Mysql standard install on 10.4 ?

having just upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.9 i'm trying to get mysql & php back up and running
my first problem is with mysql - somehow i can't seem to find it......
there's no sign of it in /usr/bin or /usr/sbin/
also, myql administrator comes up with a "Failed to start server." (not very helpfull...)
am i wrong in thinking that somehow this should have been installed by default?????

I think MySQL might be installed by default on OS X Server, but if you're just using the normal OS X, it's not part of the installation. There's just a user set up for it.
It's been a long time since I upgraded an OS between major versions, so I'm not sure whether it would have kept your old installation or not. But my (very) vague recollection is that it didn't.

I bit the bullet and upgraded from 10.3 to 10.4 (backing up /usr/local and httpd.conf first).
The default upgrade did not clobber /usr/local or network settings. mySQL is fine, databases are fine.
[ When I upgraded to 10.3 a long time ago, it clobbered mySQL (details a hazy but painful memory), that's why I was hesitant. ]
This time the upgrade did clobber httpd.conf & changed the mysql socket location.
I restored the old httpd.conf, easy enough.
As for the socket:
<?php phpinfo(); ?> shows where php expects the socket to be.
After the upgrade it was looking in /var.
I edited /etc/php.ini to make it:
MYSQL_SOCKET /tmp/mysql.sock
This is all in aid of running various blogs & Drupal sites.
I keep that stuff on a different partition to keep it out of the clutches of upgrades.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Install with all Updates - Transform Issues

I'm new here so forgive me if this has already been answered someplace and I missed it.
I am running windows XP SP3 and have Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard installed on my system.
I am attempting up install version 9 standard with all the updates (9.1 through 9.4). I have used the Csutomization Wizard 9 to assist in this process and I have also downloaded and save all the update files in the same folder as the AcroStan.msi file. Below is my setup.ini file contents. when I run setup I get the following message "Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid." Any help would be apprciated.

Call Adobe, they should be able to help with this. Nobody else can solve it, there is no workaround except to have Adobe change their records.

How to monitor MySQL Server installed in Windows Server using Nagios

You can do this via NSClient as Gary posted. The NSClient is a communications system that allows nagios to send commands to a target system over the nsclient protocol and they are executed on the remote system. I installed Nagios Core in my Ubuntu workstation 10.04 for me to learn something new in my craft. I use this now to monitor our Windows Server 2008 with MySQL server installed as well as our Datalink Switch (DGS-1210-24). I searched on google on how to monitor a MYSQL server installed in Windows server using Nagios Core but i could not seem to find any. Could anybody who's expert in Nagios give me steps on how to do so. Thanks. All i found in google were steps in monitoring mysql installed in linux and nothing in windows server.

CS4 Creative Suite Standard Install Discs/Download?

So unfortunately my macbook's harddrive just crashed, and with it many photos and applications, including my whole adobe CS4 creative suite standard (student edition). My problem is that I no longer have the original install discs because my beloved roommate threw the box out. Also a problem, I cannot even think about upgrading to CS5 (don't really want to) because I am still on OS X10.4 (Tiger). I have tracked down my serial number through adobe's support (muchos gracias), but have no way of getting ahold of a complete CS4 creative suite standard install discs/download. I have tracked down a friend's CS4 Photoshop install discs (but that doesn't work with my serial #) as well as another friend's CS4 creative suite premium install discs (also doesn't work with my serial #)... Is there anything I can do to get a download or install discs of the programs from adobe? I only use/need photoshop and bridge, but really need them seeing as I am a ski photographer who is trying to finish up my last edits for winter submissions...

9iAS Standard install problem (can't connect)

I've attempted the Standard install several times, with different settings to try to get it to work. At the end of the install - when the install gui progress bar reads 100% - a sql*plus session is attempted via a DOS window, presumably to run some configuration scripts. This session has never made a valid connection, so the scripts never run. I can connect to my db via sql*plus, so I'm not sure where the problem is. Any pointers on this? Can I run these scripts outside of the installer? If so, what scripts?

I am currently having the same problem with the 8i Install on a clean Solaris 8 Box. The problem is the tnsnames file is not being updated properly and cannot connect to the DB. Error ORA-03114. They have a "default" name for the DB. You can create the DB by running the createdb command with a .sql file of the DB files to be created(redo logs, db size etc.). Then run the netassist to create/update the tnsnames file with the connection you need.
Gary is correct about the tnsnames file, but the installer still may not work.. It did not work for me.

How can I get Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard installed againg into my notebook Vaio windows7 Pro?

Acrobat 9 Standard Install Question

I just got Acrobat 9 Standard. I want to add it onto 6 computers in a network and 1 personal computer. Will I be able to do this or are the capabilities set up where you can only install it onto one computer?

You can install it on as many computers as you want, but only 2 can be activated at the same time, and there's a limit on the number of deactivations.

I am trying to install acrobat 8 standard on my new dell venue tablet and receiving an error message that the serial number is invalid. I verified the serial number multiple times. Same message. Any help?

Were you being asked for the SN of the qualifying product? If so, find the SN from your previous version as it appears you are installing an upgrade.

Acrobat 8 Standard Install in MS 7 OS obliterates extension?

Had to change desktop boxes due to HD failure. New Lenovo box worked fine, had backups. Using Adobe-purchased software, tried to load Acrobat 8 Standard in new box Vista. Installation shows popup box saying a DLL is missing (C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Adobe\Acrobat8.0\AcrobatXtras\AdobePDF\i386). Unable to find it in Browse, selected Cancel and rest of install went OK (I thought). After Installation, Desktop shows important icons with Adobe Logo. Clicking on those shows the Acrobat screen ("unable to find file...etc") and won't load other programs such as AOL, MSPaint, LTSpice, etc, any program that begins with an .EXE file extension. UNInstalling using Vista Control Panel returns the proper Logos.
Acrobat 8 Standard was purchased in late January 2008 and worked fine under XP Operating System. There is no way (so far) that I can find HOW to rectify this problem with 7 Home Premium (bundled with new box). It worked OK on wife's XP computer also. Trying a Trial version of Acrobat X results in the same problem on this MS 7 OS...all .EXE file extensions get changed to .PDF with appropriate warning boxes from Acrobat. I CAN use Acrobat X READER okay, no problems. Please help on this.

As far as I know, the updater is a standalone EXE file that you run
Added... looked, and they are MSP files, not EXE
But... I do not understand the "uninstall" message

I purchased Adobe Acrobat X Standard with my computer from Dell. I have the serial number. How do I download the software??

If its a Dell machine you have bought and the software was bundled with it you can visit the site https://smartsource.dell.com and login.
Make sure you're running it from the Dell computer that had the license. It will install an IE activeX control to determine your system info, and then will take you to a downloads page where you can download all the software your computer was licensed for.

Adobe Acrobat Standard install doesn't recognize my version of IE

When I try to install Adobe Acrobat Standard 9, I get an error that says I need IE6 or greater and the install will not finish. I have IE9. Why doesn't it recognize that I have IE9, and how do I get around this? Thanks.

Assuming that you have an additional domain controller on your desktop computer, you will need too SEIZE the FSMO roles to your desktop computer. Then re-install the OS on the old DC and do a Metadata cleanup and then go with promoting
the additional domain controller. These are the tasks which you need to do:
Seize the FSMO roles from your crashed old DC to your desktop computer. Using Ntdsutil.exe to transfer or seize FSMO roles to a domain controller
Do a Metadata cleanup and remove old objects related to your crashed DC. Clean Up Server Metadata
Re-install OS on your OLD Sever and promote it as additional domain controller to your desktop computer(DC).
Transfer the FSMO roles back to your server which is a clean DC now. How to view and transfer FSMO roles in the graphical user interface
