MySQL database connections problems !!!!!

Hello there,
I hope someone could light the way lol
i'm new to php and i was hoping that DW CS4 could help me with most of the code but...... i can't even connect to MySQL....
DW doesn't seem to be able to see MySQL 5.1 and i have PHP 5.31 ... my server is IIS 7.5 on windows 7 ultimate,,,,
IIS/MySQL/PHP are all running fine i cant test them with hand coded *.php page so the only conclusion i have is that DW CS4
is not compatible with my set-up...
so my question is which version of MySQL and PHP do i have to use ???
I would prefer not to use appache but iff i have no choice.... (took me 2 weeks to configure lol)
Thx
Webgau

Have you uncommented the "extension=php_mysql.dll" line under DYNAMIC EXTENSIONS in your php.ini file? Does the MySQL module show up if you run  <?php phpinfo(); ?>  ?

  • Jsp JST MySQL - database connection

    I am facing a database connection problem. I want to connect to mysql database fro a jsp page that uses JSTL taglibs.
    I am using Tomcat 5.x, JSTL 1.1. MySQL 5x
    I have copied jstl.jar, standard.jar and mysql driver in the \WEB-INF\lib dir of my application.
    If I connect to the database using scriptlet it works. But If I connect using the sql taglib, it gives me the error

  • Immediate HELP in Tomcat 5 to Postgresql 7.4 database connectivity problem

    Hi,
    I failed to connect Tomcat 5.0.24 with Postgresql
    7.4.2. The files created by me and the changes i had
    made in the existing files are rates.jsp,
    conversionDAO.java, web.xml and server.xml. The error
    message on the top of the rest of it was "The value of
    useBean class attribute converter.conversionDAO is
    invalid". So far I found out that the coding for
    database connectivity purpose in conversionDAO.java
    cause the error. Another thing is Postgresql jdbc
    driver is required to set in the CLASSPATH for the
    java file to access the Postgresql database. I don't
    know where should I put it in Tomcat for web
    application. Anyway, I put it in
    $CATALINA_HOME/shared/lib according the book i
    refered. I do the database connectivity coding refer
    to the Tomcat Kick Start book from Sams Publishing.

    The problem is ResultSet.next() is not called.
    Try this and modify the table creation as you need.
    ResultSetMetaData rsmd=rs.getMetaData();
    int cols=rsmd.getColumnCount();
         while(rs.next()) {
              for(int i=1;i<=cols;i++)
                        col.addElement(rsmd.getColumnName(i));
                        rdata.addElement(rs.getString(i));
              rows.addElement(rdata);
    Hope this helps

  • MySQL database connections supported?

    Hi,
    I am trying to connect to mysql database using the 'write to database' and 'query database' activities of utilities.
    I have used it successfully for MS SQL but am not able to work with MySQL. I have created the ODBC connection to MySQL database and am able to successfully test connection to mysql database from the 'odbc datasource administrator' window of administrative
    tools.Also able to retrieve the databse names in this window.
    However when I run the write to DB activity to use this ODBC connection, i get the below error (tkt is the name of the 'table').
    Database error has occurred. [MySQL][ODBC 5.3(a) Driver][mysqld-5.6.21]You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ''tkt'' at line 1
     Code = 80040e14
     Code meaning = IDispatch error #3092
     Source = Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
     Description = [MySQL][ODBC 5.3(a) Driver][mysqld-5.6.21]You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ''tkt'' at line 1
    Any compatibility issues or anything else?

    Hello,
    I can reproduce the issue with exactly the same error code. Query database ran without problem except write to database. I also tried to use SQL server instead, and it succeeded.
    I saw the same error with SQL server at first because I used the wrong database. So I’m not sure if we need additional implement with MySQL.
    As suggested, run the same task with script should be a good workaround.

  • CS4 database connection problem

    I am running my own linux server with PHP and MySQL. CS4 will just not connect to the database though I can FTP to the website and hand coded dynamic pages work perfectly fine though any browser. The MySQL remote user has the usual select, insert, delete, update privileges and the username is in the form user%. PHPAdmin confirms the privileges as does Navicat which will connect with no problem. The working pages use a MySQL username that is not remote but with the same privileges.
    Adobe is useless when it comes to describing the MySQL connection problem "unidentified error" which I keep getting. Any ideas gratefully received. ( I am running a laptop development M/C on XP SP3 which I want to make the connection with.
    The connection box inputs are in the following form:
    Connection name: myConnection
    MySQL server: 123.123.123.123
    User name: user%
    Password: *******
    Database: databaseName
    Any help gratefully received.

