.NullPointerException when trying to start UM

I get java.lang.NullPointerException when I try to start Unified Messaging using EM on a new Windows 2000 single-box installation. Has anyone enountered this problem?

In fact after configuiring Oracle files as per the document provided at Oracle OTN site 'Collaboration handbook', I am unable to connect OID. As per log it says

I checked Listener, which was found ok, then I checked TNSPING, which executed ok.
I have dowloaded documents troubleshooting OID, but no success. The document itself says that architecture of OID is fairly complex and the log does not suggest much insight.
Any solution?

This exception means that you don't have enough permissions to edit the master rule collection. Add your user to a super admin user group or, if it is not applicable due to your company policy, provide full control rights (not only read/right).

Why dont you try doing this from application.
Enable the integrator 'Web ADI - Interface Columns Integrator' using below query :

commit;Next create a WEB ADI Form Function and do form function association. Then attach this form function to WEB ADI Menu and this integrator will be visible.

Urgent - java.lang.NullPointerException when deploying a WAR file

I am trying to deploy a WAR file on 9iAS rel 2 using the Enterprise Manager. On the web page, I provide the .war file along with application name and url mapping. When I click on deploy, i get an error back which just says java.lang.NullPointerException. There is no stack trace.
Until now, I have been working on my own PC using tomcat, and the war file works fine in tomcat.
I am presuming that there will be a log file where more information will be available, but I do not know where the log file is kept. The Oracle 9iAS is installed on Solaris.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Problem Solved
The problem was the web.xml file which contained some elements that are only valid for servlet 2.4 (used on tomcat) but not on 2.2(used in oracle).

I'm agree ... His behavior is very strange.
At the first time, I decompressed zip file into a new dir and at the first run I agreed to import setup from previous version. From the beginning the v2.1 worked wrong.
After that, I removed all, new and previous versions. I deleted sqldeveloper folder and also service folder (under \Documents and Settings\...\Application data\...)
Also I searched into registry ...
Nothing to do ... also new installation hangs ...
So, perhaps I have to wait new release ... (perhaps the exceptions or the environment conflict will be fixed).

Java.lang.NullPointerException when extending controller

I am working in Oracle Internet expenses module. My requirement is to check 2 values in a page and if any of them is NULL, i need to throw an error message on the page. Code snippet in the extended controller is:
(In the method 'processFormRequest')

Java.lang.NullPointerException when attaching a custom LOV

I've created a new LOV and import it. Then I've personalized an existing page by creating a new messageLovInput field and set its external LOV properties to my custom lov and definde the mapping. I get the following when calling my lov : "oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: java.lang.NullPointerException