    I think you should implement a Singleton class.
    something like this....
    private static Connection conn = null;
    public static Connection getDB(String arg1, String arg2) {
       if (conn == null) {
          // initiate your db connection
       // if db connection is already initiated
       return conn;
    }This should be better. Your code has a flaw in that everytime you call getDbConnection(), a new database connection will be created, which of course, consumes both processing time and resource.
    :D

  • Dreamweaver MySQL recordset connection problem

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create a recordset for the first time in
    Dreamweaver MX but am having problems getting the connection with
    the database to work.
    I have set up a MySQL database on my server (which I have
    checked and is OK), checked that PHP is running and have connected
    Dreamweaver to the server successfully ( in "Edit Sites" the
    "remote info" & "testing server" tests show a successful
    connection).
    When I try to connect to the database I get this sequence of
    events:
    1. Dialigue box: "Retrieving information from public_html"
    2. Dialigue box: "Waiting for server" (with progress bar)
    3. Dialigue box: "Dreamweaver cannot determine the remote
    server time. The Select Newer and Synchronise commands will not be
    available."
    4. Spinning ball for a few minutes (I'm using Mac OSX)
    5. back to "Waiting for server" dialogue box which remains
    for ages, eventually I click "cancel"
    6. "An unexpected error occurred"
    If anyone can shed any light on what I might be missing I
    would appreciate it greatly.
    Thanks - Zaphodz

    I am a newby to databases and am having a similar problem
    with asp and my remote sql database. My hosting provider told me to
    use this script:
    <%
    Dim DBName,DBUser,DBPass,objRS,objConn
    DBName="cham_members"
    DBUser="cham_member"
    DBPass="mypassword"
    Set objConn=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    objConn.ConnectionString="DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51
    Driver};Server=localhost;Database="&DBName&";UID="&DBUser&";pwd="&DBPass&";"
    objConn.Open
    Set objRS=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
    %>
    Since that code doesn't work with DreamWeaver's Databases
    panel Custom Connection String dialogue box I came up with this
    one:
    DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51
    Driver};Server=localhost;Database=cham_members;UID=cham_member;PWD=mypassword;objConn.Ope n
    Set objRS=Server.CreateObject(ADODB.Recordset)
    It connected but doesn't show my tables. I followed all the
    advice I found here;
    1. Connect using the "Use passive FTP"
    2. Corrected a few illegal hyphens in my database.
    3. Tried MySQL 127.0.0.1:3306 which would not connect at all
    4. Remove Connection Scripts. No change.
    5. I have been running DreamWeaver 7.01 update.
    I noticed the database connection names come up in the
    "Connections" folder so I opened the file it had just created and
    pasted in the script my hosting company gave me. Still no luck. I
    am determined to learn to create dynamic websites so I really
    appreciate your help.
    Thanks, Ann Y.

  • MySQL Database Connection (two databases at the same time)

    I have never had to open more than one MySQL database from within the same website before, but I do now.  The website I have is designed where all the content comes from within the main database.  I am building an Inventory system that I want within it's own database, in the event I would ever need to move the application to another server or something, I don't want this data residing in the main database.
    Currently, I open the database connection from within a file called "common.php" that resides in a directory called "lib" that can be accessed from the root directory.  Below is the proposed code that would be placed within the "common.php" file:
    // Define Database Variables
    $dbserver = "127.0.0.1";
    $dbuser  = array('clevelan_user1', 'clevelan_user2');
    $dbpass  = array('P@ssw0rd', 'P@ssw0rd2');
    $dbname  = array('clevelan_database1', 'clevelan_database2');
    // Start Session
    session_start();
    // Connect to Databases
    connectdb($dbserver, $dbuser[0], $dbpass[0], $dbname[0]);
    connectdb2($dbserver, $dbuser[1], $dbpass[1], $dbname[1]);
    // Database 1 Connection
    function connectdb($dbserver, $dbuser, $dbpass, $dbname) {
    // connects to db
      global $connection;
      $connection = @mysql_connect($dbserver, $dbuser, $dbpass) or die ("could not connect to server");
      $db = @mysql_select_db($dbname, $connection) or die ("could not select databsase");
      return $connection;
    // Database 2 Connection
    function connectdb2($dbserver, $dbuser, $dbpass, $dbname) {
    // connects to db
      global $connection2;
      $connection2 = @mysql_connect($dbserver, $dbuser, $dbpass) or die ("could not connect to server");
      $db2 = @mysql_select_db($dbname, $connection2) or die ("could not select databsase");
      return $connection2;
    //End of Code Within the "common.php"
    From within any page of the website, I want to access both connections by placing an include at the top of each page:
    include_once("lib/common.php");
    Currently, when I run the code above, any page within the website (the home page) provides error messages with regards to database connectivity (the pages are looking for there content from within the second database.  It's as if the second database is the only database seen by the website.
    I need help figuring out how I can have two MySQL databases open at the same time (the second database will only be open for short periods of time and then closed).  But the main database is always open.

    Create one project using one copy of the exact tables.
    create 2 different sessions.xml files each pointing to the same project. Set the login information in the sessions.xml files.
    That should work fine.

    Ramesh,
    This looks like it might be a Java class mismatch error. Do you have multiple versions of Java installed on your machine? If so, you may want to keep one version and remove the rest.
    If you're already running just one version, you may want to check the registry and classpath for references to multiple Java versions, or version that no longer exist.
    Please let me know if you have additional questions.

    The connection objects are store in the CI_APPOBJECTS repository table with SI_KIND='Metadata.DataConnection' . The connection properties are stored as property bags along with your objects.
    Unfortunately I have just found a reference that this kind of access in not fully supported though and you may have to use the Universe Designer SDK (COM based)
    Change password of Universe connection using Java SDK?
    Since you are working with the SDK it will make sense to post your questions here:
